NEED HELP! Im going to attempt to quit smoking? -

I-ve been smoking for almost four years and only smoke 6 or 7 cigarettes a day, but on previous attempts to quit I didn-t even last 3 days. I-m already clinicaly deppresed and frankly even the idea of quitting scares the **** out of me but my mom found out I was smoking (I-m only 14) and now I have to quit. Anyone have any good tips? Thx.
Perhaps you should investigate the nicorette activestop program that you can find in a web search for -nicorette activestop-.
YAY quit smoking. :) Im proud of u lol
you started when you were 10?

hmmm
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
switch the way you do things...if you always talk on the phone with a cigarette, talk inside where you can-t smoke...if you usually have a cig after class, have a lollipop or gum. you-re addiction isn-t really very physical, it is psycological...so it is breaking a habit. everytime you want to smoke say -I don-t smoke- you have to repattern your brain. and take it day by day. think of how much money you will save youreself (never mind the health factor) If you spent 5 bucks every 2 days, in one year that would be over 180 bucks!!! reward yourself for going a week without, then two, etc- something small and just be proud of yourself for doing something difficult. you may find you feel better once those nicotine and drug combos in the cigs are out of your system for good as well. good luck.
You have made the right decision, good for you!!

I smoked for 7 years, from 14 to 21. I tried many times to give up, with many different methods: cold turkey, habit replacement, nicotine patches, gum and lozenges... but all failed.

I finally quit using the Allan Carr method. Allan Carr is a guy who wrote a book -Easy Way to Stop Smoking-, and then later developed a program based on the book.

I quit by going to the library and borrowing the book... I read the book that day and haven-t smoked since (it-s been 4 years now). I know it sounds too good to be true, but it works! The book/program has a 95% success rate, as opposed to 40% success from nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).

Now, I am a pharmacy student and part of my job is to sell NRT, but I am always reluctant because I know that you can borrow the book for FREE, rather than pay for NRT (or cigarettes for that matter). As I say to my patients, give it a go. It won-t cost you anything, and if it doesn-t work, you haven-t lost out! All the best.
I used a great technique called EFT. I stopped without having any cravings. It-s a very easy to do, free and efficient solution.
You can find out more information and even get a free (donate if you want) consultation here:

Just stop right now and take up some physical exercise.
After a while, both of these activities will help lift the depression too. Have a bit of pride and confidence in yourself.
first you have to make the decision.
you either smoke, or you dont.
there is no two ways about it.

when you want to stop - which is the only right answer to -should i or should i not- - just STOP.

then drink a glass of water EVERY time you feel like lighting up. remind yourself you are kind to your body, to your money and to your mother by not smoking.

last but not least - find some non smoking friends.

you should be fine.
just do it!
watch the video below and don-t pick one up again. It-s as simple as that.

What is the best and most stress free way to quit smoking? -

I currently smoke about 2 packs of cigerettes a day. I-m 30 and have neen smoking heavy for about 5 years and overall for about 12 years.. I want to stop smoking, but im going thru a period of anxiety and new jobs and other stresses, and would like know a proven way or suppliment to help me with letting the cig-s go

Thanks
i dont know the answer as we are all so different but after a few attempts this time i have given up because i started to workout and run and it was impossible to do both. I enjoy running to much to smoke again. Good luck
Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes.

It sounds like there are many areas of your life that set of a want in you to smoke (stress, anxiety, change etc). When you come across these life factors you need to re wire your thoughts to believe that by having a smoke it will not help you in your situation. This is not as hard as you may think because the reality is; by having a smoke it will not actually help you. It will in fact make your situation worse. We can teach you how to change your though processes so you truly believe this.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, supplements or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

do you want the best or the most stress free?

the best, in my opinion, is keeping yourself busy. for me to smoke 2 packs a day, i need about 2-3 hours of -smoking time-. if you area too busy to find 2-3 hours, then you dont have a chance to smoke. however, being busy for every hour you are awake tends to build stress. but then there is always a solution for that. go out for a run. it will build your lungs back up, and takes away the stress.

second best, go to hookah. most (if not all) hookah tobacco has .05% nicotine, and has been washed free of tar. compare that to the 16mg of tar and 1.1 mg of nicotine you get from one filtered Marlboro, and its basically nothing. you get a buzz (mostly from the lack of oxygen to your head) and you feel relaxed, but there is almost nothing bad in hookah. its basically all sugar. still, breathing in smoke is bad for you, but its nowhere near as bad as the tar and nicotine.

stop smoking, but dont stop the nicotine. wear patches, chew gum, pack dip. have different ways of getting the nicotine you need without lighting up a cigarette.
Start working out. You must have very strong will power.

