How do you quit smoking ganja? -

Ive been smoking for ten years and i want to stop, but every time i say i quit i end up with a blunt i my mouth.
Go to a Marijuana Anonymous land meeting if there is one near you (http://www.marijuana-anonymous.org), and if there isn-t, go to MA online http://www.ma-online.org/. I smoked for over 30 years and I have been clean for 3 1/2 years now. MA gave me the support to stop and continues to help me keep clean. Good luck!
I know it-s soo hard. I-ve been sober for about 8 days now! :)
What I did was put all my papers, bongs, pipes away and do something else in the time that I was smokin-. Like maybe excercise, or play a video game, or go chill with some non-smoking friends. Sooner or later it will be easier to get weed off of your mind. And whoever tries to give you some weed, just say no. Yes, yes I know it-s hard, but it helps to quit. :)
You don-t
It-s forever homie
why would you want to?

Do you think there should be rehabilitation centers for quit smoking cigarrettes? -

I don-t think there is any, but I think that there should be. Yeah it-s a legal substance, but it can be just as hard to quit as any other addictive drug if not even harder.
Yes I think so, and wondered who else would to... so I like your question. We spend lots of tax dollars on drug addiction for people who can not afford it so there-s no biggie it would spare ALOT of lives it-s such a heard thing to stop for most. They are teaching kids in school now that cigs are a drug, so why not have them.
i think there shouldnt be personally. nor do i think there should be any rehab clinics because you took up smoking yourself, you made that choice other people shouldn-t have to deal with your sacrafices you make, nor your problems. you did the crime now you do the time fixing it up..if thats what you want.. no offence to you or anything!! good luck if your trying to quit
as a smoker i would welcome one. it should be covered by health insurance too.
I think that-s a great idea. It kills so many people and it is impossible for many people to quit on their own, including me. I-ve tried everything. I quit for 3 weeks once, but wanted a cigarette every day and night. And think of the money people would save! Lives would be saved for sure....)(
yes there should be and paid for by the tobacco companys since they admitted it is addictive and unhealthy
Yes, yes, yes. I-d go to one in a minute. A secure enviroment where you couldn-t get cigarettes and no one there smoking around you while you are trying to quit. Great idea, maybe someone will get the hint and open one up....
Sure, as long as the centers are privately funded and don-t take any more tax dollars away from already underfunded schools, and police/fire departments.

I have tried Nicotine patches and gums but they dont seem to satisfy the craving and i end up firing one.
Get some clove oil and dip your finger in it then put the oil on the back of your tongue. You wont want to smoke. Eat more fruit. Its almost a givent that most people that smoke do not eat their daily requirement for fruit and veggies.

Its a bunch of crap they tell you that there is withdrawl symptoms. I thought it would bebad after smoking so much for 10 years then I just quit and waited for it to start......nothing fricking happened. I think it has to do with your mindset going into it.

Chantix. It-s a prescription that is very effective.
Try Rx Chantix, I have tried everything else, this really works. It make you not want cigs, along with some will power. We have a group here on yahoo, of a bunch of quitters, pretty much all of us have quit with chantix. you have to be excepted in the group, I-ll mention your name to the owner of the group, and tell her -Anna in Ca- sent you. At least check it out, you can ask whatever questions you want, there is about 50 quitters always chatting on there. Good luck, see you on the quittin- side... I-m gonna e mail you the link
After smoking for more than 30 years and trying all the -known- remedies, I finally asked GOD to help me. I am addicted to nicotine and no amount of willpower helped me stay off the cigarettes. I had to completely SURRENDER my will and life over to the God of my own understanding in order to break free of this powerful addiction. This worked far better than any gum, patch, food or pill I had tried. Today, I have over 7 years of -smobriety- and thank God every day for being smoke free. Incidentally, during these past 7 years, I have saved over $30,000...clearly not all from quitting but a good chunk of it was....the freedom I feel from being smoke free allows me to do better in all areas of my life, including saving for the future.
I finally realized that I did not have to kill myself anymore..I was doing it slowly with cigarettes. No coincidence that I quit smoking very soon after a divorce...God helped me through that too. No kidding..there is a 12 step program called Nicotine Anonymous...where people go for support and encouragement to quit. I also attended these meetings which helped enormously, too. There are on-line groups, too. Seriously....this is a mighty powerful addiction....take all the help you can find. Good luck and remember...you dont have to quit for the rest of your life....just quit for one day at a time. When you make it through one day, quit the next day for - one more day.- Before you know it, you-ll have a week, then 2 weeks, then a month, then 2 months and on and on...You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found chewing nicorette gum was very helpful. You can get a generic brand of nicotine gum at Walmart called Equate.
be stong and take control, dont let it control you
control on the feelings and always be aware of its harmful effect
Try Quit Assist,
http://www.philipmorrisusa.com/en/quitas…
The site has a wealth of information.

