25 ways to quit smoking? -

I do NOT smoke. i need 25 ways for a school project. can you tell me 25 good ways to quit?
No, but I-ll tell you the one weird way that worked for me...

Cinnamon sticks. I chewed on cinnamon sticks. They taste good, but are not overpowering, and are about the same size and shape of a smoke. So it kept my hands busy.
A big part of smoking for me was being bored...that-s when I wanted to smoke most, when I had nothing to do. So that really helped.
One modern way to help stop smoking would be to buy the electronic cigarette, it looks just like a real cigarette and when u inhale it the end lights up like a normal cigarette, you buy cartidges for it that give you the nicotine and that slightly realistic tobacco taste, It also gives off some fake smoke to give it a more realistic affect

I quit smoking 2 months ago. How long before my body feels the benefits.? -

How long before the lungs are clear and my body rids me of the damage I have done to myself from smoking for 38years. When will I stop dreaming about smoking? When I wake from those dreams I am really upset with myself until I realise that it was a dream.
Different parts of your body will recover at different rates. Be patient with yourself and keep telling yourself what a great person you are!

These issues will peel off one by one until they are all gone.
I quit smoking cold turkey too - in 1972! Never smoked again.

i stoped 12 years ago. ami healther ...im sure iam....do i feel better after stoping...NO....do i still want a cigarette.....hell yes....does my food taste better ....NO....do i sleep any better ....NO.......does sex last longer ....NO(doc said it would) but then after all i stoped so i would live longer.....................
Your lungs will start to clear immediately. You will never repair any of the damage done to your lungs. Once the alveoli are destroyed they never grow back and you may end up with lung problems in a few years. It is good you quit. After 38 years of smoking it is normal to have those dreams, they will go away soon. If you are on a patch they can cause you to have those dreams. Good luck
You will be reminded of the -good old days- every time you get a whiff of someone-s cigarette smoke or see a butt laying in your driveway. It took me six months of trying every day, just to quit completely. It took me over one year in addition to get over the craving.
I cannot say I ever noticed feeling better after I quit, which was 30 years ago. You have no way of knowing if smoking caused any damage, either temporary or permanent, unless something shows up in the future.
Bad dreams are something some people have to live with. My worst dream, still plaguing me for over 30 years: I dream that I cannot make it on the outside and have to go back in to the Army to survive. If I have that dream tonight, I am going to blame you.
usually 2-4 more weeks depending on how strong your body is
Sorry...But If you smoke for like 38 years your lungs are already VERY damage,The-re is nothing you can do about it...till you die

If I quit smoking, will I still look this cool? -

I mean, come on, if you-re gonna kill yourself, at least do it with style.
that depends on how cool you look now. But im betting your overall cool factor will not decrease a significant amount. If you are worried about the cool factor replace smoking with kick butt fonzi style leather jacket, or motorcycle. motorcycle is almost as dangerous as smoking anyway.
yeah...i have to agree with you on that one.
I just don-t think smoking looks cool anyway. I nearly killed myself in a car accident. Just me and the tree.. I love driving, I really enjoy driving. But I am much more careful about driving since that incident. I guess smokers should have the same attitude. If you got sick your opinion may change.
Yes actually smoking does not make you look cool no matter how much you think it does. It actually makes you look unattractive and uncool as well as harms your body and lifestyle. You have great gifts and talents that is what makes you look cool not puffing tar and nicotine into your lungs!
smoking isn-t cool to begin with so i think if you smoke you look like an idiot! Guys smoking is not attractive to me in any way!
I dont know just how cool you look, so I can not give you a definate answer, but most likely you would stay the same, but you would smell better. I smoke to and wish I did not (cigarettes that is)
Nah...if you quit smoking, you-ll begin that awful, godforsaken journey towards looking like a vegan.
Resist! Resist the new aesthetic of -healthy is cool- - you know the truth; smoking makes you look like Brando, non-smoking makes you look like Rick Moranis :oD
No u will definately not look as cool...but u probably won-t die anytime soon. It-s a catch 22!!
Probably not. Yeah, yer gonna die anyways.
YOU WONT BE COOL, you be a douche, continue smoking man, chicks dig a guy who smokes, makes you look real cool
QUit smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....
is the best thing u can do ... and yes!! YOU ARE STILL GOING TO BE THAT COOL.. MORE COOL to be strong enough toquit it... that takes -big nuts- to do...
good luck
a cigarette isn-t going to determine if you are cool or not, you do that yourself.

if people only think you are cool when you are smoking then they are not worth bothering with
u must be a kid if u think smoking makes u look cool
Smoking does not look cool.
You may not look as cool, but you won-t smell as bad either. You won-t have that hunk of phlegm in your lungs that you have to cough up every once in a while. You won-t die as soon. You-ll have more money to spend.
yeah

Good for you! It-s one of the best things you can do for yourself. Some things that helped me:

Drink lots of water.

