What is the best way to quit smoking? -

ok err i-m rather stupid but mehh,
i am 16, i smoke and i want to quit.
so i need sugestions on how to quit
Perhaps you can find some useful information in
http://www.quitnow.info.au
.
To quit smoking, you can do the following things:

Write down the reasons why you smoke.

Know in which situations you like to smoke best.

You should know these situations very well (for example, when you are having a good time) and start to think of a solution for how you want to deal with that situation. More.

* Determine the day you will stop. That can be tomorrow, but you can also wait for a more favourable moment.
* Tell the people around you that you are going to quit. Possibly with somebody else.
* Take away everything that reminds you of smoking.
* Stop radically; it gives you the best chance of success.
* Change your eating and drinking habits. Drink a lot of water, eat a lot of fresh fruit and be aware of -pleasure drinks- like coffee, tea and alcohol.
* Take care of enough physical relaxation. Go for a walk or a ride or go swimming.
* Reward yourself. Do nice things or give yourself something, like a cd or clothes.
* If you fall back, don-t give up. Find out in what situation it happened and try to find out with what (alternative) behaviour you can react in the future. If you manage to come through the same situation next time, you have become stronger.

The desire to smoke is one of the first things you notice when you stop smoking. Such a moment lasts a few minutes. It comes, stays for a while and then goes. If you have stopped smoking recently, you will have that desire more often than after a few weeks. After a while, the periods between -wanting to smoke- get longer and longer. Ultimately, the desire to smoke diminishes. Nicotine patches, self-help books and your doctor can help you to stop smoking. Also, health care centres usually have special -quit smoking- programs.
Cut off your source of cigarettes. If you use a fake ID to buy them outside, destroy it. If you regularly associate with people who smoke, you might need to stop seeing them for a while, if that-s not possible, explain ot them that you-re trying ot quit and ask if they could not smoke around you, not offering you cigarettes and not giving them to you if you ask should go without saying. While being able to quit on your own without outside help is great and all, getting other people you know to help keep you clear of them won-t kill you.
Get a tin can, like an old coffee can or and empty soup can and stick cigarettes in there that you have smoked recently. Put some water in the can also. Close the can with a tight seal. Every time you get the urge to smoke, take a whiff of the can. The smell should make you nauseous and you-ll eventually associate smoking a cigarette with that gross smell of old cigarettes in water. Good luck!
get the patch, it worked for me, but follow these simple directions instead of the ones on the box,
1) remember that the patch only really needs to be changed every two days, not daily, the chemicals continue to delover a dose of nicotine on the second day as well, they just don-t want you to know that because they sell more patches that way,
2) on the second wee, don-t buy the #2 or #3 patches, just buy the #1-s and cut them in half, this gives you a two week supply of weaker patches.
3) continue to cut them in half each week and soon you will have quit and weaned yourself off the nicotine dependency.

I quit 4 years ago, and never went back.
I got a taste of smoking due to curiosity when i was 14 while i was on a vacation job with my smoking friends. it came to a stop when we part our ways after a month. ever since till now (i-m 36) i never pick a cigarette again (except i dream i smoke and what a shivering nightmare, i am glad its just a dream).

i would suggest that you get yourself preoccupied with some other meaningful activities and whatever they are, its important to strike a balance. its better to save your smoking $$ in the bank, and keep a good sheet of health. good luck and you can quit it.
Forget will Power..........

Use your common sense ............
Smoking is a slow painful killer. It takes years to develop
but it can-t be cured.

* About 33% of male adult global population smokes.
* Time cut down from one’s lifespan is approximately equal to the time indulged in smoking.
* Every minute, seven people die of tobacco use.
* 49 known carcinogenic compounds and 4000 other toxins constitute a single cigarette.
* More than 90 % of lung cancer deaths are due to cigarette smoking.
* The cost that smokers impose on US economy is more than $150 billion a year.
look man it-s all in your head.
you have to be able to quit mentally before you can give it up. just dont be a pu**y about it!
put down the cigarette or blunt and just chill on things for a while.
and pick up a hobby.
play guitar its fun and entertaining
plus girls love guitars
and drink water every time you crave it or chew gum
it-s all about how strong your will power is
just dont give in and stay away from other smokers
that-s what gets me most of the time.
if you want to quit each time you want to have a stogy just do something to hurt your self and eventually you won-t even want to pick up a smoke
nicotine patches. or nicorette gum.
cold turkey
