I just quit smoking and I need someonthing to do. Someone please help me What can i do to keep the cravin away -

Can someone please give me advice, and tips to break my craving PLease and thank you I need a new habit.
This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quit smoking 2 years ago

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

Medical Endorsements

A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health

“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”

Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees

“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”

Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital

“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”

Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong

“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”

Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London

”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”

Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP

“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”

Celebrity Endorsements

-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson

“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

GOOD LUCK
A strong will, hard candy, eating, pencil twiddling, thumb sucking, reading, sleeping, running, writing, cooking, and anything else you can think of...try them all.
I just got myself an iPod, and it-s totally distracting and the best exercise and weight loss equipment ever! Everytime I feel like snacking out of sheer boredom, I grab that thing and go for a walk. I-m addicted to spending money on iTunes, but I-m getting in great shape! I bet it could work for you, too, with the smoking...
umm well, I smoke. I could smoke for you! hehe sorry!
My dad told me that chew on something helps (gum, pen etc)
try that!
It isn-t good to replace one addiction with another, the cravings only last for 15 seconds. They say the first two weeks are the easiest because there is still nicotine in your system. I smoke, I have been sense I was 14 and I am almost 19 now. I quit for a week one time but it was not by choice, I was in the hospital and you know what it sucked so bad, I dunno, I think that keeping your hands busy would do you alot of good, being on the computer is a start because its not easy to type and smoke because then the damn ashes fall on the keyboard. Go to the store and get one of them poster coloring things, the ones that glow in the dark, you could get a latch-hook kit and do that when your craving a smoke, chew gum, suck on hard candy, start exercising, going for walks every morning or night, at first it will be hard because of the smoking, but once you do it for awhile it will get easier and your body will feel so much better and that right there is going to make you see that smoking takes alot out of you and makes your body feel like crap. The bottom line is, keep your hands and your mouth busy, don-t bite your nails and remember that the craving is only strong for 15 seconds and then it gets weaker. GOOD LUCK :D
try scrapbooking it-s lots
of fun. seriously if you have
kids or family that-s one reason
two you should value your
life smoking is not worth your
life. good luck to you.
Reading always helped me when I quite smoking. Or if all else fails, gum can help. I used to chew on the end of pens... until one exploded :) it was funny. Just go for a walk, draw, or read. It is definitely worth it. When I was smoking Doctors found pre-cancerous cells in my body, and when I quit, they went away. That is how bad smoking is. Hope things work out for you. Just keep with it. Think of anything other then smoking. Have a great day :)
Rule # 1: Your desire to quit has to be stronger than your desire to smoke.

Plus do all the things other people suggest:
The nicotine in your system need flushing.
You will have a new bloodline in 3 months and new pink lungs in two years, instead of black lungs.

Drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables.

Meditate, enjoy your easier breaths.

Remember the bad things smelly everything, car, clothing everywhere, cigarette burns too. Save on cleaning, plus save tons of money for not smoking. Save on embarassing looks from people walking past you. No more being and Outsider! Think of others, and your family. You will have to dissasociate with smokers too.

When things get tough remember rule no #1. Your desire to quit must be stronger than your desire to smoke. Plus you must decide never to have not even one more cigarette again because you know that will be the end of it. Remember too, you will crave even years later.

The only choice there is is the desire not to smoke must be greater than your craving. That desire may even to do it for another person.

Back to the first rule.
Good Luck
im a bookworm. read and if that doesnt work, try excersising.
what my friend did after quiting, is whenever he felt like having to smoke again, especially after meals...he puts candy on his mouth...
I recently read that the best thing to do for a craving is to drink water and avoid sugar. Sugar will increase your cravings and staying hydrated will stave them off. Also remember that cravings only last for two minutes if you can make it through two minutes it should go away. Typing a long answer to a question could take that long:)
Do something that gets you moving and takes your mind off of the craving.
play with yourself every 4 hours
Try lifesavers
Candy or gum helps. My sister quit with Haul-s cough drops because they gave her that menthol taste. How about nicotine gum?
The thing that helped the most for me was fake cigarettes. It has been 18 months for me and I still use them occasionally. It helps to simulate the motions of smoking when on the phone, after dinner, etc.

