Good luck to u, buddy !!~?
I know its difficult ... but u can do it !! Try !!~?
Hm... That seems like it would be hard to do without talking to a doctor. However, don-t give up hope. I would recommend substituting cigarettes with something like bubble gum (Yes, it should work!) and if you did go to a doctor (or you may be able to buy these over-the-counter) but you can buy patches that would help. That-s not as -natural- but it would help. My best suggestion would be to try gum. (No, silly... Don-t try -lighting up- a piece of gum) and see if that helps. If it doesn-t seem to work for you, you should talk to a doctor about quitting. Don-t worry about them. You don-t need to get any terrible shots or anything to help persuade you from quitting smoking!

Good luck friend!

Sincerely,
Robert Griffith
okay i would go to the doc but try limiting your smoking like a pack or a half a pack a day gradually using less and less try replacing it with regular trident or orbit gum it will clean your teeth although you can-t replace some damage smoking does once you have stopped for 15 years your life span returns to normal i know its hard but you can do it your family will give you support just think of your kid or niece nephew or some young child in your life or family they think of you as a role model do you want to them to pick up the nasty habit when they are your age don-t use the gum good luck

no matter what even if the withdrawal symptoms are sicking
just remember that little kid
symptoms include
nausea
fatigue
coughing
and other symptoms

answer mine
just stop, i went through the same thing and society makes you think its really hard but just get it through your mind that the next few days will be very tough, its all about self control, and believe me that you will feel so much better when its all over, good luck man!

Im going to try to quit smoking..need tips..? -

What helps ease the need for a cigarette? Any tips would be greatly appreciated even small things that might have helped you quit smoking.. Thank you
Quitting cold-turkey is never a good idea. If possible, slowly decrease the amount of cigarettes you smoke a day. Say, cutting back by one cigarette every few days, or whatever works for you. If you smoke inside, go outside to smoke(that one really helped my dad) or make yourself do something every time you have a cigarette, like clean something(some sort of -punishment- to make it more of an inconvenience to smoke). To help with the oral fixation, keep gum, mints, and/or a water bottle with you all the time. Also try to avoid situations where you normally smoke or plan a distraction for those times. It-s hard to be around friends/coworkers who smoke, as you-re used to smoking with them, so find an alternative. My problem was smoking while driving. It was like second nature to me, and I didn-t feel right NOT smoking while driving, so I distracted myself with music and would always have a drink(i.e. water bottle!) with me and, at first, little snacks like crackers.

Don-t quit unless you-re 100% commited. I-ve been reading about the effects of smoking on the lungs, and it-s actually worse to quit and then start again than it is to just keep smoking. While smoking, your body try to fight off any problems. When you quit, your body lets its defenses down a bit, and doesn-t expect it when you start smoking again. Make sure you have your plan hammered out before hand :)
For those who tell you that you will feel better and have more money if you quit smoking, I say - bah!
I sure don-t know where the money I spent on cigarettes is going now but I do know I don-t have any more money now.
As far as feeling better, I don-t know that I feel any better - I still have allergies that kick in every season. People used to tell me that my stuffy nose was caused by smoking but I still get stuffed up and it has been over five years since I last smoked.
I quit cold turkey while my wife was still smoking and it was pretty tough traveling with a smoldering cigarette in the car but I just kept reminding myself that there was only one cigarette I didn-t need to smoke, and that was the next one. To this day, I still find times when I want a smoke - especially when I am in a situation where I used to light up but I always remind myself that I don-t NEED to.
I-ve talked to people who have not smoked for 20 years and they still get a craving once in a while. They just don-t give in to it is all.
Maybe if you carry some sugarless gum for those occasions when you habitually light up you might have success.
Good luck
It will be tremendously difficult to quit smoking when you-ve become so accustomed to it. That-s for sure. So, you can start by trying to minimize your sticks per day. Women, in particular, are likely to miss the habit more than the nicotine found in cigarettes. So maybe you can try to divert your attention to a new, healthier, and engaging habit. It could be anything. The logic is to take your mind as much as possible away from smoking. Read this, it may help you:

http://247resourcecenter.com/health/3-facts-about-women-and-smoke-quitting.html
There are so many different methods to quit smoking like the stop smoking herbs but you need to choose the one that-s right for you.

