When you quit smoking do you still have the chest pain? -

I quit smoking about 2 months ago due to the chest pain and for some other reasons (dental). By the way I stopped smoking using the cold turkey method than by using any other techniques, however still have the chest pain when I take a deep deep breath, though it-s not really bad but I was hoping that it would go away after few weeks or a month. My other question is that I can-t sleep 8 hours straight every night, -sleep about 4 - 5 hours- is it because of the nicotine? Thanks in advance....
Insomnia and disturbed sleep shouldn-t last more than 2 weeks beyond the date of your last cigarette; perhaps you miss the settling-down ritual of the Last Cigarette of the Day. I know a lot of smokers, like myself, hit the caffeine hard as well - if you fall into that category, try to wean yourself off.

The chest pain is also unusual this long after quitting - smokers are more prone to deep chest infections, though, which can be cleared up with a course of antibiotics.

I Quit Smoking 3 days ago and I need help? -

I quit 3 days ago and today has been the worst so far. I feel so bitter and angry. I know it will hopefully get better soon and the withdrawals will ease but I am having a hard time with the withdrawals right now. Anything I can do to make them ease up a bit? Quitting smoking is so hard, I wish I never started up again. (I quit for 7 months and relapsed a few months ago)
If you have a place in your area that offers

Ionic Body Cleanses
Ionic Foot Baths

or some deviation of them. What they will do is pull all of the nicotine and tar out of your body. This will make it easier for you to stop.

They cost about $20-$40 a visit and a visit lasts for 30 minutes. Typically, Chiropractic centers or more holistic health centers offer such treatments.
I quit 6 weeks ago, after smoking for 25+ years. I feel ya. What I found helped me out was munching on Altoids when the craving hit hard. That and just breathing - taking deep calming breaths to calm down helped me too.

You can do it. In the words of my father - you have to look at it like ... are you a man or a mouse? Do you really want to let the cigarettes control you? You have the power, you can do it!
Good for you. I smoked for 25 years, so I know how hard it is.

Try to distract yourself from the urges. When you get an urge to smoke, take a couple of deep breaths, go for a quick walk, drink some water, etc.

Do not give in and have -just one-.

Good luck.

Cigarette free since Thanksgiving 2006.
Try that nicoret gum. I quit smoking 18 years ago cold turkey. I chewed alot of gum. That helped. Try that. Good luck.
Have you heard about this book: -Allan Carr-s Easy Way To Stop Smoking-? I read it and quit smoking over two weeks ago. Everytime I had a craving I was able to think my way through it using the ideas from the book. It proved to me that much of the addiction is psychological. I highly recommend it.
Good job man ... I quit smoking as well , i just think about how horrible it is for you and the tax for ciggs are sooo rediculous in nyc .. best thing to do is work out or do somethin to get your mind off that buzz - Gl and dont smoke

Can anyone give me help to quit smoking forever? -

I smoked for 20 years and have stopped for 10 weeks now. I used patches (available from NHS) and prepared myself very well by changing some routines, especially in the morning. I haven-t found it anything like as hard as I thought I would. I also read the Allen Carr Easyway book which is a great help. The book tells you not to use patches but I found the combination worked for me.
If it helps I feel SO much better since I stopped, can really notice the money I-m saving and my skin looks 10 years younger!
Quitting Smoking was one of the hardest things I have ever done, and I had a lot of support. It was also one of the best things I have ever done in my life.

Quit smoking hypnosis programs are one of many choices and have proven to eliminate the conditioned urge to smoke.

Although quitting smoking can be an unsuccessful and painful experience for some, those who utilize self hypnosis have a far greater rate of success because it makes the process easier.

Quitting smoking can be a drag, but you can successfully quit when you know what to expect, are motivated, have social support, and create a personal game plan.

Stopping smoking requires desire, determination, and commitment, but the more you learn about your options and prepare for quitting, the easier it will be.

You can go to the site below to find out what would be the best choice for you. I hope this helps.
Don-t feel bad about not being able to quit through going cold turkey or by cutting down. Cutting down doesn-t work because it gives nicotine the power, not the other way around. The vast majority will fail to quit using these methods.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, hypnosis or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

Good Luck and Good Quitting

when i quit smoking I just went cold turkey. it my opinion its easier that lowering the amount of nicotine by weeks. give it about a month and the worst will be over (headaches, cravings, etc.) also, it helped me to convince myself that I really hate it (the smell, the sore through, short breath, less energy). you might also try replacing your habit with candy that you eat every time or just about every time you feel a craving. hard candy helps. i tried the nicotine gum and i don-t think it worked for me, but don-t rule it out before you try it. if you really wanna quit, you might try everything and everything to kick the bad habit. Good Luck!
I-m a non-smoker, but I have heard the -secret- to quit smoking.
The this is, you have to want to quit. If you don-t want to quit very bad, that makes it harder.
Another way, think -If I smoke, my baby smokes too.- I-m sure you wouldn-t let your baby smoke after it-s born. Same goes with after it-s born, you or someone else smokes and the baby smokes too (2nd hand smoke). Would you want other people smoking around your baby? If not, think of that.
Now, do you want to quit ? Think of another way, stop smoking for awhile and when you want to buy a pack, put the 4 bucks (or the amount you would have spent). At the end of the year, count how much you would have spent on them (that much saved!). You can buy somethingyou couldn-t before!
Remember, you (really) have to want to quit, if you don-t want to, it won-t work.
This family member was having trouble one day, the doc told him for years to quit, but his b.p. was up, he wasn-t feeling right. He finally quit smoking - his (10 cup) coffee a day in one day.
I gave up each time I got pregnant but then started again after except for the last time I just didnt start again that was 10 years ago, it is hard but each day you don-t have one it gets easier, even now thought there are times when I could just light up but knowing I have not smoked for this long stops me because I know if I did start again I might not be able to stop again.

It is very hard but persevere it is well worth in the end not just health wise but financially as well, I don-t know how people can afford it these days with the price of cigarettes.
Try Chantix, its a prescription med and works VERY WELL!! and also try reading the book The Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Allen Carr, there-s no way u wont be able to quit, its a sure thing and u will look forward to quitting and be happy about it!
Try the patch. Also, hypnosis works for a lot of people, but most importantly you-ve got to make up your own mind that you really WANT to quit and commit to it!