Also, I kept telling myself that I was going to be proud of myself and strong. (And I am). I made lists of things I could do to keep busy when cravings come. Try to get hooked on something good for you - like exercise bike, Yoga, meditation, etc. Pray for strength. Best of luck, I hope you make it. It is worth it. P.S. I didn-t put on any weight - so it can be done.
READ A BOOK, WORKOUT, LOLLIE POPS, TV, CLEAN SOMETHING, STAY AWAY FROM WHATEVER MAKES YOU THINK OF SMOKING, TOOTHPICK IN MOUTH, SEWING, BAKE SOMETHING
I just quit smoking and I need someonthing to do. Someone please help me What can i do to keep the cravin away -

If so How much weight did you gain?
I had a friend that quit that way. he said it was hard, mostly because he was so use to having something to hold on to. It did cut down his cravings though. I didn-t notice if he gained weight, guys don-t really notice that I guess lol

don-t worry about the weight though, its more healthy then smoking and you can burn it off.

good luck, and enjoy all the extra money you will have when you don-t have to buy smokes all the time lol
yeah, my mother quit smoking for a couple a years ago using nicotine pills and gums. I think she gained about 30 pounds.
She chewed gum for about 1 years, then she changed to pills which she used for like 5 yrs...

Good Luck!!
no,the inhaler is better
They say the real trick to quitting is drinking lots of water. The water will not only flush out the system but will make you feel full, too. As for the patch, I knew a girl that used them. Whatever you do, do NOT cheat while you-re using them. You can overdose on nicotine.

I need to quit smoking maryjuana? -

Any idea what I should do im just a sophmore in high school and I dont want it to take control of my life, i want better grades, a good future in football, and better memory. I just wanna quit, but you all know how hard that is... can someone please help, ive learned my lesson
I-m a junior in highschool. i will be a senior in a short time. The last three years of my life are all a blur to me because i was a pothead. I was almost raped by an older man because i mixed weed and oxy. Trust me, i dont mean to be a preecher but the people who resist drugs are the stronger. be stronger and achieve your dreams. The cool and stupid class clown stoner kids, are the weak and will fade out of high school very soon sadly. Just stop smoking pot. It-s that easy. Get a hobby, make a journal on how you feel each day and your cravings. It-s hard everyday but with self motionation and strong will. you can surely bet it as i did. good luck my friend. if you need anymore assistance or help please allow me to help you.

everyone says it is not physically addictive, so if you are addicted it is for psychological reasons. My guess is you are trying to escape from something that troubles you. The best way to quit smoking pot is to face what you are trying to escape head on. Maybe seeing a therapist is in order. Also, if you want to quit you need to completely get it out of your life, stop hanging with your stoner friends...
Just focus on it really hard. Get another hobby, work out, get some friends who are always hanging out but dont somke weed. Weed doesnt create a physical addiction so its all in your head. Just try to think of other things
i-ve been where you are - know its hard,...
once you stop, you need tools to remain stopped
1. don-t hang around your stoner friends-if they are using-you gotta cut -em loose!
2. go to a support system of some sort (like narcotics anonymous)
3. get honest with your parents if you haven-t already
4. get used to saying no! as in no, i cant go to that party if they are smokin dope there,...
5. clean up whatever mess you made while doing dope, trust god, and be of service to others without expecting anything in return.

i was your age when i was encouraged to go to my first narcotics anonymous meeting because my life was a mess,(it all started with weed-but went way way beyond)
i struggled through the rest of high school hating that i just couldn-t stay away from drugs. i finally got clean after failing out of my first semester of college, drugs were no longer fun and i was no longer in control,....
just stop cold turkey, my husband has smoked for years and years and he stopped cold turkey, been off for 2 weeks. dont be around people who smoke..
Just stop doing it. Your memory and life will improve afterwards.
Say buddy, I got some good news for you. Many people quit without professional help. Often it will take several attempts befor a person stops. But the slip ups are not a big deal. What is imporant is that you start again. Each time you slip up you learning something about what -Triggered- you to smoke. Keep a list of the things that triggered your smoking and then come up with some other plan on how to deal with the situation.
There might be a place in your area that will provide you will addtional help: it can be free. To get a list contact 411 and ask for a drug treatment center in your area.

It is common for people your age to drop in and out of drug using behaviors. The fact that you are adressing this now suggests that you will do well in the future.

