How did you quit smoking? -

Well im 21, and Ive only been smoking for a year and 3 months, but i want to quit. How did you successfully quit smoking?
Thanks =0)
Well I-m in the process of figuring this one out as well. I decided today was the day I was quitting, and I haven-t smoked in 7 hours or so. I-ve been wanting to quit for a while now. Just sick of the addiction, the cost, the smell... the poor health! I went and bought some nicorette gum but I don-t like it. (it-s really hard and tastes funny after about 5 min of chewing it) I-ve decided to try to go cold turkey, and if I truly need a -fix-, I-ll chew one of those gross pieces of gum. Best of luck to you! We can do this!!

PS. Ignore the rude people. Idk why people who have never smoked answer a question like this! At least you-re quitting the nasty habit!!
I quit after having smoked for 27years ( ugh... I am old), I have been quit since June 21, 2007. I have to admit I did use the chantix drug for 10 days but had a reaction to it and had to stop, fortunately I have managed to stay quit. The cravings can be strong when you are doing things you normally would do when smoking. For me the hardest things to overcome have been wanting to smoke when on the phone or having coffee, now I chew on a straw.
I also tell myself when I have a craving to wait 15minutes and if I still crave it then I can go buy some, thankfully the craving passes.

I hope this helps a little.
Restrict yourself to how many you smoke a day and decrease in number then go onto a nicotine solution to stop the smoking, like nicotine gum, patches etc. I-ve heard lollipops help as it-s got something in your mouth and that.

There are other ways like hypnotisms from tapes but that-s not for everyone.
How did I quit? I made it as awkward as possible to smoke. Used a two foot long cigarette holder. Kept matches and cigarettes in different places. Wrapped cigarettes in saran so they were a pain in the neck to open. And after a couple of weeks of that, just decided that I was stronger than a stupid cigarette and simply stopped. And haven-t had another one since.
You can do it.

Talk to your doctor. They will probably suggest some therapy programs. If you really want to quit then the therapy programs will definitely work. Also stop hanging around people who smoke. The smell won-t help. It will only want to make you do it more.
Just wait untill you get a cold or some virus.... Smoking then just made me feel so much worse I could never do it.... They last about three or four days... Then just hold on and dont slip up the cravings will really be gone after about ten days... I tried the patches but when I got to the end of them they always burned my fingers....
I decided to never start. That made it pretty easy. My brother actually just sort of quit, cold turkey. He had motivation though. His girlfriend didn-t like it, so he stopped smoking for her.
well, shame on you for starting in the first place!!

if i were stupid enough to start, i would use nicotine patches. or just quit cold turkey and deal with the madness.
I never started. That-s how you quit.

I feel like I-m gonna lose my mind. I-ve been a smoker for approximately 28 years. So, I just quit with the help of laser therapy. But I just want that after meal cigarette craving to stop. That-s the worst for me. Anybody have any suggestions?
I can relate to this 1000% I did not do the laser I used the patch and nicatrol inhalers (as your Dr. they are RX only) the inhalers help with the crave and the hand mouth habit. I also chew allot of gum... sugar free. Good luck and if you can make it through the first 72 hrs it gets a little better.
rewards for not smoking like every week. set a goal -after one month of not smoking i purchased a ring i foung on ebay. after 2 months i treated my self to new CD-s i have been wanting to get (u know convert from LP-s to -CD-s) little things like this are good for you... good luck keep it up

First of all good luck to you, I have had many friends that has quit smoking here recently and they are chewing on straws and doing excercises. I know it is very hard. It will get better in time. Keep your head up and don-t give in to the cigarette. As far as how long till u don-t crave, that varies. some people still crave but they get through it! and u will to! hang in there~
Try oatstraw herbal tea. If you want to try licorice root sticks, you need to research to see if it is ok for you first.
i quit 2 years ago and still want cigarettes when i am doing things that i used smoke while i did -- like wait for trains in your car, etc.