Hi there, my aunt smoked for 27 years and only stopped when pregnant. She went to the Uk for a working holiday and saw a hypnotist. He hypnotised her and now she has been smoke free for 4 years. Try it its gotta work. : )

use the nicoderm patch. i-ve been smoke free for 5 years. you have to WANT to quit smoking too, though. Use toothpicks, etc as fake cigarettes.
First, you have to WANT to stop smoking. If you don-t actually want to quit you won-t be able to.
i know this will be hard but my dad just stopped buying them. he hasnt smoked in 3 years. it was hard but you can break a habit in 24 days

I quit smoking how long does it take for cravings to go away? -

It-s been 4 days now I have not smoked one cig.. but, the cravings are still there how long will it take for it to go away and for me not to be tempted to smoke again?
Smokers are often furious with me because they believe I caused them to go back to smoking. Why do they think this? Well, I have this nasty habit of making a really big deal any time a clinic participant takes one puff or maybe just a few cigarettes. The smoker feels I am so persuasive in my arguments that he has no choice but to have a full-fledged relapse. In his opinion, I forced him back to the lifetime dependency which will impair his health and may eventually cost him his life. He is convinced that if I had not made such a major issue out of the incident, he would just have smoked that one time and would never have done it again. How can I sleep each night knowing what I have done?

I sleep quite well, thank you. For, you see, I am not responsible for these people-s relapses to cigarettes. They can take full credit for becoming smokers again. They relapsed because they broke the one major law of nicotine addiction - they took a puff. This is not my law. I am not setting myself up to be judge, jury, and executioner. The law of physiological addiction states that administration of a drug to an addict will cause reestablishment of the dependence on that substance. I didn-t write that law. I don-t execute that law. My job is much simpler than that. All I do is interpret the law. This means, by taking a puff, the smoker either goes back to full-fledged smoking or goes through the withdrawal process associated with quitting. Most don-t opt for the withdrawal.

Every clinic has a number of participants who have quit in the past for one year or longer. In fact, I had one clinic participant who had stopped for a period of 24 years before he relapsed. He never heard that such a law existed, that even after 24 years, the ex-smoker is not totally freed from his imprisonment of addiction. He didn-t understand that the day he tossed his -last- cigarette, he was placed -on probation- for the rest of his life. But ignorance of the law is not excusable - not the way the laws of a physiological nature are written. By the American standards of justice, this seems to be cruel and unusual punishment. But this is the way things are.

Maybe instead of going to a smoking clinic, a recently relapsed person should contact his attorney to plead his case of why he should be able to have an occasional cigarette when he desires. Maybe he can cheat just once, get a sympathetic jury, be judged innocent, and walk out of the courtroom a free and independent person. Surely, in pleading his case before twelve impartial people, he will probably have no problem convincing them that he is innocent of any wrongdoing. And, as he happily walks out of court a free and independent person, he will probably have an uncontrollable urge and then light a cigarette.

Don-t look for loopholes in the law of addiction. You will be convicting yourself back to smoking. While it may seem harsh and unfair, to many, smoking is a crime punishable by death. Don-t try to cheat the system - NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF!
I don-t know personally but I have friends and family that have quit and it just depends on the person. My mom quit and it didn-t take long for hers to go away and shes been smoke free almost 30 years! She can-t stand the smell... then I have friends that have quit for 5+ years and never have been able to get over the cravings.. they just have to really set their mind to now smoking!
Are you using the patch or nicorette gum to help subside the cravings?
My mother quit nearly 10 years ago, and she said that she sometimes has a craving for one. Right now your body is in withdraw, that is why it seems so strong. Using the patch or the gum will help in the next few weeks, until your body is totally rid of the chemical and does not need it anymore. You may think about if from time to time for the rest of your life, but you are doing the right thing! Keep up the good work, and good luck!!
it takes about a month, you will notice the difference right away
They should be lessening by now. Hangin there. It-ll get easier. Good Luck!
Congratulations!!!! Your cravings will diminish as time goes by, but, unfortunately, you might have them for months. I quit cold turkey 2 years ago and still occasionally crave. Good luck to you, you can do it.....
it-s all up to you cuz as long as you can smell it you could always have the urge, i know cuz i was a smoker
Avoid looking at the huge bill board advertising smoking
I heard,,3weeks.
you officially haven-t quit smoking until you haven-t smoked for 5 years. It takes a long time to quit - my husband quit two years ago and every now and then he gets a craving. You are doing a great job - don-t give in - chew gum instead.
Congratulations!
I quit cold turkey on Dec 7, 1999 and still crave it and am tempted regularly, although it has gotten better as the years go by. I do love the smell (weird, I know) and love to stand downwind from someone smoking. That helps my craving usually. The key is that you have to decide that you-re not going to start again. What I tell myself is that it was too hard to quit and I don-t want to have to quit again. That and it-s a lot more expensive now than when I used to smoke and I don-t know what I-d have to sacrifice in my budget in order to smoke. Probably shoes and purses. NO WAY! lol
Keep on keepin on.
I hear the cravings never subside - once a smoker, the urge is ever present. Good Luck.
Congrats on stopping smoking. :)

To answer your question: For some people, it can take years. For my mom, it was five years. She quit cold turkey and hasn-t smoked in 45 years.

Try to do things that stop your cravings, like chewing gum or eating non-fattening treats.

Good luck and hang in there.
Well, its been 7 years for me, and I still crave one now and then.

Think it depends on how much you were smoking it. Thinking it takes about a week or so. Drink lots of fluids to help flush it out of your system. On Judge Judy (on tv) one time I seen her irate with someone and she said that they can test hair follicles up to like 5 or 6 months.

Know someone that-s a truck driver, and he used to smoke - he did it very rarely so if he got checked at a weigh station (or his employer had a random drug testing) he was safe (he use to not smoke it unless he had a 4 day weekend coming up). And NO I-m not saying anyone should use it here. He was about your weight - about 6 - 1-.

When I was younger I use to smoke with friends (never did anything stronger) and I never liked to go out in public (i.e. the store) because I wasn-t in full control and someone would see me...lol...course was always the passenger in a vehicle not a driver. Good luck on your being free - feels good don-t it. Have a good one!
It could depend on how much of it you were smoking before you stopped. If you were smoking a lot it will take longer to completely be out of your system. If it wasn-t very much it should be about out of your system. I think you can buy a pee test at a drug store to test yourself and see if there is still any trace left to be sure.
more than a year...

even that you lungs won-t heal or look like a non smoker lung.

so just keep it easy, start walking and do some excersice activity...
THC bonds with fat cells it will stay in your body a long time, whether or not it is at a detectable level is another question.