Identify -links- to smoking, such as -have a cup of coffee, have a cig- or -have a meal, then have a cig.- Start extending the time for these links. For example, you have to wait 15 minutes after coffee or a meal before you can smoke. Then 30 minutes, and so on.

Find some red (cinnamon) mouthwash, and swish it around your mouth whenever you-re thinking of smoking--kills the taste for one.

Exercise as much as you can, especially doing things that make you out of breath.

Nicotine patches or gum are good, so are the medications like Chantix.

Use every tool you can. I know some former heroin addicts who say quitting cigarettes was tougher than quitting heroin. Think positive, even if it feels silly, and focus on how good you-re going to feel, and how proud of yourself you-ll feel, when you-re a non-smoker!

Good luck!
There are a couple of questions...

do you have trouble quitting?

have you tried quitting before with no luck?

do you constantly crave a cigarette?

if yes to any of these, then you might not ever be able to quit without extreme drugs or a life threatening illness, like cancer. This is because some people have it in their genes to not be able to stop. its genetic. talk to your doctor for some drugs.

If it is easy for you to stop, here are some suggestions,

*try stopping slowly: (long time)
try having the normal amount of cigarettes you normally take and the every day or every other day smoke one less. by the 3rd or 4th week then you will be down to one cigarette a day or even a week and it will be easy to stop.

*Chewing gum:
nicotine gum

*The patch
i don-t really know if it works that well.

REMEMBER, EXERCISE ALWAYS HELPS ANYTHING!

there-s a lot of ways to quit smoking. There-s the nicotine patch and or gum. There-s also a medications such as chantix. The best way for me was to just quit cold turkey. You have to just make a commitment to not smoking any more and make a date to stop. You just have to stick with it.
I got a chest infection, and had to have a Chest Ex-ray, which i had to wait 3weeks for , that 3 weeks Makes you reflect on years of smoking, and then whilst you are waiting you start to think of the worse Illness smoke related to smoking, when the XRAY results camre through CLEAR, i thought that was a wake up call , so i went cold turkey and its been 2years now non smoking , it does get better over time ,now i cant stand the smell of cigs ,
I have stopped 3 days ago - using Zyban. The product is very good, you can continue smoking as you are taking it for about two weeks. After two weeks, you find that cigarettes start tasting disgusting and you don-t even crave them as much.

Good Luck!
after a few heart attacks, triple bypass, two stints,i stoped, but for one year was going crazy,.after fourteen months no more cravings.cant stand being around cig smoke at all now.It was the toughest thing i have ever had to do in my 56 years of living.Facing death was the only thing that made me stop.Stupid ME.I tried all the gums, patches and smoked just as many cigs while using that stuff. For the people that stop in two weeks they have know idea what addiction is.
I went for jogs everytime I had a craving.
Stopped me smoking and I got fit.

Nicotine patches and gum are really good too.
Whenever you crave for one, run as fast as you can to get the heart beat up, then the craving goes away.. Also chew gum.
Mmm I-m going to have a ciggy right now - it-s going to be as awesome as the last one.
buy a jigsaw and sit doing that while you watch tv keep your hands busy and avoid situations where you smoke
cut down ur cigerettes by chewin gum!

which one would you recommend for me? I-m trying to quit as well.
Do not be fooled by brands of patches. Well at least not the Target brand. I choose to use the target brand because well it was cheaper. I started with Step 1, then moved to two. Now I-m using Step 1 and cutting them in half. This way you get double the amount of patches and still get to have the benefits of the patch.
Cold turkey is the only way to go. Simply stop. All NRT does is prolong the misery.
I have nicorette and the patch, I havent tried to quit yet-keep putting it off. Hard it is and unless you set your mind to it, you wont succeed
Nicoderm
Honestly, patches and gum only continue to feed your nicotine addiction. The best thing to do is simply quit. Easy for me to say, I know, but I quit smoking just over a year ago and I did it through hypnosis. Nicotine only remains in your system for 72 hours. After that, the rest is just habit. Just quit! Don-t trade one bad habit for another. My son went back to cigarettes so that he could give up nicotine gum. JUST QUIT!