The two biggest problems with pot is that 1. you can go to jail for a long time if you get caught, and 2. you can never be sure if what you are buying is really pot (you never know what you might be getting)

Actually: this can be the best experience of your life. Quitting is difficult, but you will really learn quite a bit about yourself in the process. What you will learn will help you as an adult.
yeah...i was really into it once, i did it every single day.
but i just stopped. it doesnt help out in anyway, not really a point in it (to me) its not hard at all! its all in your head!
seriously!
If you can not get rid of bad habit, come to Jesus with genuine repentance and faith. He is your Answer. You will find a life worth-living in Him.

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives us air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives us water to drink and food to eat.
God gives us a wonderful body and a sound mind and life.
God loves us, and we are precious to Him.
The Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Your life therefore has a fantastic and glorious future!
(Please must visit: www.spiritlessons.com)
the best thing to do is to get in a program with people that have the same problem and are trying to quit at the same time!
trust me ...partnership helps!
don-t go through this alone!
and good luck
there, you said it yourself, you learned your lesson, now stop, get a hold on your future and go for it.
If you dont want to smoke it then dont. It is not addictive as cigerrettes, cocaine, meth, heroine, or booze. You may want to avoid being around it since you feel the need to smoke it if having the chance. If you make excuses to smoke pot then you gotta learn to deal with those excuses.
Very easy. . .marijuana causes a psychological dependence and is not addictive. Just don-t light the next joint and develop an interest in something else. . . BTW get rid of all your stash and do not have any available.
just stop.i know its hard because its a addiction but get help or something.dont let it control you.

Have any of you tried to quit smoking after 42 years? -

how was your attempt? What methods did you use?
Oh FONZ, are you trying to quit? Im sorry I am not any help on this...many of my friends have tried to quit, quit for awhile, then started back again. My best friend only quit, cold turkey when they told her she had breast cancer. I have had friends quit while they are pregnant, and then started back the day the baby was born. I understand it is the hardest thing in the world to do....one of my husbands employees used the patch, and the gum......and therapy, he always had times when he smoked, when he got up in the morning, on the way to work, after coffee, at break, on the phone, etc, so when he was doing those things he chewed the gum and started walking.....I have no answers, each person I hear has to do what they have to do....I know I am typing alot and not saying much, all I can say is that me and Belle will pray for you....anything we can do to help....are you ok?
My brother got cancer of the tongue. He was operated on at Loyola University in Chicago. The whole 7 th floor was head and neck cancers only.He was told 99 1/2 % of his cancer was caused by smoking. His main wish was to be able to sleep. Because of smoking , his lungs were filled with fluid, the fluid had to be kept clear with a suction hose through a whole in his esophagus. He had 6 drainage holes in his neck.He looked like frankenstein. He had to go through massive radiation treatments. It burned his salivary glands. Do you think he quit smoking, finally? YES!!!! Shock therapy.
Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, the length of time hooked, does not matter. An addict (and that is what we are) is an addict no matter what. I am trying to quit, and I have smoked for 26 years. I am only 40 years old, so over half my life I have been addicted! I have researched and researched. I am currently using Final Smoke...its a help, but there is no miracle out there that I have found. I have friends who have done hypnosis, and it worked great...I have also been reading Allen Carr-s The Easy Way To Stop Smoking...its pretty good too. I have not finished it yet, but everything in there makes sense so far! He was a 5 pack a day smoker! So he speaks from experience! You can look part of it up online, maybe even the whole book... If you really want to quit, throw them all away, and get started! But make sure you really want to. Because if you don-t have your mind there, your body will not accept it either. Good luck!!! You CAN do it!!
actually i smoked for almost 40 years... quit through a nicotine anonymous group on the net..

I have quit smoking, how long will it take for my lungs to improve? -

I have quit smoking, how long will it take for my lungs to improve? -

I smoked for about 6 years, averaging around 10-15 per day. Can anyone shed some light on the time line of my lungs improving? For the first few years I smoked 8mgs then changed to 4mgs.
never will be the best they can be cause it has tar in them looks like ur screwed like the rest of us
If you only smoked for a few years then, yes your lungs will regenerate progressively over a few years (along with your taste buds and sense of smell) Versus a person that quits after 25 years, they can always end up with cancer or emphysema even ten years later.
By the way, The lungs start to heal after only eight hours.
No, The human lungs can regenerate like the rest of your body... This process will take about 7 years in total, but after like... 3or so years, you can already feel drastic changes, (no more hard coughing, no mucus buildup in your lungs) etc, etc,
The improvement should start immediately.
It won-t be rapid though.
The absence of irritation should be immediately apparent, within a week or two.
Improvement in vital capacity will be slow.
dont have a cough nor any wheezing , it-s coming up !