How do you quit smoking without using any of the gum or patches? -

i have been smoking for about 1 year and really feel like its time to quit. i smoke no particular brand and typically smoke 5 -light- cigs a day.
i saw a guy on the bus the other day that had had a tracheotomy. that-s enough to stop anyone smoking
you could try

or

It seems to me you shouldn-t have too much trouble managing without patches etc, as your habit is light on nicotine and the main problem is dealing with the habitual behaviour. You could try avoiding the situations you enjoy a cigarette with (eg a pint), until the habit-s broken. If you smoke indoors, ban yourself (install a battery smoke alarm above your favourite smoking seat). Winter-s coming, and that should be sufficient incentive to delay going outside for a smoke until the itch has passed.

Finally, put the money you-re saving each day into a jar, and spend it on yourself at the end of the month.
This is exactly what you-re looking for:

It-ll help you quit smoking quickly and without expensive pills, gum or patches. It really works. I highly recommend it.

Tom
just stop smoking it is hard but you should not have too much trouble as your not a heavy or long term smoker
I quit 30 years ago, just by stopping. I was smoking 30- 40 fags a day, and ended up in hospital with chest pain, the doctor told me to quit and I did, there and then with no patches, gum, or any help and it was easy.
You also can do it on your own if you really want to.
Cut from 40 a day to zero by cold turkey, no patches or anything then. Just thought of the money I was wasting, put it in a jar and had a treat each day.
Good luck, you know it makes sense.
the answer is really simple and might seem rediculous but just hear me out. if you want to stop smoking without the gums and patches just don-t do it. if you are really ready to quit you would you would know that enough is enough and today is the day to end the madness.think about the positive you would be doing for yourself if you stop and let that be motivation for you, especially when you get a craving. it-s all in your head.
i smoked for 21 years and gave up two and a half years ago by reading the book -How to stop smoking- by Allen Carr, i picked it up at a second hand book stall at the market for 20p and started reading it when i got home, i gave up smoking that same day and havent touched one since! I then gave the book to my brother and his wife who both gave up smoking too and he then passed the book on, i dont know where the book is now but i like to think its still moving around Britain helping people to give up :D

ive just looked on Amazon and i dont think he does the -How to stop smoking- any more, its now called -Allen Carr-s Easy Way To Stop Smoking-, if its the same book then it might work for you too.
In the Search for questions slot type in -quit smoking- and you will get at least 6,619 results.
well it should be easy for you if you are only a 5 a day, unless you smoke them 5 a day at times of stress or at times in the day when you feel you are losing the plot...i smoke about 20 or so a day and for me to give up without any help would be like hell on earth for others lol... cause you see i hate daft and annoying people but can keep them emotions under control with my ashy friends....it is a good time for you to stop now because for every 1 year you smoke it takes the body 3 years to heal its self after you quit even though you will see a differance 2 days after you stop ie smell taste etc etc.. so go for it and good luck.
Simply stop buying cigarettes. The next thing you know, you cant smoke because you dont have any cigs. Easy. When your work buddies go for a fag, simply dont go. Most people are understanding when it comes to giving up and will be supportive, and maybe a bit jealous of you
Try the inhaler pens,,they work for me,,cut down by 50% in the first day
I used to eat lolly pops and started dating a guy who didn-t know I smoked and hated smokers so I-d hide it and then realized it wasn-t worth it. I also figured out when I did it and altered my habits. I actually bought a stick shift car just so I wouldn-t smoke in the car. Do it now - it sounds like the perfect time for you. Good luck!

I quit smoking because Im trying to get healthy, however;? -

I quit smoking because I-m trying to get healthy, however; I LOVE TO SMOKE !!! Is there anything out there I can smoke that really doesn-t cause harm like cigarettes. I smoke pot and that helps, but I would like something to smoke something on a more regular basis that is not so expensive.

I am thinking American Spirit or Clove cigarettes or something!!!!

Please help, I miss smoking.
Actually, there exists a product for people in your situation. They-re called -electronic cigarettes.- They look like they-re lit and smoke like the real thing by vaporizing the surrounding air so you breathe in and puff out visible -smoke- (water vapor). This way, you can also get the feeling of taking it into your lungs and breathing it back out.

They contain no nicotine, tar, or any other additives that a conventional cigarette does.

If you live in China or Britain, you can check out a brand here:
http://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyle…

If you live in the United States, this is what you-ll look for:
http://www.smokingeverywhere.com/elec_ci…

http://www.smokelessdelite.com/

And here-s a forum for people who enjoy using these products:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/

And that forum links you to:
http://www.disposablecig.com,
and they have a lot of different filter flavors, from tobacco to mint to vanilla to coffee...and that coffee filter makes me want to buy these so I can quit smoking, too!! This link also has the cheapest electronic cigarettes available, but apparently this brand of e-cigs contains nicotine. This isn-t going to pollute your lungs or give off 2nd hand smoke, though.