What was the toughest part when you quit smoking? -

Hardest part for me after I quit was fighting the moments I felt a cigarette was most appropriate:

1) In the Morning
2) Out Drinking
3) After Eating
4) After Sex
5) Stressful situations

During those times it became like second nature for me to have a smoke, so when I quit, the hardest part was not having one during those times.
the whole quitting thing ( i cant)
Dunno, haven-t quit. Can-t!

I quit smoking a month ago. And I know it takes time for your lungs to repair. I had a cold weeks ago? -

and now starting to feel like I am sick again.

I am having a hard time breathing.

I don-t know what to do?

I have taken cold medicines and nasal stuff. Drinking plenty of water.

Any advice?
Is it a cold or where I quit smoking?
If you are having a hard time breathing, you need to go to the ER, right now. Seriously.

This is not a natural result from quitting smoking, you may be having an asthma attack, allergies or be in anaphylactic shock (the last of which can kill you).

Go. Go now.
After I quit smoking in last April, I have experienced the symptoms that you have now. Shortness of breath, tight chest, dry mouth, stuffy nose, ill. etc. It-s the detoxing and healing process which may last longer than you thought or like. One of my friend also told me that cold like symptom was with him for a year after he quit smoking.

Congrats to your quit and don-t give up! It gets easier.
Could be your lungs are trying to clean themselves out. A lot of times, after quitting smoker, a person may experience more coughing than usual. This is your lung-s way of getting all that gunk out of them. If you are still concerned and not feeling well, go to the doc and let them check you out to be on the safe side.
Probably bronchitis...See a pulmonologist for proper treatment.
yes -follow up with your pulmonologist.

How can I quit smoking and not gain any weight? -

I-m eating all day long...
replace your cravings with excercise.

when you would normally stop and have a smoke, just walk around the building or block or whatever.

new thoughts will come to mind (there will be plenty to think about) once your moving and soon that cigarette really will just be a memory. It will feel so good to get a few minutes of fresh air instead of smoke in your lungs.

Good luck (I am trying too right now!)
it would prabably mean you need to stop eating. wow. that-s seems simple enough.

I started smoking when I was 14. I quit smoking 3 months ago, and I-m currently 23. If you haven-t quit smoking, do you plan on doing so? Why or why not?
Started at 18, I-m 38 now, quit smoking yesterday.

NOT HAPPY.
Thank you :-) So far I have made it - no smoking, and two trips to the store without buying cigarettes (that was so hard) - Thanks again!

hello, i use snuff,a filthy habbit i confess an diaprove of using tobacco but i have never had any sugsess quiting nicotene patches might as well be surgical tape, the tablets seem to me to be sugar pills. nothing works. when i was a child, my dads hands were in sutch bad shape healthwise he could not roal cigarettes and i roaled them for him. he permited me to smoke even back then. when you try to stop and brag about will power, try using it somewtime when you have dyreah and see how well it works and let me know how sugsessful you are. i will never quit because i can not and realy wish i could, alsoi wish i had never smokes a single puff. if you realy did quit, congratulations! i wish i could
started 3 months ago. not planning on quitting anytime soon. i-m in my early 30-s.
perhaps you should have thought ahead when you were 14. but if you hit the 3 month hump, im sure you can make it. if not, be ready for a premature grave. =P
I was 14 also. I quit 2 years ago because it started to make me feel sick everytime I lit up. I-m 27 now. I picked it back up last year though for about 2 months. But then I quit again because I found out I was pregnant. Now I refuse to smoke and I don-t let anyone do it around me or my son. I am a very obnoxious reformed smoker. It-s a truly disgusting habit.
I started regularly smoking when I was 17 and quit right before my 24th birthday. It has been almost 4 years since I quit, although I will have an occasional smoke if I am drinking.
emm.. i started smoking a year ago. BECAUSE of my f*** friends..like toge, ken, jedink, etc. But, now i try to quit. But unfortunately i CAN-T!!

so now i just can starring at the ceiling and regret myself that i had been so damn stupid to follow toge, especially.
Quit 4 years ago - smoked for about 13 years. It took a couple tries before I finally quit. It was so hard, but definitely worth it.
I started at 20 and havent yet quit at 30 .. may be i will soon ...
I started smoking at 16, my friends were doing it and I followed suit.

