nicadrem cq patch cost as much as 5 cartons of cigs i get
some states have smoking cessation campaigns and offer some products to start you on your way. also there are other methods including the National Cancer Institute-s free Smoking Quitline (1-877-44U-Quit). you may be able to find out about the specifics in your state by doing a websearch including the words: (state name), quit, smoking, health department etc.
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
good luck on that journey, it-s better just to quit cold turkey. it may take a long time for u to quit but just keep trying. You-ll get better and better at quitting until u get it.
True, but hopefully once you finish with the patches, you won-t have to buy either, and the savings will quickly equal more than you spend quitting.
I-m not so sure it costs so much to quit. Most local clinics offer smoking cessation classes for free.
then keep smoking and die
your loss

I-ve been sick these past few weeks. I-ve smoked a few cigarettes here and there. I-m usually a heavy chain smoker.

Now I try smoking I feel repulsed. I start gagging and trying to throw up. Does this mean I-ve offically kicked the habit?
yes it does congratulations. now the taste of smoke will just make you feel sick...... meaning you wont want a one. yey!!!!
Two different takes on smoking addiction, both do agree on one point, -once addicted always addicted!-

How do I get my appetite under control after quitting smoking? -

I quit smoking a year and a half ago and have gained 50 lbs. I-d like to get back down to my normal 145 lbs., but it seems like every minute of each day all I think about is food. Am I just bored? With all my extra weight, I don-t have energy to exercise or take up a hobby. Please help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
you eat only twice a day but eat alot those two times so that you are not hungry for a while. Rather than eating small amounts many times a day
There are a number of things you can do to minimize the effect of your increased appetite. For example, eat raw vegetables and fresh fruit for snacks - such as carrots, apples, etc. They have far fewer calories than manufactured snack foods, and no fat. Drink extra water during the day, especially before meals, to increase the feeling of -fullness- and decrease your appetite. Try to do some exercise, even if it-s only a little bit at a time. Walking is one of the best exercises - explore your town or city on foot. Even fifteen minutes at a time will help you, and you can increase that time gradually as you lose weight and become more fit.
One thing that will help you lose weight: diet pills. I was one of those who did not believe in them until I tried it. And I tried a few. The best product I found on the market is made with pure hoodia and it works great! You can go to
http://www.mylnation.info and order you free trial, also you only pay 6.95$ shipping and handling. Good luck!
Congrats on quitting smoking!!!!
I suggest you to get your mind of food by
doing something crafty. Keep your mind of food by doing a puzzle, or paint by numbers or anything that requires you to
keep busy. It-s like quitting smoking. Same deal. Keep the refrigerator stocked at a minimum and with fruits and vegetables that you can chew on. If you get the urge to eat
chew on an apple, carrots, celery. It-s a complete life change just like when you quit smoking. Don-t keep any sweets at home.
And for exercises start walking just for 10 minutes per day and if you can maybe do this 2 x per day. Get yourself pedals that act like a bike and fit under your coffee table.
Not sure what it-s called but you can move your legs while you watch TV/Movie and
get exercise. Hope this helped and good luck and be proud of yourself that you quit smoking. I am still trying.

If i quit smoking now, will i gain weight? -

ive been smoking for like mabey a month and a half. and i have mabey 2-4 cigarettes a day. and on weekends i dont smoke. i guess you can say that im addicted. i dont think ill have a craving though. i olny crave when im depressed. i want to stop because i heard u gain weight. but if i quit now will i gain weight? and if so. is there any way not to gain weight?
if you have only been smoking for a month you won-t change anything. you only gain weight cause you will eat more. that is something that can be controlled.

in your case stop now because smoking is very hard to stop when your hooked.
You won-t necessarily gain weight cause people who quit smoking tend to eat more as an alternative to smoking so um trying chewing gum that might help you.
Cigereetes do keep people skinny so you would probably gain some weight
Quitting smoking does not make you gain weight. The only way you-d gain weight is if you replace your smoking addiction with food.

