How do I quit smoking? -

I really would like to quit smoking. I know there are so many reasons why I should, physically and financially. I hate the smell of smoke on my clothes, in my car, etc. and I can-t stand when other people smoke around me. My only obstacle is that I actually really, really enjoy having a cigarette, and that keeps me from going through with trying to quit. Is there anyone else out there who really liked smoking who was able to quit successfully, and if so, how did you do it?
This is a tough one. I quit for 4 years - had to do it cold turkey. My husband used the patch - I couldn-t it caused me rashes. Unfortunately. I was weak and started again - stress, etc. I-m weak. Good luck. I have heard there-s a new medicine that-s great and my doc recommended it. It-s called Chantix. I-m really considering it. We-ll see. If you want more information, the website is www.chantix.com. I haven-t tried it yet, but it comes highly recommended.

Edit: Don-t listen to -mind-over-matter.- Nicotine is an addictive drug. You will need help. I know from experience. After 4 years, I started again and want to quit again and am trying and have had to seek professional help. visit the website I referred to above and talk to your doc about it. You will also need to be strong mentally, but you can do it and so can I.
Stop lighting cigarettes. It-s not a disease, it-s not an addiction, it-s a habit. Replacement therapy works as well. I quit a couple of years ago, by keeping hard candies or gum in my pockets. When I-m at bars, I keep drinking; alternating sodas with alcoholic beverages, of course.
Mind over matter. Don-t buy any smokes!
y dont u get hypnotized? some people say it works!
that-s nice to hear..all you need is self-discipline..ask yourself first how many packs of ciggarette you can consume in a day?.. let-s say for example 5 packs..then have a goal..the next day reduce it to 4 and so on..until 2 sticks per day..later on you-ll realize that you get rid of smoking.. GOD Bless..
U stop. Contact a doctor 4 help.
They make a hand gel that-s called nicogel. I heard it works pretty good. all u have to do is put in on ur hands and it gives u nicotene through ur hands. So now all u have to worry about is second hand handshake instead of second hand smoking. hehe
My friend did it cold turkey. He just put mind over matter.
I stopped the 1st of January this year after reading Allen Carr-s book -the easy way to stop smoking-. I really enjoyed smoking before I stopped (I have smoked a packet a day for 15 years). But after I read the book I just didn-t want to smoke anymore.

If you think about it, how enjoyable is it actually to inhale poisonous smoke through your lungs? Wouldn-t it be more enjoyable just to inhale clean air, which your body needs? Please read Allen Carr-s book, he explains all the myths about smoking - that we as smokers believe - and after reading it you will want to stop smoking. Don-t cut down, or stop before you read it. You don-t have to use will power or go through horrible withdrawal symptoms. First you will decide you will never smoke again, and when you feel ready you will smoke your last cigarette.

I know I have only been a non-smoker for three weeks, but I honestly can say I will never smoke again. I hardly ever think about cigarettes, and I didn-t experience any horrible with drawal symptons. I am just happy I don-t smoke anymore. And yes, before I read the book, I really enjoyed smoking.

You can read Allen Carr-s latest book about nicotine for free at
http://www.easywayscotland.co.uk/Scandal…

It will make you start thinking about cigarettes and nicotine in a different way. But unfortunately I can-t find -the easy way to stop smoking- anywhere for free - but it just costs three packets of cigarettes : o )

Good luck.
i was a chain-smoker but i hate smoking now.plz follow here the ways below:
1) u should have a very strong will n always psych up urself.
2) don-t go to those smoking areas n away urself from smoker at least 4 six mth.
3) u w-d always feel ur tongue itchy n u always want to spit, eat something like menthol sweet, hack sweet n chewing gum.
4) do more exercises like swimming, gymp, aerobic dance, yoga etc.in order to have a good sweat.
5) sleep early at night n wake up early in the morning, some jogging 4 fresh air in the morning.
if u really follow my above ways,u can forget the smoking like me now.remember to persevere!

best wishes.
stop putting that death stick in your mouth GOD! 13itch
You will stop when it is time to stop. If this is your time to stop, you will need a 72 hour detox period away from stress and responsibility. Forget the patches and gum, they only prolong the agony. Once you are detoxed, you will simply adapt to being an ex smoker. And you must accept that you cannot risk even one cigarette, for one will set off the addiction all over again. And yes, some cigarettes are quite enjoyable but you will simply have to live without that pleasure. It-s history. You will adapt.
See how sneaky nicotine is? Smokers think we actually enjoy smoking..NOT TRUE! We enjoy the feeling we get from nicotine..think about it next time you have a cig. Do you really enjoy sitting there inhaling smoke into your lungs and then walking inside wondering if you stink or do you like the relaxing feeling you get after you have a cig. It-s all a mind game..just have to look at it a different way. Good luck!!
All I can suggest you can do is cut down gradually until you-re not smoking anymore. However, in my opinion, the VERY BEST way to quit is to never ever start in the first place. I just wish I knew that before I tried it.
my time to quit.com
If you truly want to quit smoking, you will do it, no matter how hard it seems but you have to make up your mind. I tried 6 times before this current one, which has been 1 month now. (cold turkey) The physical cravings were strong for 4-5 days, but not strong enough because I had my mind made up. Now I don-t even want one or to be around them. The mental cravings will take longer. Try chewing gum or sucking on candy. Doing physical activities also helps a lot.
my mother always smoked, always. she liked it, couldn-t live without it.... she quit, fast and for good (so far), first try with some new med (available within the past few months), go to your doctor and ask about meds to help you.
I did the patch and it worked wonders! That, and keeping active and keeping busy so I didn-t think about smoking so much. Also maybe getting together with other people, whether on here in chat, etc to talk about quitting and getting over the addiction.
I am on day 22 of no smoking after 13 years of smoking (since the age of 15). I feel like I was in a similar situation as you as there was part of me that really liked my cigarettes, but I also hated the smell, as well as the perception by many others of smokers being -dirty-. As a health care professional, I also have seen the long term effects of smoking so that was a big motivation.
However, the one thing that really helped me to quit is the fact that I would like to have kids in the next few years, and I want to give my baby(ies) the best possible chance in life, which they wont get if i am a smoker. Every time I think of having a cigarette, I think of how much MORE I want healthy kids. It really helps to have a concrete reason not to, because you can always find a reason to (had a bad day, stressed out, out with friends).
I spent a couple of weeks being somewhat antisocial, but was able to go to a bar with my friends this weekend and did ok. I have to say that the commit lozenge has been my lifesaver. I dont know if I would have made it this far without them, and I have been slowly cutting down on these. It helps you get rid of the psychologic aspect of the disease (habits like having one after a meal, when stressed, etc) without having the absolute torture of the physical nicotine withdrawal. GOOD LUCK!!!!
First You Got To Want To Quit.
think about that will happen to you when you will get older and try nicoderm
and I will never smoke not in my entire life!
I used to smoke, drink, eat too much, you name it, but when I decided to quit, I just did, that is it. You gotta really want it then you can. If you come up with excuses of why you can-t or why you should just have one more cigarette, you don-t really want to.
Just say you-ll quit and do it. It really is that simple. Sure you are going to have cravings, but they will pass. You might even gain some weight (I never did) so you-ll lose that too. Like one of the answers said, it truly is just willpower. Believe in yourself, consider yourself worthy and strong enough to do it. And if you fall of the horse, don-t use that as an excuse to start again, don-t be too hard on yourself, just stay the course. Truly, you can do it
And Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-):-):-)
dont light up another one
I really enjoyed smoking, but it came down to a pack of smokes or putting gas in my car, the gas won out. It was hard work, I went cold turkey, I really think this is the best way to go, it gets the nicotine out of your system the fastest, it takes about 3 weeks for this to happen, the way I survived it was by eating Altoids, a very strong mint, I would eat two any time that I couldn-t do with out a cigarette, then I would take three deep breaths and inhale the Cinnamon, (that was the flavor I used) this would help the craving, I also tried to stay away from friends for those weeks because I knew that I was very moody.
don-t buy any more. I quit cold turkey and never looked back. You really have to want to quit
Well, My mom is allergic to patches and smoking gum so..... She threw all of her cigarette-s out and started chewing Trident* gum when she really wanted one. Shes been doing this for a month and its working pretty well.

I have been smoking for over 30 years. I have cut down significantly since my son was born, never smoking around him, never in the house. I would like to kick the habit and would like some advice on who has used what produce and had the most success.
-Different strokes for different folks!-,...yeah, I know, It-s corny,
but it-s also true!

Check with your Doctor and get some advise from American Cancer Society and/or the American Lung Association!

Best of Luck to you and yours!
My mom smoked for a while. She could tell that she was having trouble breathing and would cough alot.

She went to the doctor and he prescribed Chantix. It is a great -stop smoking- medicine that works significantly.

She stopped smoking in about 5 days. She said that the cigarette didnt even taste good, and that it made her nauseated.