Also try Nicotine Busters, a Yahoo support group. They have a lot of good information as well.

Good luck!!!
I am going through the same issue and it-s been going pretty good. I am older now and in more control of myself and surroundings so it is a lot easier for me now then it was a few years ago. When I have the urge I think about the type of foods I don-t like to eat. I also try to keep a peppermint with me, that cool mint eases the urge a bit.
Stay focus on the reason why you are quiting. I also try to sike my mind to believe that I always thought smoking was discussing you know what I mean....it-s a mental issue also so prepare yourself.
GOOD LUCK!!
It really isn-t addicting unless you let it become addicting. Just stop and think about other thing and just get it off your mind!! Do you really want to die young, do you really want to look like you are 30 when your only 20? Just think about the consquences!! GOOD LUCK!! It is one hard step but totally worth it!!
Chantix worked for me! I had been a smoker for over 20 years. I had tried to quit several times using various patches, gum, and cold turkey. After a stay in the hospital for pneumonia, I finally realized it was time to quit. I have been completely tobacco free for five months now, and have been tested in every way. Even the dreaded out drinking with smokers was no problem. It really worked for me! I hear it is not cheap though. I was lucky that my heath care covered it 100%. Talk it over with your Doctor, you will need a perscription, and no, I don-t work for them! Just happy to be smoke free!
I am still working on it, but what seems to be working for me is realizing when and why I go to smoke a cigarette and then breaking those habits one at a time. For example, I used to go smoke everytime I had a -bored- moment at work when I couldn-t think of anything else to do. Now everytime I have one of those moments I find something else to do such as starting a conversation with a co-worker, looking up a website, getting on yahoo answers, etc. Also, another thing that seems to be helping me cut back is challenging myself every morning to go as long as I possibly can without giving in to a craving. Every day I try to beat the time from the day before. Taking a few deep breaths and exhaling slowly seems to help get through a craving. Set up a small reward for yourself if you beat the time from the day before (i.e. favorite candy, going to eat at favorite restaurant, etc.) I have now made it all the way until 6:00pm without smoking and I-m only smoking about a pack a week now instead of 1/2 to 1 pack a day!. Eventually if I keep beating my times, I will have to go for days, then weeks, then months, and then eventually it won-t be worth it to smoke anymore! Also, don-t give up on trying if you fall back in to your regular smoking routine for a day or so... just start over the next day with the goal of beating the best stretch of non-smoking that you had before. It happens. The best thing is to keep making an effort and don-t get down on yourself if you mess up. Eventually it will work (or at least I hope it will, for both of our sakes, lol!) Good luck!!!!!
try running, you-ll see the difference from when you used to not smoke and now that you smoke and it will make you realize that you need to stop(self-realization.)

this is what I did, maybe it can be of help to you:

1. Well I stopped hanging with my friends for a month, because most smoking is done with friends or social events.

2. I began to exserice to stop thinking about smoking.
(jogging help me realize that i need to not smoke, because I wanted my endurance to last longer)

3. I had two friends that would tell me that i-m doing good and that i don-t need to smoke, basically motivation from another person

4. I also began to chew gum instead of smoking

hope this can be of help, this is what worked FOR ME
american cancer society, call them, they will give you free medicine, gum,or the patch.