I quit when I was 22, thanks to an old boyfriend who hated cigarette smoke.

I will very rarley have a -puff- off a cigarette if I-ve been drinking. It just makes me realize that it really doesn-t taste that good.
I started smoking when I was 8 years old. Tried quitting, then quit trying to quit. 28 now. Probably die of lung cancer or something right shortly. Too hard to quit. I-d rather detox from Heroin than smokes, it-s easier.
I started smoking when I was 24. Now 31. Quit a few times on and off. Off when I don-t work. On when I do work. Main reason why I want to quit permanently is because of my nephew. He hates it when I smoke. For me that-s good enough reason as any to do so. Can-t do it later, rather do it now.
I started when I was 12 years old and quit 4 years ago I am 26 now. I tried for a long time but one day just got sick of it and I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo… glad :)

It is worth your health to quit. and it wasn-t that hard the first few months were the hardest and I don-t miss it at all

I need some help on a question in my class that talks about how to write a goal to quit smoking. Help please? -

I have a question in my study skills class where we have to describe a certain goal that they give us, and one of the goals is to quit smoking, but I know nothing about smoking, so I have no idea how I would describe how to quit except to go to the store and get some of those patches and the gum. How would I go about describing how one would quit smoking? Any help with this would be appreciated! Thanks!
Do you have friends or relatives who struggle with a nicotine addiction? Also try google searching and see what you find. I would be in the same predicament as you having never smoked. On the other hand my mom and step-father have smoked in their earlier lives and my dad still smokes. That would be the first place I would start.
quitting is for *******

How long does it take for your lungs to heal after you quit smoking? -

Depends on how long you have been smoking and were you a one pack a day smoker or two pack a day smoke. Too many variable. Like how long will take to take the paint off a house, depends on how many coats of paint it has on it.
sorry, i think they are somewhat damaged for life. they will probably get better a little bit after a couple of months or so, but they will never just revert back to the way they were before you made the bad decision to smoke.
The effects are almost immediate. I smoked for 20 years - not less than a large pack a day. When I finally quit in 1984, in just days, that mild little irritating coughing eased.... Sadly, it did leave me with some emphysema - my own damn fault!
they never do heal they damage has beendone and theres nothing u can do although it is very wise to quit smoking b/c ur not really doing any more damage 2 ur lungs
I-m a nurse. I-m so sorry to tell you this but the damage is done and is not reversible. I would however recommending you from now on take good care of yourself. Give yourself a lot of credit for breaking this habit, many people are searching for what you have found, the key to freedom of smoking. My mom is a smoker and she has tried many years to stop. Good luck to you and be very proud of yourself.
I have COPD, I quit almost 2 years ago

I still have to have oxygen
Your lungs will not totally heal. The damage is permanent. Quiting will stop anymore damage from happening.
menthol doesnt have fiberglass, cloves have fiberglass. and i wouldn-t put money down on your lungs healing... but the fact that they are not getting worse is worth quitting.
Damage from smoking is irreversible. If you have severe damage from smoking (emphysema for example), steps can be taken to help manage the disease process, usually a pulmonary rehab center.
It depends on your general health and also on the kind of cigarettes you smoked. American brands of menthol are the worst. The fibre glass stays in the hairs of your lungs forever.
That depends on how long you have been smoking. Most damage to the lungs is permanent. The alveoli in the tissue becomes clogged with tar and can turn into scar tissue over time. The scar tissue is no longer functional in oxygen exchange, so the capacity of the lung is reduced. You can increase you lung capacity a bit by doing cardio and practiced breathing. I think the best thing to open up your lungs and increase your breathing strength is swimming.

I am trying to quit smoking cold turkey. I have been a smoker for 13 years and am ready to quit. I know you usually gain weight in the process but I am already a little over weight and do not need to gain more. Does any one have any suggestions please? Thanks in advance!
If eating may be the issue, eat catabolic foods. This way you still eat to cover up the not smoking but these foods actually burn fat and calories when you eat them.
Drink lots of water, and i would start walking 3 days a week.
Heres a list of catabolic foods that you can eat.
One thing to realize is the effects that each of the additives of those cigarettes have had on your body for 13 years. Now, in your mind, remove them. What do you think your body is going to do? For 13 years, your body has been fighting; it has been at war and it is just about to win! And your mind, if it is one with the body will want to celebrate. Give the best winning party of all time! Give it extra vitamins and minerals and God given herbs and fruits and vegetables. And thank God that you are alive!
Not a good plan you will stress your self out.
My guy smoked longer than you did he first went to a doctor and did the patch with Wellbutrin to take off the edge off the stress.. once he stablized he went to weight watchers for the diet.