Many other people at my workplace have tried it and it has worked for them also.
Will power and the knowledge that the problem is the habit and not the nicotine.
The difficulty of nicotine withdrawal may be the single most over- rated thing that-s ever come down the pike .In point of fact it-s not that big a deal .We-ve all had colds that made us feel much worse. The only reason that we think it-s a big deal is that we hear stories and over time the stories grow as stories will and the next thing we know we-re staring at a huge gorilla that we don-t even want to mess with-and the gorilla isn-t real
By the end of the first week of not smoking you-ll feel fine-promise
You have a great thing to motivate you: your son
Then you gotta start dealing with all those things that you have a cigarette with issues . I did the Kojak thing and tossed a bag of Tootsie Roll Pops in my car

So you change your behavior a bit ,
You don-t hang out with people who smoke or go to places where smoking is allowed
Maybe you eat something instead of havng a cigarette
And you will get thru it
Good luck
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
you need to associate the urge to smoke with something else-it-s all in the brain. Say everytime you get the urge to smoke you grab a bottle of water and drink it. After time your brain will associate those two with smoking and you will be over the habit!
My husband used the recording from independentachievement.com and quit cold turkey. But you really have to want to quit...not for anyone but yourself.

How to quit smoking? -

what are some good ways to quit smoking cigarettes? I need help im only 16 and been smokin over 5 years.. -- i wanna quit for health reasons and i cant really afford it.. so can u help
I used Welbutrin to quit smoking. It changed my life.
I was able to quit about 6 months ago after reading this book -Allen Carr-s Easy Way To Stop Smoking-. The author is an ex chain smoker who has a very clear understanding of the smoking addiction. His approach is to challenge the validity of all of the reasons we think we need to smoke and leaves the reader with little desire to continue smoking by the end of the book. This makes it much easier to get through the physical cravings while quitting. Any time I get a craving Im able to challenge what is making me want to smoke. So far his ideas have worked and Im pretty confident I won-t go back. His book should be available at your local library if you cant afford to buy it. Good luck!
Hi Theresa,
I do know how to do this easily, cheaply and quickly.

Unfortunately, I got rapped over the knuckles recently for telling someone how to find the solution to their problem on an open forum.
Maybe you-d like to send me a private email?

Blessed be.

What is the best way to quit smoking marijuana? -

Send me your stash.
well marijuana has no physically addictive chemicals in it. so truthfully if you want to stop smoking all you have to do is stop smoking. just dont find yourself saying -i need to smoke- make sure your saying -i want to smoke- when i have to stop because of a drug test i still hang out with my friends when they smoke except i have fun with them and try to tweak them out as much as possible. its really cruel but one of the funniest things you can do.
uh? stop inhaling and take the joint out of your mouth.
nothing else to it. If its become a habit for you just do something else besides smoke. (anything, watch tv or something)
its not addictive. and if you think it is you-ve just tricked yourself into thinking weed is addictive.
marijuana is not addictictive so if you really want to stop then just stop. its really that easy. dont whine no you dont know how hard i do because i smoked every day for about 15 yers, then i had kids and relized i cant keep ******* around. they are late teens now and they have accually invited me to smok with them haha apple dosent fall too far from the tree.
peace sonnn.
pick up a sport like skating football etc. make sure you have things to do during weekends when you-re board like video games and friends also don-t loose you stoner friends just make some new friends to that you can hang out with while you other friends are blazing after a while you will loose the habit of wanting to get high and you be fun hey at least its not addicting
To all the people who say it-s not addictive - YOU HAVE NO IDEA. It ruins peoples lives because ADDICTS can-t give it up, they would rather smoke it than give up, even though they know what it is doing to them and the people around them. It kills your brain cells. It can cause as much damage to your lungs as cigarettes. You just have to have the strength to stop and keep telling yourself you are doing this to improve your life, because it will. Good luck.
honestly? you might not like this answer..

i used to smoke weed. Alot. then one night, the guy i get it from only had half of what i-d paid for, so he gave me 2 grams of P. Cubensis (Shrooms). I-d never had thought that i-d do shrooms before this moment, but i thought, eh, what the heck?

after this night i-ve done shrooms a total of about 3 more times. now, i never get that, -god i wanna get high- type feeling. (I-ve spaced the shrooms use a week apart each trip), and for the past week i haven-t smoked any at all. the WANT is just not there. i could care less now, about being high. i actually have to force myself to smoke it, just so that i can get something in me.

so, by experience, the only way i know is to have a very good shrooms trip. the only problem from there is weening yourself off of the shrooms.
Do you like to smoke ? Does is have effects that you dont like ? Does it impair you ? If it has negative effects then think about that. Once you stop it is easy to continue not smoking. You wont even feel like you need to smoke.
**** rehab. Wedd isnt addictive (physically), just stop smoking it, thats it. I used to smoke a lot and one day i just dropped it, never felt the urge to go and smoke at all.
considering marijuana is not physically addicting.. stop buying sacks.

But, why quit?
I personally don-t think it-s addictive, so just...don-t smoke it. I have no problem not smoking it even if I have for a month straight or so. Just keep yourself occupied with other things.
Marijuana is not addictive. The best way to quit is to not buy any more.
Start by hanging out with people who don-t. Much of addiction is related to surroundings.
Go to a med school and ask to see an open cadaver-s lungs, makes you think of a sewer pipe.
just quit, throw out the pipe, papers or bong...wht ever uve got and take up a new hoppie just make sure its not a bad one
Start smoking poles
rehab
start smoking crack.
SMOKE

ARE YOU SMOKING YET?
dont start
Take THC pills.

Is undergoing hypnotise worth AU$300 to quit smoking? -

Is undergoing hypnotise worth AU$300 to quit smoking? -

did it work for anyone? The price seems very high to me however they do guarantee it will work.
It never worked for my sister-in-law she tried everything even acupuncture the only thing that works is strong will.

I gave up years ago and it was hard and took me a few goes what finally did it for me one christmas my mother-in-law had a friend over for dinner and he had one of those things in his throat to talk through that was it.

Years later though I had strong cravings for a smoke and felt like taking it back up but I remembered how hard it was to give up in first place and I haven-t had one for 23 yrs.

So phyche (stupid spell check) yourself up you can do it and save that money to buy yourself a well earned reward when you do.
Good luck and remember its all in the mind.
A work colleague underwent hypnosis and did stop smoking almost immediately.

She was told at the time that she would need to come back once a month or so for -top up- sessions, but after a month of no cigarettes she felt she did not need to go back. Unfortunately, she did start smoking again.

I have since found out it takes about three months for the nicotine build up in the blood stream etc to cleanse from the body, and during this time is when you need most support, etc.

Through following a three month long programme I was able to stop smoking and have not re-started, and now believe that my colleague should have returned for the -top up sessions-, to give herself a real chance to quit permanently.

If you are in a health fund, you will probably be able to get a rebate for the money you spend to quit, and with cigarettes at almost $20 a pack, if you are smoking a pack every couple of days ~ well, seriously, $300 is not really that much, is it?

Best wishes and good luck in trying to quit! I smoked for over 30 years and quitting was the best thing I-ve done since my first fag.

Cheers :-)
Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums or hypnosis especially. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

I agree that to quit smoking you need to deal with the psychological addiction more than the physical addiction. But do you really need information to be force feed into your brain, I highly doubt it.

If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. You can do this yourself, it is totally unnecessary to pay someone a ridiculous amount of money to do this for you.

Visit our blog for more information and to download our free book.

Good Luck and Good Quitting

How I see it is you can try it out and if it works then great you have just saved yourself years of pain and lots of money, if it only works for a few months then you have probably spent less on the treatment then you would of on smokes in that time anyway so it hasnt been a waste of money!!! You might go out and spend $300 on patches and gum and still end up smoking, or do what my hubby did and was still smoking while wearing the patches (thats just double expensive)
I think you should try it because on the chance that it will work you will be so much better for it for the rest of your life, finacialy better off and healthier!!
My aunt smoked heavily for 40 years or so (in every photo we have of her, she has a cigarette in between her fingers) and went for one hypnosis session and never smoked again. We were shocked and waited for her to slip up (because we believed hypnosis was expensive quackery) and she never did. She still occasionally held pens between her fingers like a cigarette if she was distracted while writing something, but it was out of habit I think!

In the decades since, I have learned about and consider hypnotherapy and hypnosis by a competent professional very effective for a lot of things.

If they guarantee it will work then I assume they-ll give you your money back if it doesn-t so there is nothing to lose.
my mum tried this out

she-s been a smoker since she was 18 or so (she-s 47 now)..
it worked well for the first few weeks after, but after a month or so she found her cravings just came back and she had to resort back to the nicotine gum or what not to control them..

apparently the same thing happened to some of her friends who tried this too... worked great for the first month or so, cravings completely gone, they could be around smokers all day and not get one
but then after that it went back to the -status quo- and they needed cigarettes againn

so now shes skeptical of all these hypnosis remedies/schemes.. (and theres plenty out there)
i would wager you-ll get the same effect with just ordinary nicotine gum, inhalers, what not without forking out 300 dollars

up to you, just my mothers experience makes me have less faith in hypnosis as a cure

edit - Like the user below said, you have to really want to stop - have some willpower.. they-ll tell u that
you can-t just go there and say -oh gee this thing better work-, you need to be able to have the willpower to resist cigarettes after the hypnosis wears off, so to say (which is easier after you haven-t had one for a month or so but still hard for some people with -addictive personalities-)
It worked for my husband. He got hypnotised and never touched a cigarette again. That was 12 years ago. I still smoke - very occassionally and it does not bother him at all. But apparently for it to work you have to be giving up because you really want to, not because you think you should. Something to do with the mind? I think he only paid about $100 but that was a long time ago. Good luck.
if you are willing to part with $300, then you-re showing the will power to quit. altho, maybe you should spend it on patches like someone else mentioned. i guess it-s like going to the gym - if you pay for the membership, u might have an incentive to go cos otherwise you feel like ur wasting ur money!
If it works, its worth more than that.