Why is it SO hard to quit smoking? -

I smoked almost 10 years ..almost every day - was able to put them down like that. No hypnosis, Zyban, patches or gum. I also didn-t turn into a porker. If anything I lost more weight. Same with coffee - liquor which I rarely touch either.
It-s harder than most people think but hardest of all can be the will power and determination of a MAN.Both are true. Can be done.
I have never smoked, but have observed the battles of people around me to stop smoking. For example, my girlfriend. She quit very easily when in love with a non-smoker by putting a potted plant in the middle of the ashtray and then telling her love, -I can′t smoke anymore because there′s a flower in my ashtray.- The flower was then a gift to her love. Later, when infatuation faded and she started to look around for someone else to love, she discovered most of her candidates were smokers and that she still longed, after five years of abstinence, for the fragrance, flavor and feel of a cigarette. She discovered though, that -you can′t have just one- and the instant addiction annoyed her. Now she continues to try to be a social smoker, going through the withdrawal symptoms over and over again...From this example I see that quitting is not the actual problem. It is, first of all, finding the desire in yourself to quit and second of all, not being seduced into going back by sexy people with lighters in their hands offering contact by sharing a taste for tobacco.
TO QUIT SMOKING IS HARD !! I LIKE YOU QUIT WITH NO TROUBLE . I KNOW NOT ALL PEOPLE CAN DO THAT . BUT DON,T QUIT TRYING !!!!! I,M ALSO A RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC AND I,VE BEEN SOBER FOR 32 YR-S . THE 2 BEST THINGS I,VE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF !!! KEEP GOING
its to do with your brain.... when you start smoking it increases the amount of receptors in your brain that crave nicotine.... when you stop supplying it, the receptors go crazy.... there is actually a vaccine available, that cuts off the receptors.... maybe you didnt have alot of receptors or the receptors didnt react to the nictotine.
If you were able to put them down so easy, why in the world did you spend a whole 10 years killing yourself slowing with tar? Not to mention all the second hand smoke you put out in those 10 years! if you were not addicted and it was that easy to just put them down why did you chose to smoke? I don-t understand.

When I quit smoking it was hard, very hard, because I was addicted. I got through it though and am sooo glad I did.

Did the patch help you quit smoking? -

Did the patch help you quit smoking? -

I started using the patch today. I-ve tried cold turkey before, and I was a mess! The patch really seems to help take the edge of. Has anyone been successful using the patch before? If not, what did you use?
I used the patch. Like you, it took the edge off. I had my last cigarette on March 24, 2007.

Good luck!
nicotine patch will help you quit smoking in 15 days or less. iuse this and get 100% results. http://pharmacy-online.tk
I took the patch and zyban. I started at 21 mg on the patch and weened down. Zyban I took for 2 months and then I was nicotine free. Zyban basically made me feel like I didn-t care about tobbacco at all. It made my mouth extremely dry though! I also chewed Alot of gum to keep my mouth busy and to deal with the dry mouth side effect. Good luck!

Why is it so difficult for some people to quit smoking and not others? ? -

Why is it so difficult for some people to quit smoking and not others? ? -

Is there a difference in addiction levels and why?
I was told that second hand smoke was worse than actually smoking. So common sense said to start smoking to stay healthier. I-ve never felt better.
Smoking addiction does not pick people on basis of gender, age, social status or nationality. For as long as a person is capable of sustaining the habit, the smoking addiction will continue.

The habit of smoking turns into a smoking addiction that can be stopped but much willpower will be needed because the smoking habit, as far as the addicted smoker is concerned, has gone beyond what is just a leisurely thing and became a need for one to feel satisfied, fulfilled or happy.

As with a lot of addictions the problem is in the mind, it’s the subconscious that is addicted, and we all have our own way of seeing things.

Despite everything we make our own choices.
But not in our own best interests!!!
Excellent question!

Yes I have noticed that people who picked up the habit just because everyone else was doing and they do it because it is just a habit, then these people have a relatively easy time quitting.

However, the people who actually use nicotine to calm down, these people have a very hard time quitting. They are physically dependent on nicotine. Not only is there the withdrawl of not having the cigarette, but there is also a great deal of anxiety that accompanies the need to calming down effect created by the nicotine.

With the second group of people wellbutrin, clonidine or chantix work wonders. With the first group, cold turkey works the best.
Nicotine is a very interesting drug.

It increases certain aspects of awareness and -brain power- without affecting judgment. The only other drug which can be said to do this is caffeine.