congrats ! , a brave move that u quit, about how long , it-ll be about 3 monthes
they told me 8 years and i smoked for 25 years!
about 7 years

How can I quit smoking weed? -

I-ve been smoking weed every day since about a month ago. All I wanna do is get high now. I don-t want to quit. =[
Just don-t do it. Get some self control.
Everytime you are about to smoke some, stop what you are doing and send it to me. Then go to.....
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
Convince yourself that you don-t need it. Think about what it-s doing to your lungs. Weed doens-t cause physical dependency so it-s all in your mind.
smoke a lil less evertime i guess or get a lot and smoke till u fell sick
see your doctor
go to a doctor. idk wat else to say other then that. he / she will help u alot
if you-re an adult and working, your job might have a help via your health insurance. check with local free clinics for help. come clean with someone you trust who doesn-t do drugs and ask them to help you want. flush away what drugs you still have. if you-re compulsively smoking, as oppossed to smoking recreationally, then you do have a serious problem. the good news - you realize it and have started looking for help.
i dont no if you wanna do this but... i was smoking weed everyday for 2 years and if i didnt get it i got really pissd off. then... i fell pregnant and had to quit. i had one cone after i found out and realised that it wasnt just going to me but it was going to my baby, honestly i didnt want that. i havent had a cone now for 3 months and i cant stand the smell of it either. my partner still smokes but i get him to smoke in a different room... its all about self control... if i didnt see it i didnt want it. dont buy it and dont look at a bong that way you wont want it. trust me. if i couldnt see or smell it i wanted it!!!! if i couldnt i didnt. to tell you the truth addiction only last 28days after that your fine.

Absolute best way to quit smoking? -

what is the absolute best way to quit smoking and stay quit???
The best way to quit smoking is to make an absolute decision to quit. You have total control over your addiction, but lack conviction. Find a reason to quit smoking that is better than the excuses you use to keep smoking. I quit 33 years ago and never looked back. You can do the same.
As a Certified Hypnotist, not only do I help individuals who wish to rid the habit of smoking - I have done it myself! It is now over four years and i have not touched - literally -touched- a cigarette! I combine NLP (Tony Robbins) and Hypnosis to put in -roots- - amazing results. Now, you truly have to want to quit or nothing will work (most smokers LIKE to smoke and don-t really want to give it up).....it-s all about you....the hypnotist is there just to -help you change your mind...-
you will do it cold turkey.
great, the first step is the desire for quiting, you should find a natural substitute for smoking, such as tea or coffee. also relaxation exercises and music are great. oh and also stop smoking little by little cuz it-s impossible to quit smoking from one day to another. keep a record on the number of cigars you smoke , but try to drop the amount really significantly, and also think on the financial benefit from quiting
Is there an absolute best way to do away with an habit?. I think it-s an individual thing. Once you have reached that stage that u believe in the inner recesses of your mind that you may have enjoyed smoking a bit too much, then I guess you get up and walk away from it and keep on walking.Never look back.
. When you started smoking you bought the cigarettes, now you stop buying cigarettes. That should be the -absolutely best way.- Ignore the withdrawal symptoms. There are many other ways to quit smoking, ask others that have quit to share, what worked best for them, to keep them smoke free!
I-m a smoker who hasn-t been able to quit. 2 things that I have never tried that have worked for some other people i know are hypnotizm and some prescription from your doctor. i forget what its called. But I haven-t had much luck with gum, patch, cold-turkey, laser, ect.
to stop smoking you should do it abruptly, and not gradual. have lots of candies or mints at hand, in case you crave.
You need to stop smoking!
You can try to buy Stop Smoking products, like a Zero Nicotine Patch.
See it here..

Can you share us your personal experience to quit smoking ? -

I quit smoking after 40 yrs, In a couple days I can smell smoke second hand smoke smoke on my stuff hanging in the closet in the car, I bought some life safers put them in my front pocket that help , then I just put it in mind if I wanted to live stop . if I want to die lite up. that-s how I stop
Hello izzo!