Just in case, do your research to find out about the hypnotist and if it works.

Good luck
Spend your $300 on patches. I smoked for 18years and tried to give them away many times without success. Finally got onto the Patches and gave up first time. No ciggies for nearly 10 years. I will never smoke again
Not everyone can be hypnotised. Even ten times this figure is worth to stop smoking. Cost in the end is an early painful death.
Take them up on it and if it don-t work go sue them.
Darlin, it-s worth every 6 pence of it. DO IT !!!
I-d try quiting yourself first and if it-s too hard spend the money. Your health is worth it.
Make sure there-s a guarantee... Is your life worth 300 Dollars?
no
i dont believe in hypnosis
have you heard of willpower?
yeah well start using it

I just quit smoking; how do I not pack on the pounds? -

I-m about 5-3- and weighed about 120 pounds until I quit smoking 4 weeks ago. I-ve gained 4-5 pounds since and feel like I-m just getting fatter. Does your metabolism eventually pick up again?

I-m trying not to eat everything in sight, trying to eat lots of fruits and veggies and just chew gum and have sensible meals (and an occasional tootsie roll or Jolly Rancher, or a pound of brownies sometimes! lol). I also started walking on a treadmill 1/2 hour to an hour 5 days a week, with situps or crunches afterwards.

What more do I have to do?! Please help!
I-ve quit smoking twice now and both times it was hard to do. If you haven-t smoked in 4 weeks, you are doing really good. Your metabolism will be fine if you avoid fats and starches. This can be done by focusing more on green vegetables, corn and fruit. Eat all the protein you can get your hands on. Whenever you feel hungry, just pop a bananna and drink a glass of water. The key is dealing with your hunger without overeating. Fill up on vegetables all you want. Replace wheat with corn. After a week you will feel great. Also, the key to succeeding on the treadmill is breathing. The more air you breathe, the more fat you burn. You can do it, grow and be healthy!
Remember to give yourself some credit once and a while. thanks for the vote.

work out, like aerobics and stuff, and congrats on quitting :)
I know its hard but hang in there I quit many years ago - put on the weight but I did lose it..
however I suggest drinking lots of water as that will make you feel full so you will not want to eat
STAY away from sweets, eat the veggies - fruits - stick to it stay with your exercise - that will help you keep the weight off then you can reward yourself with a sweet

good luck
I would keep my hands busy doing crafts or exercising something like that
Chew sugarless gum or peppermints. This will suppress your appetite. By quiting smoking your appeitie will grow automatically. This will help. Good Luck!!!
Just stick to lollipops. It-s helps with the addiction to that motion, and it-s less calories.
when i quit everytime i wanted a cigerette i would do something that i couldn-t do while smoking like fold clothes or clean house not only did i quit but my house was spotless GOOD LUCK and take it one day at a time
Your metabolism will absolutely pick back up. The more active you are, the higher your metabolism will be and the harder your body will be working to shed the extra calories...EVEN WHEN YOU AREN-T EXERCISING! Also be advised, that the sit-ups and crunches wont do much as far as the way you look until you shed the weight that-s covering your abs! keep up the hard work and you will have exactly the body that you want to have! :)

Since I quit smoking why am I addicted to food? -

Ever since I quit smoking 2 months ago I can never get enough to eat. I am not hungry but I am allways munchie. Will some one please help me before I become to fat to stay quit?
that is because u used to put something in ur mouth which is cegarets and there is a soluation to it
try to eat gum all the time
munch a gum.....food is a total different addiction nothing to do with cigarettes but equally harmful
Freud would probably say you have an oral fixation...you have switched from one habit that concerns your mouth to another. Its natural...but thats why most people chew chewing gum when they quit smoking!
1. You are satisfying a need for oral stimulation.
2. Quitting smoking enhances your sense of smell, and therefore your sense of taste. (Actually, it just resumes normal operation...)
3. You need something else to do with your time. When you were bored before, you would smoke, now you eat.
4. Nicotine is an appetite supressant. You got your appetite back when you quit.
Nicotine dulls your appetite plus you have given up a habit that kept you from thinking about food. Try chewing gum.
I am experiencing the same thing.I think your bodys craving nicotine and the only other thing it naturally craves is food.
simple ur fat lol
one of the benefits of smoking is getting your sense of smel and tase back to normal so things tase better and you can smell things better.
One reason is your taste buds are recovering from years of abuse so food taste better. And your have less to do during the day for both your hands and your mouth to do. Try chewing on gum and other low cal things during the day, and pick up a hobby that uses your hands allot, like crossword puzzles.
You-re substituting... Why do you think people gain weight after they stop smoking?
you have a habit of having a cig. in your mouth so now that you dont have a cig. you use food.
The urge to smoke is very similar to urge to eat. So when you quit you confuse the 2 urges.
Try a book called Allen Carrs Easy way to stop smoking this is what I used it was great. And easy.
If I can help you shed that weight you-ve put on let me know, I-m a personal wellness coach
because when you smoke food tastes bad so when you stop smoking it starts to tast egood and you want more of it
Food tastes better now, don-t eat anything unless you really, really want it!
You have to be honest with yourself.
I quit smoking 5 years ago this Dec 31, I was real sleepy at first, not terribly hungry. It was like I was in a coma. Apparently it effects different people different ways.
Don-t give up! Congratulations on the 2 months!

I have quit smoking just a few days ago. In addition to that I started a new therapy called bio cranial! In addition to that I am suffering from very weird burps (foul), a lot of gas (foul). My stomach has bloated up to lets just say huge, I look about 6 months pregnant. I am a female. Of course, I am eating a lot but I am also walking. Is it possible that my body is reacting not only from quit smoking but also from new therapy? Any enlightment or thoughts would be great.
Probably you are going through nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

You might try a natural remedy to control your withdrawal symptoms. Recently medical science has confirmed that many of the herbs used to treat addiction in traditional medicine are effective in helping to control and prevent a wide range of symptoms as well as the craving
associated with withdrawal from substances like nicotine and other drugs.

Check the following source for some good ideas.

Burping a lot.....bloating....not good. See your Doc.
See a doctor,
You may also be swallowing air, especially at night now. My cousin is an RN, and I have this problem, as a smoker, I use to get a lot of air in my stomach, it is from the reflex of your mouth breathing from smoking cigarette-s. The way we inhaled cigarette-s, and are body-s way of remembering how to breathe, from the way we have trained it by smoking for so long. Plus also sounds as if your body-s trying to adjust to the quitting of the cigarette-s, and your stressing it in a different way now, so it will take time to adjust to your new ways. I would try some breathing techniques, slow deep breathing or something to help you relax. I am not familiar with Bio Cranial, so I have no suggestions on that. Good luck and way to go on quitting. Oh you might also try some over the counter mylanta for your stomach, or some type of stomach releiver such as what they give infants for colic.
I never smoked in my life thank God! But i think my mother was telling me that if she crews gum alot all day that it will help. She also stated something about Welbutrin.
Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! this has worked for me before. i think of something really expensive i want to buy, and all the money i save from cigs. i put towards that. it builds up fast. be very careful though, i was stressed one day after not smoking for months and had a few drags of a cigarette and it was all over. i have the next 2 days off of work though and am going to quit again. good luck!
I know that the chemist, who are selling the Ayurvedic medicine ,are also keeping the packet of Herbal Cigarettes,,yes, try that for some time then quit that herbal also and chew the Ilaichi,Lavang,Taj etc.this will help you to quite cigarettes. The strong will and determination to do particular thing or not to do the another.will be your strenth.
Tell someone close. Make them guide you in your way back to health. If you have a goal, and you have committed yourself to it, and have people backing you up and supporting you, it will be a lot easier to quit. Additionally, get some anti-smoking gum to help lower your cravings for nicatine. Drink lots of water.

Good luck!
I quit cold-turkey. I was about to get married and just threw them away. That was 14 years ago. My dad just quit after 50 years of smoking-cold turkey. Not this does not always work and takes a ton of will power. Nicorette is good. Make sure that you have support from friends and family..good luck with that.
my mum smoked for years.
have support ... i kept reminding her she could develop cancer, her teeth would rot, and i wouldn-t get to see my mum while i grow up. she quit after i kept reminding her. it took a while but it was so worth it.
drink a glass of milk every time you want a cigarette, then smoke. it taste horrible. sooner or later the sensors in you brain will start subing the cigarette crvaing for a milk craving.

How can i quit smoking? -

I quit once for 5 1/2 yrs, but now have been smoking for 3 yrs. I know i need to quit, but it is so hard.
I used to smoke, the only way that I did it was pure willpower and mind over matter. You can do anything that you set your mind to, if you truly want it bad enough. So, go over again the reasons why you want to stop smoking, is it for yourself or for someone else? If it is for yourself, then you are already half way there. Also, while you are trying to quit, don-t put yourself into situations or environments where you are going to be tempted to smoke because other people are smoking. Last but not least, make sure you have the support of your friends and family. If you are trying to stop smoking, others should respect this and not smoke around you.
I had a lot of luck quitting a few occasions (the most recent about 6 years quit). I went with the nicotine patches, every day I-d put it on a little later and take it off a little earlier before bed. I also had lots of jolly ranchers candy for the hand to mouth motion. I-ve generally been able to wean off in under 2 weeks that way.