Pregnant women will have those amazing food cravings. Beleaguered husbands will be sent out at two in the morning with instructions to bring home gummie bears, bananas and red meat. Whereas a day later, the list of foods may change radically, with gummie bears, red meat and bananas inspiring nausea if they don-t fit the bill. Some women have even reported feeling cravings for things like chalk and road salt.

It is understood that this is the body-s way of directing the mother to consume all the various building blocks required for a healthy baby to form. Having lived with a friend who was going through this process, I found it amazing that the body could be so intricately aware of its own needs and have such specific control over how it drives the person to collect the shopping list of required ingredients.

I believe that this body knowledge extends to pharmaceuticals as well. People who get a taste of nicotine will understand on a deep level what it does for the brain, and people who have mental imbalances will know to seek it out.

It is a common fact that there is a much higher percentage of smokers among people who suffer from schizophrenia and other such disorders.

Indeed, pharmaceutical companies recognize the benefits of nicotine and are studying ways to use it in various drugs.

http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries…

When I consider all of this, it seems to me that -Addiction- might very well be simply the body shouting out for something it actually has a legitimate use for, and that the whole anti-smoking thing is a rather ham-fisted and thoughtless over-reaction.
addiction is typically genetic. I litterally have TRIED to get addicted to things simply for a -science experiment- of my own. Ive tried smoking cigs for months at a time... all i did was lose weight, and then when i stopped gained weight.. i cannot get addicted i dont know why, ive done drugs yes yes bad i know i know.. ones that are very addicting for weeks at a time and no longer cared to do any of them again.. i dunno, i heard it was all genetic on the drs. tv show.
Some people have more will than others.

I just recently quit smoking and want to start a much healthier life style. Does anyone know if there is a way to clean out your lungs or your body after quitting smoking? Thanks so much
keep working out and eating healthy your lungs can clean themselves out in good time.. by the way congrats on the quitting, good job.
Your lungs will eventually clean them selves out purely by the action of breathing.
Cardiovascular exercise and good old sweating.

How to quit smoking? -

Former smokers only please. Don-t need lectures. Just need methods that you found work.
I smoked and I have quit. First thing I noticed is to be successful I had to really want to quit. Otherwise, I wouldn-t be all to committed. Then I noticed that nicorette really does help. I quit for about six months using that once. I started smoking again though because of the company I kept. Staying away from smokers is really important, or at least asking them to not smoke around you. Then I finally quit on Zyban. I know that it is not necessary to take things to quit, but it really helps.

And if you don-t want to go get a prescription, I suggest you try the gum because it really gets rid of bad cravings making it easier to quit. And remember, even though it has nicotine, it is only for a short while to get you off smoking. Good luck, and I hope you succeed. I am so glad I did because I breathe so much better now and I feel so much better. It is so worth it.
I tried a technique that would have worked for me if I hadn-t had a very high stress day come up right after I got it done. It-s called ear stapling, done by professionals, in my case it was nurses that had opened up their own business. They use a sterile staple and staple your ears in a certain place and the craving went away. It costs about $70.00. I-m a pretty heavy smoker and I had no desire at all for a cigarette. I think if my life had not been so stressful at the time it would have worked for sure.
I know you say former smokers only, but if you don-t mind I would like to give you my opinion. If you don-t want it, just delete it or ignore it. There is no method of things like patches, gums, pills etc, that continue to give you nicotine, that will help you quit. The main ingredient is the will to quit. If you really and truly want to quit, I hope for you the best, just instill that will to quit. Good luck young lady.
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
I started running. Whenever I had the urge to smoke, I went for a run. I think it was the adrenaline and endorphins that took away the edge.
lollipops?
running?
nicorette!
To stop smoking, just don-t give a budget to buy for cigarettes. Always say no money for cigarettes and don-t ever attempt to stay beside the smokers.
If ever you feel smoking, please always think for your loves ones because they are much important than the cigarettes and if you die because of the cigarretes your life-s good accomplishments would be useless. If you die because of cigarettes, your love ones will be taken by others. So, simply stop smoking!

Anybody trying to quit smoking? -

I am trying to quit smoking and could use some moral support from people who know what I-m going through? Any other addicts or successful quitters out there?
I know it seems stupid, but I brought one of those e-books about how to quit permanently without any sort of nicotine replacements. For about a week I was convinced I had wasted my money... but it actually worked. I mean man did it work.

