Ive been taking wellbutrin to quit smoking but its making me want to cry? -

the dr gave me wellbutrin to quit smoking but i think its depressing me- anybody had an experience with wellbutrin ?
Talk to your doctor and get off the wellbutrin, unless it is needed for a different reason. If only as a stop smoking aid, it isn-t worth it. Now I have been a smoker for 20+ years. I started taking Chantix 9 days ago, and I haven-t had a smoke in 3 days now. I don-t have a desire for one either. The last few I had tasted like crap. I guess that was the Chantix working. Anyways, Chantix is expensive, $110.00 for a month supply, ( and worth every penny to me, it DOES WORK) and you will need at least 3 months before it is said and done. Good Luck and hope you quit.
I was put on Wellbutrin for depression and it made me more depressed and extremely suicidal. It was terrible and when I finally went to the hospital they told me that I was feeling the effects of a toxic reaction to the medication. I suggest getting off of it right away.
talk to doc about getting off it its not good for you. the risk isn-t worth it
I took wellbutrin to quit smoking and it didn-t make me depressed, but it did make me feel very strange. I have tried everything to quit smoking and nothing worked except this Chantrix. Talk to your doctor and get the prescription. I have not smoked since Tuesday and I used to smoke like a pack and a half a day. It is great and it really works. Hope that helps and good luck!
I was prescribed it for depression, but it also helped reduce how much I smoke. Different people do react differently. My friend was prescribed Wellbutrin, also for depression, but he didn-t do well on it.
There is one called Zyban that is similar, but is more used as a stop smoking aid than an anti-depressant.
Just talk to your dr. - they can advise you.
I could not take wellbutrin--made my symptoms worse. My daughter was also prescribed a form of wellbutrin and she did not do well on it either. Different drugs work differently in different people. Be careful to monitor your symptoms with your doctor.
I DIDN-T THINK WELLBUTRIN WOULD HELP WITH THAT HOW ABOUT ASKING YOUR DOC ABOUT CHANTIX NOW THAT STUFF GIVE SOME GOOD RESULTS BUT IT-S NOT AN ANTIDEPRESSANT LIKE WELLBUTRIN.
Gee, when I was on Wellbutrin I couldn-t stop laughing at times. I was watching a -Munsters- episode and thought my sides would pop I was laughing harder than I ever have.

I would say take the other ladie-s advise - change if this is giving you a negative effect. It gives a bad taste for smokes but so does the other. Good luck.

Did you notice a big difference in ur skin quality when you QUIT SMOKING? -

just wondering if your skin got even more supple, collagen returning and some elasticity? just wondering it-s all true about smoking once someone starts over a long period of time.
so what-s ur experience so far having quit smoking--ur skin quality? improved? the same?
If your talkin about smokin pot its becuase wen u stop smokin pot evry thing becomes real agian so u start noticing the tiniest differrences because u become more alert in yo thinkin. If your talkin about regular smokin is cuz smokin kills cells in yo body includin skin cells so yo skin will look better cuz ther are not as many dead cells on the surface. So if u quit smokin u r aculy makin a sexyr u.

P.S. If u do smoke pot lose it like i did.I just lost it this week for good.
I-m a smoker and I-ve had poor complexion since my teens. My mum always uses this as a way to get me to quit -Your skin will be much smoother if you stop smoking-. Obviously that didn-t work.

I-ve checked up the net for -proves- on this but nothing really substantiate much. Smoking kills your lungs. Not your skin. Break outs are sometimes caused by stress which ironically smoking helps reduce! Go figure! =)
I noticed a big difference about 2 months after I quit.
I also have had mild-bad acne since 13 and I am almost completely clear. Not to mention my skin glows rather then looking dull and patchy... I defentally think smoking has a huge effect on your skin.
Yes. You become fairer, your skin becomes smoother, the reddish spots are gone. and your lips are red again.
yes i did it seem as if it cleared up some and i don-t brake out any more.
yes everything improved skin color, hair, sexual desire, appetite
go for it
probably less wrinkles around the mouth
i dont smoke
I have never smoked

Is it bad to take use the patch to quit smoking while on birth control? -

YEs! Very bad indeed. It can cause ellevated bllod pressure and high risk of blood clot.
No, it-s not dangerous - it-s much more dangerous to smoke while on the pill.
No, it-s fine to use nicotine patches when you-re on the pill.....smoking while on the pill increases your risk of blood clots, so it-s great that you-re going to give up. Good luck!
This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quit smoking 2 years ago

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

Medical Endorsements

A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health

“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”

Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees

“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”

Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital

“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”

Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong

“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”

Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London

”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”

Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP

“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”

Celebrity Endorsements

-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson

“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

GOOD LUCK
maybe that-s something you should talk to a doctor about
It-s great that you-re quitting smoking, which is not recommended while on birth control. I don-t think there would be a problem using the patch to quit...I did it and I-m still alive :)

I have been smoking for the last 6 years and finally decided go cold turkey. How do i take out the -bad thing- that-s there in my body caused due to excessive smoking in the past days.
I mean to ask how do i make sure that my past habbit has not caused any damage and clean my body ... Please suggest ...
The first priority should be to overcome the addiction. That-s the toughest component.

Your body will heal itself, and therefore eventually rid itself of the toxins introduced via smoking.

Cold Turkey is pretty rough, but if you can make it a week, you will already have begun to heal and therefore feel better.

Best of luck. It-s a major thing to kick.
I know what wasn-t the question, but i HIGHLY suggest that you get on some form of nicotine substitute. Such as nicorette gum, patches or lozenges. The success rate of quiting is very low as compared to using a substitute. But since you are deciding to quit -cold turkey- here-s a few hints that may help you. A nicotine craving really only lasts 3 minutes. If you can get past that 3 minutes than you should be fine until the next craving gets to you. Try chewing gum or exercising, just something that won-t make you think about it too much. You-re body starts to heal itself immediately after you smoke your last cigarette. Minutes after your last smoke your blood pressure will begin to drop, days after your last your lungs will start cleaning itself of all the tar in them. The longer time goes by, your body will repair itself to that of a non-smoker. The risk of heart disease is also that of a non-smoker after about 2 or 3 years. By about the 3rd month is when they say you-ll be in the clear and your chances of permanently kicking the habit are greater at that point. For now, to clean out all of the toxins, make sure you are drinking a lot of water to help flush out all of the chemicals in your system. Good Luck! It-s a very hard thing to do, but it-s very rewarding in the end and a great feeling of accomplishment.
Just stay off the smokes I quit too but only after I got larynx cancer and became a laryngectomee You can-t quit too soon so just hang in there...
go to a natural vitiam store they can sugest a going thing to help clear your body of the toxic left behide.
I quit January 10th. It was easy for me with hypnosis and then the patch. I am off the patch for over a month now. I think your body will take care of itself. The cilia grows back in your nose, your lungs will clear up (more than u realize...soon you-ll be able to hold your notes longer when you sing, etc.) You can also go into a sauna and breather the steam to help clear out your lungs. Good luck with that. Stick to it. Nothing in the world is worth smoking for once you successfully quit.