Good Luck!
there is a great internet place called www.stopsmokingcenter.net make sure you dont go to the one with the .com, i have used it and it has worked for me. it is interactive and psychs you up to do it beforehand.
cold turkey
Go see someone who can help you! Or try just not to do it! (eventhough it may be hard)
Ask your doctor for prescription choices. I think there are several that your doctor could prescribe that could help with the cravings and the anxiety but I can-t remember their names right now.
I strongly recommend the patch...At my work several of us quit at the same time. All of us who quit with the patch are now 5 months free of cigarettes! I smoked for 13 years, and a friend smoked for 35 YEARS! If we can do it, you absolutely can!
don-t take enough money for cigarretes, cos it damages the lungs and kidney plus it reduces your life span.
You can get into self-improvement classes.

Buy a book called -Easy way to quit smoking- I swear to God I stopped smoking without any withdrawal symptoms.
EDIT: DO NOT TAKE CHANTIX!!!!! I saw a colleague of mine who was 27 spend 19 days in the ICU where we work after taking chantix. It caused a P.E. and almost killed him. The medication has also be associated with: suicidal editions, homicidal thoughts, sleeplessness, dizziness, syncope, P.E., respiratory distress and arrest. Seriously it is a dangerous medication that should have never left the preclinical phase of testing.
chantix...my sister smoked for 7 years...our doctor suggested chantix. she started taking chantix and continued smoking as usual. about a week later she said that all of the sudden she had no desire to smoke.

it is expensive but it is worth it.
I tried like 10 times to quit smoking. Longest period was maybe a week! All the time i was thinking about smoke. I fail and fail again. No apothecary did not help me and i was not mentally to strong to quit!
And one day i met my old classmate who was smoker to and he give that web site what helped him.Now he has not smoking many years and i about 4 months and think i ever will.
Hopefully it helps u to!!

Is there any link between quitting smoking and heart disease.? -

Is there any link between quitting smoking and heart disease.? -

I know smoking is a cause for heart disease. I know 430,000 people die every year in America due to smoking related disease, heart being the major one. I know smoking is too bad and it has to be even banned like cannabis or any other drug. I know smoking is dangerous extraordinaire. And yet, I read somewhere smokers who quit smoking may develop serious heart disease within 2 years fromn the date they stopped smoking. Is it true?
There may have been a study on this, I haven-t seen it. The problem is that these people may have had the same complications if they continued to smoke. It might not mean that quitting is bad for you, it might be that quitting too late is bad for you.

BTW: I-ve been smoke free for 2 weeks.
Heart disease usually is caused by a build up in the arteries. Heart attack can result because the blockage restricts the amount of oxygenated blood that gets through the heart. Without oxygen, the heart does not function properly. The cause of blockages? Poor diet. Control your diet and exercise.

Smoking can lead to a NUMBER of terrible illnesses. Applaud yourself for quitting. Your lungs have a number of stretchy tissues that enable them to expand. Smoking DESTROYS them. While they may be able to heal, sometimes people smoke for so long that they don-t have TIME to heal. Living with any type of COPD such as Emphesyma or Chronic Bronchitis is not fun. Emphesyma causes the alveoli (where carbon dioxide and oxygen are exchanged) to collapse and complications follow.

Stop smoking.
Learn to eat healthy.
Be active.
Chances are those people would have died even sooner had they not quit! Every cardiologist will tell you that one of the most important things you should do for your heart if you smoke is to quit NOW!

Of course it-s easier said than done, but if you-re worried about your health, it-s a must.

Some help can be found here
http://www.smart-heart-living.com/quit_s…
in terms of reasons to quit along with some resources that might be helpful.

Good luck!
The smoking hazards are over exagerated,, over smoking is injurious like every otherthings.. Once stoped smoking the effects heal.
It-s very possible but not because they quit. The effects of smoking will stay with you for years. It dissipates over time but doesn-t just disappear when the cigarettes do.
smoking does cause heart decease and its been proved time after time not to mention other complications your body does heal its self but it all depends how long a person has been smoking for

I just quit smoking and feeling very emotional? -

I-m wearing the patch. Everything that-s in my head, falls right ou tof my mouth. I feel like I can-t stop it. Petrified I am going to say something off the wall to a client. I-m a pretty stoic woman and I don-t cry. I can-t stop now. Cried earlier about not finding a file. I-m on day 3 and I feel a mess. I am absolutely commited to quitting. I have been running and doing a bit of yoga and trying to keep my hands. How long will this last? Why am I emotional? Where is my net in my head that keeps things I shouldn-t day in my head? What is causing this? I am prefectly miserable. Except the air. It-s windy today and the air smell postively marvelous.
Well thank God it is Friday and hopefully you have off for the weekend. It is a chemical addiction that affects the pleasure center of your brain. Some people are more addicted to the nicotine and some people are more addicted to the actual habit. You are very addicted to the nicotine. I would accelerate the physical withdrawal, which creates the emotional dis-ease that you feel now by drinking a lot fluids, purified water and pure juices, sleeping more, and generally staying to yourself this weekend. Then you should take brisk walks in the cold during your lunch breaks during the week. Your emotions are not rational, but neither are drugs, and nicotine is a drug. You may say something off the wall..or cry for awhile, but try to remember it is the drug, not you.

However you may be a stress smoker on top of everything else so you must take up a healthful habit to control your stress level..read on.

You may want to get some meditation tapes, and relaxation tapes so you can impact the pleasure centers of your brain without the drug nicotine, and more importantly so you deal with stress better..overeating, and drinking alcohol are counterproductive substitutes to smoking. Also caffeine may stimulate your desire for cigarettes as well so try to reduce it a bit...
yeah did too and im kinda in the same situation.... just i have more han 3 weeks without smoking and im still emotional... but i guess it will go in a few days, just relax
Congrats on quitting smoking. I quit cold turkey the day I found out I was pregnant and have been smoke free for almost 2 years. Unfortunately I couldn-t use anything like the patch since I was pregnant BUT I ate like crazy so that helped. You will get through it and venting about something that stresses you out even if it-s to your wall or pet will help tremendously. LOL. Seriously that worked for me. I yelled at my fridge and slapped it a couple of times since that-s where I spent most of my time when I first quit and it never talked back or got smart with me or told me off and I felt so much better afterwards.
I think that you need to talk to a counselor or your doctor because it looks like your feelings
are out of control.
spray windex
I would stock up on sugarless lollipops. Lots of diabetic products out there...gotta have them somewhere. Your probably still used to the motion of hand to mouth. You need to retrain your mind that the body is stimulated. Regular smokers do the hand to mouth thing several times a day..and evolved around periods of their schedule (eating, resting moment, stress moment....etc.). Eventually you-ll have fewer lollipops...try to condition yourself in baby steps. Sugarless lollipops will prevent your teeth from being subjected to cavities.
well, the weather seems nice.
I say this is your problem, and im sure its normal, i dont smoke, so i cant understand the problem myself. But if you-re depressed go out and socialize more with non smoking people, and during the convo try your hardest not to say the things in your head.

Nicotine Withdrawal

When smokers try to cut back or quit, the absence of nicotine leads to withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal is both physical and mental. Physically, the body reacts to the absence of nicotine. Psychologically, the smoker is faced with giving up a habit, which requires a major change in behavior. Both must be addressed in order for the quitting process to work.

Withdrawal symptoms can include any of the following:

dizziness (which may only last 1-2 days in the beginning)
depression
feelings of frustration and anger
irritability
sleep disturbances, including having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep and having bad dreams or even nightmares
trouble concentrating
restlessness
headache
tiredness
increased appetite
These symptoms can lead the smoker to again start smoking cigarettes again to boost blood levels of nicotine back to a level where there are no symptoms.

If a person has smoked regularly for a few weeks or longer and abruptly stops using tobacco or greatly reduces the amount smoked, withdrawal symptoms will occur. Symptoms usually start within a few hours of the last cigarette and peak about 2 to 3 days later. Withdrawal symptoms can last for a few days to several weeks.
i quit once youll forget about it about a week after quitting but the patch to me is like your still doing it good luck hang in there
First of all good for you for quiting! I quit about 2 years ago it-s not easy i think after a couple of weeks you will be feeling better,as with any other addiction when you stop your going to feel very emotional and in my case very cranky! For me after about 2 or 3 weeks i was better but that-s when i started eating a lot too so watch out for that one i ended up gaining quit a bit of weight but if you keep up exercise you will be ok...it-s hard work for a while but it-s all worth it in the end trust me and keep up the good work!
Hi there !
its normal...
take more fluids like juices at this tme of withdrawal time..okay ?
but...dont make it as a reason and start it again..ok ?
take more fluids, control your talking at this time, and you will be alright in 3-7 days.
best wishes..
This is proof that your life has become unmanageable because of cig-s. This will only last temporarily. Just accept that this is how you feel right now. You are going to be ok. Really you are.

You-re emotional because you are detoxifying your body, it-s so used to having a constant input of the chemicals that are in cig-s that it-s freaking out. I detoxed about a week.

