What is the best program to follow to quit smoking? -

I am not able to use nicotine aids due to medical reasons. Does anyone have a natural remedy for quitting smoking?
Chantix (prescription) worked great for me -- heavy smoker
for more than 45 years -- check with your Doctor, it isn-t a
patch and may work for you too.
I was a smoker for 25 years and I had quit smoking for over six times ,but never really quit smoking before.Just after I read that quit smoking program, I realized how easy quitting smoking was.I am a non-smoker now! I highly recommend this program to you.It really works. You can check out
http://quit-smoking-in-3-hours.info

Good luck!
laser works 90% of the time this is a great way to do it without meds. Worked for me.Good Luck.
Simply put--willpower. I stopped smoking because I felt like crap and looked even worse, like crap cooked twice. That was motivation enough.
Find a girl (or boy) who likes you but hates smoking.

My girlfriend at the time gave me a choice between sex and cigarettes.

I may have been hooked, but I was certainly no fool.
WILL POWER

ITS HARD BUT BETTER THAN FILLING YOUR BODY WITH OTHER S**T,IVE BEEN STOPPED FOR FOUR MONTHS NOW ,YOU THINK ITS HARD BUT IT GETS EASIER

How long after you quit smoking do you have regular cravings for? -

I-m quitting smoking. Its been 2 days now and I-ve heard that-s how long it takes to detox from nicotine. How long until the regular cravings subside?
First of all Congratulations for Quitting. You have no idea how big a favor you did to yourself.

Detox is a term that refers to the removal of all your toxins from your lungs, brain, throat, etc. The detoxification takes a very long time naturally. So let me answer this question in two parts:

1. How long until your regular cravings subside?
The answer to this question depends on how long have you been smoking, how much did you smoke, and what is the reason for you to quit.

That-s right. Your reason to quit plays an important role in determining how much you crave nicotine. If you quit smoking with the awareness of what cigarette smoking was doing to you (like in this video:
http://www.how-to-quit-cigarettes.com/ef…
) then you would not take the craving as a craving, rather take it as a challenge that you must overcome to live a healthy life.

Craving is strongest on day 1 and then it starts subsiding and goes away totally within 10 - 14 days. However some people have felt cravings till the 21st day.

2. How much time does it take for your body to detox from smoking?
- 20 Minutes after you quit smoking your blood pressure and heart rate drops.
- 12 hours after you stop smoking your carbon monoxide levels in your blood drops.
- 2 weeks after you stop smoking your lung function starts getting better and your stamina starts increasing.
- It will take 1 to 9 months before your cough totally goes away.
- After one year of quitting cigarettes your risk of heart disease reduces (this means your heart clears most of the toxins within one year)
- 5 years after you quit smoking your risk of stroke decreases (so it does take up to a few years before your blood and brain clear of toxins)
- 10 years after your quit smoking your risk of lung cancer is reduced to 50%.

This is because the tar and other material desposited on your lungs are cancerous in nature and can affect you even years after you quit smoking. So it is important for you to start your lung detoxification exercises to accelerate lung cleansing.
WELL DONE!
I-ve heard 14 days to completely detox, and get over the physical addiction to nicotine and around 21 days to get out of the habit.

Changing your routine is great, then you aren-t doing the things you are used to do with a cigarette.

If you tended to hang out in one room and smoke in your house hang out in a different room. Even moving you furniture around could help.

Saving the money you used to spend (would be spending) on cigarettes and spending it to spoil yourself instead is a good extra bit of motivation!

Whitening your teeth can be great motivation too. Getting rid of any dinginess the cigarettes caused.

Running is great your lungs will yell at you for having ever started in the first place and you will be able to feel them clearing out and getting healthier. Also this would prevent the initial weight gain that often drives smokers back to cigarettes.

My mom quit years ago by dumping the butt and ashes from her last stinky ash tray into a zipper bag and adding a little water. She hid this in a pocket of her purse and whenever she really really wanted a cigarette she would get the disgusting thing out and look at it. If she STILL wanted one she would unzip the bag and SMELL it! The smell was so horrible and totally killed the urge.
She carried this around for about a year. That was about 15 years ago and She has never started smoking again!

I really hope this helps!
You can do it!
Congrats on the great decision. Hooray You!
Congrats, keep up the good work! The info that I have says that it takes about two weeks for the cravings to stop. In the meantime when they occur use deep breathing, gum, drink water, take a walk, carrot sticks sugar free mints also help. The cravings only last about 20 seconds and should get lighter as time goes by. Some information that I have read says that it takes about 36 hours to get the nicotine out of our system, So good luck!
I think a lot depends on what you class as cravings. I have quit several times and never really had cravings a such, just more of a mental thing becuase I used to get away from my desk by having a fag and that was the hardest thing to break.

