What are tips to quit smoking...? -

Im ready to QUIT this nasty habit!!!!!
Ive been a heavy smoker for 15 years, and tried MANY times to quit--never could.
Ideas and suggestions -FROM PRIOR SMOKERS ONLY- appreciated!!! (sorry, non smokers have absolutely NO idea how hard it is!!)

PS lectures not welcome here!
THANKS =)
I smoked around 20 fags a day for 25 years and given up using the new wonder drug from GP called Champix, been off them 5 months now, the stuff is serioulsy good (you still think of fags 20 times a day, you just don-t climb the wall wanting one), also the champix has stopped me craving sweet stuff so not gained any weight and the money I save ...... pays for one hour a week with a personal trainer I have tried every method there is and nothing worked until this, best of luck xxx (it is SO SO worth it)
GreenSmoke is the superior electronic cigarette choice. There are many e-cigs out there trying to take advantage of the huge wave of consumers moving over to electronic cigarettes. Don-t be caught in the net of those who are offering a inferior product at a cheaper price.

This will keep you motivated throughout. My friend was chain smoker and he quit. He use to say, just be mentally strong and you can do it. Here are some tips that helped him:

Don-t Buy any.
Keep busy with a toothpick or something else.
Try the gum/patch for intense cravings.
Add up the money you-re saving by not spending on smokes/extra dry cleaning.
Don-t ask for some from others. Avoid situations where all you-ll do is want to smoke.
Reach out to Quit groups in town; you-re not alone.

You can read a lot of -FROM PRIOR SMOKERS ONLY- success stories here and it should give you a good idea what youre going to go through when trying to quit

Good luck
Keep your mouth busy by sucking on lollipops when you-re inside the house and chewing gum when you-re outside.
hey AlwayzStayz

you are so right about non smokers not understanding.. there-s a conception going around, that its simply a filthy habit.. actually tobacco is among the most addictive substances known to man..

I smoked for over 40 years, the last 5 of which, were one failed attempt, after another to quit.. Tried cold turkey, the nicotine replacement therapies, and the pharmaceuticals.. always ended up picking up..

The good news is, that i found a way, that worked for me, and have been nicotine free ,for over 5 years now..that was the use of a support group.. I attend Nicotine Anonymous meetings locally, and on line.. the support of other quitters, along with the experience of older members, was just what i needed.. On line voice meetings are as close as your computer!! However you decide to proceed, good luck my friend, in the end there is no wrong way to quit!!

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives.