Take the patch off....that thing will keep you hooked, it-s a freaking ploy by the manufacturers of the patches to keep you spending money. You-ll be hooked on the patches....don-t replace one thing with another. How did people quit before the patch?? They decided that they were done. Don-t look for a justification or rationalization to start again.

If you really want to quit, quit for the moment. Cravings only last a few minutes. just keep telling yourself that you don-t want to smoke at this time. You don-t have to smoke right now. Don-t think of it as forever, that will freak out your mind. All the emotional turmoil will end soon, and soon you-ll wonder why you ever smoked before.

Enjoy each moment, don-t make a problem out of life, find the solution to your problem and work in the solution. Enjoy life.

Peace.
That happened to me once. I was 15 and been smoking for 2 years, and inhaling, and quit for a week and I couldn-t stop uncontrollable laughter at things that were funny but not hysterical. You see there are these cells in your brain that crave nicotine and when they don-t get a spike of nicotine, key word spike, not a gradual, steady flow, those cells or neurons or whatever get nasty in your brain, causing a loss of emotional control. Switch to the gum unless you have to eat, then use the patch, but never use both at the same time. Good luck!!!!
Well your symptoms are absolutely normal. When I quit smoking I was 42 and in full form physically and mentally. Then out of too much exercise to help me quitting I had a slipped disc and I suffered a lot for months. Then I started to notice a slowness in my brains and a lack of concentration and loss of memorization faculties. It was appallingly hard to continue but I did. Then I gained almost 40 Lbs which was not a luxury or a prob because I was too skinny. Now 20years later I feel great, I do not look my age and I am in quite good condition. So the choice is yours : suffer temporary and very unpleasant side effects or be a wreck at 60.
so you are facing life without your normal refuse.
life is full of feelings. you are no longer numbing.
you will get used to it. addictions distance us from
our feelings. that-s one of the benefits.
but your life is fuller now. you can feel that you are a mess.
welcome to humanity.
one day at a time. good luck.
I quit almost three years age. So stick with it, it gets better. I found that everything I liked when I was smoking smelled horrible when I quit. I was a witch to everyone for about a month. I found that I was more emotional because every time something went wrong before I would smoke, and now you don-t have that crutch to lean on. I would smoke to suppress my feelings and wouldn-t say what was on my mind. I find now, I think about what I-m going to say in a tactful way , and let people know how I feel and what I think. You are going through a tough time and the first week is the worst. Take it on day at a time and remember why you are quitting smoking. keep exercising and watch that you don-t snack to replace the motion of smoking. Good luck, and keep up the good work . If someone is being a ***, let them know without being a witch back.
First of all, congratulations! Quitting is the best thing for you.

I quit in May when my daughter was born. I quit cold turkey (not the way to go). I was also very emotional. I wasn-t ever sad, but I was angry, alot. It was very easy to make me mad. I snapped at co-workers and at my wife alot.

I found that two big things made it easier:

1. Time. Each week I was a little less ticked off than the week before. Soon, I forgot all about being mad.

2. Each day when I got home from work I-d kiss my wife and she-d tell me how proud she was that I didn-t have a cigarette that day. Just that day. She never said, -I-m proud of you for going two weeks - or two months - without a cigarette-. She simply told me, -I-m proud of you for not having a cigarette today-.

The emotion will subside as you work the habit and the addiction out of your system. Good luck, and again, CONGRATULATIONS!
You are doing the right things. Maybe you can find a helpline that can answer your questions or google search smoking. I get like this when I haven-t had a coffee.

I want to quit smoking starting tomorrow by going cold turkey. But i still have 5 cigarettes in my pack.? -

should i smoke all of it tonight and start tomorrow as a brand new day as a non-smoker?
hi ace your choice...

actually it probably doesn-t matter, when you smoke them, or even if.. as long as you decide when they are gone they are gone.. and yes cold turkey works for some people.. just don-t quit quitting ,if you have to use another method..good luck..

you might want to check out a support group for help with both the detoxing and learning to live smoke free..

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.
Some people can go cold turkey; some can-t. Good luck for trying, but remember statistics say the average person quits more than once - reverts back. It-s a habit, difficult to break - if you think you can do it, throw them out.
In a way, smoking is like perpetual dieting. Some dieters desparately trying to find something that works eat everyting in site the day before starting yet another diet. This is like crash dieting - has a yo yo effect.
Smoking is more than a bad habit, like overeating. It is a physical addiction which grows worse the more you smoke. It comes from the additives you can-t pronounce on the box, not the tobacco itself. Manufacturers want you to get hooked of course.

The most recent studies indicate a higher percentage of success by taking an aid like Chantix - gradually reducing your cigarette consumption. It keeps the nicotine from reaching your brain, thereby cutting down your consumption and -cleaning- the receptors. I know 2 close friends, very heavy smokers who quit this way, plus myself. I-d tried cold turkey only to have the cravings return in anywhere from a month to 2 yrs later.

Whichever way you go the important thing is that it-s YOU who-s decided to quit. Not pressure from everyone else, or indication that you-re somehow -weak- Don-t listen to this! They probably never even smoked, much less researched the topic. It isn-t as easy as just -trash the pack- esp. if you fail the first time - have to go buy more. You may try giving these 5 to a friend and ask them to put them away for if/when you absolutely lose it one day. Sometimes when you-re quitting even a puff will get you to the next day. Gradually they will stop tasting good - you-ll be smoke free.

Be easy on yourself; read as much as you can. There are great support sites where people understand the issue - don-t call you a -whimp- for being unable to go cold turkey. Cudos for getting to this point! Wanting it is a major key to success, don-t ever beat yourself up if you fail- no matter how many times it takes. My dad had a motto: -If at first you don-t succeed try try again-

Another hint: Smoking has to be causing a problem for YOU. When it does interfere with your life, your sleep, your nerves, your cash on hand or your health it will be a much stronger motivator than any commercial or peer pressure.

~Good Luck~ hope I-ve helped.
~All the best~
Flush -em.
And you can do it! My sister recently quit, use the money you save to treat yourself and you will be smoke free in no time. x
Three steps you should do now!
1.Throw them all into washroom.
2. Flush.
3. Done!
Step by step directions.

1. flush them
2. All Done!
Don-t be a sissy. Mash them up and throw them in the river.

How do i quit smoking? -

i really want to quit, but so far nothing has helped.
Are you sure that you really want to quit?

What have you tried that hasn-t helped?

It-s a tough addiction - realizing you-re addicted and that it is damn difficult to quit is the first step. Are you there yet?

It usually takes several serious efforts and then several extended relapses before you quit for good - if you quit for good.

If you can-t quit via the usual means (cold turkey, NRT, Zyban) try the new Pfizer drug, Chantix. But make sure you really want to quit - otherwise you are wasting your time.

http://www.chantix.com

I smoked for more than 25 years, and I have been smokefree now, finally, for about 2-1/2+ years.
support classes and the patch and YOU realy have to want to,go to one of the quit smoking groups they really help
well i know someone who smoked and she stoped and she thrught them away and stped and we told her to
My father did cold turkey when he went into the hospital to have his appendix removed, but I don-t think you want to do that.

Find a support group, since going solo doesn-t seem to help. Keep a pack of gum to stick in your mouth instead of cigarrettes. If you know what triggers the urge to smoke, either avoid the situation that causes the said urge or grow a different habit.

Good luck!
I smoked for 5 years, so I can just imagine what you are going through. Best advice, pay attention to what causes you to smoke in the first place (what triggers it) and replace it with something else. I took deep breaths for 1 minute, even though you might look funny.. who cares? Its for your own good.

Good Luck :)
My mother was a heavy smoker. She went cold turkey. It is hard for the first couple hours, and then even harder for some time, but hard physical activity kept her mind off. It just takes sheer will.
I can-t remember who said it, but one of my favorite quotes is about smoking. -Quitting-s easy - I-ve done it a thousand times-.

Quitting permenantly is another story. I am a smoker. I don-t want to quit, but wish I wanted to quit. This is what I am doing in the mean time...
I don-t have the ultimate desire to quit, but want to be healthier so I-ve done a few things to help a bit.

1. I excercise more. Some studies say that those who smoke and excercise regularly are healthier than those who don-t smoke or excercise at all.
2. I take breaks from smoking. I know smoking is effecting my health when I become really tired for 3 or more days for no reason, my sinuses/allergies are acting up more than usual or I have a lot of trouble sleeping. I then take about three days off from smoking and feel better.
3. I drink a lot of water. This curves appetite as well as cigarrette cravings.
4. Keep busy as much as possible. When the mind is off of cigarrettes, the desire is gone. I don-t know about you, but the no smoking adds on television and on billboards everywhere are the worst things for me. They just remind me of the fact that I smoke and trigger the need.

Not sure if this is anywhere near Dr. recommended, but it may help a bit until you are completely ready and determined to quit - if that-s where you are at this time.
punch yourself in the face with a kidney but seriously just take it gradually those d@mn patches didn-t work for me iono about you though but try to stay off one cig per day for about a week then next week stay off another cig per day ok FOOL?

(stay off 1 cig off from your usual amount of cigs per day)

I stopped smoking about 5 months ago after smoking for over 20 years, here are just some of the advantages:
I don-t smell bad anymore
Neither does my home or car
My skin looks about 10 years younger
My teeth are whiter
My eyes are brighter
I don-t cough in the mornings now
I have loads more energy
I can breathe much more easily
I am much better off financially
I feel so much better knowing that I am not slowly killing myself
Honestly, it-s the best thing I ever did - ask around I doubt you will find one ex-smoker who ever says -I really regret stopping smoking-.
I am 39 and I started smoking when I was 13,and I just quite smoking almost 2 weeks ago I feel great....