I got help from http://www.easytoquit.co.uk in the end and I ahve been quit for 9 months now
I started using these and have not had a cigg in just over 3 months. SAFE - no carcinogens, tar or other chemicals because the smoke is water vapor (H2O). It-s working wonders for me and about 7 of my friends. I-ve been smoking for about 10-12 years and after smoking these i can honestly say i have more energy and I feel great. I can still smoke without worrying about my health. It-s a WIN WIN.

Jay R
as like all those who have done this CONGRATS , but there is bad news also , some never get over the cravings ,I have found myself holding pen-s just like I would a cig , after 5 years and sometimes i feel like I need one so bad ,, but just work through it it is a part of your body (mind ) tricking you back to the Habit ,,,
Well done luv! My main craving was food - candy, junk food, everything! I gaines 40lbs but now keep it way under control and have lost the 40lbs and more and the cravings with http://youcanquit.notlong.com

hi khamid M

I smoked for over 40 years, have now been quit for over 5 years..what worked for me was getting involved in a support group... I am a member of Nicotine anonymous.. I attend meetings both locally and on line.. on line voice meetings are as close as your computer!! you are welcome to attend meetings while still smoking..

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.
Maybe try:

-Cigana is a healthier alternative to smoking. While regular cigarettes contain tobacco and 4000+ carcinogens, Cigana contains just nicotine. Cigana looks and feels like a regular cigarette, provides the nicotine that smokers crave, without the harmful, cancer-causing toxins, ashes, smells or second hand smoke.-
My spouse and I used Chantix. It-s a Rx that you must get from your Doctor. It worked, and we have been smoke free for almost three years. Combined we smoked for approx. 60 years. We weren-t cross with each other or anyone else. It Worked!
Start taking hard drugs like heroin or crystal meth you will then have a heavy addiction to them and will not care about smoking

I am trying to quit smoking Please Help!? -

I-ve been smoking on and off for about 12 years now. I-m tierd of what smoking is doing to me. I need some advice on how you may have kicked the habit. I-ve tried patches the irritate my skin, I-ve tried the quit now line (didn-t work). I-ve tried cold turkey only to go back and start again. Please Help.
Listen, you need a lot of will power to just stop smoking. The other method is to replace smoking with a positive activity, but you have to be so into the activity, so you can forget about smoking forever. In most cases that not an effective strategy. I found out that there is a smoker-s card that reduced the amount of toxins that cigarettes emit. All you have to do is to purchase the card, place it onto the cigarette pack and it will help you gradually quit smoking. Just Google HuashenUSA and there should be more information about it.
Replace your smoking habit with another, positive habit.
I think it is good that you are thinking of quitting after 6 months,,,, I wish you all the best. Imagine the possibilities of not smoking. You get to save lots of money and your health.. Imagine the money you put aside especially if you are a pack-a-day smoker... you can pay installments for a very decent second hand car.

I have not smoked for 3 days now and dont have the urge to either. Its all about mind control.
well i know how you feel. asked god to help you. i smoke once at 13. and i quit.
If you don-t buy cigarettes it-s hard to smoke. When you quit smoking you have to change your routine. Example if you wake up and have coffee - a cigarette then you can still have coffee just have a slice of toast with it. When you are done. Start doing dishes- It is hard to smoke when your-e hands are in water.
Basically it is mind over matter by retraining your thinking that I have to keep busy and before you know it you can forget about the cigarette. I know you are thinking I have to have one- Well have one then wait a longer period until you have another and so on. SJ
Well...My Aunt had been smoking for like 12 year too!! BUt she took out her cigerate box and replaced it with a rasion box and every time she went for a cigerete she would eat a rasion but she always kept 1 pack in case she realy realy needed it!
Maybe try smoking something non-addictive to replace your habit...then eventually just drop the non-addictive habit.
I highly recommend this book: -Allen Carr-s Easy Way To Stop Smoking-

He clearly differentiates the physical withdrawal symptoms from the psychological ones. The physical withdrawal is actually only a feeling of mild emptiness, somewhat like hunger. The real challenge is dealing with the psychological aspects of going without the cigarette. But once this part of quitting is clearly understood, it becomes much easier, and can even be enjoyable as he says. The author is an ex smoker himself who has a very clear understanding of the truth about smoking, and how to quit. And he has a very rational approach, no unnecessary scare tactics. His method is said to have helped millions quit.

Best of luck.
Nicocure to quit smoking In just 30 days or less, you will finally quit smoking and blow smoke away, and on your way back to better overall health. http://Quit-Smoking.ze.cx
Perhaps you could join a Quit Smoking Clinic.