Lots depends on your body fat ratio, the more body fat, the longer its there.

Drinking cranberry juice or any other such thing will not get rid of it.

Most drug tests look for this kind of stuff when they run the tests and if the see an abnormally high result they can declare your test inconclusive which would be the same as a positive test.
DRINK A LOT OF CRANBERRY JUICE.

like **** loads. it speeds it up
6 months
It takes about 6 weeks, if you did it ones. If you abuse thc for some time, it takes up to 3 months. You can shorten that amount of time when you drink a huge amount of water. I have a friend who cleaned himself within 6 days. He drank like 15 liters a day.
it should be out by now. 4 weks i believe

What are some methods to quit smoking? -

all personal answers are welcome, especially if successful.thanx
I wasn-t serious about it for a long time, and would use any excuse to smoke.. to quit I had to DECIDE once and for all, that it enough was enough: I was wasting money I couldn-t afford and risking my life, before I made any progress. Once I decided that I would not be a slave to it anymore, I quit cold turkey. I would say the following thing to myself: TODAY I will not smoke. I have been 100% successful and three years later, I am still not smoking.
Your own mind is stronger than any other method for stopping.
No patches, no gum, no gimmicks, don-t let anyone sucker you. You have to decide that you dont want to do it anymore and then you-ll quit. I smoked for eight years, and then bam! Iquit.

Why do people say its very difficult to quit smoking? -

i-m an ex smoker, i had been smoking for 2 years but decided to quit and you wont believe it that i quit smoking with an ease and now i can-t even take the smell of smoke, i guess if you-re determined and really want to quit then it-s quite an easy job.
Two years isn-t much in the grand scheme of things. I smoked for about fifteen years (gave it up seven years ago), and quitting was incredibly difficult for me. There-s the physical addiction to nicotine to deal with, as well as the -habit- factor of always lighting up at certain times or in certain situations. When you-ve had a cigarette attached to you for so many years, giving them up can be very difficult indeed. I-m glad it was so easy for you, but I have to think that you weren-t a very heavy smoker to begin with, and as I said, two years really isn-t that long. Congratulations on quitting!
your lucky then i guess iv only heard of one other person thats been able to do what you did and just quit but he was after like heaps more than two years... iv quit now for about a month after about ten years and iv found it pretty hard... its been worth it so far tho...
because you suck

Does anyone have any advice about how to get your dad to quit smoking? -

PLEASE IM DESPERATE!!!!
Say a little prayer... prayer works.
Don-t nag your dad either, good luck.
There-s nothing you can do solely.. My dad has smoked since I was born (19yrs) and he still wo-t stop.. He saw his aunt on her death bed gasping for breath on life support getting ready to die and that still wasn-t enough.(she died from smoking).. It-s all up to the person, you cannot force someone to quit. Sry.
Its important to remember that your dad has to want to quit smoking . Its not something they will do just by telling them not too.
You could tell him you are concern about his health if he continues to smoke . And that you want him to be around to see you grow up and be there for you and everyone else.
When he realizes that he starts having health problems and that some of them could be because of his smoking only then will he probably quit at one point .
Or he just doesn-t care and continues to keep smoking .
Yes, keep telling him that the smell makes you sick. Every time he smokes in your presence. Explain to him that second hand smoke is dangerous for your health, and it will be better for his health not to smoke any more. Then help him to get the patch or get some help from his Doctor. And be supportive when he decides to quit. Not smoking in the house or car will be of great help It can take some time, but it will be the best thing he has ever done for himself and his family. Best of luck. Remind him that many have been successful in quiting, and he will be too. God bless you
You can`t, he has to want to quit himself. You might suggest that it is not good for every else to inhale his smoke and maybe he would like to smoke in the garage or outside to protect his love ones.
Speaking from experience (both of my parents were heavy smokers throughout my entire childhood - and my mother still is), he will not quit until he-s ready. You can beg him, buy him smoking cessation products, show him photos of nasty lungs, read him statistics, and you can even try to guilt him... but all it will do is frustrate the both of you.

What you can do however is ask him to compromise with you. Tell him you will not nag him if he will resolve not to smoke in your presence - especially in the house and car.
The patch. If he tries to smoke while on the patch he will feel nauseated and could vomit.
I feel for you honey - but unless it is important to him it is not going to happen. I would suggest that instead of lecturing him or berating him you sit down and talk with him and tell him WHY it is so important to you and ask him if he would at least try - and tell him you will help him by maybe going for a walk with him when he feels that urge to light one up, or get him some flavored toothpicks to chew on instead of smoking. And buy him a box of nicotine patches. Maybe all of these things will work for you.
Give him the facts of what smoking can do, show him a video of a person with no voice box because of smoking, or help him find a support group. My dad just quit smoking after 46 years of doing it. He also had to have a quadruple bypass, smoking was partly to blame. As a smoker myself and after watching my dad please keep in mind you can not force anyone to quit, the person must want to as well or it will not work. And if he does decide to quit, understand there will be mood swings during the process, its all from withdrawls. Look at the national cancer society website, they may have ideas to help. Your local hospital or doctors office may also have tools to use to help him quit.
No, sorry. My dad smokes too and when I was younger i tried to get him to stop and I told him how bad it was and how I didn-t like it but he never did take my advise. So your dad probably won-t listen to you either.
Yes...hide his smokes under the dirty clothes...
Cough whenever he lights up.
tell him when he smokes you smoke
show him pictures of people with bad cancer who are smokers they are something else
Ask him to go and get a chest x-ray. Bring a copy home and show it to him every time he wants a smoke. I smoked since I was 15 and I am 55- I have been smoke free for 4 years= I keep that x-ray as a reminder. For every years you quit your lungs recover. Guilt doesn-t work, reality does.
Good Luck
maybe just tell him how you care about him
It-s rather hard isn-t it? My mom smokes and my brotehr and I are constantly on her about it. The only thing I can suggest is -- Don-t try. I know it may not be the answer you-re looking for, but trust me. For one, they get really agitated with the nagging. htey have to be able to quit at their own pace, if you make them do it, there-s a really good chance they will find some way to do it again. however, do it indescreetly. Ask them to exercise with you, or -join- you on a diet plan to get fit. Once that someone is exercising, they may find that they don-t need to smoke anymore.
idk my moms smoking too she keeps making up stuff. im tired of it. just dont talk to him when hes smoking and ignore him give him the cold shoulder. i hope he quits good luck.
You can-t get anyone to do anything that they don-t want to do. let him know how special it would be if he could stop smoking and then just leave it alone. When he decides FOR HIMSELF that he should stop smoking then he will.