What is the best way to quit smoking after 31 years? -

I really want to quit smoking and I am on wellbutrin, and it helps, but how about replacing the habit? It is so hard! Has anyone been through this?
Give the wellbutrin some time. It helps so much. You don-t have to replace the habit as much as get new habits. I think it takes 2 months to develop new habits. So, when you get in the car, get in the habit of turning on the radio rather than lighting up, etc. After dinner, take a walk or do a puzzle - anything NEW.
try herbal pill

how it helps is when you have this pill in the morning after you try to smoke you feel bad taste in mouth and you hate cigarrettes smell so ultimately you end up in quitting. but for this you need to try for more than a month. these pills dont have any side effects they just react with smoke and create bad taste in your mouth. try visiting some medical shops you will find it.
BUY ANOTHER HABITT
Cancer will cure it. Stand by.
get some good snack around you, and grow a new habit to grab one when ever you think of that thing....and throw those out of your way....good luck...it-s a good decision to say - quit-...good job..keep up
Yes i have been through this..It is so hard but the best way is to keep a pack around so you can face it.Once you can resist what is right in front of you then you will be forever successful ,otherwise you will fight this every time you are around a smoker.Don-t ever smoke that first morning cigarette.Forget the patches you just need to stop cold turkey,that-s what i did .I think it takes 7 days to get the nicotine out of your system so after that it gets much easier!!
great will power
try caladium 30 one dose 3 times a day for one month
homeopathic medicine
Yes and the way I quit was very easy for me. This is what happened, a male neighbor of mine who hates women told me I couldn-t quit smoking because I was a woman. Never had a cigarette again. It-s been 28 years. He didn-t know it but he did me a favor. May not help you but might give you a bit of an incentive.
I smoked for 23 years and i quitted 3 months ago.

I took 3 weeks holyday and used poultice ( nicotinel ).
The first week was hard I just lied on the bed, after that it was getting easier and easier. I dont have any lust to smoke anymore.

It was much easier as I expected.

When i wanted to smoke I just said to myself that if I would do that I would never quit.
I don-t smoke but my father and mother did. Daddy died of emphysema and Mother quit after she had a heart attack in -03.

Daddy quit by going to a smoking clinic. Mother says she still wants a cigarette but knows she can-t smoke. Both my parents were much more calm after they quit smoking. I was surprised by that.

When you want a cigarette, say a prayer and say-please don-t let me smoke this-.
Then that night congratulate yourself on the number of cigs you didn-t smoke that day..
Don-t beat your self up if you smoked.

Each time you want a cigarette, also do something you love doing besides smoking.

Do it one day at a time coz smoking is highly addictive and hard to quit.
If you-re not able to, then see a therapist who does hypnosis. That can be very helpful.
Good luck to you!
chew gum insted
Here-s a tip -carry an unopened pack of cigarettes with you[we want most what we don-t have]. It helped me quit after 33 years.Use the money you save and buy yourself some toys.
stick a miniature firecracker into each cigarette before smoking. I guarantee you-ll stop soon enough.
Death.
Yes I have quit smoking and the only real way to do it is cold turkey. It is hard to do and you might not make it the first time you try but it is so worth doing. Just tell yourself that you will not light the next cigarette. You can try gum or someother thing to replace the habbit but in the end it is gonna come down to you chosing life over death and chosing to smoke or not to smoke.

I could tell you about how my husband died of lung cancer and how he lost 140 pounds and all his hair and his voice to the chemo treatments and how he was in and out of the hospital to have fluid drained off his lungs and how we had to raise the head of the bed with books because he nearly drowned in the building fluids. I could tell you how he looked older than his own father and about how his legs swoll up to over twice their size. I could go on and on but I will stop with telling you that he smoked 2 packs a day for 30 years and that he died last November at one month past his 50 birthday. will that do it for motivation?
Become so busy with volunteer work for the unfortunate that you don-t have the time or opportunity to smoke. Ideally this might be cancer victims.

Buy a pack of cigarettes for each of your kids and/or grandkids so you can take a close look at the future you are giving them. Autograph the packs so they will remember you.

Draw a picture of your own tombstone and write on it the way people will really remember you. Make tombstone drawings for each of the people you have poisoned by either smoking around or teaching them how to smoke by example.

Take a close look in a mirror and make up your own mind whether you really want to smoke or not. Then live accordingly.

WK
try nicotine patches. or get a girl u really love encourage u to quit! :D
I don-t smoke, but was told that smoking is a brain addiction as well as a physical addiction. This has worked for other people.

1. Get the nastiest/unfiltered cigarettes you can find, then put them in a very inconvenient place. They go in the trunk of your car, or in the basement/attic where you have to reach/crawl to get to them.
2. You are not allowed to carry cigarettes, or a lighter/matches on your self.
3. You can only smoke outside, and you can not stand under any form of shelter. The only exception is that you can have an umbrella if it is raining.
4. When you are done smoking, you have to put the cigarette out and save it in a plastic bag, which you will then return to where you are keeping your cigarettes.
5. When you want a cigarette, you have to finish the one that you have in the plastic bag first.

The point of all of this is to reprogram your brain. You will have to really want to smoke to go to all of the trouble of doing it. This will also help separate the physical addiction from the brain addiction. Give yourself 6 weeks, and see how it goes.
If you have had it for 31 long years, i dont think you have what it takes to leave the habit. Just dont get into guilt traps and try to reduce the frequency. Enjoy your smoke when you do
MY DAD QUIT AFTER 30 SOME ODD YEARS DUE TO BAD HEALTH. THE DR GAVE HIM PATCHES AND NERVE PILLLS TO HELP STOP THE CRAVINGS.
when you find out let me know. i need to quit too. i-ve been looking into the shot.
my dad was hypmotized and it worked it has been 9 years and he smoked for 42 years!!! Good luck, dont knock it until you try it!!!
cancer cures smoking
That-s a lot of years of dependency, so I-d advice you get some professional help.
It-s not an easy path at all. I am trying to quit after just ten years and I have already quit and come back to it three times. It-s a nasty one. I just read in paper yesterday that nicotine in cigarettes is up 10% since 1998. So they are even worse than before. Damn I should have quit in -98. I suggest trying to find something you can do with your hands, like maybe a crossword book or if you like it soduko. Keeping your hands and mind busy is very helpful but you will also come across the want for your mouth so try to keep lots of good vegetables and fruit on hand, I like grapes because you are doing something with your hands and your mouth, two cravings taken care of in one healthy snack. Also check out quitting smoking aid websites like these ones and see if they have any ideas that you feel are right for you. And find a great reason to quit. Mine is to think about not being around to meet my two toddler son-s wives and babies. It-s the only thing that makes me want to stop. Good luck with this and stick with it, it-s worth it and you can always email me if you need moral support from someone who-s going through a similar thing. Take care.
Yes, I quit smoking in April of 2003...after 34 years. I used Wellbutrin and Commit lozenges. It was my fourth real hard try at quitting. The first try only lasted a month. The second try lasted three months. The third try lasted about 6 months. I-ve tried the patches, the gum, etc. The best advice I got was -don-t stop trying!- It will take a commitment on your part, and a really sincere desire to be a non-smoker, but if you don-t stop trying, you will succeed, just keep on looking for a way that will work for YOU! Good luck!
Take lesser and lesser stick each weeks.....slowly and gradually. If you quit too fast, you may died
go see the doctor. your lung cancer treatment will keep you busy and will keep your mind off wanting to smoke.