How do I quit smoking? -

I really want to quit smoking and have done so a couple of times. Three months was my maximum.
Is there a way I can be successful?
Hi,
If you realy wants to quit smoking then you should know some facts.

This is for your information pl. that Cigarette smoking kills nearly about 420,000 people a year, making it more lethal than AIDS, accidents, homicides, suicides, drug overdoses, and fire.

The main risks of smoking are

1. Heart disease
2. Cancer
3. Dementia and neurologic diseases
4. Lung disease
5. Female infertility and pregnancy
6. Male sexuality and reproduction
7. Behavioural and Social Problems
8. Effects on bones and joints

The methods to quit smoking are

At this time the most effective methods for quitting is a combination of nicotine replacement products and the antidepressant drug bupropion bolstered by counselling.

1. Nicotine replacement

Nicotine replacement products provide low doses of nicotine that do not contain the contaminants found in smoke. They are proving to be twice as helpful as other standard quitting methods. Replacement products include nicotine patches, gums, nasal sprays, and inhalers. Side effects of any nicotine replacement product may include headaches, nausea, and other gastrointestinal problems. People often experience sleeplessness in the first few days, particularly with the patch, but the insomnia usually passes. Patients using very high doses are more likely to experience symptoms, and reducing the dose can prevent them. Certain individuals like people with heart disease, pregnant women, small children may need to avoid nicotine replacement products.

Nicotine patches: Nicotine patches, or transdermal nicotine, can be an effective way to quit smoking. The quit rate for patch users is around 20% after six months. Nicotine patches are available over the counter, but it is best to consult a doctor before using them, particularly people with any medical problems.

Nicotine gum: Nicotine gum (Nicorette), available over the counter, has also been effective for a number of people. Some prefer it to the patch because they can control the nicotine dosage and chewing satisfies the oral urge. Long-term dependence may be a problem with this method.

Nicotine inhaler: The nicotine inhaler resembles a plastic cigarette holder. It comes with a number of nicotine cartridges which are inserted into the inhaler. It has some specific advantages over other slower nicotine replacement products:

Nicotine nasal spray: The nasal spray satisfies immediate cravings by providing doses of nicotine rapidly, and thus may play a useful role in conjunction with slower acting nicotine replacement therapies.

Nicotine tablet: A nicotine tablet that is held under the tongue is also very useful.

2. Alternative and ther Methods for Quitting

Scheduled reduction: One study showed that people who used a systematic withdrawal schedule were twice as likely to quit as those who went cold turkey. The procedure involves the following steps:

Divide the number of minutes per day awake by the number of daily cigarettes; the result is the minute-long wait between smokes.

Set up a schedule with time intervals based on this result and using a timer, smoke only at those intervals; if the -cigarette appointment- is missed by more than five minutes, the smoker must skip that cigarette.

The following week, one-third fewer cigarettes are used and the smoking time is recalculated based on the lower number.

During the third week the count is again reduced by a third, and the smoker quits in the fourth week.
Change daily habits:

Change the daily schedule as much as possible. Eat at different times or eat many small meals instead of three large ones, sit in a different chair, rearrange the furniture.

Find other ways to close a meal. Play a tape or CD, eat a piece of fruit, get up and make a phone call, or take a walk (a good distraction that burns calories as well).

Substitute oral habits (eat celery, chew sugarless gum, suck on a cinnamon stick.) Go to public places and restaurants where smoking is prohibited or restricted.

Set short-term quitting goals and reward yourself when they are met, or every day put the money normally spent on cigarettes in a jar and buy something pleasurable at the end of a predetermined period of time.

Find activities that focus the hands and mind but are not taxing or fattening: computer games, solitaire, knitting, sewing, whittling, crossword puzzles.

Avoid heavy drinking of alcohol, caffeine, or other stimulants or mood altering substances.