Without using the patch, gum, or Chantix.

It-s more of a how to stay focused, and not -give in- (willpower) type of question. I have quit many times inthe past, longest was for 4 years, but I-m smoking more packs of ciggs today than I ever was in the past.

Any tricks and/or advice would be appreciated.
divert your addiction to other things. video games, relationships, paties, food.... anything other than drugs. the replacement might not be healthy either, but it will at less be less detrimental.
Just keep looking ahead, and decide where you want to be in 1, 2, 6 or 12 months down the track and aim to do it without cigarettes.
what worked for me was putting the money i would usually spend on smokes into an account or piggy bank and at the end of the month, if you have not had a smoke, reward yourself with something you really want using the money you would usually have spent on your ciggies, you will start to enjoy your rewards more and realize how much money you are putting into the pockets of the evil corporations that produce cigarettes
I would recommend EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). It-s an emotional, needle-free version of acupuncture and it works wonders!

Help, I quit smoking, but now I cant stop eating!? -

My pants are getting tight. I quit smoking for my health, but at the rate I-m going I-ll have a coronary long before I ever would have died from lung cancer.
find a new hobby that will take ur mind off of smoking and eating
try to eat right.. it-s ok to eat as long as its healthy.. also, try to have self-control.. if the urge to eat sets in, try to distract yourself by doing other things..
If you have to eat, eat baby carrots.
Or Orville Redenbachers 100 calorie mini bags of popcorn. And have a diet pop.
Whatever you do, don-t go back to smoking. If you do, you-ll be a fat, overweight smoker (you-ll have 2 problems).
it-s normal, because food tastes better now, a few extra pounds is better than smoking. start excising to work it off
You may try chewing gum, or eating some low-calorie snacks. Drinking alot of water is good, too. It keeps you full. Sometimes thirst masks itself as hunger. You can talk to a registered dietician who can help you know what to eat. Good luck!
At first when you stop smoking, if you learn to find a variety of things to do when the urge comes, you can keep from becoming addicted to food or another THING. If you exercise even for five minutes when the urge comes, the endorphines that the exercise release can help with the cravings to smoke. If you have to eat for now, eat celery, it will satisfy the need to have something in your mouth, the oral fix, common problem wtih ex-smokers. It also has only about 35 calories as stalk, so you won-t gain a pound eating it all day long. Also, after about two weeks of it, as the smoking cravings go down, you-ll also be so sick of the taste of celery that you won-t want to keep eating it.

I don-t know how true this next one is, but some people have said that if they eat a very small HOT cinnamon candy, that it really helps. Now if you eat the whole bag, it may help the smoking but not the waistline.

Each day it will get easier, just keep active and when you have to eat, find very low calorie foods, if not eating your meal.

GOOD LUCK and DO NOT GIVE UP!
Try chewing gum. It helped me when I quit smoking.
Help, I quit smoking, but now I cant stop eating!? -

What is the best thing to use if you are trying to quit smoking? -

What is the best thing to use if you are trying to quit smoking? -

1. Walk 30 min/day, every day, for 2 weeks before actually quitting. This builds your discipline and your willpower.

2. Start the patch (it-s preferable over the lozenge/gum because it doesn-t feed your oral fixation).

3. Pay close attention to changes in your eating habits. Log everything you eat for the 2 weeks before you quit, and continue after you quit - make sure there is not an increase in your caloric intake.

4. Get your teeth professionally cleaned. Quitting smoking restores circulation to your gums and can cause excessive bleeding and gum disease if you don-t get your teeth cleaned after you quit (plus, your whites will be the pearliest ever!)

5. Stay away from situations that will encourage you to smoke. When your buddies go out back at work to smoke, find another activity that will not tempt you. When your buddies go to the bar, stay at home and read or take a walk or call a loved one. At least for the first few weeks.

Good luck!
Water to hasten the cleansing of your system. Exercise to remove the build up of junk on the lining of your lungs. Will power to fight the withdrawal and the cravings.
Light Cigarettes
I quit smoking a little more than two years ago. I used the gum for about six weeks.
Its been since September 06 that i-ve quite :-)

First of all, i-m sure you-ve heard this a thousand times but its true...you really really really really have to willing to quit before you do anything!

Then, I went to see my general family Dr. He advised me to try the patch (worked really well for me not necessarily for everyone apparently...but it helps)Nicorette Steps 1,2-3. Then, he also prescribed me these stress pills (not anti-depresants) just harmless stress pills for those really tough moments when i would break out into a rage! Yep....-rage-...you have to face the fact that its going to be tough in the begining (first few weeks) then its gets less painful/stressful....and you have to realize that you-ll still be thinking about smoking even months, a year after you quit....and just one tiny little puff, one little drag and you-re back for good buddy.

Eat a lot of greens (salad, cucumber,Zuchini...etc) drink a lot of water/liquids....and if you-re afraid of gaining weight...think of it this way: when you eat (especialy a good greasy/fatty meal) the first thing you crave is a smoke....well, logically, if you don-t eat a lot (to compensate) stay away from greasy food/junk food for a while....drink less coffee..etc..you won-t have that craving ;-) chew gum (but not obsessively, it could give you lock-jaw!?! Happened to me...)...

And i hate to say it but a lot of walking or even riding a bike everyday (or excerise bike) really helps....trust me. Remember, you have to accept that its hell (i broke out into a tantrum and tears one day)...but once you get through it...MAN OH MAN!!! you-ll start seeing the differences bit by bit; your skin (and tone), your breathing, your mood, your sleeping, your taste buds...everything just changes...gets healthier...its great!!!

Hang in there buddy...best of luck
Nicotine Patches and Nicotine gum. Good luck getting rid of that nasty habit.

keep yourself busy, every time you want a smoke take ten deep breaths, walk everyday to keep busy.keep your mind active, read anything, the urge only last for 30 seconds, all you have to do is fill in 30 seconds every time you want a fag.think how much money you will save over a years, spend it wisely, and always remember smoking does KILL
acupuncture, it worked for about 2 weeks, it wasn-t the right time, i-m going back
Will power...and start training a sport you like...youll see how it quickly gets you over it all in no time.
Gum or keep hard candy in your mouth. Also keep your hands busy so you don-t reach for the cig that you don-t need.
Take up a new sport that you can really get hooked on. You will then realised how unhealthy it is to be smoking.

My husband did was he finished up straight one full pack the night before he wants to quit. Smoke till his tongue was tasteless. Then he stop totally the next day.
A book called -how to quit smoking-, it-s worked for loads of people, where nothing else has. Don-t know the author.
Stop smoking. Flush your stock of cigarettes, do not buy any more, stay away from the cigarettes when going shopping, avoid people that smoke. After a day your urge will weaken. If you continue this behavior for a month your urge will be almost completely gone. After about three months you will probably be ready to see the cigarettes and see people smoking. However, I advice that if you have friends that smoke that you should avoid them because you will feel a natural affinity to do what they do. I would wait to hang with them while they are smoking for at least a year. If you make it a year without smoking you are ready to be in the company with active smokers. After a year it has been my experience that only great stress or depression could bring you back to smoking.

I Need SOme Advice Iwant to quit smoking but i cant i have tried those patchers ? -

But they leave rashers on my arm ive tried going cold turkey but i have anger problems after about 4 days i really want to quit but it just seems like its beating me i need help PLEASE
Chantix... works well for me! I-ve only been on it for a week and already feel so much better! Very few cravings, and didn-t have the moodiness usually associated with quitting smoking. 12-week program.

Stick with it! If you really want to quit, you-ll be able to!
Good luck.
I know how you feel... I am in your shoes at this time also. I have tried the patches and the gum. I have quit twice already. I told my doctor he said, -keep trying-. Going through the withdrawals made me feel so on edge. I couldn-t concentrate on anything. I was irritable, and had insomnia. I think this time ( because I truly want to quit) I am going to cut down slowly on the amount of nicotine. Each day I am going to lay out the amount of cigarettes that I am going to have and put the rest up high in a closet. ( So it will be a lot of effort to retrieve them.) And slowly decrease the amount. Wish me luck. And good luck to you also.
The only successful way is coild turkey. However, going from twenty or forty a day to none is nuts, I can see why you would be edgy.
Cut your intake by half for two weeks, then half again. when you are down to five a day QUIT
The impact of leaving five is a lot less than leaving forty.
Good luck.
Remember to remind your self why you are happy about your success. I-m happy to only have five today tomorrow I-ll have four but I-m going to see my grandchildren get married!
i know it sounds dumb but cold turkey is the way to go. You still need help though so u get a freind to help. Get them to when ever ur getting a craving get u occupied like play an game or go do something the more active u are the better. ur probally used to something all ways in ur hand to so try flavored toothpics or hard candy. some times candy works some times it doesent. just remember no to give up its hard.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
try champix or chantix
it is supposed to reduce you-re cravings for ciggarettes
but it is more expensive than patches
doctors usually give those to people who really have the will to stop
try Chantix. You have to get them at your drs office. I-ve heard wonderful sucess story from people who have stopped smoking thanks to these pills.
chew some gum

How do I Quit smoking, when its this difficult? -

I have been wearing the patch for three days, today I stopped wearing it because it didn-t seem to make a difference. My whole body aches, I feel dizzy, and when I wear the patch I-m constantly tired and have wierd dreams. Everyone keeps acting like its not that serious. Has anyone had as difficult of a time as me, how do I make the pain lessen and quit? Please don-t act like its not hard, it is for me.
hi jdude..

your absolutly right quitting smoking is seldom easy.. in fact tobacco is among the most addictive substances known.. i have found that for me it took several attempts before i was able to quit.. so give yourself a break, there are people who have -been there and dont that..

the good news is that its doable, however you choose to do it.. i smoked for over 40, and have been nicotine free for over 5 years now..after a number of failed quits i tried joining a support group.. i attend nicotine anonymous meetings both locally, and online.. meetings are as close as your computer..good luck with your quit, as there is really no wrong way to do it..