Like what causes someone to be angry, and is their anything that person can eat or drink to calm themself?
There having withdrawals from the nicotine.. Nicotine patch is an excellent way to stop smoking because you gradually wean yourself off the nicotine and you don-t have the side effects you get when stopping cold turkey.. I been quit since June with the help of the patch.
it called nicotine withdrawal, been there and done it myself, been smoke free for six years now. used the patch, but walking helped a lot and keeping my hands busy and drank lots of water and fruit juices.

How can I quit smoking I tried everything from patches, gum etc? -

I tried so many times I am 48 and went through the change of life I already gained 20lbs don-t want to gain anymore Help ..........
you quit smoking by not lighting up a cigarette and smoking it. But, that can take several tries before it happens. I quit 6 months ago for good, but the first time I quit was 10 years ago. I also was afraid of weight gain, so I joined a gym the day I quit smoking. I go every day, and haven-t lost a pound. HOWEVER, I didn-t give up any foods, drinks, etc...I eat everything I want to (for now, until I feel like I can tackle that issue, too) and I just look at it like -hey, I didn-t gain any weight, either-. I-m much more fit, and most importantly, I-m not scared everytime I have a pain that I-m gonna have a heart attack, or die from smoking. All you can do is substitute your smoking with something healthy. When you-re ready, you-ll do it. I-d say good luck, but you won-t need it.
Well, when my dad had a heart attack, they went cold turkey on the smoking. I think you should do that, and to take your mind off of smoking, get some of those soft pepperments and eat them whenever U want to smoke. Thats what my mom did
If it-s an option for you, talk to your doctor. When I was younger I tried Wellbutrin and for me, it worked. It-s a depression medication but it-s also used to help people quit smoking and I found that it really took the urge away. I don-t know that it would work for you, number one thing to have is the will power to really quit.
Have you tried this?
Have you tried quitting cold turkey?
Have you ever tryed buying ciggerets that you defantly don-t like or cant stand smoking them. What you do is after you purches them limit you self to about 6 a day. When you really need one. Then eventually after awhile cut that amount to 4 or something. You will find that you really won-t want that because it not what your looking for or dosn-t turn you on. It will also help rig your body of the need for nicatien at the same time. Eventually you won-t want or have the need to smoke. It is a lot cheaper to try then the other things you have mentioned. You should give it a try and let us know how it was for you. Good luck..........
some places have non-smoking clinics. try those.
While working as a consultant in a drug rebah unit of a hospital as an RN/consultant - I was amazed at how many of those recovering drug addicts who said that cigarettes were much more difficult to stop than crack or cocaine.

Hang in there...and keep trying.
I just did a search around the web for pictures and written descriptions of what smoking can do to you. I then quit without looking back.

If i quit smoking, will the damage done already done to my lungs improve or is it too late? -

If i quit smoking, will the damage done already done to my lungs improve or is it too late? -

It depends on the damage done. Ask your doctor if you have a chance to better your lungs. Tell them that you are planning on stopping and would like to see a lung specialist to see if its possible.

Please don-t smoke around others. Lots of people smoke in the streets and they have no respect for the person behind them or next to them. When they turn their face away, it still blows to our face.

THe damage depends on your body-s ability to handle it!
I smoke years ago for a month! I regret that day! I couldn-t sleep at night. Shortness of breath for over a year. Coughing and Coughing. Now asthmatic for 3 years.
As you have said, the damage has already been done but when you stop smoking, your lung-s condition can definitely improve. You also lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, and other fatal diseases. When you stop smoking, you will also feel better with yourself and you can do away with bad breath and yellow teeth that you had when you were smoking.
It really depends on how long you have been smoking. If its been under ten years I would say no the damage is not permanent. Your lungs will regenerate and heal in about 15 years. I will tell you this, once you quit you can feel the difference and the health returning. I have been smoke free for a year and I smoked for 10. I feel so much better, my depression has eased off too. I can take deep breaths again and I overall feel good about not being tied to the habit.

Eating apples is good for lung health. I quit by replacing cigs with apples. Instead of smoking on my work breaks I ate an apple during them instead.
If you have smoked ten years or more, there is damage to your lungs; it may be only a small amount or it may be much more. Although you will probably get all kinds of opinions, scientific evidence proves that the lungs begin to heal and/or improve when you stop smoking. If you have not developed emphysema, your lungs will heal completely within about five years.

I smoked for 17 years and stopped, cold turkey, and could tell the difference in my breathing within a week. I started running and was breathing deeper. That was twenty-five years ago (in 1984). Pulmonary function test showed my lungs to be the same as if I never smoked.

The downside is that, although a person stops smoking, they still could get lung cancer at some point in the future, BUT the chances are greatly reduced. The smoke will clear out of your lungs and your breath will not smell like a burned trash pile.

You never go wrong by tossing the cigs. Go for it!
Quitting smoking is always a plus.(Wish I could)But to answer your question, yes. It takes quite awhile, but eventually some of the damage will heal. Now scarring from other stuff,no.I have -burn- scars on my lung lining from being young and dumb, and spraying Em iron paint on motorcycle frames about 30 yrs ago.The way it was explained to me was ,it formed almost like a plastic type scarring. This my friend will never heal.If your not sure how much damage has been done, ask the doc to do x-rays.And please.if you do any commercial spray painting or stuff that puts lots of dust in the air,Wear appropriate respirators.
God speed.
It does depends on how long you-ve smoked and whether or not you have lung disease already.

Generally: Risk of lung cancer falls to about half that of a smoker. Risk of heart attack falls to the same as someone who has never smoked.
NO the damage to your lungs will not go away,BUT by quitting now it will not get any worse.I have been smoking for 46 years, hae lost 90% of my lung function. I will be dead by the end of the year, and quitting willn do me no good. I implore you, if you can give it up DO....
The sooner you stop the better. Your lungs may already be damaged but when you stop they will eventually improve but it will take time.
Good luck with quitting if you decided to :) xxx

How can I quit smoking successfully? -

You Can Quit Smoking

A 5-Day Plan To Get Ready

The first step to quitting smoking is to decide to quit. Next, make an appointment with your health care provider, or contact a smoking cessation clinic to discuss your options for treatment. Set a quit date.

Quit Day Minus 5
List all of your reasons for quitting and tell your friends and family about your plan. Stop buying cartons of cigarettes.

Quit Day Minus 4
Pay attention to when and why you smoke. Think of new ways to relax or things to hold in your hand instead of a cigarette. Think of habits or routines you may want to change. Make a list to use when you quit.

Quit Day Minus 3
Make a list of the things you could do with the extra money you will save by not buying cigarettes. Think of who to reach out to when you need help, like a smoking support group.

Quit Day Minus 2
Buy the over-the-counter nicotine patch or nicotine gum, or get a prescription for the nicotine inhaler, nasal spray, or the non-nicotine pill, bupropion SR. Clean your clothes to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke.

Quit Day Minus 1
Think of a reward you will get yourself after you quit. Make an appointment with your dentist to have your teeth cleaned. At the end of the day, throw away all cigarettes and matches. Put away lighters and ashtrays.

Quit Day
Keep very busy. Change your routine when possible, and do things out of the ordinary that don’t remind you of smoking. Remind family, friends, and coworkers that this is your quit day, and ask them to help and support you. Avoid alcohol. Buy yourself a treat, or do something to celebrate.