How many of you out there have quit smoking? -

any advice to someone who is on there 4th day?
u shudnt start smoking in the 1st place x
Packed up in May 2005 put on 2 stone lost 5 teeth eating to many sweets feel miserable, other than my breathing is better I feel like siht, if they made a snout that didn-t give you lung cancer and it cost £10 for 20, I would start again to morrow, also if i new then what i know now I-m not sure i would bother
I love smoking....but if u have managed to quit, well done and keep it up x
not me will stop when i want to not when they tell me its my only vice haha
Hi well i am on day 44 now and although it has become easier i still have a few difficult times, the cravings dont really go they just get easier to handle.
I have tried all the patches and gums etc in the past but they just did not work for me so this time i just went cold turkey i have been going to bed early because i find the evenings really hard drinking water when the cravings get really bad and reminding myself that actually the craving only lasts a few minutes then it passes. I think the most important thing is having the right frame of mind you must really want to give up and be ready to give up, try to avoid places where you know u will be tempted for the first couple of weeks, be proud of each day because it is an achievment, good luck.
start a new habit like writing a poem everytime you want to smoke
all i can say is well done, its definatley the hardest thing to do , but be strong, clean the house , do something to keep you busy, i have stopped smoking 6 weeks ago..not easy as my husband smokes, but just remember how much better you are going to feel in a few weeks...i felt like great for the first few days, all fresh in my mind of what i was doing, now into my sixth week the cravings are going its just the habit of not reaching for a cigarette thats still there...be strong , believe in yourself that you can do it ...and amazingly you will feel better..try the patches if you are struggling they do help or inhulator just to get the feeling of holding that cigarette...
good luck :)
Yep. 19 years ago. I had the acupuncture thing done by a clinic - I don-t know if that-s what did it - but something worked. On the 4th day - it-s hard hard to do. But just remember - smokers smell like pee. And get wrinks around their lips.
I have smoked off and on since I was 13. I have been smoke free this time for 7 years. I remember how hard it was! Especially when EVERYONE that I worked with and most of my friends smoked.

Sometimes I still miss it, until I pass a smoker. Now I realize how bad I used to smell and the damage I was doing to my body and face. Mostly when I have a drink. They seem to go hand in hand. No pun intended.

I wish you the best. It-s hard. I quit cold turkey each time.
ITS BEEN 2 YEARS NOW BUT ON THE 4TH DAY YOU JUST HAVE TO HANG IN THERE AS EACH DAY IT GETS BETTER.
Just dont give in, most cravings last 15 minutes so everytime you have one do something to keep your mind busy until its gone. other than that all I can say is use will power as long as you can. Good luck, choosing to quit is a very smart choice and I hope you can do it. the 4th day is supposed to be the hardest
I smoked 20/30 every day for 28 years then decided id had enough ...3 and a half years now and still going strong!
Best advise i can give is use a patch and keep away from people who smoke as much as possible until your really over the worse.
I think there are 2 types of smokers...addicts and enjoyers decide which you are and then take the appropriate alternatives...you-ve got to reallllly want to give up and not want to put another ciggy in your gob again if you cant hand on heart say -I-m bored of smoking and had enough- then you don-t stand a chance to be honest.
I gave up on the night my other half invited 8 smokers round the house for the whole weekend without telling me...talk about torture!
You will be amazed at the difference when you do quit...the smell of smoke now is disgusting to me and lets just say my partners friends don-t smoke in my home any more!
Good luck with this...just remember if you don-t succeed then try again when your ready as many times as you need to before it works for you.
We are all different and all have different ways of giving up the dreaded weed, i gave up almost 3 years ago now i smoked between 25 and 30 a day and that was for 30 years
My reason for giving up was that i had to go in to hospital and thought well this is a good time as i won-t have the option to smoke so i went to my GP before i went in to hospital and got patches and they did help , i also kept a packet of cigs although i never had one and it helped .
I got through loads of packets of polo mints at first but i am off those now.

There is a lot of help out there now for people wanting to pack up smoking, its not easy and i admire anyone that is doing it right now or have done it in the past.
Just think of the cost of them!.
And since packing up i never realised how awfully i must have smelt to a non smoker .
Well done to you on your 4th day, it does get easier and i wish you all the best!
Make a long detailed list of all the reasons, even the stupid ones, you want to quit and each time you have a craving, get out the list and read it aloud. Intense cravings only last a few minutes and by the time you-ve finished your list, it-s passed.
The 29th of July was 4 months for me...It wasn-t that hard because I moved to another state and wasn-t around other smokers...chew some nicotine gum for the first few days and do a lot of cardio...don-t let those stupid little sticks beat you...If you need some encouragement...email me...I-ll talk you through it...
i have been packed up for almost 3 weeks, and it is still like the first day to me, if you fancy a smoke go stand next to a person who has just put out a cig and take a deep breathe the smell alone should put you of a smoke thats what i do if i fance one, go sit next to the smoking area at work.
i-ve tried to quit, but its very hard for me right now. the longest ive gone was 5 days. im gonna keep trying...
I gave up 10 years ago, after being a smoker for 16 years.

it-s hard to give up, but it is achievable! try and find things to take your mind off cigarettes, and at these early stages in trying to quit, it-s the hardest time.