Regardless of why you may be feeling down or depressed while you’re trying to quit smoking, it’s important to be aware of your feelings and pay attention to them. This is where a smoking clinic or rehabilitation center might come in handy. For some, they need the support of others who are either going through the same things as they are or who have already been there.
smoking is the hardest thing to stop for some people. my husband is now on his 4th time quiting, if you have a health plan, talk to your doctor, they have classes to help with this. don-t stop the patch it releases nicotine that will help w/the intense cravings but i know it doesn-t seem to work but it does. there is a drug called bupropion that you can take along w/the patch that helps also. you are fighting an addiction and it takes time and a lot of inner strength to deal with it. find out what make you want to smoke (w/my husband it was stress) is it stress, boredom, peer pressure?
go to smoke free.gov and it may help. just be strong and if you slip up and smoke don-t let it defeat you just keep trying. it also helps to find a friend or love one to be your support person to help you. someone who can talk you out of taking that puff. it gets better with time. take one day at a time.
good luck - don-t give up!
I would recommend you try swedish snus.

It-s like snuf..but without the health hazards, no smoke, no tar, no bad juice (you can actually swallow it)...PLUS

It gives you nicotine. Different varieties have different amounts of nicotine so if you need to up the dose you can.

This way you :

Quit smoking..so no tar, smell, etc..

but you can gently quit the nicotine need.
I think they have nicotine gum for it, but you can use regular gum. It won-t help the temptation but it-ll keep you form automatically reaching for a cigarette.
Perhaps you can find some useful information in
http://www.quitnow.info.au
.
there-s lots of differant methods, perhaps the patch jsut isnt the best for you, maybe a bad reaction? maybe your going though withdrawl..
try differant methods of quitting.
try suit smoking patches ...you can get it from your doctor in some states its free...

Is quitting smoking right away cold turkey bad for you? -

I-ve been smoking for awhile now and recently quit cold turkey because I found out I was pregnant, I wrote another question and I recieved a response stating that it could be harmful to just stop. I was just wondering if maybe this was true or not. Thank you everyone in advance for you answers.
My grandma stopped cold turkey and she-s been smoke-free for about 11 years now. She-s still in fairly good health with no serious problems so I-d say it-s not bad for you. I applaud you for being so strong and wanting to quit. You-re an inspiration to many people I-m sure. You-re baby will be thankful you stopped too!
cold turkey is probably the least harmful way to quit.. well done..never smoke again.. going cold turkey gives you withdrawals for about 5 days. nicotine is a fast acting drug..like heroin so the withdrawals are very quick as well.. after that its the habit thats hard to break but after 9 months off it you should be well over the habit..never buy another on,,, never let a friend give you another one
not true. if you can handle it, just stop. it-s not dangerous to go cold turkey at all. that person has no idea what they-re talking about.
congrats on quitting and on the baby
Last time I checked, smoking was bad for you, not quiting. Pretty sure you will not end up with quitters cancer.

Once you quit smoking, how long is your body missing the nicotine? -

Well, they say it takes three days. Whoever picked this out of the air was obviously not a smoker though. Scientifically it is probably a short time, but the habit is hard to kick.
I gave up a year ago, but still think about it every day. I had to stop because I couldn-t breathe. Just quit, and hang on to the reasons why you are doing it.
Good luck
Maybe a year and a half, though the worst effects are over much sooner and you-ll never *entirely* stop missing it, because it-s a pleasurable drug. The precise time depends on you -- your genes, how much you smoked, etc. But figure a few months before it becomes tolerable. It gets steadily easier as time passes.

Any good tips to help quit smoking? -

stop cold turkey.
what i did was buy the nicotine-free cigarettes (quest) as my last pack. they taste terrrible which helped me break my desire. i also used some nicotine gum before that to help cut back before quiting completely.
overall, you have to WANT to quit. if you don-t nothing will stick. keep reminding yourself about the money you will have once you quit. my uncle was in the hospital for heart issues, and as soon as he was out of the hospital and in his truck he lit a cigarette. he saw himself in his mirror, looked around his truck (which smelled terrible from stale smoke), threw his cigarettes out the window and drove the truck dealership and bought a new truck. for him, the idea of getting a new truck was a motivator (which is funny - you would think the horrible heart issues would have done it).

what also helped me was an indoor smoking ban and freezing weather. :)
There is a new drug out called Chantix. It-s supposed to have a really high rating on people quitting.
Think of dying of lung cancer again and again and again. That should help.
Just STOP and have no more!!! They have patches etc to help if you need.
Ask your doctor about a pill. I hear the pills work really fast.
quit buying them, think about how much money you will save to buy other things you want or need to pay for.
Contact the Quitline and join a Quit Smoking Clinic.

Has anyone tried the Medication to help you quit smoking...? -

Chantix is the medication I am refering to,have you used it or do you know anything about it? Is it a anti-depressant?Does it work? Is there any adverse effects?
I-m on it. It isn-t an antidepressant at all. In fact, if you do have depression (or any other mental condition), it exacerbates it. The way it works can be kind of hard to explain. Basically what-s going on when you smoke is, nicotine is binding to nicotine receptors in your brain (the more nicotine you take in, the more receptors you grow for it), the binding then stimulates dopamine, which tells you that it-s enjoyable. So, when you take Chantix, the active chemical in it Varenicline blocks the ability of nicotine to bind to the receptors, and at the same time it binds to the receptors and stimulates some activity. It kind of tricks your brain into thinking it-s getting the nicotine, but since it isn-t the receptors for the nicotine eventually decrease (when the receptors for it are gone, your body no longer wants it.). Since the dopamine isn-t being stimulated like it was is the reason it can exacerbate any mental conditions. The results from that can range from aggitation to becoming very irritable and suicide to psychosis, but it-s not common. If you don-t have any mental conditions (depression, bipolar, schizophrenic, ect.) you should be just fine. I actually have anxiety and I-m doing great on it, so you just have to know your body and mind. The only side effects I have experienced so far is some dizziness and nausea in the first week, but it was minor and bearable. It works really well, even in the first week I went from over a pack a day to 2 cigarettes EASILY. By week 2, I wasn-t even enjoying those. I was bothered by my own smoke! I didn-t think about smoking during the day, I just kind of forgot about it. I mentally craved one with my coffee in the morning, but since I knew I didn-t enjoy them anymore and they bothered me, I had to tell myself no. It was actually pretty easy, SO unlike before! Now, when my boyfriend comes inside after smoking, I find the smell absolutely disgusting. I want nothing to do with it. I have tried everything in the past to quit (including the useless hypnosis sessions) and nothing could work for even a day. This medication is the only thing that has worked, and it did it without the torture! Chantix has a VERY good success rate (the other poster is dead wrong) and is HIGHY effective. I can-t say enough good about it. I-m happy, and thrilled to finally be smoke free. I highly recommend Chantix to anyone without depression who wants to quit for good! You should atleast try it. Just watch yourself, you-ll know if you begin to feel the mental side effects (it usually begins as depression, aggitation, irritability), then stop taking it. It-s not for everyone, but it-s worth a shot! If you ever have any questions about it at all, feel free to email me.
lol no. why would i spend money to make stop smoking, which is costing me money as well. the idea is to save. this is my last pac i swear.

Take them to a local funeral home and do a pre need and let them look over the casket selection.
Tell em this -Smokedy smokedy smokedy smoke do you want to end up as a smoke?
Make it a group effort and that way everyone will feel the support. if nobody smokes from the group it will lessen the desire to smoke. also when I was quitting I would walk around with a bottle of water with lime juice in it and when I felt like smoking I would drink water.
cough all the time.
Eat a lot of beans and gas the place out. When they grow tired of the smell, tell them you feel the same way about the smoke smell! After all both are just different forms of gas!
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
I would put up pictures of diseased lungs on the refrigerator and sign them up for smoking cessation literature to be mailed to them.
They have to be ready to quit and you must realize that this is an addiction worse than even heroin. I am a smoker and I have tried quitting a few times. Remember,if quitting were even close to being easy, hardly anyone would be smoking.Just speak with them about your concerns and be supportive if they try and quit.

P.S. I watched my grandmother die of lung cancer and as hard as I tried, this still didn-t break my addiction.
well if you have your own house/apartment you could say to them that if they smoked they couldnt come to your house. Also you should tell them that if they keep smoking they could end up with a tube in their throat so they can eat (this is true). Then you could tell them to call/ tell you before they buy any cigarettes or something. Good luck!!