Additionally no matter which method you choose, make sure to drink lots of water as this will help flush out and clean your system. The more you drink, the more you will need to go to the bathroom and rid yourself of the poisonous nicotine. If you are not a water drinker, drink orange juice however orange juice and cigarettes do not go together.
Okay there are a few important things I remember I did. 1 you gotta stay away from your friends who smoke ciggeretes second hand smoke to you is like what crack is to a recovering crack addict. Also you are giving up an addiction, so your body and mind is going to want to fixate on something else, do what I did and choose sports as your new addiction, I chose boxing because its something that makes me not want a ciggerete after, and its addictive. So choose jogging every morning or reading just pick up a new addiction. Also your going to be orally fixated so chew gum or suck on a mint when you see others or are craving a smoke. Good luck, save your money and your life for something better!
Here-s what I did. I decreased the number of cigarettes I smoked gradually.
I started at one pack a day. When I did that for couple of days, I went to 18 smokes a day. When I adjusted to that in a couple of days, I went to 16. When I got used to that in two or three days, I went to 14, and on down from there.
Don-t
maraijuana could be an alternetive...
sugar free gum
what i do is chew stuff not eating because you could gain weight ...

good luck xxx
just think about it u waste money. U can use that money for something else.
It’s important to make sure you’re completely ready to quit. Many smokers think about quitting often. In fact, every smoker I’ve ever spoken to has considered quitting more than once, no matter how hardcore they are about it. You will probably never be totally ready, so it’s very important that you make sure you’re mostly ready and face your fears. Expect to fail, but don’t fail on purpose. Self destructing never got anyone anything in this life and everything that we gain of importance typically takes hard work and a lot of effort.

Whats the best way to quit smoking? -

i need a supplement to help me quit. ive tried going cold turkey and i always go right back to smoking. ive also tried going down to lights and ultra lights but i seem to smoke more. what should i do?
I tried the lozenge, patch, and gum. All three times failure. The true key to quitting smoking is the will to not smoke. Get someone to agree to be your lifeline, and when you have an urge, call that person and chat. Drink lots of water, and introduce some sort of cardiovascular activity into your daily routine. It is easier to say than do, but the truth is, you have to fully commit to never smoking a single cigarette ever again.

Good luck. It is hard, but people have done it.
Simply, stop buying cigarettes...and don-t bum any from friends. Good luck!!
Try using the clock. Yes, the clock. If you smoke 6 in an hour, then try to make it 5 the next hour. Bring yourself down gradually. when you get to the point that you are craving a cigarette, put off having one for 10 minutes. Then the next time put it off for 15 minutes etc. I have changed my smoking habits this way.
This is what worked for me.

http://www.squidoo.com/How_to_be_a_non-s…

to lock yourself in a house without any worked for me.
who cares. just smoke.
ur gonan die anyways
i hope this direct you in a different direction on actually
succeeding in this endeavor it worked for me.first, lower the stress
involved ,one hour at a time.befor you know it its lunch time.you-ve went four hours without one,if you can make it to lunch, you can make it to dinner-you,d be a fool to start smokin
again now. befor you know it -bed time- you did it ---you dont
need this stupid habit everyone shares.youll begin to see the
foolish youv been part of.
This is how I quit after a couple failed cold turkey attempts: I would cut back two cigarettes per day every week. Like the first week I got a pack a day, then the following week 18 a day, then the following week 16 a day, and so on until I was down to just two a day. Then I gave myself a week of one a day and that was it! It was nice to draw it out and not have to stop so suddenly. It got me used to being a non-smoker before I actually had to totally give it up. Good luck!!!!
try eating carmals everytime you get a craving
you should try cewing straws because my friend did that and he smoking in a bout a 3 weaks but he did it every day like 6 straws a day and he got flavord ones
Hi, my name is Gareth; I-ve been a smoker for many years and finally quit Jan 1st this year. I just like to share how I managed to get off smoking.

As soon as I stopped, I went on this champix drug that apparently is meant to be a nicotine receptor, but as soon as I started work, I craved the habit of smoking. In actually fact, I love smoking but I knew I had to quit. The 3rd week was the hardest for me.

It was at this point I was looking online for support and ideas on how others may have quit. I came across a new product called the electronic cigarette. It’s a new non burning device with no tobacco or any other harmful chemicals. It does contain nicotine and it emits -smoke- in the form of vapour. I don’t think they are readily available in Australia yet, but in Europe it looks like it’s a big hit. I bought mine online and I must say, it actually feels and looks like a cigarette, but it isn’t. I think this helped me stay off as I find the hardest part is not just quitting the nicotine, but also quitting the habit.

