For people who have quit smoking: What method did you use to quit smoking? -
how many trys did it take you? thankyou
hi johnbb..
i smoked for over 40 years... the last 5 or so of those, consisted of one failed quit attempt after another.. in that time i used patches pills, and a variety of herbal products.. mostly couldn-t quit, or smoked again, almost immediately.. I did however keep trying, as my health was fading..
the good news of course is, that I did find a way to quit..i have been nicotine free for over 5 years now..ultimately the thing that worked for me was the realization that i couldn-t do it alone.. I joined a support group.. together, we do things, that none of us could alone.. I attend Nicotine Anonymous meetings both locally and on line.. on line meetings are as close as your computer...however you decide to quit good luck, there is simply no wrong way to quit!!
Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.
Try and fill the void with something else that you enjoy doing but that isn-t as harmful to your health...
Either that or simple go cold turkey
