25 ways to quit smoking? -

I do NOT smoke. i need 25 ways for a school project. can you tell me 25 good ways to quit?
No, but I-ll tell you the one weird way that worked for me...

Cinnamon sticks. I chewed on cinnamon sticks. They taste good, but are not overpowering, and are about the same size and shape of a smoke. So it kept my hands busy.
A big part of smoking for me was being bored...that-s when I wanted to smoke most, when I had nothing to do. So that really helped.
One modern way to help stop smoking would be to buy the electronic cigarette, it looks just like a real cigarette and when u inhale it the end lights up like a normal cigarette, you buy cartidges for it that give you the nicotine and that slightly realistic tobacco taste, It also gives off some fake smoke to give it a more realistic affect

Ive decided to quit smoking, need help!? -

last night as i lay in bed gasping for air, i finally decided to quit smoking. i have bronchitis pretty bad right now but dont have insurance to see a doctor. i know that if it gets any worse, which it usually does, i will have to go to the ER. I was wondering if anyone has some good advice to keep myself on track. It has been 7 hours since my last cigarette and with a two years old running amuck it has been hell.
I used this site when I quit and it was a real lifesaver. Take the time to check it out (its free too which is great). Gives you lots of tips, answers to questions and support all day and all night.

Good luck!

Try some cinnamon suckie candies, or any kind of suckie candy, or even sun flower seeds can help keep your mouth busy. Also call 1-800-NO BUTTS and they can hook you for free with the nicotene patch to help you quit smoking. Good luck and congrats on making such a tough decision, Oh ya and there is also a prescription they can give you called welbutrin, but being since you don-t have any medical coverage, I would call the NO BUTTS number so you can get help for free.
I-m on week 7, and no relapse,

I can say that on the fourth day you will start to feel better, that-s the day i got out and ran a mile(that-s really not that far) and i coughed and coughed and got some of that bad stuff out. now i run every other day and feel great, i don-t feel sluggish any more or tired all the time.I know its hard, you always want to set time aside for that little puff puff. well ignore that and try and set something else in its place, like something that takes care of your body, like brushing your hair or applying skin lotion. anything that works, really. Oh and i have a 2 year old too, and i run and roll with him and -fly- around the house all the time, i love to see him laugh and giggle when i am playing with him.Good luck, you have a very special friend there that needs you and wants you and no one else. Take care.
Try running amuck with the two year old. When you exercise with your children you can do things together, it will take your mind off smoking, and it will help open up your lungs. I don-t know how brochitis might affect that, but hey I never said I was a doctor.

Plus you should smoke weed. I agree with my Nappy Princess up there.
if you really want to quit you will be fine ---- just a little uncomfortable for a few days but then it-s all in your head.
this is happining because your craving for fags.Try chewing gum to stop cravings.
I went to my doctor and started taking a new prescription medication that really worked for me. It is called Chantix. I had tried everything. You can look it up at www.chantix.com or call 1-877-CHANTIX. Many people need to take it for three months. The least expensive pharmacy was Costco. Good luck!
you cant take care of your child if you die, go to the er now.
It-s great that you want to quit. I really recommend this site to help you be successful:

Patches, pills and Gum don-t work. The process in this program really does work.

Tom
im quitting right now myself, im on day 13. I used the patch for the first couple days, my partner is using the gum. If you use either, make sure you do steady usage, remember to put the patch on every morning, or remember to chew a new piece of gum every hour -set an alarm, it helps-.

Another thing to remember, cravings will go away wheather you smoke the cigarette or not. Just keep saying you dont need it, and within 2-15 minutes, you wont anymore because the craving will go away. Talking to people and having people support you helps.

Also, if you cheat -try not to of course- Its not the end of the world. Just find out why you did it, avoid the situation, and dont do it again. Dont do what we did and every time we cheated, started smoking again -weve been trying to quit for 6 months now-.