Is it normal to cough more right after you quit smoking? -

Is it normal to cough more right after you quit smoking? -

Nicotine and other drugs in cigarettes actually paralyze the cillia in your bronchial tubes. These are the tiny hair-like projections that work hard to keep impurities out of your lungs. When you smoke, they stop working. When you stop smoking, they spring into action again and push all the crud out of your lungs and bronchial tubes. That-s why you cough so much... to help bring it up. That-s a very good sign, even though it may seem a little annoying or disgusting at first. If you just quit smoking, congratulations on making a great decision. My father died from his cigarette habit, and it was terrible to see him suffer for seven years before he died.
yes
ABSOLUTELY!! I quit 15 yrs ago. This is a CLEANSING COUGH...like others have mentioned. It takes 72 hrs, for ALL the Nicotine to leave your body. After that, it is no longer a physical craving, so to speak. Congratulations...I always said that Quitting Smoking was so easy I did it 22 Times!!....I kept @ it until I was 100% succesful...hardest thing I ever did, - now it-s GR8 to Breathe Again! Hang In Therte...HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH, - DON-T TRASH ANY ACTIVE SMOKERS...THEY KNOW ALREADY....The -DRINK-TONS-OF-WATER- is # 1 Advice....
CONGRADULATIONS ON QUITING!!!
Yes that is perfectly normal.. but it will get better and better!
Read this page about what happens in a timeline after you quit:
http://quitsmoking.about.com/cs/afterqui…

Yes. Your lungs are clearing out.
Coughing is how your lungs clean or decongest themselves, so yes. Be sure that during this period you are drinking plenty of water.

What is the best way to quit smoking naturaly? cuz cold turkey dont work for me? -

What is the best way to quit smoking naturaly? cuz cold turkey dont work for me? -

When you are really, truely ready to quit, you will be able to do it cold turkey. I tried pills, the patch, the inhaler, nicorette gum...nothing worked. When I finally made up my mind to do it, I just did it. I smoked for 19 years...been smoke free for 31/2! You can do it!
(I ate bushels of hard candy for about a month!!! LOL)
Studies have shown cold turkey is the more frustrating but most effective way.

It takes less time and once you-ve completely gone through withdrawal you have less of a chance of going back.

Gobble gobble
The best way to stop smoking is to quit it imediately As soon as u will leave it u will face fallowing problems.
OVERCOME THEM AND ENJOY LIFE.
1The body will start self cleaning toxins from lungs ,blood,As the process continues because of smoking habit u go for ciggaratte to filfull the nicotine which was removed from body ,u call it as habit. so dont lit any more cigarette After few days u will get habituated of this.
2. If u can do this then ur mind will search 100 reasons why to take cigarette and will justify reasons. KEEP BELIEF IN GOD AND USE UR WILL POWER TO REMAIN ON UR DECISION TO LEAVE CIGARETTE.
AND DONT TAKE ANY SABSTITUTE FOR CIGARETTE.
#3 If u feel uneasy take friends or relative help and tell freely ur problem to them or to me, Do take medical help and suggetions or consultancy from family docter,
4,Finally change ur daily routine for somedays and enjoy.
Smoking can be causes by an oral fixation, like when your nervouse it is a habit to have a cigarette in your hands, try gum :) It keeps you buzy and lowers stress.
I-m not trying to be funny, but try going to a doctor and finding out that you have stage-3 lung cancer. Then you-ll quit right there on the spot. That-s what my sister did, but she died last than a year later.

I still grieve her death everyday.
I started smoking for a very stupid reason. when i was in college some guy was smoking next to me. Stupid me thought i would try one and that would be that. Boy was i wrong. i came home for Christmas and my dad warned me that i would get addicted. I just did not listen. I have smoked on and off for the past 9 years. My doc gave me a new drug called chantix. you keep smoking while you take the first pack of of the drug (i think its 10 days) and than you stop smoking, but keep taking the pills until you are ready to stop. My advice for those who smoke or are thinking about it. DONT even have one cig.. once you do you are hooked and for those who already do smoke. STOP. i know its easier said than done, but you will feel better, you will smell better and most of all..you will live lot longer.
I used nicotine gum, exercise, and chewed on regular gum and straws.
Good luck!

Day one down of trying to quit smoking, and am looking for a little advice!? -

Day one down of trying to quit smoking, and am looking for a little advice!? -

I have been smoking for about 4 years, and I am on the patches, which helps the cravings, but not so much the mental addiction. I hate to admit it but today I smoked 1 cigarette and 4 puffs off another. I heard from a lot of people that deep breathing helps, and it hasn-t helped me at all! So I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for me? Thanks!
It is not so much the nicotine addiction that you need to override here, it is the habit of smoking that you need to break....and it is the habit that keeps you reaching for cigarettes. Humans are creatures of habit and once we learn one, good or bad, it is a little tricky to unlearn it. Good news is it can be done!! When you get that urge to light up, stop what you are doing and very, VERY firmly tell your mind -NO!!-... take a deep breath and do something else, preferably something that involves keeping your hands busy. The more you tell your mind NO the more your mind will not ask for it...and it gets easier from there. If your mind is being persistent and really wants one, think about how uncomfortable you feel at that moment in time and if you have one cigarette, just one, you will have to experince this discomfort all over again....and it really isnt- worth it. These are the tricks that worked for me. I still have that habit calling out every so often, but not as strong as it used to be as I have already let my mind know that cigarettes are no longer an option. I have been smoke free since 3/6/03! You can do it!!!
it took me 15 years on and off to give up smokeing, I tried everything and what I found out over that period of time was that unless every single fibre of your being wants to stop smokeing it ain-t gonna happen, no matter what you try.
If you are 100% committed to stopping you can help yourself by avoiding anyone who smokes, not going anywhere that people in general smoke. The craveings actually only last for two or three minutes, when they are bad have a plan of action what are you gonna do? drink water, or take a walk what? don-t let them catch you unawares I wish you the best of luck giving up was the best thing I ever did, 8 years ago now.
The most important thing to do is to not pick up another cigarette, NO MATTER WHAT. Your body is going to scream and shout, because nicotine is about the most addictive substance there is, but your body is not in charge: your mind is, and you can -- and must -- tell your body to shut the f-ck up because it ain-t gonna happen.
Hi,

Unfortunately i don-t have any tips to offer at the moment but have planned tomorrow as my quit day so if you want any support (im sure ill be dealing with cravings tomorrow, uh oh) then feel free to email me.