Enjoy Life
I smoked for almost 30 years. I just recently stopped (that right-stopped, not quit!) smoking, just over 5 weeks ago now, and this is my first, and hopefully last time that I try. I have looked at hypnosis (I am apparently too strong-minded for that to work on me personally), at laser therapy (no place close enough to me does it to be an option for me-not to mention the initial cost), at cold turkey (ya right, with my addictive personality-please!), and with prescription medication. Can you guess my choice? I have tried the prescription method. I went to my doctor and asked for and received a per for Zyban (the anti-depressant medication), and after a discussion with both my doc and the pharmacist, I have followed the directions given with the per to quit smoking (apparently Zyban works better as a stop-smoking aid than an anti-depressant). Use Zyban for two weeks prior to quit date and smoke the same as always. Quit on the date you have chosen, and for me at least, there have been no PHYSICAL withdrawl symptoms to mention. My body is not having any withdrawl symptoms at all, however now my biggest problem is what to do with all the thoughts of smoking that go through my head every day-you know the ones I mean....I used to smoke after each meal, so my first thought after eating is for a smoke-even caught myself actually getting up to go for a moke a couple times too. Just keep telling yourself that you dont really need tha smoke and it goes away quickly. I also chew lots of gum and other small things like that. I have not gained any weight that I have noticed, and my moods do not seem to have changed (again, not that I have noticed). My girlfriend has also quit at the same time and in the same way-and yes we do live together too. Good luck with your stopping smoking-just be sure to NOT become on of those people that we smokers always hated! ;)
different things work for different people.

my Dad stopped --cold turkey, he said after the 5th month it was not so bad to not smoke

my friend got hypnotized - stopped for 8 months

my Mom-s friends got laser surgery ( on mouth - wrist) - they have stopped for years now

You quit smoking the same way a person makes a million dollars or does anything difficult in life: by having the determination to do what it takes to do it.

Of course, most people don-t make a million dollars because they don-t have the determination it requires.

If you want to stop smoking, then stop smoking. If you don-t stop smoking, then you-ve made the decision that the reward of quitting is not worth the effort required, which is fine, too. But the question is, how bad do you want to quit smoking? Willpower is the only thing that will really help you.

When trying to quit smoking, is it true that you can develop an addiction for the nicotine patch or gum? -

Nictone patches are meant to work and take you off cigarettes and hopefully let the habit go. But, they will not help you completely to quite the nictoine addiction. It is a gradual thing and the dosage is lessened with each patch.

For a while you will still be craving for the cigs but the patches should help you with the craving until you get to a stage where the cravings have dimished to a level and you then make up your mind to totally quit for good.

Stying off smoking is more a pshchological battle than anythign else. Using your mind to quit is really the first thing you should start to do. Without mind control it will be just too difficult to quit for good and in no time you will be back to smoking and puffing those white devils.

Goodluck!
yes its true... you-re still filling the nicotene addiction with patches and gum but but thats just the physical addiction. The patches and gum don-t have the same mental addiction. Slapping on a patch or chewing gum doesn-t have that same feel-good feeling as lighting up when you-re socializing or having a drink etc. Plus it-s also expensive lol. It-s much better to quit with assistance than to not quit at all and at least you-re not getting all the other additives that cigarettes have and there is a ween down system with patches and gum.
If you-re trying to quit... best of luck to you... you wont regret it.
It-s just nicotine. Nicotine is in cigarettes. So you-re already addicted. It-s just easier to cut down on the gum and patches, because of the nicotine released.

What is the best way to quit smoking cheap? -

Me and my husband both want to quit smoking. We don-t have alot of money so patches and stuff won-t work for us. Should we try to quit cold turkey or reduce daily?
I smoked for 17 years. Me and my boyfriend both quit cold turkey together. And now after 3 years now we are still both smoke free. I wish you and hubby all the best and always remember it can be done!!!! GOOD LUCK!!
The cheapest way... start with a joke first:

A boyfriend of a girlfriend were courting... the girl looks cool... especially when she smokes... looks elegant... really... you know the cool look...

They held hands for 3 months, got to know each other very well... their relation progressed to second stage... kissing...

But they broke off... quite immediately when they started kissing...
The boyfriend said when kissing her, he felt like licking an sah tray...

Believe me... I am a smoker. did know how it smell... till I really smell it... its horrible! try smelling an ash tray when u wnat to smoke... it helps.
I gave up smoking 2 years ago after 39 years I was lucky that the patches worked for me My brother has used hypnotherapy and 3 days short of 12 months he took it back up again very disappointed we are I know how hard it is for people to give it up but you really need to want to give it up as well
I didnt give it up for health reasons my health has not changed it was the money side of it for me tired of the goverment getting the taxes and the non smokers saying the smoker never paid their way
anyway I wish you all the luck if you can give it up cold turkey but please do try it will be healthier on your hip pocket in the long run good luck
Cold turkey and neutral corners.
Cold Turkey
Do research on the internet, library, web md, etc., on lung cancer and look at a lung that has been damaged by smoke. Ugggghhhh

that should make you quit!