Quit Smoking Side Effects Help? -

Quit Smoking Side Effects Help? -

Can anyone out there give me some advice about the quit smoking side effects, I have been smokefree now for two days and I-m having a really rough time. I am almost thinking about starting again, any advice would be useful to me at this stage.
Nicotine can mess with your head and make it seem like you need it to live.

Try to think about positive things and not about smoking. Keep yourself busy. Hang out with friends, go out, anything to keep your mind off of it.

It isn-t easy, but I know you can do it :)

Here are some side effects.

Withdrawal symptoms can include any of the following:

* dizziness (which may only last 1-2 days after quitting)
* depression
* feelings of frustration, impatience, and anger
* anxiety
* irritability
* sleep disturbances, including having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, and having bad dreams or even nightmares
* trouble concentrating
* restlessness
* headaches
* tiredness
* increased appetite

Good luck :D

Tell me your experience.
I haven-t, but a friend of mine did. She went to the hypnotist and he put her under (her husband went with her to make sure nothing funny went on). I-m not sure what he said or did, but she said that she never had another craving or desire for a cigarette from the time she walked out of his office. A week later, her husband went for a session. Neither one of them have smoked since, and that was 15 years ago.
my mother in law tried that. she stopped smoking for about a month. then she started right back up.
no
My mom did after her heart attack. It worked for her.

Will your lungs heal at all if you quit smoking? -

Yes they will, but very slowly. Your body is built to heal itself and if you-re young and healthy enough otherwise, they definately should.
your body is an amazing thing. it-s self healing, it will heal a little but not entirely I recommend adding a respiratory herbal regimen to your daily routine
Yes but it will take a long time. Studies have shown that it will take more than 10 years before your lung return to the original state before you started smoking.
Yes they will. The tar that builds up on the lining of the lungs slowly deminishes once a smoker quits. But the rate of deterioration is much slower than the acumulation of tar if a person continues smoking. Results after a person quits aren-t immediate, but take almost a month before any noticable changes occur in the body. After that first month, the body-s rate of eliminating the tar do increase a little, because the poisen is out of the blood stream. Note that this is a SLOW process, but it is completely beneficial to your health.
Yes, yes, yes!!!!! So QUIT, QUIT, QUIT!!!! It is so important to join the ranks of the non-smokers! The side effects of not smoking will make you deliriously happy. And if you slip -- keep trying; it takes an average of seven tries at it to be successful. Don-t beat yourself up over a lapse. Just think -- it-s not as hard as dieting, because you won-t need to control it like you do food. You can NEVER have another cigarette and live happily ever after and FOR LONGER. Visualize the transition from the nasty, smelly habit, to a new you! Good luck!
i just quit april 4th and i feel better, i had smoked since i was 16 and i am 40 now.
to a certain degree, yes
Yes I have heard they will.Turn pink again and you will also start getting your lung function back as when you smoke your lungs can not get the oxygen your body needs.Your blood pressure will or should, mine did ,go down.So if you smoke it will benefit your overall health to stop now.

How longs does it take for marijuana to get out of your system when you quit smoking? -

i have been a heavy user for years but now have quit and wondering just how long it stays in the system and how to clean it out faster.
It will stay in your system and show up on a drug test for a month. It stays in your system longer than any other drug. There are detox products you can buy at the health food store that work.
It only takes 3 days to clear from your blood stream, but will remain in hair follicles for at least a year.
The damage done to your lungs will clear slightly in 3 months, but the damage is done, and as for brain cells, well they-re dead for good.

Drink cranberry juice and eat fiber.

Congratulations on quitting!
If you have to take a drug test - I have heard six weeks. Some people will tell you that the damage it does to your brain will stay with you forever. Don-t know if that-s true or not.
It takes 3 days for the smoke to clear from your lungs, but that means its 3 days for every joint you smoked... If youve been smoking a joint a day for 3 years, itll take 3 years for your lungs to return to normal.
your looking at about 30 days befor you will be able to pass a screening test
pending on the potencey, anywhere from 2 weeks to 30 days

Is there a way to quit smoking WITHOUT packing on the pounds? -

Is there a way to quit smoking WITHOUT packing on the pounds? -

I-ve quit a few times, but everytime I quit, I gain a lot of weight.
Cigarettes raise your metabolism. If you start exercising while you-re quitting, you can keep your metabolism at the -pre-quitting- levels, and not gain weight.