The trick to successfully giving up is actually wanting to do it, if you are just giving up because you think you should you may struggle, but if you REALLY want to you can do it, give yourself rewards for making certain dates, like treat yourself to your favourite sweet or something when you-ve gone a week without one, and something else after a month. etc.
I have 5 months ago now. I had smoked for 20 years and used to go thrugh 20+ a day.
I was lucky though..I fell pregnant and went off the smell and taste so I was able to give up with no support at all.
In fact, I wish I could bottle how I feel about it, I-d make a fortune lol.
All I can say is well done..keep occupied.
You will feel and smell much better for it!!!!
No way. I dont want to and I enjoy it very much. I dont want to be 98 and sharing a care home with the miserable anti smoking b@stards anyway.

It is my human right to do whatever I want to to my own body so fvck off anyone who thinks otherwise

Yeah fvck you im loving it! (i really hope my smoking shortens your life span, you all deserve it)
Say to yourself -just for today i won-t smoke- when you wake up and throughout the day. Say it again when you wake up. This takes it one day at a time and fools your brain into not thinking its forever.
Just resolve each day.

Have you read Allen Carrs book?
yeah it is easy i just stopped buying them.how many a day u smoke. i smoked one every day
Yeah me 4 years now, my only advice is stick with it you will feel so much better i know its hard but use the products available and you will smell sooo much better its only when you stop you realise just how bad you used to smell especially when you stand next to some one who-s just had a fag sorry forgot it was a PC word i meant cigarette
One and a half months ago...You just have to keep busy.
smoking is for losers. i never smoke and never will!!!!!!

Im trying to quit smoking. What can I do to keep from feeling anxious and depressed? -

I quit smoking ages ago. I moved onto cigars then eventually stopped. Exercise is very good for taking your mind off smoking. Avoid going into bars where there are smokers. The health benefits are a bonus and of course, your clothes won-t smell discusting either. Failing that, try handcuffs!
it is hard to quit when i did i had a lot of internal discussions i hope you have a lot of support the makes it easier
Get a doctor to give you either Zyban or Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin was what my husband used 10 years ago to stop and his brother is using Zyban and has been smoke free for over 2 months now. Has no cravings at all for cigarettes.
get a girlfriend, but it-s risky. either you lose it for life or more packs a day
The gums worked for me. Also try a homeopathic stress remedy to get you through. If you can get them, try Kalms or Rescue Remedy. It gets better after about 2 weeks. I used the gums for a year though.
excercise
This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quite smoking 2 years ago

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

Medical Endorsements

A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health

“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”

Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees

“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”

Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital

“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”

Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong

“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”

Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London

”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”

Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP

“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”

Celebrity Endorsements

-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson

“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

GOOD LUCK!
see a therapist ;)
I tried to quit for years and finally eased off and did quit with nicorette gum...I cut out some ciggies and had gum instead, then went on to not smoking in more places, like my car...have gum there instead. It does feel like losing a friend because the cigs are always there for you...but it-s worth it.
Quitting smoking is extremely difficult. The withdrawl makes us not want to, but we know the risks and we know that they are not worth it. For anyone who wants to end their nicotine addiction, check out www.stopsmokingcleveland.com. This is the MOST effective method on the market. It is 86% effective and the details of the program are on the website (no signing up or submitting your information).

I tried this program and it changed my life. I-ve tried ACS, patches, gum, hypnosis, accupuncture. I-ve done them all.
P.S. Allen Carr is only 20% effective.

I have terrible will power, but I would like to quit. It-s harder cause all my friends smoke, so I-m surrounded by it. Anyone have any tips on quitting.
go out one night where its very smokey! go home at put these clothes in a carrier bag or bin liner and close it...then in a couple of weeks when you really want one go open the bag and sniff! You wont wanna smoke again! :)
macular degeneration.....you lose your eyesight....smoking is a major cause of this....also lung cancer...if you get it you should go and arrange your funeral....is that enough reason to quit.....
Theres a wonderful new drug on the market called Chantix that really stops the craving for cigarettes. Talk to your doc
The Lord told me, -3 deep breaths- and it worked. Whe you feel the urge, take a deep breath filling your whole chest then slowly let it out, then another, then the third. After 3 you will be kinda light headed. Our bodys are not used to this much straight oxagen at one time. It seems to really do the trick. I also cut straws, cigarette length and had one everywhere, in my car, next to the computer, in my purse, in my pocket, even in the bathroom. The girth is the same as a cigarette and you can finger it as a prop. If you forget - draw, it-s only air. God helped me, so I-ll help you.

Whats the best way to get my girlfriend to quit smoking? -

My girlfriend has been smoking for a few years before I came into her life and now since we are at 6 months I told her that I want her to start quitting because I hate smoking.

She has cut down to almost 3 a week when shes around me, but when she is with her friends (current smokers) or is drinking then she chain smokes non-stop.