Good luck and stick with it

iam against you smoking coz its so wrong completely wrong you can get killed for it you know
Try deep beathing and think of something else. Give youself a few minutes doing this and that should help.
Deep breathing will definitely helps you but have to wait and see
u can get these plastic ciggerette thingss, which are just nicotine which dont harm you at all .. ur doctor can subscribe them to you. :)
I just read about some research that found that people using the patch had a higher success rate if they used the patch a week /before/ they stopped! Too late to do that, but maybe you aren-t far off base.

Anyway, just about everyone I know cheated some on nicotine replacement therapy, so I wouldn-t let your slip-up get you down, I used the lozenges (which I liked better than the patches because you have more control over the dose) and occasionally I-d break down and smoke a cigarette. But over time, as I became accustomed to the lower nicotine levels, that urge went away, and eventually it got to the point where when I tried smoking it just grossed me out. So just keep the slip-ups as low as you can and have faith that the symptoms will go away with time.

As to the withdrawal symptoms -- they are that, not habit, the patch doesn-t give you the heavy, rapid dose of nicotine you-re used to, so it cushions the withdrawal rather than eliminates it -- I-ve never found that the deep breathing thing works either. Nothing does, very well, but I-ve found that sucking on hard candy helps. (Not sugarless, alas . . . the sugar seems to be what reduces the cravings.) Also exercise -- it can release endorphins. And, curiously, twirling an earring -- the ear lobe is in acupuncture point. Strange but true, a friend showed me that trick and it does help.

Mostly, stay away from stress if you can, and you-ll just have to ride it out. It will get better. And if this doesn-t work for you, get a prescription for Chantix. If you-re one of the people who can take it, it can be extremely effective.

Whats the best way to quit smoking? -

I have smoked 40 yrs and was a 2 to 3 pack a day for the last three years , i just recently did the patch and slipped again and it seems like depression and nicotine with drawals all over and over helpppppppppp!!
first, you will have to want to quit! i know it sounds stupid, but you really truly are going to want to quit, especially as long as you have been smoking you will need a lot of will power!

second, stay away from nictoine gums and patches! your body does have nicotine receptor sites and it will feed them. so there is a plant called lobelia that will fill those receptors and act like nicotine. i will tell you in advacne it will nto completly stop the cravings but it will help. there are no side affects either, using lobelia

third, nicotine is probably the best stress relivers in the world, because it effects serintonin in the brain. so you will need to address that as well. there is a supplement called 5HTP, you can check any local health food shop or whole foods, it-s usually always in stock!

also drink a lot of water to help detoxify your system.

good luck
Cold turkey is the best way but many people can-t. You could try by cutting back on the number of cigarettes you smoke. Like every week cut back 5 more, then 5 more, and so on.
do something else with your hands and mouth. trying chewing gum or peppermints. try the nicotine gum and then start crafty projects or drawing. something that will keep you mind, hands and mouth busy.
cold turkey is the only way. it is going to suck...it-s going to make you hate yourself and hate your life...but when you-re done and over, you-ll never be so happy. imagine all the extra years you will get to spend with your family.
Try the blue cross blue shields program!
My husband quit cold turkey. We had small children and I asked him to please stop smoking and he did. He had smoked for over 20 years.
hipnosis
Ok Bonnie, I will tell you how I kicked the habit. I went to the doctor and he put me on ziban, so you start taking it and you can smoke your brains out for 10 days after that your brain takes you off the nicotine craving and you just quit, its that simple. Give it a try and see.
A book - Allen Carr-s Easy Way to Stop Smoking - trust me! After 25 years of smoking my partner gave up which meant I had to even though I didn-t want to. Tried a patch - lasted 5 hours. Bought this book and was sceptical but when I finished reading I just screwed up my smokes and chucked them out. That was 6 months ago and I can tell you honestly I will never smoke again. Do some research - read the reviews - most importantly read the book! If you are serious about giving up then you will give up with this method. I still can-t believe how easy it was - I had maybe one day of being cranky and now I-m free. Sometimes I can-t remember what it was like being a smoker and can-t believe that I was one for so long. I have no desire whatsover to smoke again. When I am around smokers the smell makes me sick. It-s like I-m brainwashed - it-s fantastic! What have you got to lose?
Figure out why do you smoke and find something else to cover for it. If you smoke because you-re bored, bring a book to read everywhere you go. Do you smoke because you are angry at someone and smoking prevents you from strangling them, get a punching bag.
my husband quit with the help of xyban [for the 2nd time]. he had tried many times before, with various methods, including xyban, but kept slipping. the last time he slipped he felt so guilty and horrid that he didn-t want to try again. finally a neighbor, [nurse], told us that there are several time frames when you seem to just hit a brick wall and thats when you are most likely to fail.
the first one is around six weeks, then four months and then you still get the urge every once in a while. every time my hubby failed it was at the four months mark, so the next time he tried to quit he knew what to expect and was better able to deal with it. it still wasn-t the easiest thing to do but it is quite a habit to kick.
he hasn-t smoke for five years now.
when i quit i quit cold turkey....................out of fear..............i had a bad cold and we went to a party and well you know, smoke smoke smoke......the next day i could barely breath. i quit right then, but apparently i was a -tad- grouchy according to my family. lol
keep trying....-cause you can do it...and just a little note: my husband quit in 2001. in 2002 he suffered a heart attack and stroke. the docs told him if he had still been smoking he would not have survived. so please do yourself, your family, your mate, your friends, a favor..........try again!
keepin- my fingers crossed for you
s.b.
How to stop smoking? Stop putting the cigarette to your lips and lighting it. ha ha.