Hi. I need to quit smoking - promised my girlfriend 10 months ago? -

she is fed-up, will probably leave me - help, I need to quit smoking... mostly for myself

thanks so much
Do yoga of shri ramdevji or Art of living of shri Ravishankar
why does she want you to quit smoking-? because of the smell, your health, the cost? If its the smell camel makes cigarettes that are ash less and don-t really have the smell. If its not that your going to need a lot off baby carrots to have some thing in your mouth. there are patches, gums, even medication that will reduce your want to smoke. Be very careful when you stop to watch you weight , you will eat more do to make up for the smoking hints the baby carrots and or gum.
i used to smoke 35 fags a day then one day i saw an advert about the harm full affects of smoking so i decided too give up for my children and myself. The only way you can give up is to be one hundred percent ready and commit ed too do it. Will power is good just take it one day at a time and be strong you can do it im sure you can. good luck and best wishes.
Wow, talk about pressure!

Start NOW by throwing your cigarettes in the garbage.

Keep a jar by the door. Every time you get an urge to go buy a pack of cigarettes, instead put the money in that jar.

Start keeping a pack of gum with you so you-ll have something to put in your mouth.

Take up a hobby or perhaps a gym membership to keep your mind busy.

Start cleaning the house, top to bottom. You-ll need to get the smell and tar out- and believe me, it is strong.

I used to clean house for people who were heavy smokers. Sometimes I would have to clean their windows three and four times before my cleaning rag would stop coming away brown.

A lot of people don-t like to think about that- but that-s what a smoker is deliberately pulling into their lungs.

Good luck!
giving up is hard. there are many things that will help. gum, nasal spray, patches, tablets, hypnotherapy, inhalers but you need to chat to your pharmacist to see what suits your habit. best of luck with that. also if you stop you will likely gain some weight so be prepared for that.
Hey soon to be non-smoker,
I smoked for thirty three years and the last fifteen I smoked 3 packs a day. I quit May 9,2006. Have not smoked since . COLD TURKEY. Everytime the urge came I told myself the urge will pass. The first week the urges are faster and tough. But after that it becomes a lot easier. This really works.
YOU HAVE TO WANT TO REALLY QUIT AND YOU HAVE TO DO IT FOR YOURSELF!!!!!!
THE URGE WILL PASS!!!THE URGE WILL PASS!!!THE URGE WILL PASS!!!
THE URGE WILL PASS!!!
Good Luck!
THE URGE WILL,IT WILL PASS!!!!!
Goodluck! You can do it!
stop buying cigs. if you don-t have them you can-t smoke. mind over matter.
Good for u, but the only way quitting will be successful is that u have to want to quit. I quit 10 months ago by using the new drug Chantix. It is prescription only. See your doctor and discuss this method. It worked for me!! I layed them down on the 7th day after starting the medicine. Good Luck!!!
educate yourself. understand that you will always have the temptation to smoke. you can-t beat them so to speak. i recommend welbutrin to help with the start of the quiting process. you like to smoke but remember all the consequences if you do. know that the average person tries to quit a billion times before being successful. dont be hard on yourself if you fail. after three days it is 100% mental and the hardest part. use gum, candy and always recognize hand to mouth habits and the situation you are in. know why you smoke, hot boxing and long drags are different reasons for the moment. sugar rushes and caffiene, i believe, can help with those moments. so join a gym too.
Use some other form of oral fixation like lollipops or gum. Every time you have the urge to smoke, brush your teeth.

I hope you quit.
I quite smoking 8 years ago. Trust me get a new girlfiend it will be 100 times easier.
On a serious note thou their are no short cuts its all will power. Just focus on the positive good rather on ,this is my last cigererte.. Try an not to get to hammered as that will get you started again every time.
Good luck. because it is difficult but not impossible.
nicitine gums, the patch, and they even developed a perscription pill but most important prepare your brain and stick to it. The nicitine withdrawels will disappear faster than the thought or habit of behavior. Replace smoking with staying active when you get a craving. But talk to your Dr. about what product would work best for you, GOOD LUCK !!!! And GOOD FOR YOU!!!! Do it for yourself, not just your girlfriend. The benefits will last a lifetime!!!!!!
get some patchs and some gum and get some guts and will power and do ti
I know people hate when someone suggests that they take medication as a first resort, but I have heard very good things about Chantix if you are truly addicted to nicotine. I am a part-time smoker myself (I will smoke when out, but not in my home, etc.) However, when I went to the doctor to get medication, he told me that social smoking wouldn-t be helped by medication, and I just need to avoid places that I would do it for at least two weeks (and better if longer) such as bars or my brother-s house (where he and his wife smoke).