It-s obvious that her trying to quit isn-t really cutting it and I want to find a way for her to be able to quit throughout the whole day everyday.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Keep in mind any attempt of me to take action by force results in her getting quite pissed at me, which stresses her more and makes her smoke more, so I-m trying to find an easier way for both of us

Thank you
It-s really too bad you can-t arrange with some medical school to come in and have her take a look at the disgusting mess a LUNG becomes when it-s -former owner- has smoked for years....it-s also too bad you can-t take her into hospital ROOMS where people with chronic lung disease cause by smoking are about to die... it-s a HORRIBLE thing to watch----it-s horrible to sit there and watch as they scrape the insides of the lungs or change the bandages on the large back wound from a partial lungectomy and it-s really rough to watch a loved one DIE from cigarette smoke---like I had to watch my father die 11 years ago... THAT could be HER someday...and there is NO guarantee that she WON-T get a serious lung disease if she doesn-t quit smoking.... she-s young right now and it will be a LOT easier for her to quit NOW then it will be 20 YEARS from now when it might be TOO LATE.... she would have to stay away from her smoking friends for a while and either get the patch or use what I did-----NAVAL ORANGES... when I wanted a cigarette, I picked up an orange, peeled it, pullled it apart and ate it section by section---taking as long as it would take to smoke a cigarette... this gave my hands AND mouth something to do and it was not fattening and within a week, I was cutting DOWN on the number of oranges I HAD to eat to compensate for my craving for cigarettes... it-s been 7 MONTHS now and I don-t crave them at all---in fact, I-ve turned into an EVIL EX SMOKER hell bent on making the world quit.... 8 months ago, I would just LAUGH at someone who suggested I quit....
Well, she-s lucky to have someone who cares about her. Nicotine is very addictive! I found some videos on youtube some might be helpful to her if she watches them. Here is a link to one of them. I hope it helps. Good luck! Her health and life are at stake.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHmxNH9ia…

Actually quit nagging her. You need to tell her that you would like to keep her around for a very long time and smoking will not make that happen in fact it will shorten the time that you will have together. It has to be her choice to quit and the best way for you to help is to encourage her as she reduces the number of smokes a day. The problem is that her friends smoke which is a trigger for her to smoke. The triggers are the hardest thing to over come. Good luck.
Tell her to choose between you and smoking. Talking to her friends wont help and theyll only hate you so just tell her that if she doesn-t stop that it-s over.
You can either ask her to wear a patch or there is a pill but im not sure of the name that if she takes it she will start to dislike the taste of the cigarettes and it will help her stop, but the pill is like prescription so you have to go to the doctor to get it. Or you can ask her to chew Nicorette gum.
dump her it-s not like your married
Leave her....

If that doesn-t work then it wasn-t meant to be
Please be aware that nicotine is a physical and a psycological addiction. I have started and stopped several times in my lifetime; I am currently not smoking and hope to remain so. If love could cure addictions, that would be wonderful. Unfortuneately, it is up to the individual to face their addiction, even if it is cigarettes. One-s physician is a good source to overcome a nicotine addiction; there are several medications available to assist one in overcoming nicotine addiction; there are support groups as well.

Why is it difficult for men to quit smoking? -

Why do men associate smoking with feelings of inadequacy? All the men I spoke to, told me that they smoke more when they are depressed, bored, lonely or desolate. Is it really difficult to finish off that habit??
We also smoke more when we-re angry, drinking, stressed out, and after a meal. You need to look at the big picture.
Oh my god thats exactly why i smoke,i get down and lonely and then i smoke like theres no tomorrow its just a case of having a plan and following through with it,i know because as soon as i get my mind in to physical exercise and break away from the feelings of lazyness i know i will kick the habit!
The truth is that cigarette smokers just want something they can suck on in public.
try this:
keep eating snack when you want to smoke
like your favourite snack: like m - m or chips or other junk food
It-s just as difficult for woman. This is not a well thought out question.
it is always nice to have a smoke after heavy sex.
I don-t know but I don-t smoke
They are playing the field for sympathy. As long as they are getting laid by women who obviously don-t mind breath that smells like Sh-%, then they-ll keep doing it.Quitting is all about willpower. I usually have a harder time starting things.
It-s difficult for anyone to quit smoking. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin.
Nicotine is addictive.
I guess it is similare to people drinking, except smoking is a stimulant while alchohol is a depressant, mabey that is why they feel better when they smoke. Also, the reason it is so dificult to smoke is because Nicotine is highly adictive.
its difficult for women too!

Who quit smoking cigarettes after they smoked for more than 5+ years? -

I quit smoking cigarettes forever, but it wasn-t hard i just didn-t crave for nicotine one day. I-ve been smoke free for 8 months.
I quit after 6 years of smoking but I wasn-t as lucky as you. I couldn-t just quit and it took me several goes. It wasn-t until I dealt with my psychological addiction that I actually quit.