I am starting chantix today to quit smoking , Does it work ? Will i be grumpy ? tell me your story. What can i exspect ..
I have had a couple of friends who have done it and been very successful. I have not noticed any mood changes in them and they seem to actually be a lot happier. I mean it is the best stuff there is. I even got a coupon to give to my mother who has been smoking for over 50 years and she always has some excuse to not quit. Anyway, I wish you the best in the world. email me and let me know how you do. Do you. God Bless.
I ever used chantix
but i failed
You can try

that program works
Yes. I have used Chantix and it does work. You will still feel some withdrawals but nothing like what you would go thru cold turkey. I have a yahoo website/group for people quitting with extensive attached files, news, links etc. that will answer any question you might have on this subject. Please check us out and good luck.

you sound pretty grumpy already
If you want to know about Chantix side effects:

The most frequently reported adverse events (-10 percent) with CHANTIX were nausea, headache, insomnia, and abnormal dreams.

I haven-t tried chantix. I used a herbal remedy to quit smoking. When you are quitting smoking you have to be careful about 2 things.

a) Withdrawal symptoms that include mood change, depression, anger, headache.

b) Nicotine craving.

If a remedy covers these 2 aspects then in combination with your will power you are on the course to a smoke free life.

Chantix is a great way to quit smoking with few side effects. For more Chantix information, click the following link:

we be together and quit, Do i belive him? we call and chat almost everyday and i do trust him so is he , we are very honest with each other, yesterday i told him i want you to be in a good health and at least i didnt say me or smoking he said please don-t, i really love him so is he .

I just need him to quit i hate smoking and its not healthy at all plus he has heart problems i fear ending up with serious big problems! I love him and i do care about him alot so shall i wait till we be together in 2 years or gent;y tell him to keep trying now??help?
TERA answered the question beautifully.
In addition, you must remember that 80% of smokers want to quit. Almost all of them say they will quit sometime in the future. If they are going to quit in the future, why don-t they quit now? Do they think it will be easier in the future, when they-ve had a few more months or years of addiction? No, they surely know that it will be harder. They just don-t want to address it now, and having a nebulous plan to quit sometime in the future allows them to avoid confronting it now.
You are probably not going to logically reason your b/f out of smoking. He didn-t start smoking for logical reasons. He didn-t start smoking in anticipation of a lifetime of addiction and efforts to quit.
Nagging won-t help, threatening won-t help. You have to be his parner in the quitting process. Recognize also that he will probably quit about six times before it finally sticks. And the urge to smoke will never go away. I personally know three people who quit smoking in their twenties and started again 25 years later.
Smoking is probably the hardest addiction to overcome. Many alcoholics and drug addicts are able to quit these habits and still can-t give up cigarettes. They are powerfully addictive, physically and psychologically. It-s great that you care so much about his health. Just realize that it-s going to be very, very hard for him to quit. The damage that smoking causes is usually very slow...takes years to progress...so it-s easy for a smoker to live in denial about the serious risks to their health. The best thing you can do is to encourage him toward quitting in a loving way. Maybe you can give him literature on the subject, or a book on it...remind him that you love him and you just don-t want his health to suffer. But don-t nag at him...try not to make him feel ashamed that he has this addiction. It-s not about a lack of will power or a moral issue, he doesn-t have a weak character. Addiction is a disease. You wouldn-t shame a diabetic for having diabetes. And you can-t force him to quit. All you can do is be encouraging (in a positive way). Good luck!

What is the quickest and easiest way to quit smoking cigarettes out of all of the choices that are available? -

I have a 46 year old brother that needs to quit now due to serious health issues. At birth he was born with a condition called highlands membrane disease and is even listed in the Guinness book of records to be the only person to survive this illness, can anyone tell me from there own experience the method that worked for them to kick this habit please.
Well cancer will sure do it..... and that-s not as much of a joke as it sounds like. My boss used nicotine patches and hypnosis to slowly wean himself from a pack a day habit. I think everyone is different, and the person has to want to stop, that;s the biggest thing.
Although there is not one sure fire way to kick the smoking habit, I can tell you some different things that have helped some of my friends and family members, and you will have to do some research and figure out what the best option for you would be. I have some friends that have just stopped cold turkey regardless of the side affects. Others have used the Nicotine Patch, and Nicotine inhalers, while others have used electronic cigarettes to stop. I heard electronic cigarettes are not considered a stop smoking device, but it seems to work for some. You can go to http://buye-cigarettes.com where they have all of the electronic cigarette companies list so that you can determine which is best for you. Good luck!
Well, your brother won-t be able to quit if he does not completely commit himself to quitting. No matter how much you want him to quit, it will not work unless he-s got the same idea as you do. If he decides to quit, then you can offer him support and practical tips to quit smoking. Learning together about smoking and nicotine addiction and what possible ways can help in the battle against his addiction. If he ever goes into relapse, encourage him more and never act as if you are disappointed with him because this will only trigger his cravings.
I did it 3 weeks ago with nicorette after smoking for 13 years. The first day I layed in bed for 1 1/2 hours not to light that first cigarette of the day, after coughing blood up the day before. I realized that If I do not quit I Will die of something smoking related. I went to the pharmacy to buy nicorette to help with the headaches, and the lady there told me -you can-t quit in just one day you know.- Watch me i thought. I realized that smoking is the most selfish thing I can do. Even though it is not easy, because I really enjoy it, I want to be around for my kids. Try looking at the stories on whyquit.com. They list even famous people there who died soo young. It will happen if we don-t stop.
Electronic Cigarettes. It-s not really a way of quitting (because it still contains nicotine), but it-s a way of getting rid of the health risks.

There are no nasty chemicals, only the nicotine, so there addiction is still satisfied. Because the chemicals are gone, there-s no second hand smoke - just water vapour - which is a plus. Who wants that smell all over all their stuff?

And it costs a whole lot less than regular cigarettes in the long run - can save him up to 75% of what he currently spends.

Check it out:
http://greensmoke.com/4045.html

Now I-m off to figure out what the heck highlands membrane disease is... you-ve got me curious.
Chantix....its been 2 yrs for me. It took me that week to be done. but you must finish out the 90 day treatment. it really works after 20 yrs of smoking. My sister in law quit with Chantix and she is in her late 50s and she smoked 2 packs a day. it didnt take her long at all and she said she feels better. As far as cost....my insurance paid for it. it only costed me 10.00 for my prescription. goodluck an di hope he tries everything.
he needs will power ,i know it sounds stupid but ,he can try chantix and keep away from the store till the cravings go away

Whats the best way to quit smoking and stay quit? -

I used the commit lozenges. I have been off smoking for 2 months now and they really help especially in the first 3-4 weeks of quitting. You truly have to want to quit though. There isn-t any magic medicine that will make you quit. You have to tell yourself in your mind that you are now a non-smoker and smoking a ciggarette is not an option. Take it day by day. Each day without a cigarette gets you one step closer to beating the addiction!! I smoked about 15 cigarettes and day and quit on an impulse. No planning, no anything. I just quit. You can do it! Good Luck!
A few years ago, I read about a guy in one of the advice columns (Ann Landers, I think) who wanted to quit smoking. He bought a bunch of candy canes, and every time he had the urge for a cigarette, he-d suck on one of those candy canes. Mint is good because it helps calm you down. Holding the candy cane gave his hands something to do, and the sucking motion (I guess) mimics inhaling from a cancer stick. He said in three weeks he had lost his desire for cigarettes.

But, really, the best thing is never to start.
For me, it was using the new prescription drug called Chantix to quit. You may have seen commercials for it on TV. That made it a LOT easier to quit than other methods. Once you-re off that drug the urge to smoke does return, but by that time you-ve gone three months without smoking, and the urge to smoke again is lessened by yourself thinking, -Hey, I-ve already made it for three months, I-m not going to start up again now-. Below is a link for Chantix where you can read about it.
I know a lot of people who quit and generally the best way is to just quit cold turkey.
In a communist country you have a point. This is the U.S.A. you can like it,love it or get the heck out......We can talk,drink,smoke....Read and weap///..4,,.,/2/1/1/
i smoke marijuana almost daily. cigs almost everytime i smoke. the one thing thats helping me is working out. i actually kinda like lifting now. also my chest would kill everytime i worked out, so i realized how its not good. of course nicotine patches and ****, but thats not that helpful if ur hardcore. try switching to all natural pouch tobacco and roll ur own cigs. this helps rid of the chemicals and **** in produtcion cigs. just set limits on urself and all should turn out fine. DONT EAT wen u craving. dont wanna see a skinny chick go fat
I have a friend who used to smoke 2 packs a day and quit almost right away when he was prescribed Chantix. I-ve also known people who had success with the patch. It really depends on how committed you are to quitting. If you REALLY want to quit and think you need some assistance, call the tobacco quit line or try Chantix.
Each time you wanna smoke a cigarette, chew a gum instead of that...
The only way that worked for me was to get pregnant. Then I couldn-t do that to my baby. I just set them down and suffered for a day or two and never touched them again.
never start!!!!!!
I am having the same problem... I don-t know how to quit. Next week I am going to try that new perscription everyone has been buzzing about. A friend of mine is on it and is having stellar results... and she-s losing weight.

And don-t forget when you do quit don-t replace smoking with food... that is the only reason you gain weight.