Good luck!
Yeah, start running at the same time.....I guarentee that you will quit if you form a more positive habit to get yourself out of a negative one. other times carry gum.
consult a therapist.behavior modification techniques like aversion therapy would make you feel aversion towards smoking.
It-s not really quitting then if you started it again...

Anyways, you will be substituting the nicotine with food so of course you-ll gain more weight. Since you smoked, I-m sure your lung doesn-t work as well as you may think...so it will be hard to exercise for a long time as well.

If you want to do it in a hard way, which won-t gain that much weight is to quit smoking, don-t eat so much and do exercise. You-ll be cranky as hell...but you won-t gain weight as much.

If you want to do it in a easy way, which you-ll gain some weight, you-ll quit smoking, eat what you want and don-t do exercise. You will probably be still cranky because you are gaining weight and you are not getting any nicotine. But you-ll be at least be happy to not do so much exercise and you can eat what you want.

Both of them needs -patience-, a lot of it! Good luck and take care. I hope you-ll be able to pull it off soon!
heck no, it is either go out with lung cancer, or with a heart attack for being obeast (lol)
yes.... jog for 30 mintutes every morning or evening, 5 days a week
How about chewing gum or snacking on healthy snacks like veggies and a low cal dip, or sugar free jello. I am sure some of it is simply self-control though. I don-t smoke but I have cousin who has tried numerous times to stop. She often has some special gum with her that is suppose to minimize the cravings. Good luck ... It may seem like an impossible task but you are stronger than the addiction - never forget that.
Drink alot of H2O.
dont snack in replacement for the smokes-in fact when you get a craving-exercise till your out of breath-you-ll realize what smoking has done to your body and see the difference days with no smoke do.
You should try to eat carrots! They are supposed to help when you have cravings and to help it along, try to work out once and a while, like 20 minutes a day. :)
i did it you can, i lost 30 pounds in like 4 months when i quit smoking, i just drank alot of water, you want something to eat when you quit smoking, when i would get that hungry feeling i would just chug alot of water and it would go away for awhile

Do you really gain weight when you quit smoking? -

Do you really gain weight when you quit smoking? -

im on my second day of not smoking and it hasnt been hard so far. ive heard people saying how they put on weight when they quit. i dont want that to happen as im in the process of losing 10 pounds.
so is it true??

also what are some good techniques to keep me away from food?

thanks for taking the time to read this and answer
First, congratulations for making the decision to get your life back and quit smoking and for making it this far. When I quit 19 years ago, it helped for me to stay busy and try not to be around smokers. When you get the urge, take a walk or eat carrots or celery. Some claim that quitting leads to weight gain, but that is because they are replacing one addiction(smoking) for another(eating). Stick with crunchy fruits and veggies - they are healthy for you and your jaw will get tired and you won-t want to keep eating. Keep active and keep your hands busy. Keep telling yourself that you are not only saving your life but you will improve your quality of life and prolong it as well. I wish you great luck on your journey!
Smoking supresses your appetite, so when you stop smoking you have more of an appetite, which is why many quitters eat more and therefore gain weight. You can fight this by not eating all the time (stay healthy, though) and exercising. As for avoiding food, whenever you feel the urge to snack, do something to distract yourself. After a few minutes you probably won-t feel as hungry. You could chew gum, too. You don-t need to go around feeling hungry all the time, though - stock up on healthy snacks so that when you do eat between meals you-re not ruining your diet plans. Good luck quitting!
Hi, the idea that you gain weight when you stop smoking is not entirely true and it can definitely be avoided, although the majority of smokers do gain weight just because of the fact that your body is trying to break a strong habit (smoking) so it tries to cope with it by taking on another habit (eating). The only reason I know this for a fact is that my dad has been a smoker for almost all his life and he did gain quite a bit of weight while trying to quit. Just think outside of the box.... Your body would probably settle for something else just as easily such as chewing sugar free gum. Well, I hope it helps, and the best of luck on quitting smoking.
-Ben
Some people say that you-re gonna gain weight once you quit smoking. I-m not sure if there-s scientific basis behind that. As long as you stay fit and active your weight will do just fine. Try to set a new routine, such as working out or going to the gym. If that isn-t possible, you should try waking up earlier and going for a short walk. If you can turn that walk into a run or a jog, it is going to be very stimulating and the best way that you can start your day.