You need to find something like relaxes you. Try peppermint tea, you can go to health food stores and get valerian and lobelia drops -- they will help you find them if you don-t know what you are looking for. The old standby gum -- but it didn-t do much for me.
Well smoker here, have tried to quit. But haven-t been successful. Seems to me if you have gone 24 hours and not smoked, and haven-t chocked the living sh#t out of someone that desperately deserved it, then your doing pretty darn good. As for the craving, sure it varies from individual to individual. Hey I-m so proud of you for quitting. You get a standing ovation from me. If you back slide, I have heard hypo sis may help. Been thinking of trying this hypnosis thing myself.
It varies, sorry, wish I could tell you tomorrow was the last day you would crave it. I-m glad to hear you made that choice, hope you stick with it.
I-ve smoked for almost 40 years, I have quit a few times, but when I would get stressed, then I-d smoke one and was back on them again. Even now the dr. tells me I have chronic bronchitis and starting with emphysema and if I quit now then my lungs will heal some. My brother-in-law has been quit for over 30 years now and he told me that the craving NEVER goes away. I have tried patches, nicorette gum, cold turkey, the inhaler and several other things, but I still can-t stay quit.
I hope you succeed my dear, each day will be a little easier.
My problem is the idea of a cigarette in my fingers and the action of bringing it to my lips. This may sound crazy, but it is that habit.

God bless you in you endeavor.
Never.

Seriously - you will always crave smoking to some degree or another.
Generally after about 2 to 6 weeks the addictive effect of the nicotine has
been washed from your system, but your brain has been fundamentally
altered, so it will always want it.

However, after 2 to 6 weeks, it will be much easier to forget about the
craving. We all have cravings from our childhood that we simply put
asside because we have to - smoking will eventually be like those.

However, you may find from time to time that a whiff of cigarette smoke
makes it all come back - at least for a short time.

You can do it, however. Millions have and the statistics on mortality
after quitting smoking are remarkable - and I-ve seen what the lung
of someone who has been smoking for only 10 years looks like. Its
amazing how much your body can recover given a chance.

When was the last time the fact that you couldn-t suckle your mother-s
breast or run away from someone who was being verbally mean to you?

You can control these things. Its hard - but between the various meds
that are becoming available and the fact that its just getting more and
more annoying to find places to smoke, it isn-t impossible.

Scratch the walls and yell at puppies for a few weeks. It will be worth it.