Take a look at this discussion forum thread about people quitting with electronic cigarettes. Some say that using electronic cigarettes can help you quit smoking. Currently there is no scientific evidence for or against it.

One option is to gradually lower the level of nicotine in your cartridges to become nicotine and tobacco free.

The other option is to smoke electronic cigarettes with zero nicotine cartridges while applying nicotine patches. That way you separate addiction and habit.

Good Luck! It-s not easy ...
Yeah. Quit cold turkey. Every time you want a cigarette, do something else instead.
Or, every time yoou want one, just don-t smoke one.
I quit a year and a half ago.
If heroin addicts can kick their habit, you can kick nicotine.

Maybe if it gets bad you can use nicotine gum or the patch, but try not to use them at all. Use them only as a very last resort, and only in the first week. If you use patches all the time, you-re just going to start smoking again. Also, you will have no make a promise not to have -just one-. And keept it forever. I still have cravings when I am stressed or want one really bad when my friend lights up. I don-t have just one, even though I think it won-t do that much harm....because I know if I smoke one I-ll start smoking again.

Just don-t smoke. Don-t buy cigarettes. Don-t bum cigarettes. Don-t be around them. And go for a jog when you want one, it-ll be good for your lungs which probably need the extra help, and it-ll make you feel like quitting smoking is part of your new healthy lifestyle.
nothing any of us say can make you quit.

each of us, one day said -I-m done-, it was a knowing deep inside that it was over, that it was only a matter of time.

how did i do it? a little weird i-ll admit: picked a weeekend, and TOTALLY INDULGED and bought $200 of DVD-s and chocolate and potato chips. Over teh weekend (never left my house), the nicotine cravings were minimal, as my brain was SO DISTRACTED by being drowned with this other pleasure i have. The 48 hours were up pretty fast, and I was half-way home. Best $200 I ever spent. I was spending near that killing myself anyway.
Hi Dear

It is really very easy if you think a little.

I was in this habit for 30 years.
I said to myself that henceforth I am not going to be a SLAVE to my habits any more.
First week was difficult but latter I could smell anyone smoking in the neighbouring room
for your information...

stopping smoking is not somewhere outside.. i for instance is a smoker.. i have been smoking for 5,6 years,... and i just left smoking as i had a real fear of death in my mind.. i stopped smoking from august 2008 and till this april 3rd i was not smoking at all.. and this happened on 4th of april.. i was having adrink with my friend.. and he offered me a smoke.. which i wud generally avoid.. earlier.. accepted that day.. and i started smoking as if i have never left smoking...

so smoking s not a habit as people think.. it is only an event.. if you want to stop smoking .. dont think about it.. and when you really have the urge to smoke.. just say yourself this one time -i willNOT smoke.-

i was able to stop smoking just because i really had the fear of succumbing to cancer.....

so it is all in your mind.. your mind can do what is good for you if you really think you must do it!

be strong in your mind.. think of the negative things you would end up with if u continued smoking..

gud luk to stop smoking..

3 things u shall do ..
1.avoid places where u smoke.. like a smoking joint..
2.avoid persons who will encourage u to smoke..
3. tell every one you know that- U HAVE STOPPED SMOKING - this will make ur ego understand that if u smoke again that thall the words of all those who laughed at you saying -u can never- true, correct..

diver urself in any other activity u like .. when u feel to smoke.

Why do people gain weight when they quit smoking, I dont want too!? -

I really want to quit, I know that I need to! Someone please tell me the secrets of quitting and not gaining weight from quitting
The reason most people gain weight is cigs are curd with or dried with sugar, and that is what most poeple crave when quiting is the sugar. If you can curve your habit on the sugar and exercise and keep your hands moving and instead of being still you should be fine.

Also most poeple get depressed from lack of nicatine, maybe see your doctor about an anti depresentant..