Quit Day Plus 1
Congratulate yourself. When cravings hit, do something else that isn’t connected with smoking, like taking a walk, drinking a glass of water, or taking some deep breaths. Call your support network. Find things to snack on, like carrots, sugarless gum, or air-popped popcorn.

It-s all psychological. If you WANT to quit (solid motivation helps, like stopping for a partner or by a certain date) then it can be done. If you would like to quit, but still indulge occasionally, or do it -by mistake- when you get drunk, then you won-t be able to do it.

You have to start seeing yourself as a -non-smoker-, and not even tempt yourself by sitting in smoking sections, just having ONE, etc

Btw I wouldn-t waste my time on those patches and pills. Use your mind to quit, it-ll work and you-ll save money :)
By a strong will power and determination
This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quite smoking 2 years ago

GOOD LUCK!
throw away your cigarettes and stop thinking of it, try to do some other activity to fullfill your mental abetite like sports..It worked with my brother and uncle also.

Quit smoking and my teeth hurt? -

I quit smoking recently. (I had my last cigarette Friday night). I-ve been using Nicorette, a piece every few hours as I need it to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Tonight, I noticed that my bottom front teeth and gums HURT! It is similar to the feeling of having braces, when your teeth are moving. It is a sore, terrible feeling. I went for a checkup about a month ago.....My teeth and gums are very healthy (I have not had a cavity in 25 years! WHOO HOO!). Has anyone else dealt with this while smoking? What causes it and what should I do?
Have never heard of that symptom. But, your body goes through significant changes when you quit smoking. Could be some positive effects on your circulatory system from quitting. Could be nerves maybe. Hard to tell. If your are really concerned, you can see a doctor and put your mind at ease.
Not trying to be funny or anything but it may be from all that gum chewing... I can-t chew gum for too long because my whole jaw starts to hurt, teeth and all... you-re gums and teeth are probably sore from all the chewing you-ve been doing... i think it will get better soon, you-re just getting used to it, unless you always chew gum... then i don-t know what to tell you lol.

Hey, I-m sure you-ve all heard it before, but I-d quite like to stop smoking.

Any general advice would be appreciated.

I-ve tried nicotine patches and...well, I didn-t find them particularly effective.
try a support group
I personally went to one of those hoaky hypnosis seminars thinking that it probably wouldn-t work...that was on 3/6/03 and I haven-t had a cigarette since!! The biggest tool here is that you really have to want to quit and you have to tell yourself that there is no turning back...this time they are gone! I also used deep breaths when I got the urge to reach for them...told myself very firmly -NO- and I followed it with -this too shall pass-. It worked!
You could be like Greg off Meet the Parents and chew that gum like there-s no tomorrow. :)

You can also get a prescription for these pills from the doctor. My Mommy got them and she has really cut down on cigarettes, although she wasn-t trying to quit.

My Dad got hypnotized. It worked for 5 years! The second time it only worked for a year. He-s under a TON of stress so that explains it though. They put you in a trance and show you gross pictures while telling you that cigarettes are poison. I-d look into it.

When you-re trying to quit, make sure not to drink any caffeine. It makes you crave cigarettes really bad! xD

Good luck! :)
Just quite smoking bit by bit. Everyday other day remove one stick of your usual number of stick you smoke per day. That way, your body will experience just slight, if any, withdrawal symptoms.
There is going to be a hypnosis seminar going on it Baltimore next weekend, this worked for me before, I know it sounds weird. The thing is that when I was with this guy he did not like me smoking, so he paid for it, well needless to say he cheated and I thought that I would piss him off by starting again, but I got sicker then a dog. I should have never started, so I figure it worked before and it only cost 40 bucks and I spend that in 1 week easy for smokes. Any way it may or may not work, do not go to private therapist, they are costly this guy gives you a life time guarantee, needless to say I lost my other one so now I have to pay.
thats great that u tried to stop, and try gum, and let or friends or family help ou too, there a milloin choices out for you. hope this helps!!
to start with you must determine if you are more chemically or mentally addicted. There is a difference. I was a 4 pack per day, 25 year smoker. I was more mentally addicted than chemical. There are different measures taken to be successful in quiting. You must be prepared for the mood swings and physical discomforts. Also be aware that most of us started smoking as kids and never experienced life before tobacco as adults with any life experiences to speak of. Every day life will be changed. It is good. I am 17 years smoke free and lovin every minute of it.

Good luck ! ! !
wellbutrin worked for me
chew gum instead
I know a couple that quit last year and their best method to help them was to always keep gum and chew it whenever they wanted a cigarette and smoking one very little until not at all. It also takes great willpower. I have heard that hypnosis, even the audios from the internet, help greatly in gaining enough willpower.
My hubby smoked for 30 years. I have a severe smoke allergy and asthma. So he had an incentive to want to quit (if he wanted to be with me). He was put on Wellbutrin by the doctor and it made it so that cigarettes tasted awful. After a month or so, he couldn-t stand the smell of cigarette smoke. He took the Wellbutrin for about a year and has been off of it for several years now. He has no desire to smoke. :)

Good luck! :)
Stick one over each eye and you won`t be able to find your cigarettes!
Have a peppermint each time you crave a cigarette, the craving will go away.

And to have lots of water, and the nicotine will wash out

Make sure you get a lot of fresh air and exercise, it will help your brain recover

have faith
Instead of smoking, do something else wit yo hands.
DUH!!!

Many people in this support group have been thru any problems you face, can talk with you about it. Check it out!

I used the nicotine gum, and the above named support group, and got off the cigarettes after a 42 year addiction.
thats very tough to do. My hubby has smoked for over 30 yrs. and tried to quit and did for a few days but couldn-t handle it. Now my son who has been smoking for over 11 yrs has quit smoking and he doesn-t appear to be having problems doing it at all. Both of them quit cold turkey-no help-except trying to psyche themselves out everytime they want a cigarette.
Hi Ben,
My sister got her some suckers..
called Dumb-Dumbs Walmart has them...kept one in mouth each time she wanted a cig..
Good Luck
Try will power....if u want to really quit smoking and i mean REALLY then make up ur mind and just stop.. u can do it if u put ur mind to it....
They have a new laser treatment, at least here in Wisconsin that supposed to work for $300.00. Some people it works on but they use a laser to the part of your brain that gets addicted. My mom just ha it done, she smoked for 40 yrs, she said her body doesn-t crave it it is just trying to find something to do with her hands.
try resolve
First, you have to really want to quit.
Second, you just have to stop. The first 72 hours are the worst. After that, it-s all in your head.
Third, don-t put yourself in a situation where you would normally like to smoke for a t least a couple of weeks. (bars, haning out with chain smokers, etc)

For me, the best thing I did was to stop going in to the gas station. Just paid for gas at the pump and did not go in to the store. I also had to ask my family not to mention it to me either. Don-t tell me I-m doing good, don-t ask me if I am having cravings, and if I am being crabby, just ignore me.

Research shows that quitting cold turkey is the most effective way to stop and the least likely method to allow for slipping back.

Patches - gum continue to give you the nicotine you are addicted to. Wellbutrin doesn-t make you want to quit, it doesn-t make you sick when you smoke, it doesn-t make cigarettes taste bad. It just makes it so that you don-t want to choke everyone while you are trying to quit.
try the nicotine inhaler!! that seems to help, i used it.