I promise!
i smoked for fifteen years and the year after my mother passed away i gave up smoking i thought i was going to lose my mind but i started doing crafts keeping my hands busy and keeping some candy on hand like hard candy something to just to keep my mind off of smoking i found too that cutting a drinking straw in half and putting a little tissue or paper towel in one end of it and just puffing on it like a cigerette taking draws and stuff calms you down i have been quit smoking now for five years february will be six years for me and still times i feel the urge for one until i get around one of my sisters who chain smoke and the smoke gags me and they stink i never realized how bad a person smells while smoking until i quit and all smells and tastes are so much stronger......good luck....
the cravings never stop I quit for 3 years and the cravings were still there not like stomach turning cravings but just that mental addiction craving. Then i decided to bum one and that wasn-t to bad but as soon as I bought myself a pack It was over. I don-t understand why gas stations don-t sell single cigarettes for that everyonce in a while crave, I yeah I know why they don-t its because they want our money. cigarettes are more addictive than heroin because, and its not so much as the withdraw symptoms as it is you can get them on any corner in any town no matter who you are.
I quit smoking 4 years ago. Once in a while I will be around some one that is smoking and it will smell SO good. You may be tempted to -bum a smoke-. Don-t do it! You-ll bum another and another. Pretty soon you-ll tell yourself that you can-t keep bumming smokes, so you will buy one, and only one, pack of cigarettes. At least that is what you plan. Chances are you will start smoking again. Remember, just as an alcoholic can-t have just one drink, neither can an ex-smoker have just one smoke.
It depends on the individual. First of all Cigarettes contain NICOTINE which is a compound that the Body can create when you ingest NIACIN or your body can synthesize Niacin which IS a type of Nicotine Compound when necessary from the Essential Amino Acid L-TRYPTOPHAN. Niacin is called also NICOTINIC ACID. Nicotine from Cigarettes interferes with the Brain Receptors which uptakes Tryptophan to convert it into Serotonin and ultimately this leads to Melatonin with the Help of Vitamin B-5(Pantothenic Acid). Nicotine screws all of this up because your body makes a junky inferior form of Niacin from the Cigarette Nicotine which can then hold your Nervous System hostage by making it dependent on this outside source of Nicotine which can hurt the Brain-s ability to make its own Neurotransmitters. When that happens this creates a Serotonin deficiency which leads to irratiblity, moodiness,-worse sleeplessness because Serotonin is what keeps people upbeat and Happy. Nicotine also interferes with L-TYROSINE uptake L-TYROSINE is converted into EPINEPHRINE AND NOREPINEPHRINE (Adrenaline) these lead to L-DOPAMINE which is also a mood enhancer and necessary for Sexual Desire. If your L-Dopa levels are balanced during the day and Serotonin at night along with sufficient intake of B-VITAMINS which is necessary for overcoming any addiction and Nicotine is no exception one could slowly recover. Also depending on how long you have smoked you need to have a good ANTI-OXIDANT supplement a good product is ENVIRO-DEFENSE FROM RAINBOW LIGHT. This is a good product for helping the body recover from long term Cigarette smoking also SMOKE SHIELD BY NEW CHAPTER is very good and also ULTIMATE RESPIRATORY CLEANSE BY NATURE-S SECRET is another good product. Depending on what you are willing to do if your diet is decent you add a good Multi-Vitamin ,A lot of Vitamin-C , a good ANTI-OXIDANT and you add L-Tyrosine in the morning and L-Tryptophan at nighttime before bedtime in the long run this should give you some good results. I hope this is helpful Be Well.
It takes a lo-o-o-ong time to get over the cravings. Hang in there and one day you-ll wake up and not be able to remember exactly when you quit...
First of all, you must really make up your mind that you want to quit or else nothing you try will be successful. I am an ex-smoker who smoked for several years before quitting. One day I saw a program on TV where a doctor spoke about the effectiveness of using biofeedback in quitting smoking and drugs. What he explained was that when you are trying not to do something, the more you try to ignore it the more your brain will work against you and make you want to do it. So, his advice for quitting smoking was this: for many smokers the most difficult time not to have a cigarette is usually after a meal or when you are having your coffee, as well as, when someone else is smoking; the best thing to do at that point is, if you feel the craving to light up is overwhelming, just acknowledge to yourself that -yes- a cigarette right now would be great, but I am not going to do it. By acknowledging your desire you are tricking your brain so that it doesn-t work against you. Also, address each incident of craving one at a time. In other words, don-t look at it with the thought that -oh no, I have to face the rest of my life without a cigarette.- Just address each craving as they occur using the mindset as outlined above. I tried it and boy did it work for me. So, the key is, don-t deny your cravings. Admit them, but don-t give in to them. By following this method it took me only a few weeks to get past the worst of it and then I was fine with it.

How can I quit smoking cigarettes?
First make up your mind you will quite. Then everytime you think you need a cig. chew some gum. Or eat some sun flower seeds. It will keep your mouth occupied and make it easier
I quit smoking a 20 year, 2 pack a day cigarette habit 22 years ago. After 3 months, it was like I was never a smoker. I unlearned the habit.

You can too one day at a time but you will have to make shifts in your thinking. There will be increased inner tension for about 3 months and you can take care of yourself by going for massages during this time. After 3 months the worst will be over.
I tried like 10 times to quit smoking. Longest period was maybe a week! All the time i was thinking about smoke. I fail and fail again. No apothecary did not help me and i was not mentally to strong to quit!
And one day i met my old classmate who was smoker to and he give that web site what helped him.Now he has not smoking many years and i about 4 months and think i ever will.
Hopefully it helps u to!!