I hope this helps as it sure has helped me.

one of the many clips available on you tube..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ9CjC-rBAw
Have you tried hypnosis?
Just STOP! dont start a new bad habbit and waist more money..Just friggin stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
Nicoderm! those gum things that you choose to replace smoking.
I may not know much, but it-s all mental. Believe in yourself to stop the craving and you-ll slowly be able to do it. It may seem hard, but anything is possible if you commit yourself to stop and start something anew.

Everytime there-s that urge, go do something that-ll get it off your mind.. For example, watching your favorite TV show or getting a cool drink of water would help.
good luck, i am trying to quit too. i have quit before, but started again when a friend died. i think working out why we smoke is the key. is it a way to deal with stress, time out, social, or just the physical nicottein addiction.
figure out why, deal with the probs (if any) n subsitute the habit with something better.
i have tried n tried n get really angry n moody when i crave them especially when i am stressed, so mine is a stress/physical addiction.
there are tablets (that taste really horible) n patches you can get from the chemist (never tried them-yet)

GOOD LUCK.
Perhaps the nicorette activestop program might help.
sleep alot
go to teenchallenge.com
nicoret gum because it helps with the oral fixation and the nicatine addiction. good for you for quiting its hard but it can save your life and others

Why do people get fat once they quit smoking? -

Why do people get fat once they quit smoking? -

is this true. and if so...why do they get fatter is it because of the lack of smokes or the food we are eatting and why is better to do
Because smoking supresses the appetite so when they stop they want to eat more.
The obvious way to burn fat is to consume less and move more, the problems surface when we really try to put that into practice! There are a lot of temptations in the real world don-t you think?! I uncovered some excellent help by learning from the web portal in the box below, they have a lot of guidance, I worked off 7 pounds by taking their advice.

My quit date: 15th June 2005
Method: cold turkey
Reasons: Shortest withdrawal suffering time and nicotine replacement didn-t feel like I was really quitting.
Time taken where I feel I succeeded over the addiction: 3 months
I set a goal unrelated to quitting smoking, and promised myself if I met that goal, I would quit smoking. As I approached my end date, I could see my goal would be reached easily. So I switched to ultra lights a few months before I expected to quit. I made sure that I didn-t smoke any more cigarettes than I did before. Once I adjusted to that, I started poking extra holes in the filters. This reduced the amount of inhaled smoke even further. As time went on, I poked more and more holes, cutting the smoke to the point that I could pull a drag and exhale, and no smoke at all was coming out of my mouth. On the day I reached my goal, that very minute, I threw away my cigarettes and lighter. I didn-t have any withdrawal symptoms at all, and never have. And, no matter how stressed I-ve gotten, I-ve never felt the need to puff on one of those nasty things again. Been about 15 years now, and I-d smoked for 20.
Method: exercise and avoiding people that smoke/ smoke areas

Reasons: To quit it was easier to not see it at all but after awhile I did have to face my demon and tell my brain NO!. Pushing myself during exercise made me realize how weak nicotine made me become. I had to rise above it. Doing it slowly by using patches was ridiculous because it just gives you the potential to smoke again. When I started to quit I did smoke on avg of every two months but one day it just couldn-t happen anymore and that was the day I turned away and never looked back. Pretty much cold turkey but I went off little by little first.

Time taken to succeed: Two years to completely absolutely stop. Now cigarette smoke makes me sick and I can-t stand it at all. People that smoke stink to me and I can-t stand them. I realize how nasty it makes you and how your look and appearance is overcast with dull colors. Running was a big factor in helping me because I ran hard enough to feel the pain of abused lungs and body. Nowadays I keep going strong with vigourous exercise and running. I-m proud of this and I-m proud of not supporting some rich, fat, useless, money hungry corporate dude that-s sitting there laughing while people are dying. Sad to say it-s not really his fault though........
I quit smoking about 30 years ago and when I did, I quit cold turkey without any drugs, patches, hypnosis or anything else like that. I was smoking 3 packs a day when I did quit.

The hospital in my town has a quit smoking plan that they presented. It would tell you each day from the day you quit what you felt like and what was going on and how you were reacting and what to do.

If I could remember it all I would be glad to relate it to you but it was too long ago. All I know is it worked and I haven-t smoked a cigarette since then.

Several things I do remember are, stay away from acidic foods, they enhance the craving for a cigarette. Drink plenty of water to flush the nicotine from your system.