It-s hard. I quite once in law school for several years, and you never stop wanting them, but it gets easier to not have them over time.

Good luck!
thats not really a question but ill say whats on my mind! i think that shes totally right and you would be the best boy friend to quit for her youre awesome!
go to the doctor theres medicene to help you to stop smoking
and if you love her alot you-ll stop

good luck
Just start chewing gum all the time that always helps it stopped my grandma, girlfriend, and dad stop smoking
Get a big bag of carrots (baby are best) and some cellery (with PB is good). Eat them every time you feel like a cigarette. That will help with the oral component.
As for the rest, drink lots of tea and water, take an asparin to help with headache (or Ibuprofin), exercise and do things to keep you busy for the first two weeks.
Then it will be over, your girlfreind you love won-t leave you, and you won-t die an early death in a hospital, getting your lungs cut out, getting chemo and radiation and choking on blood clots and pieces of your lungs you are couphing up when you are 40!!!!
(PS: Every time you feel like a cigarette she has to give you a *******, that-s the rule).
I went for laser treatment over 2 1/2 years ago and am still off them. I really wanted to stop and have never looked back. Saved a fortune and done loads with the cash. Try the link:

EDIT: Just been reading some of the other replies. Smoking is an ADDICTION and it is NOT that easy to quit. How many of you with the -get some guts- theme are/were smokers? Try telling that to a heroin addict - and apparently nicotine is a worse addiction than THAT!
So quit! I went from almost two packs a day to zip! It takes will power and you might want to have tic tacs or life savers or something to put in your mouth when you want a smoke.

Keep busy! This is very important. Keeping busy and the mind occupied will allow you to help handle the cravings. I just worked seven days a week and kept busy even after work. it did work. Yes the candies are going to cost, but less than smokes (well around here anyways).

It will be hard at times and avoid the bars or where people are smoking for a little while at first. Temptation can be very hard to overcome. But you do need the woillpower to do otherwise it-s not going to work out.

Many go for the patch or nicorette gum or some other aid and for some it helps as it reduces the cravings. Try and see, but force yourself to not light up.

good luck.

Is quitting smoking worth all the trouble? -

I would like to quit smoking but i hate having a -need- for cigarettes. It is not just the nicotine it is the habit itself. Is it worth all the trouble to stop?
I quit 6 weeks ago. Although I still struggle with it, it hasn-t been anything I can-t handle. Benefits though, I can breathe better, I don-t smell like smoke, food tastes sooo much better, and I don-t have to worry about when I can go smoke again.
well...depends if you value your life. lol
If you can-t control your self to quit smoking well then what can you do? Smoking is stupid, I guess if you wanna die earlier no there isn-t a need to quit.
It-s a good habit to stop, but it is really hard..it may take up to 6 weeks or more for you to fully recover and quit.

Medroxyprogesterone-if I quit smoking right before I take the first dose-will this lower risk of blood clots? -

Medroxyprogesterone-if I quit smoking right before I take the first dose-will this lower risk of blood clots? -

I have just been prescribed medroxyprogesterone to jump start ovulation since it has not happened for almost 4 months now.
I am not pregnant. I have taken many blood tests which showed up normal. (FSH,LH, Thyroid and Prolactin). I had an ultrasound and it was revealed to me that I have a cyst on my right ovary. I have not had a period for 4 months.
I am 25 yrs old and have been smoking on and off for around 6 years.
The warning for taking medroxyprogesterone is that in some occasions, serious side effects were blood clots (in the lungs as well as the legs, etc) and smokers have a higher risk of blood clots from taking this medicine.
I have been prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg to take 1 once a day for 10 days.
My question is:

If I quit smoking the day before I take my first pill and all the way throughout the treatment, which is 10 days long. Will it lower my risk of having a blood clot, or does the risk stay the same since I have already been smoking for 6 years?
Your not going to be able to stop in 1 day.