When you decide to stop smoking, you-ll bring on other changes in your life as well. Smoking is a very addictive habit, meaning that, for others, it is very hard to quit. There are a lot of changes that take place, although exercise can be a big help to you when you decide to quit.
lots of studies have been done and they say that smoking has no direct effect on losing or gaining weight

the only idea out there is that the nicotine can suppress and appetite, but then again, green tea is supposed to do that too, but people take it in pill forms and still stuff their face wondering why they-re gaining weight

some studies suggest that the smoking actually screws with the way your body stores fat and can cause you to GAIN weight

everyone-s body reacts differently, if you-re aiming to lose weight, then quitting may very well help you, especially if you-re making healthy food choices and working out

you should not try to -keep away- from food, that will just make you more hungry, and more likely to over eat

just chose healthier meals and get your body moving every now and then, drink lots of water too!
It can be true.. though the weight gain is generally minimal. Nicotine will increase the bodies metabolism, so the lack of it may result in some weight gain However, if you are already in the process of losing weight, the impact should be minimal.

The health benefits from quitting smoking far outweigh the cocerns over the minimal increase in weight.
yes it can happen because smoking actually helps you loose weight and when you quit you won-t be losing weight anymore.
Don-t avoid food, just keep exercising.
It doesn-t always happen to everyone actually I know people who quit and nothing happened. No weight was gained at all.
Umm I don-t think there is any real evidence of gaining weight after quitting smoking. I think people just get depressed from the lack of nicotine and don-t bother doing any physical activities but this is only temporary. Maybe trying those protein shakes will help with keeping away from food.
yea. it sucks but smoking is good for keeping off weight.

If you were a smoker, would you quit smoking if you had heart problems and your doctor told you to stop smokin? -

If you were a smoker, would you quit smoking if you had heart problems and your doctor told you to stop smokin? -

I quit because I wanted to spend as much time as I can with my son. Besides when your son says to you one day -Daddy do you want to die?- and when you ask him why he says -because you smoke and all people who smoke get sick faster or die faster-.

If that isn-t an eye opener I don-t know what would be. To me that has more impact than what any doctor can say.

I quit smoking when I was 29. Its been a year since I smoked.
Yes. I had to deal with my father having a heart attack when I was in 5th grade. Now, going on two years ago, my father was told he needed to have a pacemaker put in.. he delayed it and delayed it.. Finially made the appt. Few days before the appointment, he called my mom to get a prescription refilled and she noticed something was wrong with his voice.. she told him she was going to call 911 because he was the only person at his work at the time.. by the time the paramedics got there, is heart was beating 20 times per min. The average heart rate is 60-80. Needless to say, he got his pacemaker put in.
I would never smoke because I do not want to put my children through what I had to go through with almost loosing my father.. but in YOURRRR case.. I dont know if you are a male or female, a parent or not a parent... but think of the consequences you face if you do not stop smoking. Doctors dont just get their MD a the end of their name overnight... they know what they are talking about. If they say stop, you better stop or face consequences. Luckily my dad stopped after his heart attack because he wanted to walk me down the isle one day and to see me grow. His heart just in the long run had so much wear and tear on it that he had future problems. So, listen to the doctors so your family don-t have to go through what I had to go through. Good luck and I wish the best for you!
Smoking is one pre dispositions to heart issues , try going to the heart foundation web site and look under smoking and heart issues and you will find there is a Lotte of evidence about smoking and heart issues
consider that smoking may have been partly the reason that you now have heart problems. Of course, you should stop smoking--give your arteries and lungs a break from the stress on them from smoking.

Congratulations on smoking cessation!! As you get further down the road from those nasty cigs you will find that food tastes really good. Try drinking water when you get a munchies attack. Keep celery and radishes in plastic bags in fridge and gnosh on them. I quit 14 years ago. Good luck. Merry Christmas.