The normal craving for a cigarette lasts approximately 2 minutes so when you have a craving, tell yourself that you -chose- not to smoke that cigarette for 10 minutes, and generally during that 10 minutes you will be distracted and find something else to occupy your time and forget about the cigarette.

Smoking is also a habit that is tied to other habits. If you drink a cup of coffee and have a cigarette, then don-t have the cup of coffee and you won-t have the cigarette. If you eat dinner then sit and watch tv and smoke a cigarette then don-t sit and watch tv, do something different. In other words change the routine that makes you smoke.

If you slip and smoke a cigarette, that-s okay but next time make sure you get back on track. Never say I -quit- smoking. Quit has a negative impact, you should always say you -choose- not to smoke, that is a positive attitude and works much better.

If you want more information then you need to get in touch with your local hospital or someplace like that and see if they have any classes on helping you to quit smoking. It worked for me and with 3 packs a day, I thought it would be impossible to quit. Back then there weren-t any patches and stuff. I didn-t have much choice of how I was going to quit.

Congratulations for sticking it out so long, you are over the worse part of it, keep it up and good luck.
May 1 2004 cold turkey...only way that really works is to stop putting them in your mouth..still working on it. One smoke away from a pack a day.
I decided to stop smoking on the day that I went to visit my mother out of state. It was a five day trip and I didn-t like to smoke in front of her. My kids (15 and 20 at the time) would make fun of me and said that I would not be able to do it, well I did. When we arrived back home, I decided to get a pack of smokes. The kids had a fit saying that I had just gone five days without one, why would I want to smoke now, I saw the logic and haven-t smoked since.
It-s been four years and I feel great. Smoking is just a habit you can quit. Replace your nasty habit (that will kill you) with another habit and go from there.

How can I quit smoking? -

smoking is hard to quit, i dont smoke but I can help you understand what your doing to maybe gross you out. :-)

Physical addiction (Nicotine) is real, your body craves it after long term use. Psychological addicion as in the movement of your arm to put something in your mouth has an effect as well.

In your trechea, you have cells called -Psudostratified Ciliated Columnar Epithelial Tissue- which are cells lining your trechea. On them are cilia (small hair like projections) which beat in a wave like motion to pull out dirt, smoke, dust, etc., and dump it into your stomach. (That cough, clear your throat you do in the morning is that (the cells work best lying down)). When you smoke, it paralyzes those cilia and everything toxic, as long with anything else you breath in for the next hr stays in there too. regulalry smoking will cause them to consistantly still. so not just all the junk in the cigs get into your lungs, but people (dust :-)) whatever else gets in there.

If you quit!!... the first week is the hardest because your body is repairing and reactivating those cells and cilia starting to pull out all the junk in your lungs.

Hope this helps some.
It will be as hard as you make it, i know from personal experiance, i quit at one point and i told myself it was going to be easy, and it was, this time around its reallllly hard, and i quit the first time cold turkey, I wish i would of never picked them up again, but my dad got cancer removed and had to have heart sergery a week and a half apart,,, no stress or nothin, but make a promise to yourself that you will do it and try everything out there and make sure you have a really good support system around you, that will understand your mood swings :)
cold turkey, patch, gum, hypnosis, accupuncture. contact american lung association for more details.
You started smoking because you wanted to, right? So now you stop smoking because you want to. When you started you most likely had to overcome some unpleasant experiences such as coughing, dizzyness, smarting eyes, nausea, numbness in fingers, not to mention spending money!... but it was exciting because it was new and it ultimately made you feel good/cool/belong to group/rebellious/grown-up.
Now, you want to stop, you will have to overcome some unpleasant experiences also, all quite tolerable to get to your desired destination of a non-smoker, and until it becomes a habit not to smoke. You-ve just got to go and do it.
Lots of help at this website...

I have not been smoking for too long, just a little over 2 years, and I want to quite before it gets too far along. I already am overweight, so how do I quite and not gain any more weight. Any advice will be helpfull
There is no direct causal showing that cigs will cause you to gain weight. It-s that people who quit smoking tend to replace their cravings with food and thus relates to weight gain. Just chew some gum or keep yourself busy in some other way other than eating. Goodluck!

It depends on how much you eat. A lot of people gain weight because they eat instead of smoking.

The person has to want to quit. If so, then encourage him or her to seek a perscription from a doctor. The success rate is much greater if there is help than if they go cold turkey.