On a more serious note, stop taking your failures so seriously. On average it takes most long-time smokers at least 20 tries before it sticks. First, you have to be able to conquer the addiction....that takes the body about 2 weeks to a month depending on how strong the addiction was. For me, it was like coming off heroin. I puked for 2 weeks straight.

Then after you have the addiction beat, you have to conquer the habit. That-s the hardest part. You quite literally have to change your lifestyle to make this stick. You have to find alternatives to your previous behaviours....i.e. smoking in the car, or at work, or going out with friends to a pub, or going to places where you could lite up. I still remove myself from a group of smokers and avoid situations where there might be smokers. I still crave it so bad and it has been 9 years for me....but I also know I-ll never smoke again.

Some chewing gum or anti-nicotine patch.
Try using Allen Carr’s Easyway To Stop Smoking. You can buy the book, watch the DVD or attend an Allen Carr Clinic. All Allen Carr therapists have been smokers and have used his method to quit. Providing you have an open mind, you will find this method not only easy but enjoyable. It doesn’t have to be traumatic. Smokers make it hard for themselves because they don’t go about it the right way. Check out the website www.allencarr.com.au to find out more.
You might try chewing gum. Lots and lots of gum, all day long. Go to the store and buy like 40 value packs. You-d be out about what a carton of smokes costs. Get sugarless gum or gum that is not too bad for your teeth. Then chew gum all day, 15 hours worth. If it does not work I will let you kick me once, but not twice.
Nicoderm CQ. Helped me quit without any cravings. I never went back, - I had been smoking 2 1/2 pax daily.
hi, you can either use the nicotine chewing gum or the nicotine adhesive patches. but the paches is better because it gives you a regular dose of nicotine which this is not found in chewing gums. also you can decrease the use of patches regularly until you quite smoking completly
i think you should take a lot of sweets..black hacks i mean...
Chew those helping to quit smoking chewing gums.

Has anyone tried acupuncture to quit smoking? Results? How about Chantix??? Side Effects??? -

Has anyone tried acupuncture to quit smoking? Results? How about Chantix??? Side Effects??? -

I took Chantix for about 3 months (October 06-December 06). It worked great for me. Main side effects I had included upset stomach (during week 1 when I took the medicine and when I smoked and only for about 30 minutes after taking the medicine in all the other weeks), problems sleeping (week 1) and really weird, vivid dreams (entire time). Other than that, it worked great.

I highly recommend it. If you decide to take it find out if your insurance will cover it. If not, call around to various pharmacies and price shop. My insurance covered it so I just got it at the local Walgreens but one person I know said it was cheaper at Costco (no membership required to use their pharmacy).
My mom is not a heavy smoker, but she wanted to quit the habbit all together so she tried Chantix two weeks ago and so far so good! No cravings or anyhting! My cousin also tried it and she said it only took her a month. Good luck to you!
Chantix is an excellent way to quit smoking with minimal short-lived side effects. For more Chantix information, please click the following link:

My friend and her husband did the acupuncture and they did stop smoking. Prior to acupuncture they tried everything under the sun with no success. After the acupuncture treatment the doctor told them to wear a rubber band on their wrist and whenever they had the urge they were to snap it against there skin. They were able to go back for acupuncture as many times as they needed to fight the cravings but after only 4 visits they didn-t need anymore treatments and they kicked the habit and have not smoked since. This was about 5 months ago.
Acupuncture will work if you desperately want to quit if not your wasting your money and time,i know from experience acupuncture in the ear is a wee bit painful, but if u desperately want to quit it works
My husband did the acupuncture and it works. No side effects at all.

Im on the nicotine patch to quit smoking but i occasionally smoke Hookah. Is that safe to do? -

I am really disgusted and can not wait until i can look back and say that I-ve been cigarette free! I do hang out at hookah bars and although smoking cigarettes are not allowed inside it is a hookah bar and i do smoke hookah (flavored tobacco) will this give me any side effects because I-m on the nicotine patch?
Yes it is safe to do...shisha contains minimal traces of nicotine and tar making it impossible to -overdose-. Being around cigarettes might make you want to start up again, but smoking hookah shouldn-t have any effect that will make you want to start smoking cigarettes again.
I-ve tried just about every method there is out there and there is only one I can recommend - NLP! It eliminates the cravings.
Gum patches and all the other just did not cut it for me, not to mention cold turkey which was the hardest, I even tried the electric cig and it is just no match to the real thing.
Check out this article:

it’s the one that got me off the cigs and smoke free for GOOD even without gaining weight! :)

Good luck kicking the habit!
Matthew.
stay away from anything involving tobacco!!!! and do not take the patch and also smoke tobacco, that is like a tobacco overload to your body and you will get very very sick if you consume too much tobacco! try replacing nicotine with gum, the patch doesnt work at all. stay out of hookah bars at all times or else you will never quit smoking tobacco. the nicotine gum works really well but you end up getting addicted to the gum but its a lot easier to stop the nicotine gum than it is to stop smoking tobacco. i quit cold turkey myself. it was a very hard rough 1st week but after that you can control the desire to smoke tobacco. and you also feel better about yourself and you dont smell like cigarettes. well good luck !
It is not a good idea to take a flavored tobacco product while using the nicotine patch. You are increasing your dependence on nicotine and decreasing your chances of being tobacco/nicotine free. Breaking a nicotine dependence is hard to do. I think this site can help. (www.u-can-quit-smoking-cigarettes.com)
http://www.cipladoc.com/therapeutic/admin.php?mode=prod-action=disp-id=692

Visit the web site you will find the alternative way to quit smoking. If you wish only than.
Avoid going places where your know you can-t control smoking by any means...

You can definately quit the smoking. visit the website and consult your doctor regarding it.
Many people have quit by it.

Just don-t try, make a will. best of luck.
Why are you even bothering with the nicotine patch if you-re smoking hookah? You shouldn-t even go into a smokey bar when you-re trying to quit.
All cigarettes cause damage to the human body. Hence, any smoking is dangerous. Cigarettes are the only legal product whose advertised and intended use - smoking - is known to harm the body and cause cancer.

Research has confirmed that even smoking as few as 1 to 4 cigarettes a day can lead to serious health outcomes, including an increased risk of heart disease and a greater chance of dying at a younger age.