Is it true that if I quit smoking today my breath would still smell like smoke for two weeks? -

I read somewhere that the tar in my lungs will still give off a smell on my breath even if I haven-t actually had a cigarette recently ... is this true?
no.

two weeks? how silly. use listerine and 99.9% of detectable stench goes away immediately.

cheers!
Yes, its true. Also true that clothes and car and home will smell of smoke for quite some time. I quit smoking a month ago and still releasing tar from my lungs. But will get better with time.
yes it would, but a friend of mine brushed her teeth everyday and gargled. She washed all her bedding, sheets, blankets, pillows and casings, curtains all her bathroom towels, rugs and bought a new shower curtain. then had her rugs washed and cleaned by professionals. Took every ones cloths and got them dry cleaned and underwear washed. And after a few weeks her house smelled good enough to go visit her all the time. Her friends started coming around more too.
In most cases yes, your breath will still smell bad for 2 to4 weeks(or more).. Mints - mouthwash will only coverup the problem that-s coming from your lungs. Basically the lungs act as gas filters, taking CO2 out - allow O2 in. The lungs can heal themselves if given the chance. Stop smoking AND eating properly AND execising properly will give the whole body a fighting chance.
not true, but everything you own would still stink.
Yes it is.
who cares its still better for you to quit smoking period!!! its the most disgusting thing you could ever do in your life!!
SMOKE WEED EVERY DAYYYYYY
You will have bad breath permanently now unless you use mouth wash products and such. All the tar in the cigarettes has now stuck to your lungs and turned them black, this is pretty much irreversible unless you have surgery now and I for one don-t pity you. There-s clear warnings on every pack of cigs you buy and it-s your own fault you have bad breath now.

I smoked marijuana for 6 months daily, and have quit smoking for 81 days. will i pass a lab urine drug screen? -

i only am 5-9 160lbs. I drink at least 50 oz of water, plus gatoraide and juice (oj and pure cranberry) a day.
mostly,
I think you will. I saw a thing on this show MANswers and people have gotten high the day before the test drank 2 gallons of water and passed. Another trick was take 2 asprin before just to be sure, or work out, or a spa to sweat it out if your worried. But from experience I think you will pass a urine test. Not a blood test though.
Yeah, I would think so too. If you know when the test will be, I would maybe not do any strenuous exercise for the couple of days before. Iirc marijuana chemicals partition into fat and could be released were you to do strenuous exercising.
THey prbably wont but just in case drink a lot of water. Not too much -cause urine has an acidic value and water doesn-t. If they see that your urine doesnt have an acidic value (from the water) than they know you-ve got something to hide.
Don-t worry if its only a urine test because marijuana only lasts in the body for at least 90 days if they complete a hair follicle test but since they only are doing a urine test it should not show up on any test results.
You probably will but may not. That is the answer. Just drink a ton of water before the test so your urine is very dilute. This may help.
Urine you might, but hair you won-t. Hair will go back up to 10 years.
probly

How long before the lungs are clear and my body rids me of the damage I have done to myself from smoking for 38years. When will I stop dreaming about smoking? When I wake from those dreams I am really upset with myself until I realise that it was a dream.
Different parts of your body will recover at different rates. Be patient with yourself and keep telling yourself what a great person you are!

These issues will peel off one by one until they are all gone.
I quit smoking cold turkey too - in 1972! Never smoked again.

i stoped 12 years ago. ami healther ...im sure iam....do i feel better after stoping...NO....do i still want a cigarette.....hell yes....does my food taste better ....NO....do i sleep any better ....NO.......does sex last longer ....NO(doc said it would) but then after all i stoped so i would live longer.....................
Your lungs will start to clear immediately. You will never repair any of the damage done to your lungs. Once the alveoli are destroyed they never grow back and you may end up with lung problems in a few years. It is good you quit. After 38 years of smoking it is normal to have those dreams, they will go away soon. If you are on a patch they can cause you to have those dreams. Good luck
You will be reminded of the -good old days- every time you get a whiff of someone-s cigarette smoke or see a butt laying in your driveway. It took me six months of trying every day, just to quit completely. It took me over one year in addition to get over the craving.
I cannot say I ever noticed feeling better after I quit, which was 30 years ago. You have no way of knowing if smoking caused any damage, either temporary or permanent, unless something shows up in the future.
Bad dreams are something some people have to live with. My worst dream, still plaguing me for over 30 years: I dream that I cannot make it on the outside and have to go back in to the Army to survive. If I have that dream tonight, I am going to blame you.
usually 2-4 more weeks depending on how strong your body is
Sorry...But If you smoke for like 38 years your lungs are already VERY damage,The-re is nothing you can do about it...till you die