Can someone advise me about how to quit smoking marijuana? -

I smoke daily and have always enjoyed it. But I feel guilty for spending so much money and living life with a buzz. It feels like I always need to be high just to get through the day and I never lived this way before I started smoking years ago. All of my friends smoke weed and it would be hard to be around them when they do it. I am also scared I will be terribly bored or won-t know what to do with my time. (learned habit, i know)
How can I go about quitting smoking weed? What are some benefits to quitting? Some encouragement to quit? or some ideas to hang out with friends or stay sober
Quitting cold turkey is the best way.

Encouragements: More moeny. Less guilt. You will feel better. Your memory will improve as well as your coordination. You wil be more aware of your surroundings. Your health will improve. You will have more energy. You may loose weight. You may become more motivated to go out and do things than sit and smoke. You could volenteer and improve your community, like at a school or a shelter and improve your resume- at the same time. This is also a good place to meet people. Most of all I think you will feel better about yourself - long term.

I know it will be different at the begining, but after a while yiou will get used to it and most likely prefer it.
Good luck!
I used to smoke weed a lot, I just decided it was a silly habit and quit cold turkey. Best thing I ever did, I finally feel like myself.
You made the first step by asking the question of how to stop.It isn-t until you stop that you see how silly it all is. Cold turkey is great but it has to be followed by serious change. The people you hang out with must stop if they are not willing to accept your new attitude. also i believe there is power in prayer don-t forget to ask God for a little help... Good Luck
you can check into rehab.
Once you-re clean for awhile, you-ll notice how good it feels to be alive, awake, thinking clearly, and not afraid of the law. Honestly, stop hanging out with those that do, it-s too much of a temptation. Try counseling if you have time and/or money. think of how you-re supporting big time dealers that rob and do other nasty ---- to others to get their drug out. Really, when you buy, you are supporting a drug culture that is hurting your family, neighborhood, and citizens as a whole. It-s not good for you lungs, generally speaking, you-ll feel better after you quit. Probably the biggest thing is not being afraid of the law, and health benefits. And, you-ll probably find out what you been missing, even the llittle things are passing you by right now. Good luck, life-s for living, not being drugged up.
Best way is to go cold turkey, and stop hanging around your friends who get high.
I think if you are to the point of asking these questions, you are ready to quit. You-re going to need support. I would seek out the local alcohilics or narcotics anonymous group and attend meetings.

Good luck! :)
whoever said its not physically addictive lied

i have had severe physical symptoms mostly sweating profusely and nausea, dizzy spells and the inability to eat. but the most noticeable was something weird happens when i pee for the first 4 days after quitting after i am done urinating and about 10 seconds goes by a few more drops would just run out without me feeling it... really embarrassing till i began to expect it and learned to wear black pants to work when i ran out of weed or tried quitting or whatever.

quitting cold turkey intensifies the symtoms as does the amount of time since your last break

but trust me it didnt stop there, most people didnt smoke as much or as often as me but its not easy and its not comfortable

for me the problem really started AFTER the first 3 days, because although they were physically miserable the problem is that time is not on the addicts side and neither is our world.

you-ll need to avoid your friends, and honestly if you are gonna stay quit its gonna be hard to make new ones for a while because the moddiness and just outright anger at everything around you really scares the no-drug people.

ill never have a cigarette again, ill probably never have another drink

8 1/2 yrs and 9 1/2 respectively

but no gaurantees on weed... i cant believe people say its non addictive... also dont listen to the must have been laced crap either... its hard because you learned to depend on it for fun and feeling good
As a long time smoker, I completely understand where you are coming from. As soon as I am bored, the blunt is being rolled. I do really think that the best way to quit is cold turkey. If that is just too hard, cut back a little every week until you get to the point that you realize the small amount you are smoking is really not even worth it. If you do -wean- yourself off, you must be absolutely determined because it will be so easy to slip back. Good Luck and congratualations for trying to better yourself. That is always admirable.
Considering MJ is not physically addictive. You have to just not light the pipe..

However it seems you have developed a mental or psychological addiction.
You need to preoccupy your time and just focus on not smoking it.

You should go to Psychologist and let them know you have an addictive personality and wish to not smoke pot anymore.

Some detox places will work with MJ users but not many. Because it’s not addictive.
hello im 19yrs old same problem, i started smoking 8yrs ago,...everyday i smoked, i loved it, dont get me rong, but i new what it was doing to my life and that had me worried,. no dought it was probobly the hardest thing i had to do, and took forever. i couldent have fun without it, but u gatta think...its tearing up your insides, u r depressed when u dont have it... you depend on it every day...and you now its ripping your life to shrerds..now im not going to say u need a drug program cause it would be pointless to have somone tell u somthing u already now,..u now what your problem is, so u dont need somone to tell u,...first try passing it up when its ofered, u will feel good about yourself, tell your freinds u want to quit, and for them not to smoke around u and if they dont respect that, then what good of freinds are they? i now u have it in u hun, u can QUIT
Well it looks like you have already pointed out some reasons why you should quit: money and a hazy existence.

One thing that helps with addiction is finding other focuses. What do you want out of life? Figure that out first and see where smoking weed fits into the equation.

When you find out what you want, then figure out how to get it. Figure out your own plan and make it happen. Can you do it while you are smoking weed? No, probably not because you are going to be distracted and lazy from the pot.

Start making small changes every day. Make yourself a plan like:

Day 1:
Goal 1) Smoke only ____ joints instead of my 10 joints.
Goal 2) Make a list of what I want in life.
Goal 3) Clean the house.

Day 2:
Goal 1) Smoke only ___ joints.
Goal 2) Research how I can accmoplish these goals.
Goal 3) Go for a walk.

After a while get down to smoking little or no pot and substitute the smoking with different activities that will make you even more happy. You can-t be bored if you are using your brain to make you life more exciting and accomplished.

As far as your friends go, you can try to distance yourself. But you will be lonley. Simply express to your friends how you are feeling, maybe they are feeling the same way you are. Then plan things that you guys can do without pot. Even if they are high you don-t have to. Also, if you find new hobbies beside smoking pot you can also make new friends that do other things.

Everything you ever want in life is obtainable, you just have to figure out exactly what you want and learn exactly how to get it. Just think about taking steps each day instead of focusing about the large task.

Also, don-t focus only on the staying sober issue. While it is important, do not beat yourself up if you slip. It is just pot and you are not smoking crack and shooting things up to get it. Realize that we all have our vices and this is something that you need to work on.
Start by going to and NA or AA meeting. Talk to people who have been where you are. Don-t discount recovering alcoholics because the only difference is your drug of choice, your thinking patterns are the same.

Also, look into a drug and alcohol rehab. The can give you medication to make the withdrawal easier and since they are generally 30 residential programs, you will have 30 clean and sober before you have to deal with the outside world again. They will help you prepare for dealing with finding new friends and new things to do.
Joining a support group would help you alot, I think. Some places have marijuana support groups, but your local AA chapter will probably adopt you too if you can-t find one. The best way to start quitting is to stop buying it. Don-t stress if you can-t go cold-turkey but do your best to cut back on how often you smoke. Go for a walk instead, or call someone to talk; distract yourself when you feel the need to smoke.

Benefits include healthier lungs, extra money, better focus on life, a sense of accomplishment, and the shedding of the -stoner- stigma ;-)

It-s a habit just like any other, so if you falter or have a bad day, don-t feel bad. If you mess up, start over immediately; don-t wait til the next day to try again. Keep going.