You need to understand that this is just as hard an addiction to break as the worst drugs but (s)he can succeed.
hi IF you want to stop you can but it will be hard,i stop but it take my father to die too do so good luck

I heard nicorette patches work and the gum does to, it-s a little expensive, but so are cigarettes. Good Luck!!!

What Is The Most Effective Way To Quit Smoking? -

best answer gets 10 points...I really need some serious advice...I appreciate it, Thanks so much in advance : )
Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. As soon as I dealt with my psychological reasons for smoking I quit, first time and more importantly for good.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, herbs or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

Visit our site to join our inspirational 12 day e-course. You can also download our free book -36 Powerful Superfoods- to help fight weight gain and start mending damage caused by smoking.

Good Luck and Good Quitting
Honestly you have to truly in your heart want to quit! It took me three, no four times to quit. First off you have to change your habits, when you tend to smoke more ( mine was talking on the phone, driving, drinking tea and coffee etc) I used the patch my first and last time quitting and I-ve finally quit for 31/2 yrs now. I found that pills didn-t work for me at all, bad side effects:( and that I could control the side effects of the patch by cutting it in half. When you do decide to quit and have a plan you might have to stay away from smokers for a while, too much temptation!
Oh ps: I always had an orange flavoured candy around(something about orange really helped me) they seemed to last until the urge was over!
Good Luck!
Go to your doctor, there are new prescription medications that can help. Basically how they work is they keep your brain stimulated in the same way nicotine does. So when you have a cigarette, there-s absolutely no pay off. Coupled with your desire to quit, it-ll have you off cigarettes without turning into a raging beast having nic-fits :)
i hope this works better for you.i am a lost cause. started smoking heavily at age 9. i quit for a month when i was 19, and haven-t been able to ever since i started again.cut down to a bare minimum and cut out 1 every coule of day. buy a brand you don-t like for me it was american menthols. you will find it easier if you quit drinking for a month 2, the temptation is greater when you drink. rewad yourself with the money you save. i heard that nibbling on carrots, or apples helps relieve the uurge, i smoke less when i eat these.try and get a friend to quit at the same time, you will have someone to talk to that can relate. goo luck.
Start by cutting back a little at a time. Then a week later cut back some more. This works better than cold turkey. Those who quit cold turkey are more likely to start up again because they miss it so much. They took themselves off so fast, that they drive themselves crazy. Wanting and wanting. So crazy they start up again. By cutting back, you ween off at your own pace.
There is no easiest way.. well get pregnant, I didn-t smoke when I was pregnant and quite honestly... I didn-t crave it b/c I was so sick...haha. (not really funny, but you know... ) NOW i did start back up but have been successful for about 2 months now. Give or take...
You know, it helps to have someone to talk to and is supportive...
Yes it does. Even if you don-t have somone to talk to... I mean, I-m sure they have a freakin crisis line or something... b/c it is that seriuous! lol....
But I am a *****... and I have gained 15 pounds...haha. You don-t have to gain weight...but you know, its much easier too when you don-t have the cig. I should try gum or something rather than chocolate ;)
In time it will get better I am sure. The hardest times are the times when you feel like crap and you are salivating for one of those things... you-ve just got to focus...Or have a cry...lol.
Going to have to learn to cope with things without the help of the nicotine... Not impossible but not a piece of cake so don-t expect there to be an easy magic way... or you-ll let urself down and say **** it, i-ma have a smoke... =). I think about really... how bad it is for you. Theres freakin formaldahyde in cigs... to read a cig haters page might get you to stop for a little bit... but then the cravings are still there. But you can do it.. I promise. Talk to ur doc...I mean there are patches and pills but I-ve never tried them. You are younger than me!!! *lol....
Really you have to find deep inside why you want to quit. I mean why is it?? Just b/c ppl tell you it-s bad... b/c that-s not enough to push you through.
Sorry I don-t have a solid answer...lol... but you can drop me a line anytime if you want. Take care..

You have to have the will-power and motivation.
Fight temptation and just say NO... Quitting something isn-t easy especially since it-s an addiction but having the strength in your heart should help you accomplish ANYTHING in this world. Good luck to you! You can do it!
not to be offensive but you should do some research and really look at the consequences. think about what is going to happen in the future if you dont quit. i know its hard but you just try!
stop thinking about it...or if it is very very strong...reduce gradually...then instead of smoking cigarettes smoke narguila...
Stop buying cigarettes and stop smoking..

I think I-ve tried everything known to man and I still smoke, I enjoy it too much.
just research it and see pictures
get a patch
ask your doctor to help you