I need to lose weight and quit smoking, how do i do it? -

im thirty yrs old iv been smoking for eight yrs. i have been off work for almost a yr. (on medical leave) iv probably gained fifty pounds since a iv been off. im really starting to get depressed about wheezing and breathing hard, he$$ and about being so dag on fat. please someone out there help me...........
At age 13, and before then, I was a fat pig. I lost the weight by only eating one regular meal a day. It-s not the best/most healthy way to do it, but it worked. Now, weight-management is a constant struggle. I recommend that you do the obvious things. You should try to exercise, drink lots of water, snack less, eat more fruits n- vegetables, try to cut-down on your cigarette smoking(if you smoke full-flavor cigarettes, switch to lites, if you smoke a pack a day, try to reduce it by 1 cigarette a day). The main thing, I think, is to be patient and realistic. You did NOT gain the weight in a few days and you will NOT lose the weight in a few days. Also, socializing can make it difficult to lose weight, given that much socializing involves eating n- drinking. The main thing is to take it in steps. Try to eat smaller portions and eat more slowly. Try to chew each bite at least 15 times, even if it-s mashed potatoes, or something else, which is real soft. Only you can control how many calories you take in and how much tobacco you use. Good luck, and try to support Hezbollah!
I dont recommend doing both at the same time as this will get very emotional for you and you will only set yourself up for failure. You have to be carefull that you dont start supplementing one thing for the other. The reason why people gain weight when the give up cigarettes is because they eat instead of smoke. If you give up smoking first maybe put the money away that you spend on cigarettes each week and when you-re ready you can use this money for a gym membership or a personal trainer. Eating healthy fresh foods is also alot cheaper than fatty fast foods. Just dont buy the stuff and eliminate the temptation. Go for a walk when you crave sweet things or cigarettes, i guarantee that when you get back the craving will be gone.
Good luck :)
believe in yourself. You can do it but remember -if its to be, its up to me-
Top weight loss tips

Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.

* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.

* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.

* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.

* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.

* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.

* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.

* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.

* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!

* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

Hi
This plan worked for me to lose weight so here goes,

I saw it from another YAHOO ANSWER ok this is for you
http://www.cinchplan.com/thehealthyway

When you eat unhealthy for such a long time, your blood changes in such a way that it cannot carry toxins and heavy metals out of the body. Also unhealthy eating results in unhealthy excretory organs. If the body cannot get rid of waste then it stores them in fat bone and muscle which can fool people into thinking that they are over fat, but rather over toxic. The body stores them to keep them from damaging organs and out of circulation. Also heavy metals and toxins all carry a positive charge so the body considers them to be electrolytic, so the body will store more water which just makes you look even fatter.

Trick is in most cases get rid of the toxins and heavy metals and you will find the weight will come of extremely quickly even without excercising. The body will do anything to get healthy given half a chance and it sees toxins as extremely unhealthy.

What happens is eat healthy (lots of raw vegetables) and it changes the blood and organs in a way that that it can start to get rid of toxins in the blood at the particular time. In the body things move from high concentration to low concentration. Get rid of toxins in the blood and guess what you have low concentration in the blood and high concentration in fat, bone and muscle so they end up coming out and as long as you keep eating healthy the exchange will continue to take place.

Good thing for you is the fat stores seem to go first then muscle then bone.

The best thing to do is eat lots of raw vegetables. I cant stand raw vegetables but I love them when they are all blended up with some all natural fruit juice.

Avoid as many toxins as possible.

You want to get your blood more alkaline, if you are fat then you can bet your acidic.