As for your buddies... Tell your friends you-ve decided to quit and ask them to smoke when you-re not around. Make your house and car smoke-free areas. They-ll either get it or they won-t. If not, it-s better to leave them to themselves than to let them bring you down.

Best of luck with it :-)
weed is actually not physically addictive like nicotine and alcohol are.. so the only hurdle (and it-s a big one) you have to clear are you mental addictions/habits... most of that just comes from determination.. but to help yourself along don-t place yourself in situations that will tempt you.. like at a party with your friends... if you know it-s going to be around.. don-t be around it until you are strong enough to shrug off the temptation... one month.. if you can make it one month then it will start to get easier... that-s how long it takes to build a habit.
COLD TURKEY!!!! AVOID ALL PEOPLE AND SITUATIONS THAT WILL ENTICE YOU INTO A RELAPSE. STAY IN PRAYER....
Like anything a habit is hard to break. You sound like you really want to quit. Take that as a sign. Grow some balls and do it. The first couple of weeks are going to be tough. Your anger level will probably be high, and not in the fun sense. Also keep in mind, the possibility of getting arrested for possession are always going to lurk in your mind if you don-t quit. Not to mention all those brain cells you are killing off.
I used to smoke weed a lot like you, now I only do it once in a blue moon (okay, more like once a month).

The benefits are excellent - you-ll sleep better, breathe better, your skin will look healthier!

The good thing (and you know I-m a smoker since I-m saying this) is that pot is not physically addictive - psychologically, sure, but no one has ever proven it to be physically addictive. Why is that so great? Because after a few months or a year, when you-ve managed to change your lifestyle, you won-t be -falling off the wagon- by smoking once or twice.
I think quitting cold turkey is probably your best bet. It would also be wise to stay away from anyone else that smokes so that you won-t be tempted to start smoking again.
Can someone advise me about how to quit smoking marijuana? -

Cant quit smoking because of friend(s). What to do? -

Cant quit smoking because of friend(s). What to do? -

My best friend smokes(tobacco) quite a bit as do I when we are out together. We are so attached to cigarettes and I think it-s because it-s really the only way we can relate to a complete stranger that smokes. I have tried herbal teas(kava kava, yerba, etc). I can-t tell him to not smoke around me nor can I truly get the message across to him.
Hard to just tell you what to do...I quit smoking about 3 years ago...cold turkey...i was just sitting around thinking and the thought popped in my mind -this might be the last pack of cigarettes i ever buy-...the more i thought about it and my future, i said ok fine...i quit...Now my buddies were still smoking, one day my bud says, -what you done quit smoking or something-, and i was like yup...i quit...about 2 weeks later he called me and was like man this is hard to do...i was like what is...he said quitting smoking...lol...he ended up quitting too...we both survived on sunflower seed for a long time!!

Its all in your mind...if your mind is not made up to quit, you will not quit!! Nothing will make you quit (gum, patch, tea) unless you and your mind are set to quit!! I quit a 1000 times before, but this time was different...i WANTED to quit, my mind was right....Dont wait on your friend if YOU are ready to quit...Once hes sees you are committed to quit, he may follow in your foot steps. Who knows...I still have some friends that smoke, and they have come to respect the facts that i quit...most of them (including my own father) will go outside to smoke...i dont ask them to do this...they just do it outta respect.

If you are ready...Go for it...Get your life back!!
I smoked for 25 years would quit here and there for a few months Smokes were always my addiction. I got up one morning put on a 1/2 of a patch used it for a week and the second week forgot too. I quit 11 years ago and my husband smokes but not in the house. My daughter smokes. So whatever way you are going to try Wellbutrin, Chantix don-t blame your friends for you smoking. You can do this if you have it mentally inside you are going to quit and mean it. You will be able to quit. Think about cancer, your clothes smell to non-smokers, There alot of things smoking can do to your body. You need to stop now.
I weaned myself off smokes a little at a time. For example the first day, I smoked every 30 minutes, next day every 40, next day every 50. Took me a couple weeks but I got to the point where I didn-t even remember it was time to smoke. Because I did it so slowly, I didn-t miss it and my friends could smoke around me. Also, it helps if you keep in your mind that you-re just not smoking today - forever sounds like the electric chair to a smoker. lol

Now, I-m think you go out an party with your friend a lot. You may have to cut that out for a while because drinking and smoking go hand in hand for smokers. Or if you are a regular a the bar, once you have started cutting back, give your smoke to the bartender and time yourself. Go ask for one every hour or something. It can be done and smoking less may not be as good as quitting but it-s a start and something to be proud of.
Sit down together and watch this video (Australian anti-smoking ad)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blIBXToln…

It is very hard to quit when others are smoking around you. You have to limit your relationship with the people who smoke around you. Otherwise, it makes it so hard to do this. Also I tried a medication called Chantix which helped a lot in finally giving it up. Check into it. Lots of luck.
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
Maybe you should get new friends. If your smoker friends can-t abstain from smoking around you, maybe you should distance yourself.
I personally smoked for over 13 years, and I had tried all the different aids out there in the market. On all of them I was able to quit for a period of time, but then I found myself smoking again when going out with my friends.
I finally kicked the habit cold turkey. It took some change in my behavior, and I had the support of my friends who went to different places where smoking wasn-t allowed. By removing myself from the common places of smoking for two months I beat the psychological aspect of smoking...which I think, is why you continue to smoke around your friend.
Simply ask to do different things for a short time and with time you can get to the point where you may go to your old stomping grounds and not even feel the craving for smoking!
i have the same problem, and the only thing i ave found that sorta works is to try and cut out a cig here and there, like not smoking while driving a short dsitance, and cutting out the afternoon grit. when partying and goin out to bars the only thing that works for me is to only bring a like 5 cigs in one of those metal tin things, then i dont have that many to smoke and have to stretch out the time in between. I dunno, it works for me, you might wanna try it, but yeah smoking begets smoking so for the time being ya just have to make a concientious descision to cut a few out of your daily routine

good luck
If you-re able to stop smoking when you aren-t around them, the problem is more psychological than an actual physical addiction. Try chewing gum and keeping your hands busy. As far as depending on that as a way to relate to strangers, why not just try to be nice?
I was put on Wellbutrin XL and ended up quitting smoking before I even thought about it.

It is perscribed as an Antidepressant under Wellbutrin but it is perscribed under another name for Smoking Cessation.
(Some insurance companies cover Wellbutrin but not the other name or the other name but not Wellbutrin... So even though it is the same damn drug your doc needs to check with your insurance company to see which one it will cover)

You just stop craveing them as much as you do now.

I didn-t -Intend- to quit or even say the words -I-m going to quit-. After a few months on the medication I just found myself not thinking about smoking as much as I used to.

It takes away the URGE, not the chemical dependency, but you don-t notice the withdrawle symptoms like you would cold turkey because the URGE is 50% of the symptoms!

Dose that make sense?

If you want to quit without thinking about it give Wellbutrin XL a try. Just give it a MINIMUM of a month to kick in... Anything that happens in that first month will prob go away and is just a side effect of getting on the medication!!!

Good luck!

I Quit smoking 3 weeks ago today but for the last week or so something strange has been happening? -

*WARNING* Some of you may find this gross so... ride at your own risk.