Spit, oral, smokeless, chewing, and snuff tobacco, snus (sounds like -snoose-) - a type of moist snuff first used in Sweden, smoking pipes or cigars, clove cigarettes (kreteks), bidis, hookahs, are all different forms of tobacco and are equally dangerous. Even if the health risks were smaller for some tobacco products as opposed to others, all tobacco products contain nicotine, which can lead to increased use and addiction. Do not think tobacco is safe in any amount or form.

Due to the unpleasantness of the withdrawal symptoms, many people who try to quit smoking end up replacing the cigarettes with some other type of addiction. This may be an addiction to prescription medication, such as sleeping tablets or tranquilizers, or an addiction to food. While you will definitely experience the health benefits of giving up nicotine, no one wants to replace one addiction with another!

A healthy diet, adequate exercise as well as natural and holistic treatments such as acupuncture, massage and herbal and homeopathic remedies can also help the smoker overcome nicotine addiction. Herbal and homeopathic treatments are a safe and effective means to reduce nicotine cravings (without giving you more nicotine) and will also help to prevent weight gain and alleviate anxiety and irritability. Basically, natural and holistic treatments not only lessen the urge to smoke, but also help you to restore balance in your body.

There are a number of ingredients such as Avena sativa, Garcinia cambogia and Gotu Cola (Centella asiatica) which will help to address the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. They reduce nicotine cravings and balance the mood.

When you quit smoking and then star why does it give headaches? -

When you quit smoking and then star why does it give headaches? -

So I quit for bout 2 months or so and I started again... I know it gives u headaches but why?
I have seen that doctors(some random number) site keep popping up in posts, I-d check it if I didn-t think it was a virus, but thats just my paranoia.

But as far as smoking headaches go. Your body is dependent on the nicotine, so its the same as with any addiction. When the nicotine is removed from the body the body feels worse because it cannot find it anywhere in the body, hence the nicotine patches that are so nicely advertised.

But nicotine is also a psychotic drug in essence. It calms you down, the headaches again are just a reaction to a lack of nicotine.

Keep trucking, it will get better, just take advil when you can to relax the headaches, or any other type of asprin. Just not too much =)

I just quit smoking and feel like punching someone in the face? Should I? -

Uuumm let me think about that . NO!!!! I quit smoking to. I sat down and thought about what I did differently this time, I have been keeping my hands busy. For example I am on the computer more, I have been doing more around the house. If I think about a cigarette, I get up and find something to distract me. Your off to a good start. If you cant handle it you might want to invest in the nicorette gum. Good luck to ya.

Its only been a week for me.
I think this is one of your best decisions. You will have days like this, but, you must know what are the advantages of quitting:

http://www.knowabouthealth.com/cigarette…

This will keep you motivated throughout. My friend was chain smoker and he quit. He use to say, just be mentally strong and you can do it. Here are some tips that helped him:

http://www.knowabouthealth.com/8-easy-ti…

A couple of friends of mine are trying to quit smoking and everytime they try, they wind up punching someone or fighting. Seems to work for them, maybe you should try it. Just don-t get beat up.
Yes. Find the most annoying person on your office that you wanted to punch in the face even before you quit and punch her square in the face. You have a good excuse!
Yes, you need a replacement for not smoking anymore. A replacement will help you withdraw the desire to smoke a lot faster.
yes, absolutely. Make sure it is someone in law enforcement that way you will be arrested and put in jail where you can-t smoke and the temptation will be taken away. good luck
Don-t unless you-re looking to get in trouble.
Absolutly. Do it twice in fact, and then a kick in the balls.
you should punch yourself in the face

How to quit smoking? my friend has been trying to quit since long time but hasnt been able to do so? -

He leaves for one or 2 days and smokes double the next day. ANy tips plz?
I recommend cutting down gradually until your quit date. I did this. I cut down to half a pack. I did this for three months. I smoked by the puff, not by the cigarette. I took only the amount of nicotine that was necessary to satisfy my urge to smoke and put the rest of the cigarette out.

After doing this for three months I quit cold turkey.

Now I-m eating more candy to distract me but its been 10 months. I have urges but they don-t last more than a second or two. If they-re lasting more than that then you-re concentrating on the cigarette. Don-t do it. Concentrate on something else.
·The cravings for nicotine parallels the cravings for Heroin, it is that strong. The tobacco companies now put put a chemical in cigarettes to help extinguish when not puffed on , thus making cigarettes more dangerous than ever. The result is making it harder to quit and you are basically giving your hard earned money to them. With the Alternative Smoking Device I will never go back.
I gave up trying to quit, after forty year of smoking and 2 weeks of trying an Alternative Smoking Device, I liked the product so much I became a distributor for it. I still get my High Nicotine but in a safer fashion and at less than half the cost.
I devoted one page on my website for a short discription of the product. A link on that page will tell you more if you need it.

1) Make smoking as painful as possible

If you have failed to give up smoking it’s quite possible that you have not attached enough pain to the habit and hence you keep going back to it. We will do allot in life to avoid pain so why not leverage this to help you quit. So have a think right now, what’s the most painful thing about smoking? is it the health problems or the smelly clothes? You need to decide. If you can’t find one try going to visit a few cancer victims and seeing how things turn out for smokers. Whatever it takes. Continuing smoking has to be as unattractive an option as possible.

2) Make the non smoking you very attractive

You also need to look at the benefits of being a non smoker. There are many but find whichever is the most attractive to you. Is it being able to see your kids grow up? Being able to run up the stairs? Whatever it is latch on to it and let it guide you. It will keep you off the smokes as you continue along.

3) Take action

Remember that nothing in life will get done until you make the decision and put things into place. You have to stop putting off the idea of quitting and finish up now. Allot of people put off so many decisions in life put putting this one off could kill you so decide that you want to be a non smoker today and be it.
Why dont you suggest to him that everytime he needs to go buy a new pack, to put that money in a jar or something. Let him see how much money accumulates that he would be sending down the drain. What about looking at pictures of people who have cancers and lung disease from smoking? You have only one body, and if you break it, you die. Simple as that.

Another thing that might help if for him to get himself a support group of other recovering -smokers.- It helps if you talk about quitting with other people who are doing the same thing you are.