Anyway, I hope this helps you, and keep up the good work!
Smoke Umm just smoke pot

How can you quit smoking? -

I really wan-t my dad to quit smoking, but it is really hard for him, so besides support, how else can he stop?
I quit smoking by taking Chantix. It is available by prescription only. I had smoked for 35 years and had tried everything to help me quit. Chantix is absolutely the greatest thing on the market. But you have to want to quit or nothing will help you.
I took Chantix for 4 months. Most articles on it tell you to use it for 3 months but I knew I needed it an extra month. And I am proud I continued to take it. I very rarely ever think about a cigarette and when I think about it the thought goes away as quickly as it came. When you start taking it, you continue to smoke and set a quit date. If you do not quit by the quit date, set another date. You eventually figure out that you really are not getting anything out of the cigarette because Chantix blocks the nicotene from getting to your brain. I hope your Dad will at least try it. But I will tell you that the more you stay on him to quit the longer he will smoke.
if u do not want to see a movie, do not pass by the theater.
smoking? do not buy cigs.

it is an addiction, get smokers anonimous info for him. find out where the meetings in the area are held. he has to want to quit, no one can do it for him.
By not buying packs of cigarettes if that-s what you mean. Cold turkey really is the best method so support is all you can offer. Any other method causes a smoker to -miss- cigarettes.
figure out why he smokes to begin with, why he says it makes him -feel- good, and try your best to fill that gap while telling him he needs to stop
The question is, does he want to quit smoking? If he is not really interested in quitting there is basically nothing you can do. Hopefully he really wants to quit.

Perhaps a search for -quit smoking- + -natural ways- might be of interest.

Will the medicine quot;Chantixquot; actually help u quit smoking? -

it depends on the person.
Yes, my sister and my brother-in-law both used it to stop. Both were long-time smokers as well.
I hope to God it does. I am on day 9 of Chantix. I find myself getting busy and not thinking about getting a cig (a great thing!)But I eventually do smoke one when I think, -Oh, I haven-t had a cig for awhile- (a bad thing!)

It is the behavioral habits that are stopping me right now. One more week on Chantix to make sure it is good in my system and I will stop buying them. Like all other long time smokers the physical cravings are what really stop you from quiting. They are just overwhelming. But the Chantix does take away that physical feeling of wanting to put your head through a wall when you can-t have a cig.

Side effects are some sickness in the stomach but nothing too bad. My Doc has high hopes. He said he has seen 99% of his patients quit with Chantix. Even some hard core old guy smokers that he thought would never make it but they did. Try it!

I will update in like 2 weeks. Say a prayer! If I could go one full day without that would be a miracle.
My step mother has benn taking it for 6 weeks and she hasn-t smoked since she started. We-ll she how she does when she goes off.

I have quit smoking, quit gambling ,why cant I quit overeating ? -

I have quit smoking, quit gambling ,why cant I quit overeating ? -

Well smoking and gambling can be avoided. You can choose to stay away from those who smoke, sit in the non-smoking sections at restaurants, etc. You can also stay out of casinos.

However, eating is something different. You can-t avoid food, you have to eat! It-s just hard to slow down once you-ve started, as well as choosing fruit over cake. It-s also difficult to choose good foods since so many are chemically enhanced in labs and whatnot today. Knowing what-s in your food helps a lot.

I also have a problem with overeating. I-m currently -suffering- through a fruit, veggie, and meat only diet. It is very difficult to do, but you just have to think of the bigger picture, the light at the end of the tunnel. Just imagine how you want to look, and how eating better can help you achieve that look as well as become healthier and more comfortable.
Hey.....
I may be pregnant and yeah i didnt use no birth control.
but at least im not eating myself up with junk food.

Because you quit smoking.
Gurl that is one of our number one sins it is hard to not over eat you just have to tell yourself when to stop. Our if you have alot of different foods to choose from just get only a spoon full of it all and it will get you full but not stuffed.
i did the same. it-s almost like i replaced my addiction with cigarettes with food. i gained about ten pounds. after a while like that, i changed my eating habit.
Often overeating is due to emotinal eating. Basically eating makes us feel better. So it is important to identify when you out of comfort of hunger. For more info check out emotional eating article at
http://www.alfitness.com.au

Because you have to eat to live. Therefore it-s necessary to deal with food everyday unlike gambling or smoking which you can avoid completely.