Good luck!
Congratulations! Try nicorette gum of patches
It only takes three days for the nicotine to leave your system. Then it is a mental battle. A tough one at that! The best thing to do is keep busy. Keep some candy and water at hand and every time you feel like your missing something eat some candy or drink some water. It worked for me. After the first three days you should notice that the physical cravings aren-t very strong anymore. Once you are here you have made it through the hardest part so hang in there. The only way to quit smoking is to NEVER take another puff again. Not socially, not when your drinking, never. Once your brain reaches a level of nicotine addiction it will never go away. When you go back to smoking you pick up right where you left off. Sometimes worse. So no cheating. Other than that I would suggest strengthening your will to quit by doing some research.
Check out this website for further inspiration

Read the nicodemon-s lies page. Very helpful! Good luck!
Firstly, congrats. This is a hard thing to do but it will pay off soo much in the long run. Plus... think if the cash you-ll save!

You need to find a substitution. When you crave a smoke, insert substitution here. I think carrots are good... those baby carrots. Have one or two when you want a smoke. Others prefer sun flower seeds... but you-ll find your vice.

When you want a cigarette, wait a few minutes. Try to think of something to do instead of smoking; you might chew gum or drink a glass of water

If you want to ween yourself off, try buying cigarettes that you absolutely cant stand!

Change your morning routine. When you eat breakfast, don-t sit in the same place at the kitchen table. Stay busy.

Good luck!!!
As a healthcare provider I have been prescribing Chantix for my patients. The success rate is over 80%. Look it up on the website. Its a great new med to help beat tobacco dependency. My patients have loved how it worked for them.
I know many people who have found this book helpful. They also have a version specifically aimed at women. Good luck!

Edit: I have to disagree with everyone that says to use a substitute. The problem with smoking isn-t just the nicotine, but even more so the habit itself--the oral fixation, etc.... Even if you replace it with something healthy such as carrot sticks, sunflower seeds, or whatever, it still is going to make it easier to start again in the future; you haven-t gotten out of the habit of putting something to/in your mouth. Also the book I was referring to in the link is called -The EASYWAY to stop smoking- I have known this book to help a lot of people using no gums, patches or other alternatives.
Carrot sticks, straws, tooth picks, talking with people that don-t smoke, and pray a lot. No luck......simply Bless you.

I have spots since i quit smoking why? -

i have never in my life had spots even when i was a teenager i did not have them but now i have painful spots on my face and somtimes on my body too.i get a new one each day.
why though i quit smoking in august i have been a smoker since i was 12 years old and never had a problem now i do.
As you quit in August, cannot see why this is still happening, if it is due to smoking. It may be an immune system problem, unless you have had a major illness recently. Spots are caused by bacteriums, not sugar
i have the same problem aswell, i quit smoking back in january 2008 and its now july and durin that time my spots have gotten worse, hey i thinkin about smokin again to be honest. i miss them.

your body is cleaning itself, all the toxins are coming out.
This is your bodies natural reaction and getting rid of the toxins. Try to drink lots of water - boring I know, instead of carbonated drinks, try sugar free gum if you-re using chewing gum, and not too many sweet things. Well done for giving up I wish I could.
We eliminate around 40% of waste through our skin so I would say your body is cleaning the junk out of your system. May find that having a short course of colonics helps.
I guess its the withdrawal effect,
Just observe for a little while, maybe its your bodies response in quitting smoking. But if the spots already give you pain..
I suggest you better check your doctor.
your body it getting rid of all the **** that has been building up over time that your were smoking. i gave up smoking also and this happened but in a few weeks every thing will be fine. trust me
Yes it is because of the toxins cleansing your skin and body.
It wont last long ...
Probably about 2 months at most.
It is worth it though .. its so nice not smoking .
well dont for quiting too!
xxx
it could be your body-s way of cleansing itself,
it may have nothing to do with your smoking and may just be part of your life for the present,
after stopping smoking myself my eating/ drinking habbits increased, are you taking in more sugar than before (I get spots if I have too much sugary food/drink.
i think this is all the toxins in your body coming out thwy will clear up eventually you need to make sure you are getting enough vitamins and minerals as well

The best remedy for quitting smoking is the homeopathic remedy CALADIUMS 1M(1000) just one dose a week first thing in the morning with nothing to eat 30 minutes before and after taking the remedy. 3 doses in three weeks. Do not exceed the given dosage please.
Take care and God Bless you !
Just quit. Plain - simple and save your money... Seeing how much cigs cost these days, you-ll be rich in no time...!