I truly believe that smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If people are struggling to quit then they must discover the reasons why they smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking I reckon it makes the quitting process easy.

its good to be smoke free :D
but when you have an urge to smoke, do chew on some gum and if not, try some hotline to help you abstain you from smoking.

HELP! :) Have you ever quit smoking before? -

I quit smoking three weeks ago. I wore a patch for the first two weeks, and I-m no longer wearing one. I wasn-t sleeping very well while using the patch.

I-m pretty much OK now... but the cravings are so frequent still! It-s torture sometimes.

What I was wondering is... if you have quit smoking before, how long did it take for you to stop having cravings?

Or... at the very least... how long before the cravings became much less frequent?
I quit smoking several years ago using the patch. I also took Zyban. I believe it-s an anti depressant that they-ve discovered helps with the mental cravings of smoking. I quit the patch after a month and kept on the zyban for a couple of more months. It seemed to work great for me. Unfortunately I started smoking again a year later when my dad died.. so the idea is always in your head.. you just have to beat it.
About a month. It helped that my boyfriend really hated to see me smoke. Try to hang around nonsmoking friends and stay away from smokey places.
never because i don-t smoke

Cravings come and go. But they only last literally for like 20 - 40 seconds. I quit cold turkey and was smoking 4 packs a day when I quit. That was back in 94.
Never started smoking
I think you should take another whack at the patch. Try putting it on first thing when you wake up, and take it off at least a couple of hours before you go to sleep. They really only deliver nicotine for twelve hours, so if you don-t sleep much anyway, they may not be enough. I find they DO help though, a lot. Also, they really do take longer than just a couple of weeks. I-m using the step down series; level one is the same as one pack of cigarettes a day; use them for at least three or four weeks, maybe even more. Then, go to step 2 patches, which are about one-third less strong. Use them for several weeks as well, before going to step 1. If you rush or try to take a short cut, you are probably going to backslide and start smoking again.

The other habits are not going to be helped by the patch. I find tic-tacs or altoids to be good if I want a cigarette, or, sometimes I go brush my teeth if my mouth feels tingly. Either of these tricks keep you from eating to give your mouth something to do, which is the real reason many people gain weight when they quit.

Personally the patches make me dream a lot, I like that! I have only smoked once in three months now, and that one time was two months ago. Good luck!
I quit 4 years ago and still get an occasional craving. If you-ve made it three weeks you-re over the hardest part, just don-t give in, good luck
I keep tryen but I have not succeded yet. If you to really want to quit and make that dession. I keep tryen to do it for everyone else but me thats why it hasn-t worked for me. Good luck to ya!
Can-t help you with this but, in answer to your answer on mine about my avatar being a guy my answer is:

Ways to make my mom quit smoking? -

My grandpa died this january from emphysema. It seems like that would help my mom quit smoking, but she just won-t. She claims to want to stop, but -just can-t quit.-
Any suggestions on how I could help her quit?
Do/did you smoke cigarettes?
i quit using a support group..she would be welcome if she wants to try.. we have on line meetings..

Pull up this forum
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/

Sit her down in front of it and tell her to read.

Or... pull up videos on e-cigarettes on youtube and sit her down to watch then pull up the forum for her.

Don-t judge, let her check it out. I smoked for over 30 years and was off of tobacco cigs within 2 weeks. There-s a lot of different models so make sure she does some research first to see which one fits her needs best and then shops it.
Stopping Smoking Is very hard to do. But you can get patches or an inhalator. If she starts to cut down on the smoking then try and quit, don-t quit just like that because it is hard to do.
Hi if you really want to quit smoking fast watch this video and make it favorite.

It-s not mine, but it is really good, and helpful.

i wanna get it for her b day and some earrings but anybody know? she tried nicolette, didnt work
Aw, you are a good kid.

I-m an ex smoker, so here is a good quit package for your mom:
A note telling her why you want her to quit
Allen Carr-s book on quitting smoking
A box of patches (Nicoderm makes them but get the clear patch... its less irritating.
A couple of bottles of water and a pack of sugar free gum
A puzzle (to keep her hands busy) or a crossword book (try a dollar store for these)

Also, tell her to look at this site (write it down for her)

http://www.quitnet.com

Its a quit smoking site (free) with 24 hour support from other people who are quitting and have been quit for a long time. Its very good. I used it and pass it on to people all the time.

Did I mention you-re a good kid!?
What a cool present.

We have a system that will perfect for your mum. She has already tried and failed to quit through fixing her physical addiction, sound like she needs to fix her psychological addiction.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If she really wants to quit then she must discover the reasons why she smokes and then she must eliminate or change these thought processes.

Visit our site to join her up to our inspirational 12 day e-course. She can also download our free book -36 Powerful Superfoods- to help fight weight gain and start mending damage caused by smoking.

