How do I Quit smoking, when its this difficult? -
I have been wearing the patch for three days, today I stopped wearing it because it didn-t seem to make a difference. My whole body aches, I feel dizzy, and when I wear the patch I-m constantly tired and have wierd dreams. Everyone keeps acting like its not that serious. Has anyone had as difficult of a time as me, how do I make the pain lessen and quit? Please don-t act like its not hard, it is for me.
hi jdude..
your absolutly right quitting smoking is seldom easy.. in fact tobacco is among the most addictive substances known.. i have found that for me it took several attempts before i was able to quit.. so give yourself a break, there are people who have -been there and dont that..
the good news is that its doable, however you choose to do it.. i smoked for over 40, and have been nicotine free for over 5 years now..after a number of failed quits i tried joining a support group.. i attend nicotine anonymous meetings both locally, and online.. meetings are as close as your computer..good luck with your quit, as there is really no wrong way to do it..
Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Regardless of why you may be feeling down or depressed while you’re trying to quit smoking, it’s important to be aware of your feelings and pay attention to them. This is where a smoking clinic or rehabilitation center might come in handy. For some, they need the support of others who are either going through the same things as they are or who have already been there.
smoking is the hardest thing to stop for some people. my husband is now on his 4th time quiting, if you have a health plan, talk to your doctor, they have classes to help with this. don-t stop the patch it releases nicotine that will help w/the intense cravings but i know it doesn-t seem to work but it does. there is a drug called bupropion that you can take along w/the patch that helps also. you are fighting an addiction and it takes time and a lot of inner strength to deal with it. find out what make you want to smoke (w/my husband it was stress) is it stress, boredom, peer pressure?
go to smoke free.gov and it may help. just be strong and if you slip up and smoke don-t let it defeat you just keep trying. it also helps to find a friend or love one to be your support person to help you. someone who can talk you out of taking that puff. it gets better with time. take one day at a time.
good luck - don-t give up!
I would recommend you try swedish snus.
It-s like snuf..but without the health hazards, no smoke, no tar, no bad juice (you can actually swallow it)...PLUS
It gives you nicotine. Different varieties have different amounts of nicotine so if you need to up the dose you can.
This way you :
Quit smoking..so no tar, smell, etc..
but you can gently quit the nicotine need.
I think they have nicotine gum for it, but you can use regular gum. It won-t help the temptation but it-ll keep you form automatically reaching for a cigarette.
Perhaps you can find some useful information in