I have cut back from a pack a day to 2-5 a day 3 months ago. I just can-t seem to go all the way and give them up. I am considering going to a hypnotist (my aunt did this 15yrs. ago and has not had the urge to smoke again). Has anyone else done this method before and if so what were your results?
I have not tried hypnosis. I began smoking at the age of 15 and finally quit for good at the age of 57 (a year ago), when I was at a pack a day. Even tho- all the experts say you have to go cold turkey, I think that just increases the craving. This is how I did it. Everytime I wanted a cigarette, I only smoked half of it. So, I immediately cut my intake in half. After a few weeks of doing that (gives your body time to adjust to less nicotine), I would only take about 4 puffs, put it out and save it for the next craving. After a few weeks of that, I went to 2 puffs, then one puff (where one cigarette could last me a day or two). My body gradually got used to doing without the nicotine and I got to a point where I said, -when this pack is done, I-m not buying anymore-. That was a year ago. Recently, I stayed with my son, who smokes, and took a drag off his cigarette. I didn-t like the taste and it hurt my throat. If I can do it, you can do it, because I loved smoking!!!
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
I have heard about this hypnosis thing as well my friends mom did it too and hasn-t smoked since. Well if it does work let me know because I-m still trying to get my sister to quit smoking.

I quit smoking 4 days ago w/ the patch, I noticed bad smells everywhere why? -

I quit smoking 4 days ago w/ the patch, I noticed bad smells everywhere why? -

Lol cause your nose is waking up. Most likely food will taste better to you so be careful you don-t over indulge. When I quit I coudln-t believe how bad people who smoke smell... :)
Your habit blocked everything to your sense of smell to your sense of taste, now that you have quit it has opened up senses that you have not noticed. Its good that you quit now you can smell things that are good and bad.
smoking blocks your sensitivity to smells. Now that you have quit smoking your senses are working normally again and will notice lots of smells you didn-t notice before
Your sense of smell is improving. You-ll probably notice food tastes better also. Be careful not to over eat.
Ahhh, you-re regaining your sense of smell that was dulled by the cigarette smoke.
Normal phase. Stick too it . Good luck.

Has anyone had any negative side effects when taking Chantix to quit smoking? -

Has anyone had any negative side effects when taking Chantix to quit smoking? -

Few people get negative side effects from usng Chantix and those that do generally don-t have them for very long. For more Chantix information, please click the following link:
http://www.121doc.co.uk/affiliate/script…

Today is day 8 for me on Chantix. I will tell you the side effects I have experienced. First and foremost are these insane dreams. They are so vivid and real that I think they actually happened. Last night I dreamed my middle son told me my dogs tore up my fence, so this morning I got up, got dressed to go fix the fence and it was in perfect shape. When I called my son, he informed me he never sopke to me about the fence.

This is one example among many. It is almost twilight zoney stuff. I either saw a great commercial for sunless tanning lotion or I missed my calling and should be writing commercials! The dreams are not scary or spookey just so real you actually think things happned to you.

The other side effects I have had include EXTREME tiredness. I am a go go go type person, my daughter in law says I never sit down. But since I have been taking chantix it seems an effort to simply walk to the kitchen for a drink. Now, if you could go to sleep that would be great, but I have had a maxium of 2 hours uniterrupted sleep in the past eight days. I find myself waking up, walking around the house for a couple of hours and laying back down. I have even begun coming home from work at 5 and napping on the couch for an hour or so. I normally get between 6-8 hours of sleep a night, no problem. So, this new sleeping pattern is killing me. Oh Yeah! Dont forget the two hours I do sleep I have conversations I would swear were real!

The upset stomache has not been that big a deal for me, it passes quickly. I have noticed headaches and swelling but not enough to make me want to stop taking the medicine.