I realize that around 2-3+ months after you quit your lungs start to clean themselves out BUT something is going on now for me and it-s only been 3 weeks since I quit. I had been a smoker for 20 years and 1+ pack a day for about 15 years (Menthol). When I would cough up the nasty stuff it was always yellow at most. Now that I quit, about a week ago I started coughing up Dark brown-Dark grey... In all my years smoking I NEVER coughed up anything that dark.

Is this normal this early?
Congratulations! Yes, your on your way back to good health. Do some deep breathing exercises, they-ll help as well.
As long as there is no temperature with the dark color phlegm you should be fine! But if you have any trouble breathing or any pain in your lungs then by all means get them checked out by a M.D.
Same thing happened to me 14 years ago. I think it is normal, but if you have doubts see your doctor. The lungs are incredible organs, they will cleanse themselves. Good luck stopping! It was the hardest thing I ever did! You should be proud!!
not only normal, but it-s great! i know it-s gross, but think of the crap that is no longer in your lungs.

Great job on quitting. I know it-s not easy to end any addiction, so a huge thumbs up for you!
I smoke menthol to. I think its becuse when you were smoking your lungs couldent clean as much out because you were still smoking. Now your lungs are going all out in the clensing prosess because no mmore of that **** gos in your lung so it has more energy and time to get it out.
That s interesting, when i cough all i get is greenish stuff...
yes..it is normal..as you-ve said its cleaning up...that colored things you-ve seen is combination of nicotine and phlegm..going out to your lungs..its very natural
Dont worry ,
Your lungs have tiny hairs all over them and they`e been saturated in tar and unable to force out the grunge ,now you`ve stopped , the hairs are getting back to doing their job ,different times for different people .It started for me at 10 days .I gave it a nudge with a ventolin puffer though .
Your lungs will go back to clean after a few months ,or even less .
Start walking every day .I started trying to walk up a 150mtr hill paddock to a helipad .After a week i could run ,
cheers mate

Your lungs are awesome organs and they-re simply cleaning up. Your windpipe is covered with microscopic hairs called cilia, and they-ve been coated with phlegm, tar and nicotine for all those years.

Just as long as you don-t cough out blood and you don-t have much trouble, its fine.

But if you see some blood, or have trouble coughing them out, go see a doctor bro.
I-m sure you-ll be fine :) very sure :)
In the healthy lung there are small hair-like projections called cilia that clean the lungs by moving mucus up and out. Smoking paralyzes this cleaning system. Your lungs are begining to recover from the inflammation caused by 20 years of smoking abuse. This inflammation is causing your symptoms. Constantly coughing up mucus is a good sign. It shows that this cleaning system is working again. When you were smoking this mucus would just stay in your lungs. When you quit smoking before there has been permanent damage to your lungs then you get better as the cleaning system cleans your lungs. This may take up to a year after smoking stops.
There is nothing wrong, try using -Super Detox,- it will help you clean your lungs, kidney, liver and pancreas. I truly recommended this product, I use it when I stop smoking and help me get all that nasty stuff out. I have to say I liked smoking but now, I really love not smoking. Every time I got sick it would last longer than the usual.

YOur little cilia are working hard and good to clean to clean out your lungs- should be fine- if worried see md- D
I don-t think so. Yellow cough up is not good. You should go see a doctor because coughing up dark brown dark grey could be worst.
i-m a smoker that is planning to quit in the next few weeks...you know how that goes
i never knew that your lungs clean themselves out after smoking. thanks for the heads up!
its cleaning, but you know what, you just saved your life!
your next step is to eat healthy food, vitamin c men!! lung cancer is the number ONE killer worldwide, keep yourslef healthy, wake up atleast 5:30 am everymorning, inhale and exhale for atleast a couple of mins., your lungs must recover from the damages you-d made. gudluck!

P.S. this advice i made is very easy to type, but a 100 times harder to DO than to smoke a stick! so the choice is yours and only YOURS!
it is your body reaction when you stop taking harmful things towards your body. is is so called cleansing action from your body. i suggest you go to get some herbs tea that may make you more comfortable during this period of time. such as thyme, peppermint and chammoile.

Why cant I quit smoking even though I want to? -

I know for me I would say that I want to, but really deep down I love to smoke. It is the only break I get in the day, please don-t take my smokes away...

I quit the last day of April and I am feeling good - though it took me 6-8 weeks to really stop craving. My advice is wait for Wednesday morning and try to quit then. Be firm with yourself. It is not a matter of not like perhaps it is a matter of not want to, and that should win out.

Be careful of the nasty stress reactions we build up to justify having a cigarette. Just resolve not to use cigarettes as a way to deal with stress. Once you pass the test a couple times, it will go away.

You might also want to try nicorette gum - it can be great to have something to do and something to make it a little easier on you in the beginning.

Peace!
Its called addiction to nicotine.
I dunno. Let me know when you find the answer, because I can-t either. Good luck!
Cigarettes are one of the most addictive habits known to man. Once you get used to smoking your body craves the Tar and Nicotine that these little monsters have. Quitting is really a mind over matter thing and it doesn-t make a difference what-s on the market to help. If you have been a smoker for a while then your body will suffer withdrawal and many people relapse during this period.I smoked for 22 years---my last cigarette was 11 years ago.
It-s b-coz you are not determined and lack confidence.Think abt cancer when you are tempted to smoke.
Because you really deep down don-t want to. I quit last year. I had tried a few times before that. Cravings come from the want. You will have to quit cold-turkey. None of that tapering off stuff. I allowed myself to smoke one or two only if I was drunk, and eventually I didn-t even want to smoke while drunk. Now, the smell bothers me, and I am disgusted with the thought of smoking. Success!
You really don-t want to. If you really wanted to you would stop in spite of the cravings.
well one thing it is addictive and it is just plain hard.. i have quit before and then i go back to smoking... there is something about it that i like and find relaxing... i especially like a cigarette after eating and other activities....but i have tried patches and they work the 1st step pretty good... but somewhere it seems you are around someone that does smoke and there you want a cigarette again...i have even smoked with the patches on and they say that will make you sick.. it may make you kind of sick to your stomach though...i guess we just have to take control and when we want a cigarette deny our self the cigarette like we do not want to get fat so we watch what we eat...
You will soon. When you get small cell lung cancer.
It-s a tough thing to do.
I-ve tried about 6 times now.
I-ll keep trying over and over till I quit forever.

Problem is I go out with friends and they ALL smoke and it-s tough to ignore the urge!
DON-T GIVE UP!!! Some day it will take ...don-t be discouraged. Here are some tips that you might not have heard before...
Brush your teeth every time you eat...use cinnamon mouth wash gum and candy...the cinnamon really helps. Stay away from smokers. Make sure all the smoke odors are cleared out of your car and home and clothes. Spray fabreeze all over. When you have a craving take slow deep breaths and blow them out slowly.(at least 3) Drink a lot of water. Use the patches for a while if
you must. All of these things really do help. I finally quit last march 6 after 35 years of it. That-s an other thing make a note of your quit date and keep up with it. Let your loved ones know you expect congrats and gifts on that date. Celebrate your first week and each month then have a blow out for year one!! YOU CAN DO IT!!
BS-D

because you are not really ready.
something bigger than your desire to smoke has to be your motivational factor. and it has not arrived yet.
ask yourself: what would the benefits of giving up be?
if they are not motivating you, then you simply are content where you are.
nicotine causes a physical addiction......

even though you want to quit....your body needs and wants that nicotine......

so, it makes you crave it.....
You-re addicted to nicotine in the cigaretes. Its hard to stop smoking but good luck to you
It-s cause you-re addicted to it. Your spirit (will) is strong, but your body is weak. It doesn-t respond to what you REALLY want to do. You better power up your DETERMINATION! ;) Good luck!
Get support. Have friends help you out by requesting that they not smoke while you-re around. Help yourself by avoiding places with temptations, bars etc. :)

Good Luck!