Good Luck, I hope you find that perfect present for her.
Every loving child with a smoking parent asks this at some time.
The secret to all the help quit aids begins with the smoker really wanting to quit. They have to be ready. Rarely is it a cake walk. you might start by letting her know how much you worry about losing her if she continues. Let her know, you know she has to be ready to be successful, but you will support her every step of the way. You might also research and show her the choices she has, and the help available to kick the habit.
I smoked knew I should stop, but it was always later. Then I found I had breast cancer and was lucky. It was in a very early stage. Was a wake up call for me. I realized smoking could actually take my life or put me on oxygen and carry a tank around and make my life miserable, and feel guilty for being selfish. Not only does the person need to care about there own health, they need to realize how many people would be hurt she cancer take her life. The hospitals and many other clinics will be supportive and help. My husband smoked at age 12 and chained smoked until he was 34. I took him to a hypnosis seminar at the end every one -woke up- and had to say I am a non smoker. He seemed to sleep through most of it, but sat up and yelled he was a non smoker. We all laughed because he couldn-t believe it came out of his mouth. He has not touched a cigerette since that day. The first week he would think about it but know he really would never smoke again.
Never give up. IF you mom fails, it doesn-t matter as long as she keeps trying.
Good luck, stay positive.
The kits to help people quit smoking honestly only put the harmful factor into their body by different means. Nicotine is obviously that. Any of the kits just give them their fill of nicotine by patches or gum so they get the same feeling they get from smoking. - sometimes they work, but once you stop them you have the urge again. Your best bet is to get her the earrings - a card. In the card express your concern - tell her you-d like her to quit. It-s hard - you-ll need to support her but in the end it-s worth it. My aunt has tried quitting several times - has used nicotine kits - only found them to be a waste of money. She has not smoked in awhile, - when she feels the need to she chews normal gum. So maybe try buying her some gum as well, but in my opinion the kits are no good.
That-s sweet, but it doesn-t work that way. There is no one stop-smoking-aid that works for everyone.

The patch worked for me. (I quit almost 11 years ago after smoking 1-1/2 to 2 packs a day for 20 years)

But I have friends who haven-t been smoking that long and smoke way less...the patch didn-t work for them.

It-s just different for everyone.

Bottom line: get your mom the earrings, tell her how proud you are that she-s trying to quit, and tell her you love her no matter what, and mean it when you say it.
Yes, there is a drug that will help your mother to stop smoking, but she is the one that has to really want to stop. Of course you have to get prescription from her physician. It is called Chantix. It really works. I have witnessed several people quit smoking with this drug. Check out this website. It is quite expensive, but some insurance will cover it.
www.chantix.com/content/Common. Good luck.
I think the patch is best. The nicorette doesn-t taste so good, and the patch doesn-t have any taste at all. You might want to buy her a package of toothpicks, or hard candy also, so her mouth has something in it, and won-t feel like taking a puff so much. Also, remind her to deep breathe, as most of the time people who smoke usually are taking a drag off of a cigarette for their normal deep breaths. Hope this helps.
only way to do it is to bring it up overs and over and make her feel stup*d for smoking do it everytime she picks up a smoke..examples

leave the room coughing
use air freshener as to say she stinks
tell the kids to get away from her cause she is smoking
tell her not to smoke in car cause you don-t want it to stink like her
it all depends in most case scenerios nothing works but there is a old remedy buy alot of gum for her to chew on and throw away the cigarrettes butts away

How can I quit smoking when I live with a smoker? -

Even though he smokes outside and I can smell it on his clothes and breath. Then reason i do it bcuz it relives a little stress. What are other methods?
----Keep Busy
----Stay Away from What Tempts You
----Managing Cravings: When you really crave a cigarette
Remember: The urge to smoke will come and go. Try to wait it out. Or look at the plan you made last week. You wrote down steps to take at a time like this. Try them! You can also try these tips:

?Keep other things around instead of cigarettes. Try carrots, pickles, sunflower seeds, apples, celery, raisins, or sugarfree gum.

?Wash your hands or the dishes when you want a cigarette very badly. Or take a shower.

?Learn to relax quickly by taking deep breaths.
?Take 10 slow, deep breaths and hold the last one.
?Then breathe out slowly.
?Relax all of your muscles.
?Picture a soothing, pleasant scene.
?Just get away from it all for a moment.
?Think only about that peaceful image and nothing else.
?Light incense or a candle instead of a cigarette.

?Where you are and what is going on can make you crave a cigarette. A change of scene can really help. Go outside, or go to a different room. You can also try changing what you are doing.