How do I get my parents to quit smoking? -

I-m going to Florida really soon and my parents keep saying they are going to quit smoking but they never do... I also hate the stink of it ..
[If that helps..]
You can-t-I-ve been nagging about the smell since I was 5 years old, and the health dangers since I was about 12, and I-m now 42 and still they smoke. My mum has a horrible smokers cough and my dad had a myocardial infarction last year-he came off them for a few months but mum didn-t and so he started back again.

You can-t force them to do something they don-t want to do, sorry. I-ve given up now-they can smoke themselves to death as long as they don-t smoke around me or in my house (I had 18 years of passive smoking and won-t take any more).
Well my mom only smokes and she is actually almost totally cured by taking this new thing where you take a pill a day for a couple weeks and makes you quit. But you can try telling them all the bad things about it thats what i do. But you can-t make them quit because they will most likely quit when they want to quit but you can push them in the right direction. I always told my mom like when she smoked eww and i would say your making everyone around you inhale that too. Then in health class i learned how bad it was for you so i told her all the stuff i learned.

Hope i helped =]

I quit smoking on new years day (this year). Its been almost two weeks. i have never contemplated suicide in my life, but this week i have felt rage and anger (two emotions i am not used to as i am a very passive and peaceful person) and have had extreme suicidal tendencies. the last few mornings i-ve woken up wanting to kill myself and once i arrive at work i feel like killing all of my coworkers. has anyone expirenced this before? i almost feel like its worth smoking cigarettes than dealing with this madness. i feel like i am going insane. i would rather die of cancer in 20-30 years than kill myself because of this feeling!
Yes,so I started again.Good luck!jeremy
Please go to Nicotene Anonymous. Here-s the link:
http://www.nicotine-anonymous.org/

Look up a meeting in your area and go to a meeting TONIGHT after work, and tell someone at the meeting that you-re going through a difficult withdrawal right now and ask for help.

Go to a different meeting again tomorrow -- two meetings on the weekend if you can. Going to more than one meeting will help you find one you feel most comfortable with. Keep going to meetings at least once a week, preferably more if you can. I know it-s time-consuming to attend meetings, and if you-re not familiar with 12-step programs it may all seem strange at first, but you really need the fellowship and practical support from other people who have gone through the exact same thing. Good luck, my friend.
Good heavens, no. If you are contemplating suicide it has nothing to do with smoking. Stopping smoking does not cause that kind of withdrawal. Impossible. If you think that smoking will help you through this, then PLEASE go get some. But you do need help. Big time.
If you are suicidal, please call 1-800-273-TALK or 911.
(1-800-273-8255)
You are sick...if cigarettes mean that much to you, why did you quit? Do your co-workers a favor and take-up the habit again...
I quit not to long ago myself after 10 years of smoking. See your doctor. There are med-s that are used to help you quit. It-s not like you will be on them forever, just a month or so until it gets easier. And it will get easier. Nicotin does so much to your body, you don-t even realize until you don-t have it anymore. The patch helps, too. It is expensive but it does help the craving and it gives your body the nicotine level you need to be able to function until you can wing yourself off. Good luck and God bless. I believe you can do it. If I did it anyone can.
Hi, to be honest not given up smoking and won-t definately after your experience, but re the will to live - I loose it on a daily basis at work. Geeee I need to change my job!!

been smoking for 15 years begging to hate the smell
Well I used to smoke in high school. I smoked for 4 years and decided to quit. I have Asama and I-ll tell you as soon as i stopped, i started using an inhaler. The best way to stop is just smoke less and less each day as you try to stop. Give yourself a reason for stopping. Take care of yourself and start exercising more.....Sometimes, I would love to just pick up a cigarette and start smoking again, but why would i want to do that to myself. The harm outweighs the good. Start believing you can stop, you really can. I also had to stop hanging around my friends because i didn-t want to be around the smoke. Lets see I was in high school then, 15 years later, I still haven-t had a cigarette. I hate the smell too. Funny how that works.
Motivation, motivation, motivation... I will give you 101 reasons on why to quit smoking in the link below...just print them out and read them all every day and every time you crave.. I guarantee the best way is all in your head..It may be tough but you can do it.
-THE ONLY LIMITS ARE THOSE SET BY OUR HEADS-...
I think it just depends on the person. I quit cold turkey 2 months ago. I-m still smoke free.
There-s no best way, what ever works for you.. but hating the smell is a start. .. I-ve quit several times now and I think the whole thing is that you just have to want to not smoke more then you want to smoke.
I quit smoking cold turkey over 6 months ago and LOVE being a non-smoker. No more smelling like a cigarette, no more burn holes, and more money in my pocket. I feel a great sense of accomplishment. I still these websites helpful in my support. Check them out and -Good Luck!!-