What tips can you recommend to quit smoking? -

Hi im 17 years old and ive been smoking for over 2 years and i really want to quit but i cant afford nicroret products could anyone give me any tips please
i smoked from 13 to 23, i tried to quit 3/4 times, finally i did(aug -97)....here-s how: i started a new job, left my old one on purpose, and told the people at my new job that i am not a smoker. i quit going to any place that served alcohol or allowed smoking. i told everyone who knew me that i quit, and every one i met afterwards i was a non-smoker. i was now left with facing embarassment or humiliation, if i ever smoked again, and i got busy in my church, volunteering 3 or 4 times a week-a role that required a commitment not to smoke. i quit in one day, and never touched another one. p.s.- i wanted to quit, cuz i knew it was killing me,

Have a packet of cigs with your for a few months whilst stopping, the temptation is there but you have to control it. Wrap your cigs in lots of elastic bands, this way you get so frustrated getting them off that you just give in. When you want a cig chew gum and within 20 minutes the craving will have passed. You may wish to join a support group, your GP can put you in touch with the local group.

If i can quit so can you!
Here are some good tips:
Take up a hobby
Walk instead of smoke
Put the money you are saving on them in a jar, to spend on yourself after a few months

Check this website for good advise! http://www.quit.org.uk/
Read About All The Bad They Can Do To You.
My Friends Started When She was 8. I Tortured Her For Two Years With All The Bad Thing They Can Do To You.
Go to your doctor-s surgery, and say you smoke, and they will supply you with free patches and gum. Hope this helped, hon! ;)

Getting rid of cigarette smell and how quit smoking? -

How can I minimize the cigarette smoke smell in my house, my hair, clothes?
My roommate smokes and I do too (i quit using chantix but stress brought me back to smoking!!) I will never use chantix again because of side effects, so I need some advice on how to quit (especially when I-m always around cigarettes at home)

Febreeze just seems to make the smell on my clothes worse so please don-t suggest febreeze :)
My perants smoke and I cant stand the smell. I constantly keep my window open to flush out the smell. Thats said I do smoke the occasional smoke. Try cut down numbers then just go straight for it. Trust me, drugs wont work. You have to do it yourself.
Well, if at first you don-t succeed...try, try again!

Not sure about the smell as only quitting can really help I suppose. My best mate Molly quit smoking last month and she said that thinking of herself as a non-smoker rather than an ex-smoker really helped. I know she also tried Nicorette to help with the cravings-good luck!
i get rid off the smell of cigs by smoking weeeeeed
dont smoke at all. find something else to do. try working out, or find a hobby.

I quit smoking marijuana and now i can barely eat anything? -

I was used to smoking everyday, and now that i am trying to quit it seems as if i cannot eat anything. It makes me extremely stressed that i cant eat normally. It also seems im not hungry in the afternoon, but i can eat at around 7. I went to the doctors and had blood tests taken and there was nothing wrong. Please help
Weed used to make everything taste better, so it makes sense that nothing tastes good while sober, right? Stress and loss of appetite are normal, and you may be clean but your brain is still used to the THC. So, depending on how long you used and how long you-ve been clean, your body will take a while to readjust to sober living.
Lol, welcome back to reality fellow stoner. Don-t worry about it, you-ll bounce back to normal pretty soon. This has happened to a lot of people. Weed used to give you the munchies, makes food just so much more appealing. You-ll get used to it. Why-d you quit smoking? It better be a good reason :(
you should ween yourself off the ganja if you continue to feel this way. quiting cold turkey, just like everything else, will have its adjustments. my problem is that i don-t eat when i smoke heavily. so if i need to lose some weight i begin to smoke heavily again. i know im a bit different from other smokers.
don-t quit man....... unless your school/job drug tests, in all these thousands of years NOBODY has died from marijuana use, you and i both know that marijuana cannot kill unless you smoked 15,000 joints in 20 minutes, by the way i Challenge anybody to do that.
the same thing happened to me. eventually your appetite will come back -- i never thought it would, but it did for me. i used to smoke every few hours and now i do it a couple times a week and none of the weird side effects happen (loss of appetite, going to the bathroom a lot, etc)

Question for any one that has quit smoking? -

Question for any one that has quit smoking? -

Does anyone have any helpful ideas for quitting smoking..like i know theres patches n stuff but anything else or just general ideas like drinking lots of water ect.
What helped you quit....or was it.......COLD TURKEY.. :p eh
thanks
Hi - I quit 23 Feb last year and even now want to smoke! First up, you have to WANT to quit, if you dont want to (like I dont actually want to but HAVE to) then youll struggle.

Stay away from people / places with smoke for a few weeks to get over that -hump-, dont play chicken with how long you can stay in a smokey atmosphere as itll only make you break and have one lol

Distraction works great. If you have a hobby or pass-time, really focus on it in your spare time as this will help keep your mind off the cigs

I went cold turkey, no patches or anything, and I think Ive finally done it! Good luck to you. Drop me a line if you want to chat :D Bxx
i never found any easy way to give up cigarettes as it-s the hardest thing i every finally did (many attempts before it finally worked). The only way to do it is just to do it. Keep yourself really busy (- fit), brush your teeth lots to enjoy the experience of a fresh mouth - throw on a patch just to take some edge off the nicotene withdrawal. Good luck - although it takes ages the urge does go away - one day you will be an annoying ex smoker who hates smoking.
It Metaly hard even after 1 year.
Yaa , U will get these type of idea but always the best one is
the most simple one :-
do it :-

1) Leave friends who r used to smoke.
2) if wanna to smoke then generally try to get 1 cig. rather than a pack
3) try to search for a alternative for smoking

these r done by me and i got benefited.
Giving up smoking was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but in the end I did it!, I went cold turkey for about a month then decided I would try having one, I felt sick and dizzy and that made me stay away from them. My husband used the chewing gum, then went on to the patches, then started having peppermints to replace the cigs, it took a while but he did it.
Good Luck and I hope you succeed. Take care

I quit smoking a month ago. why am i breaking out!? -

I quit smoking a month ago. why am i breaking out!? -

seriously. i didn-t think i was a vein person until i quit smoking gained weight and broke out. my friends said im detoxing, if that is so why just on my face. i quit smoking to be healthy now im just self conscience and depressed as hell. i feel fat and ugly. wasn-t worth quiting in my book but im too stubborn to go back to smoking. this sucks.
after a month you will still be experiencing withdrawal and it will be your mind lying to you to be depressed and feel fat etc...hang in there ...the end result will be worth it....
The weight gained isn-t from the lack of nicotine, it-s from the extra eating you-re doing to keep your hands moving to your mouth (it-s like replacing one bad habit with another). The acne could be from the extra chocolate or sugar you-re ingesting as well.

Cut out the -non-smoking snacking- and you-re problem should subside.