?No matter what, don-t think, -Just one won-t hurt.- It will hurt. It will undo your work so far.

there is alot of help for you on ....... www.smokefree.gov....... ^_^ good luck
It is hard to quit with another smoker near by. I haven-t had a smoke since Monday. If I lived with a smoker, that wouldn-t have been possible. It takes a lot of willpower to not go buy a pack a smokes but much more to resist when you live with someone who can quickly give you a fix. I am a pack a day smoker and I have done this before and it lasted for years before I went back. If you stop, it will be hard to even kiss your man because after a few days( weeks) of not smoking, the smell on him will gross you out. I would try to get him to stop also but don-t do it cold turkey. Its too hard. Both of you can still enjoy smoking together but cut it back a little every day until your down to maybe 4 or 5 for the day, then both stop at the same time.
Mandy,

I-ve to say that your situation hmm is a little bit tough because during the first 2 weeks of quitting you need to stay away from anything related to cigarettes. You are still weak during these first 2 weeks and still tempted to smoke - nicotine dependency is still there.

However, still if you really want to quit smoking, there are 2 ways for you in this situation :
1) Condition your mind for 30 days that smoking is bad and stop smoking is good. List down all the bad things about smoking (you can make up some bad points as well) and read them everyday for 30 days when you just wake up from sleep. Soon your brain starts to believe that smoking is bad and it-s going to be easy for you the moment you quit on 31st day. I-m serious here, this is not a mumbo jumbo but conditioning of your mind (kinda brainwash if you want to look at different angle)

2) If you don-t want to do the first method, you have to move out. You need to stay away from her/him but of course you have to tell him in a nice way. This doesn-t mean you have to end your friendship. Tell him/her that you need him/her to understand your situation. If she/he really cares about you, she/he can accept that.

May be you can think of other options? How about you persuade him/her to stop smoking together with you ? How about him/her being your stop-smoking buddy ? :)
Hi Mandy

yep that-s a toughie.. but it is doable, a number of people in my support group live with practicing smokers.. in time some come around and actually quit, but don-t hold your breathe..you are not alone..

most of my friends simply made up their mind they wanted to quit regardless of their roommates, or spouses, and did that, his willingness to smoke outside is a biggie..

you say that smoking relieves a little stress, actually smoking nearly postpones stress, and you light up again later.. support group people have a bunch of ways to deal with that stress, actually we call them
cravings..

1 Distract.. (do something else) for instance you cant wash dishes and smoke at the same time..

2 Delay (i don-t need one now) a series of delays is real time and a quit

3 Discuss.. we call each other on phone or im the internet..

4 Deep breathe.. most smokers only breathe deeply when they take a drag.

5 Drink water..that-s right drinking water cures cravings as well as flushes toxins from the body..

you may have guessed by now ,that im a member of a support group.. i have been clean from tobacco for over 5 years now.. i attend Nicotine Anonymous meetings, both locally, and on line.. on line voice meetings are as close as your computer, and your welcome to attend meetings before actually attempting a quit..

however you decide to proceed god luck!! there simply is no wrong way to quit!!

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. I feel for you. Quitting is hard enough without someone else smoking in the house. I-ve tried various times to give up in the past and failed again and again. I find advice such as eating carrots, celery and gum useless as ultimately what my body is yearning for is to smoke a cigarette not eat vegetables. And anyway there is only so many carrots you can eat at the end of the day.
My wife smokes. She seems to give up easily whenever i try quitting and then when I re-start, she eventually starts again which makes me feel terrible.
This is a process that has happened a few times. Then eventually my wife bought a smoking alternative ie. an electronic cigarette. She begun smoking that and asked me to give it a go at least when I was at home. I did and although i have smoked the odd cigarettes now and again (not at home) I always revert to the e cig. It helps me because ultimately I enjoy the social side of smoking which makes it difficult for me to quit permanently. Its acts as my safety net.
At the end of the day though you still need a certain amount of will power - even with an electronic cigarette. Its just made a lot easier for me not having to deal with both the cravings and what to do instead of smoking while having a cup of coffee, out socialising or after a meal etc.
You can find out more here
http://smokersbuddy.com

Good luck. Remember to take it a day at a time.
it-s called willpower. some have it, some don-t.

How do you get a parent to quit smoking, without them know you are trying to make them quit? -

First you want to do this to your grandparents, now your parents? You know that-s what dictators do, don-t you?
Just leave them alone. There-s probably a reason they are smoking. I can think of one. The way the chain is going, you-ll probably follow suit. Then someone will be playing tricks on you to stop.
Hmm. I would just open up and tell them that what they are doing is not healthy and that you don-t like that. However I-m not sure how that will work in your situation. I just get very annoyed when I see people smoking, because my father was diagnosed with throat cancer even though he didn-t smoke. Depending on your age though, I would just confront them and maybe /give some examples of what happens when you smoke that you learned in school/ Best of luck to you.
Try banging up a cardboard coffin with several ashtrays inside full of cigarette butts - placing it where their bed normally is.... add some -Bon Voyage- cards and see what happens!!
you cant..lol

but if your can get past the without them knowing part..go to a doctor and get some pills that will help them quit
you don-t need to.every one knows the health benefits of smoking