Chantix worked for me after trying everything else.
The best thing for him would be a prescription drug call Chantix - it is new and is specifically for quitting smoking. It is an amazing medication that completely removes the desire to smoke after a very short time. Make him an appointment with his doctor to get a prescription. I-ve seen so many people quit smoking with this drug (my step-dad, father-in-law, mother-in-law, numerous friends and COUNTLESS patients). You will be very happy with the results, I promise!
I STARTED TO smoke when i was 20
till 38 i smoked
at 38 i was smoking 30 - 35 cig daily
my wife told me to stop
she made promises
one day my children asked me if they can smoke tooo.
that day i planned to stop
finally i went to achruch and without telling any one
i asked god if he can help me stop this habit
and i stopped from that movement
its 4 years now
i have never touched
or have any problem
i am felling better than before
its in the mind
make up the mind
and nothing is impossible
all you can do is encourage him,his will power and maybe the patches or gum will help.keep candy, gum, things like that around the house too.and beware he will be cranky.
Seriously the best thing to do is not nag, it is an addiction that he can only give up when he is ready.
it is never too late.
tell him how much it is damaging his health, how expensive, how horrible and smelly they are. do you have kids? ask if he wants them to grow up smoking (he is their role model) or if he wants them to be fatherless because he has died of a smoking related illness. Lay heavy guilt trips on him, get him patches, take him to a smoking cessation clinic, drag him round a cancer ward in hospital, refuse to sleep with him, take away all his money.....do anything!!!!
it is the best thing you can ever do for him.
Good luck.

cold turkey!!!! i smoked 35 years but i have been smoke free for 5 years!!!i used gum and life savers for a couple of weeks ..i also chewed on a straw cause it gave me something to hold that felt sorta like a cigarette...i kept a pack in my freezer for 1 year never smokedthem but at least i knew they were there ...i never had really bad withdrawals also i was a chain smoker...you can do it good luck
The most popular non-pharmacological treatments for smoking cessation include: acupuncture, laser therapy, electrostimulation, hypnosis and autohypnosis, bioresonance, as well as herbalism, aromatherapy and homeopathic methods.
Do a research to see if you like any of them.
try using chewing gum ? works when you want to smoke?
HYPNOSIS!! it works!
Cold turkey. I smoked for 32 years. If I can do it, you can, too. It wasn-t nearly as hard as I thought it would be.
This method works for me, I quite smoking 2 years ago
and is the only money back guaranteed.

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”

Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees

“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”

Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital

“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”

Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong

“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”

Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London

”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”

Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP

“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”

Celebrity Endorsements

-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson

“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

GOOD LUCK!
Cold Turkey girl, COLD TURKEY. That-s how I had to do it, that-s how my uncle, boss, friends, and Aunt had to. I honestly don-t think there-s any other way.

Try chewing gum, and drinking lots of water. Also try exercising, as this will release built up stress and tension. Get plenty of sleep as well.

Cold turkey - that-s how I did it!!
Honestly, cold turkey. Don-t buy anymore cigs and don-t use any patch or gum. Use your own will power. Cuase if you can do it on your own then it won-t be hard staying off. I-ve heard that smoking is part of an oral fixation and that when people stop smoking they start eating and may gain weight. But that part is up to you to control. I know couple of people who have quit recently and they long time smokers, over 20 years. They say you can stop but YOU have to really want to stop.
Will power and relaxation. If u do pranayams regularly, u will not feel the urge to smoke. Lots of my acquaitances have stopped/reduced smoking/drinking.
start practising non smoking habits.............
Cold Turkey. It-s true but you have to convince yourself first, not everyone else.

-gives you all the information you need on quit, and the effects of smoking and quitting.
This is strange, but true. I never would have believed it ,but it happened to me and I am still in shock! My doctor prescribed me Welbutrin-and it actually worked. I had heard they pass it out at meetings for people who want to quit smoking, but the idea seemed absolutely absurd. I am still amazed-you should try it.
cold turkey playa!
Fasting for three days. Here-s some info...
http://www.freedomyou.com/addiction/toba…
And just so you know, fasting is completely healthy if you do it right and it-s very good for you. This website has lots of info on the benefits. Good luck, though, however you go about it!!! And if you slip up.. quit again.
Cold turkey. But, pick up a healthy -addiction- such as working out, running, etc.
eat healthy and drink lots of grapefruit juice...especially when you get cravings. the vitamin C cleans your blood of nicotine and the sour/bitter taste of grapefruit juice kills the taste in your mouth that signals the want for a cigarette.
Dont buy the ciggerates.
Lobelia! It not only calms the body down, but it also tricks the body into thinking it has been given nicotene when it hasn-t!
Also, drink distilled water. This will flush the nicotene out of your system quicker.
Lastly, identify your triggers. Mine were when I was on the phone, when I had coffee - behind the steering wheel. I put carrot sticks, celery sticks - cinnamin sticks in these places for the hand/mouth fixation. I-ve been smoke free for over 10 years.
Good luck.
Quitting smoking is easy; I-ve done it a thousand times.
STAYING quit it hard.
Try eating candies!
I quit by reading a book from Allen Carr -Easy Way to Quit Smoking.- I finished the slim book in one day and haven-t touched a cigarette since I finished the last word. But you first WANT to quit smoking. After you read the book, and you quit smoking, you can come back and choose me for best answer... that-s how confident I am that you-ll quit. Visit his website www.allencarrseasyway.com
this is how i quit. instead of lighting up, -smoke- a cut carrot that fits your hand or celery that fits your hand. as you take a drag, you will have something to chew on. believe it or not, for me this was a great solution to quit smoking. the greatest thing is after a few weeks, your tastebuds will again rejoice and all of your food will taste delicious. now quit worrying about how much weight you could gain. quitting smoking is far more healthy than gaining weight.
Hi,
Since I quit, I-m constanly now being asked -How Do I Stop Smoking?-
I really emphathise with you, I quit my 20 a day habit in a pain-free way!
No stress, no cravings, no weight gain, no pills, patches or gums.
The program I followed was recommended by a friend and now boasts a 90% success rate and is 100% fully guaranteed - can-t say fairer than that

All the best..

cold turkey.... u have 2 really want 2 quite trust me it will work...everytime u feel like a smoke get someting else 2 chew or suck on
Try the patch (Nicoderm). I-ve heard a lot of people have quit using those.
i have tried many times. I have heard all types of suggestions. Some weird ones and some obvious ones. I think the best help for me surrounding my self with positive people. WHo support my breaking a really hard habbit. And even if they didnt understand how hard it really is, to still support me. And finding other things to do when I would smoke the most (on the computer, phone and in my car)! Good luck!!