straight up, i have got 3 work-mates who have given up smoking straight away through HYPNOTSIM. It cost them about the price of 4 packets of cigarettes. Not only have they geven up but they feel great and aren-t moody! =)
To not do it.
well if you hate the smell... wash everything in your house, febreez what you can-t wash. set a date and quit. I quit on my birthday, it was present to myself. Buy whatever you need, nicorette, or a patch or whatever. Every time you want a cigarette think how bad you stink. After a bout a week it is okay again, and you can SMELL EVERYTHING!
cold turkey is always best. if you can

Which do you think is the best nicotine patch to quit smoking? -

Either from experience in using, expertise or observation. any help would be good.

Also, what other treatments work well to help someone stop smoking?

this is actually a mother-s day gift i want to get my 50 year old mom.
skip the patch and talk to the doctor about Chantix.
It will be a great mother-s day gift to your mom. At 50 years it is imperative that one should quit smoking. Patches are good in reducing the nicotine craving but they do not do anything to reduce the nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

Nicotine withdrawal symptoms are mood swings, anxiety, depression, insomina, irritibility and restlessness. These symptoms appear in varying degrees in different people depending upon the length of time they have smoked. It is vital to reduce these symptoms in the early phase of quitting so that it helps the person in staying away from smoking.

There are a number of aids available, personally I would prefer a natural or herbal remedy for 2 reasons. One, such remedy has no side effects and second it is effective.

For further information visit the following source.

Good Luck!!
Nicocure worked for me, it is a patch that you wear and it is all natural.

It works different than other patches because it does not feed more nicotine into your body so when you come off of it you will not be craving more nicotine.

On their website they have they have a 97% success rate.

i need legit ways to quit smoking, i really want to but ive been smoking everyday for a year almost and multiple times a day. is there things i can do or take to make the urge go down?

* been to a psychologist and that didnt work..
JOhn, remember that weed is NOT addictive. That-s a fact! So it-s an emotional habit only, like biting your nails. You are not physically addicted.
So you do not WANT TO TRY to quit, you are going to quit. It-s all mind over matter. With a little willpower, you-ll see that a natural high is pretty cool.
You can do it!! I know you can!! ;D
It depends on your reasons for smoking. If you-re self-medicating because it makes things make more sense, that could be a sign of ADD or other learning, behavioral, or emotional disabilities. If this is the case, chances are your chemicals are out of balance. You may need more or less norepinephrine, dopamine, or seratonin, which a psychiatrist could assist with in the form of a prescription.

If you-re smoking weed because it-s a habit, then you need to change your habits. For example if there are certain people you always smoke with, you should avoid those people. If you always smoke before you go see a movie, don-t go to the movies.

If you-re looking to escape reality, try a different approach. Lose yourself in a book, or go for a bike ride. Group activities, whether they are formal like NA or group therapy meetings, or informal like youth groups, book clubs, etc., are an excellent way to focus on something else.

I had a baby. That-s what worked for me. I used to smoke just as much as anyone else. But that was years ago. Once I learned I was having a child, I no longer had any desire to.
smoke away. its awesome and how could you wanna smoke. youll quit when you really want or have to. its possible. i done it before. but dont worry about it. it isnt addicting. and you obviously dont wanna go to higher drugs. youre good.
I-m sorry I can-t help you but I just wanted to say I think it-s fantastic you are trying to quit. Best of luck with it, keep positive because now you-ve put your mind to it, you can do anything!
Just remember its all in you head and the more you realize that you dont need it mentally the better off you are. There are plenty of other (cheaper) ways to relax.