I-ve now been smoke free for a year and I never gained weight or used any replacements. E-mail me i you-d like the address to the site I got it from.
I donot know do u really wanna to quit?

Addicts is nothing it represent illness of will power of a person.
If u really wanna to quit increase ur will power and take alternate. When ever if u are feeling to smoke u keep ur mouth busy like keeping some chocolates, toffees, chewing gums etc.

But lastly i want to say ur will power is neccessay and do some excercise.

mail me if u liked my opinion at
amarsonu@yahoo.com
PLEEEEASSE QUIT!! I quit about a year ago after multiple tries. I was one of those -Oh I just can-t do it- people. But you can do it and you will feel so much better in the long run. (and smell better too) It will be hard for a while but it will get easier just hang in there and think of the money you-ll save! Take it from a girl who knows It is worth every agonizing moment of it!!!
I-m trying (puff - puff) but not doing too good. Thinking about trying hypnotism...Lotsa Luck !
iam a addict, its hard to quit smoking best way is pick a day on your calander on that day quit, throqw away ashtrays do a no smoking in the house rule, take it one day at a time and when you find your self stressed with a cigg. between your lips think of what is pissing you off and tare that ciggerate up, dont you lite it. after a week count the days and tell your self well i havent smoked in so many days why ruin my success, after 21 days you addiction is over now it is all in your head. good luck

Where can I go to get my ear stapled to quit smoking? -

Where can I go to get my ear stapled to quit smoking? -

I believe there is a company called share way or something similar. I cannot find this through a web search.
How would stapling your ear shut help you quit smoking? Wouldn-t stapling you mouth be more effective?
check your local acupuncturist but be careful cause there-s a lot of maybes in there. try mind setting, more inexpensive. i quit smoking and relapsing back to the habit by thinking that -I-m gonna smoke tomorrow-. also try being with someone who doesn-t smoke or who is trying to quit too so you have someone to quit it with.
i-ve never actually heard of that
it is actually using a acupuncture point. I found that the over the counter nicotine gum is really very helpful. It costs about as much as cigarettes at first, but over a period of a few weeks, you will actually be chewing it less. One benefit to the gum is that it allows you to indulge your habit in places that forbid smoking.
What-s the relation between EAR - Smoking
try this site to find acupuncturist in your area.
I .had it done years ago but I can-t tell you a company name, it was done at my doctors office
I have never heard of that, but I do know they have lazer surgery and it is supposed to take away the cravings allowing you to quit smoking.
it wouldn-t work...try fireballs or hot spices when you think about smoking...just have a hot sauce or something
in your local phone book look for acupuncture

Did you notice a big difference in ur skin quality when you QUIT SMOKING? -

just wondering if your skin got even more supple, collagen returning and some elasticity? just wondering it-s all true about smoking once someone starts over a long period of time.
so what-s ur experience so far having quit smoking--ur skin quality? improved? the same?
If your talkin about smokin pot its becuase wen u stop smokin pot evry thing becomes real agian so u start noticing the tiniest differrences because u become more alert in yo thinkin. If your talkin about regular smokin is cuz smokin kills cells in yo body includin skin cells so yo skin will look better cuz ther are not as many dead cells on the surface. So if u quit smokin u r aculy makin a sexyr u.

P.S. If u do smoke pot lose it like i did.I just lost it this week for good.
I-m a smoker and I-ve had poor complexion since my teens. My mum always uses this as a way to get me to quit -Your skin will be much smoother if you stop smoking-. Obviously that didn-t work.

I-ve checked up the net for -proves- on this but nothing really substantiate much. Smoking kills your lungs. Not your skin. Break outs are sometimes caused by stress which ironically smoking helps reduce! Go figure! =)
I noticed a big difference about 2 months after I quit.
I also have had mild-bad acne since 13 and I am almost completely clear. Not to mention my skin glows rather then looking dull and patchy... I defentally think smoking has a huge effect on your skin.
Yes. You become fairer, your skin becomes smoother, the reddish spots are gone. and your lips are red again.
yes i did it seem as if it cleared up some and i don-t brake out any more.
yes everything improved skin color, hair, sexual desire, appetite
go for it
probably less wrinkles around the mouth
i dont smoke
I have never smoked