I keep hoping the dreams stop and I can get some sleep.
I used chantix to quit smoking the only side effect I had was after I had used it for three days I got sick and threw up when I smoked a ciggarette and that was it other than really bad acne for about a month. I think chantix was great I have been smoke free for almost 3 months now . But chantix will make you blow chunks throw up .

Help! I quit smoking and have been gaining .5 to 1 lb a day. How do I lose it? -

Help! I quit smoking and have been gaining .5 to 1 lb a day. How do I lose it? -

I-m a woman, so my weight fluctuates throughout the month. Recently, I have been gaining a half pound to a pound almost every other day. I weighed 142 two months ago and now I weigh 152. I have been quit for about 49 days, but this is really depressing me. I-m starting to feel like starving myself, because I just don-t know how to get rid of this weight. I workout 2- 4 days a week and my weight has been pretty stable the past few years. But now I am starting to feel panicky and confused - I lost weight 4 years ago and I just don-t want to be fat again.
Go for a Run, Walk or Bike Ride.

Breathe deep and enjoy the rush.
It sounds like you are replacing cigarettes for more food. When you feel the urge to smoke grab a fruit or go jogging.
You should go and see a doctor.
Are you substituting food for the cigarettes? Often that-s what happens when someone quit smoking is they start eating more. And it-s often just because they need something to do with their hands. If you are eating more, try eating pieces of fruit or vegetables rather than chips or candy.

The easiest answer though is to either reduce your caloric intake or exercise more.
well first that is great that its been that long keep it up..... i would try having alot of health things around so if you feel like eating anything. good luck and keep it up...
Thank god, someone else in my position. I just said the other day I would rather start smoking again and lose all the weight I put on and keep it off. I don-t want to live life fat and depressed. I am working out same as you but I can-t see a difference, uhhhhh, I guess we just have to keep at it. I am going to try the 5 meals a day, apparently it is the way to go, you should try that, good luck. Seriously, congrats on quitting.
The whole smoking /weight thing is normal, key is to increase physical activity, don-t worry too much about diet other than healthy and moderation so forth, low fat, low salt etc. That said, you need to move more than you take in, and continue to do so.

Exercising for say... 1 hour 2 days a week will not boost metabolism. however working out 20-30 minutes a day 4-5 times a week will raise metabolism. this weight did not appear overnight, nor will it leave and stay gone over night.

I know this sucks, i was slowed down by an injury, and i saw my own weight go up. again not overnight but still. so what I-m doing to achieve my goal is same as i had said i try to be as active as I can, and watch what i eat,

ALSO don-t beat yourself up cause you had a double cheeseburger and fries, just move more. That means if i want this candy bar that = 20 minutes on the bike, pedal too, don-t just sit like some of us ;-)
chew gum.. when ever you feel like eating.. cuz your not that hungry you just an urge for a the cig..
Just so you know, it isnt that you get hungier after quitting smoking, it-s the HAND TO MOUTH CONTACT that you-re missing sooo.....
chew on a straw, toothpick, drink water, sugar free looly pops. etc. Good luck and way to go on the Quitting!!!!
Hello =)

Perhaps you should rethink the -quitting smoking- thing.......

I am a fat man who smokes.... Doctor is afraid to suggest I quit smoking, for fear I will gain more weight, which might kill me.....

Pathetic, but true....

Namaste,

--Tom
when most people quit smoking they have an involuntary need to keep things in there mouth. try chewing gum,, so you don-t have that propblem. if that doesnt help you might want to try to pat attention to what you-re eating, and how often you-re eating. and also...you shouldn-t judge yourself by the numbers on the scale!
don-t even think about starving yourself becuz im sure there are people that care about you out there !!!
best of luck to you with your problem, and props on quitting!
diet eat all ur mels as salads sandwichs or soup but brekfast should be either a healthy cereal (like special K) slimfast or carnation instant breafast for your vitamans and eat fruits and vegies.
ps keep up the excercise
stop filling your face.