I used to smoke 1-2 packs a day.. is there anything i can or should eat to restore my bodys balance
Orange juice. Smoking depletes vitamin C massively. You-re probably deficient in it at this point. Also orange juice has potassium which will give you a boost when you feel run down. It also helps with cravings for a cigarette.
The same diet that I-d recommend anyone. A healthy one packed full of fresh fruits - veggies; lean meats (especially fish); whole grains; low-fat dairy; healthy oils; and lots of water. That along with exercise especially cardio to work the lungs, and a good night-s sleep, should help restore your body pretty quickly. In less than a year, you-ll feel like a different person! Congrats on quitting, I know how hard it is:)
ohh boy.... i quit chew a month ago and have always had very good eating habits, i did not change anything in my diet but i found myself snacking and munching on anything i could find.. my suggestoin to you is this. try to plan out your 3-4 main meals for the day. eat more greens at each meal to try to add fill to your belly without alot of calories. besides, veggies are good for you.. then buy you favorite fruits to have as snacks. if you are not a fruit and veggie person, try to find at least a couple that you can tolerate for your meals. i have a bad sweet tooth, i bought them kids yogurts in a tube.. -gogurts- and threw them in the freezer. they make a tastey frozen snack. i also like sugar free jello, drink alot of water, take a daily multi vitamin each day with breakfast. it dont have to be anything fancy. centrum is fine and economical. and take each day in stride. i still have very hard days and cravings but they go away and i get over it. good luck to ya

I need to quit smoking, im trying to conceive.. help!!? -

I am trying to conceive
and i need some tips to quit smoking..

i dont want the patch, the gum or anything like that..

just some tips and/or ways you or someone you know quit right away.

PLEASSEE HELPP!
I know people who have quit cold turkey, so it can be done. Tell yourself that you will be prolonging your life, preventing premature aging of your skin, making yourself and your clothing smell better, possibly preventing fire or cigarette burns on things, preventing a raspy nasty cough, preventing cancer or emphysema, plus saving a great deal of money over time. You can use the money to do other things you like. Think about that.
I’ve been searching for some time for a list of stop smoking aids, and the pros and cons of using stop smoking herb which can quit smoking naturally. I’ve also noticed that many members of this forum have been asking the same question.

So, I’ve put my findings in a reviews which is free for you to visit at

A question for those trying to quit smoking (or those that have) ? -

A question for those trying to quit smoking (or those that have) ? -

What do you do when you really crave one, you know one of those days where you spill coffee on yourself, your car breaks down, you-re late for work and then you find out that you have to stay late at work.

What do you do when you want one on these days?
I had just quit for two days and today I had a bad day and I already had four. Tommorrow I am starting again.
I.m not trying now, but I have in the past. Know why I couldn-t quit? I didn-t have to will to do it. You can wear patches, which are very expensive, chew the gum, but if you don-t have the will to do it and quit cold turkey, might as well give into the cigarettes. When you do quit you have to stay clear of friends and family that smoke, because that is like setting a beer in front of a reformed alcoholic. If you go with someone that smokes, ask them politely not to smoke in front of you. If they are a true friend, they will respect your request and encourage you to keep off the cigarettes and hope for you to succeed. If they don-t, then get a new friend. The answer is in your mind and your heart and it-s called will. Wishing you the very best young lady and I certainly hope you succeed in your efforts to quit. Even if you to succeed, days, months or even years down the road, you-ll get a craving for a cigarette, just stand firm and don-t give in.
Just remember that if you even light one up you may never quit again. I started smoking when I was 15 and quit for 55 days when I was 18. I had a couple of drinks one night and lit one up. It took me 12 years before I quit again. Finally I was smoking 3 packs a day, and coughing all the time. I finally could not even inhale to smoke. All because I lit that one cigarette. Remind yourself that you are in control. You already quit so keep that promise to yourself. Be nice to yourself, you deserve not to suffer for years to come.
change your -smoking habits- do other things. the urge only lasts a few minutes.
i chew gum, eat ice cream etc...anything that makes me stop thinking of smoking and keep myself busy.