Visit this site: Its easily the best

http ://home. bluegrass. net/~jclark/alkaline_foods. htm

Depening on how fat you are its really not good to do intense hard workouts, it can indirectly make you even fatter. As you produce lactic acid the body uses alkaline stores to carry it out of the body, so if your short on stores in the first place its only making matters worse. For the time being dont do anything that makes you out of breath. The body wants to be healthy and if your struggling to breath then thats your bodys way of telling you that it is struggling to remove the lactic acid you have produced, its telling you to slow down. (breathing is one of the body-s ways to maintain ph balance in the blood) you will learn all this when you visit the website.

Also the best thing about eating not just healthy foods but alkaline forming foods is the body night and day even when you sleep, especially when you sleep will be detoxifying itself, hence losing weight.

Aslo it increases your energy levels, heavy metals displace magnesium, muscles need magnesium to contract, so eliminate heavy metals and then magnesium can get to it-s binding site resulting in more potentially expendable energy.

Bottom line get healthy by eating healthy and the body will by itself asap get back to a healthy weight range which is deemed attractive to the human mind.

Iam a personal trainer and am a health nut so i know what im talking about.

I can-t remember who said it, but one of my favorite quotes is about smoking. -Quitting-s easy - I-ve done it a thousand times-.

Quitting permenantly is another story. I am a smoker. I don-t want to quit, but wish I wanted to quit. This is what I am doing in the mean time...
I don-t have the ultimate desire to quit, but want to be healthier so I-ve done a few things to help a bit.

1. I excercise more. Some studies say that those who smoke and excercise regularly are healthier than those who don-t smoke or excercise at all.
2. I take breaks from smoking. I know smoking is effecting my health when I become really tired for 3 or more days for no reason, my sinuses/allergies are acting up more than usual or I have a lot of trouble sleeping. I then take about three days off from smoking and feel better.
3. I drink a lot of water. This curves appetite as well as cigarrette cravings.
4. Keep busy as much as possible. When the mind is off of cigarrettes, the desire is gone. I don-t know about you, but the no smoking adds on television and on billboards everywhere are the worst things for me. They just remind me of the fact that I smoke and trigger the need.

Not sure if this is anywhere near Dr. recommended, but it may help a bit until you are completely ready and determined to quit - if that-s where you are at this time
(1) To lose weight u have to:
(a) exercise regularly and
(b) reduce quantity of food u eat.
However, u should consult physician/dietitian for the type and
time of exercise and also for the requirement of food to keep
ur body fit.
(2) To quit smoking:
think why u smoke?
* smoking is not necessary for body.
* it does not increase smartness.
* it does not increase intelligence.
* it does not reduce tension.
* it has a very bad smell which u don-t like.
Believe these points and decide not to smoke. Towards this
decision keep ur will-force strong enough. Only ur mental
strength can help u keeping ur decision going....

What is a good method for easing into an exercise plan and quitting smoking? -

I have smoked regularly for 2 years and am ready to quit. I don-t want to gain weight after I quit. It-s not as if i-ve been totally lazy, but I would like to gradually build up my endurance again. Any tips?
it took me about 2-3 tries, but I quit smoking and started running. i previously ran cross country in high school, but got adrift in college smoking/partying. i accomplished this change by:

1. Being consistent. Making sure I walk/ran a set distance every day at the same time. It was a park across the street (did one 2 mile loop) every day at the same time.

2. Improving my speed through interval/burst running. I started off walking mostly, but did small bursts of running to pressure my lungs/cardiovascular system. Eventually my intervals got longer until I was able to run the whole circuit. It took me nearly a month or a month and a half after about 2-3 years of smoking a pack a day.

You may have been smoking longer, I don-t know. But I realized I was on the wrong track and it was pretty hard to quit and get healthy, but I did it.

I would suggest you look up terms like Endurance/Running on the web. There are a lot of simple schedules/routines to follow. The best thing to do is make sure you are really stressing your lungs/body (don-t over do it). You have to get your heart going.
Start walking up to 30 minutes a day. You will need to cut down on calories because the average quitter gains 10-20 pounds in 6 months.