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
I think the key is to not forget that while quitting you-re at risk to gain weight. Post notes that say as much around your home, and especially on your fridge. When you feel the urge to eat (which is replacing the urge to smoke) satisfy it, but in a healthy way. Drink an entire glass of water or have carrots and celery cut and ready, so you can fill up guiltlessly. Keep lots of sugarfree gum around. Remember that YOU are in control of your body, YOU control what you consume, the cravings are just mindless responses to mindless chemicals, but YOU have the power to determine your response. Good luck!
People sometimes eat more when they quit smoking, in fact sometimes smokers will smoke because they are hungry the habit is reversed and people eat because they want to smoke. If you increase all your healthy habits, excersize, eaing fruits - veggies. You may even lose weight and the extra sweating will help you detox faster. Drink lots of water!
Smoking keeps you satisfied from hunger. my answer is you should-t have started
Replace your smoking habit with eating fresh fruits and vegetables and exercise. You won-t gain.
the whole storey pick better habbit

it can be start praying, it can be start counting blessings around us.

it can be start kissing mom hand... you may think nothing relate to smoking but its all in your mind.
That-s a great suggestion. However, the reason why some people gain wait when they quit smoking is because they eat a lot. Whenever they think of a cigarette, they just eat something thinking that will get it off their head but it doesn-t and the drama continues...
Nicotine is an appetite suppressant and smoking satisfies your oral urges. When you stop smoking, you need to keep your mouth busy - my mom chewed Trident - so you-re not just popping food in your mouth all the time. Also, I believe that using the patch will wean your body off the nicotine and help with the appetite issue - ask your doctor.
People often gain weight when they stop smoking because they are trying to find replacement habits for the one they are trying to stop. Since smoking involves a regular hand to mouth action, the most common replacement is eating ... and the more you eat, the more weight you tend to gain.
the reason people gain weight when they quit smoking is because they tend to eat unhealthy foods instead of smoking....when you quit smoking maintain a healthy eating habit and you won-t gain weight
Why do people gain weight when they quit smoking, I dont want too!? -

I-ve got to quit for surgery in 3 wks. I went and bought the patches but I-ve already smoked a couple this morning. Do I need to wait till tomorrow to wear one or can I wait an hour or 2 after smoking my last cigg. to put one on??
Just stop. cold turkey. Patches rarely work and only on some people.
you need willpower just think of what could happen if you keep smoking. Go to the library and pick out a book on smoking and what it does to your body, the pictures sometimes are enough to make you quit.

if all else fails, ask your doctor for a prescription to help you quit if its that important.
I-d check the directions. I quit by using the patch. Even though you take the patch off, there-s still nicotine in your system for hours. Smoking adds to that. You should be fine to slap one on as long as you don-t smoke while on them. Good luck, it-s just one of those grit and bear it things. Check out www.becomeanx.org for support if you want.
you can put the patches on when you like. Different things work for different people. Some peole quit with patches, some with gum, some using hypnosis. thats why you are going to get different answers. Start with the patches.
Tell everyone you are quitting so they do not offer you cigrettes or tempt you.
Good Luck

Deep Breathing Perhaps The Single Most Powerful And Important Technique: Every time you want a cigarette, do the following. Do it three times.

Inhale the deepest lung-full of air you can, and then, very slowly, exhale. Purse your lips so that the air must come out slowly. As you exhale, close your eyes, and let your chin gradually sink over onto your chest. Visualize all the tension leaving your body, slowly draining out of your fingers and toes, just flowing on out.

This is a variation of a yoga technique and is very relaxing. If you practice this, you-ll be able to use it for any future stressful situation you find yourself in. And it will be your greatest weapon during the strong cravings sure to assault you over the first few days.

2. Taking In Fluids:
The first few days, drink LOTS of water and fluids to help flush out the nicotine and other poisons from your body.

Remember that the urge to smoke only lasts a few minutes, and will then pass. The urges gradually become farther and farther apart as the days go by.

3. Stay Away From Alcohol, Sugar And Coffee
Do your very best to stay away from alcohol, sugar and coffee the first week or longer, as these tend to stimulate the desire for a cigarette. Avoid fatty foods, as your metabolism will slow down a bit without the nicotine, and you may gain weight even if you eat the same amount as before quitting. So discipline about diet is extra important now. No one ever said acquiring new habits would be easy!

Nibble on low calorie foods like celery, apples and carrots. Chew gum or suck on cinnamon sticks.

Stretch out your meals; eat slowly and wait a bit between bites.

After dinner, instead of a cigarette, treat yourself to a cup of mint tea or a peppermint candy.

4.Taking An Oral Substitute
In one study, about 25% of quitters found that an oral substitute was invaluable. Another 25% didn-t like the idea at all - they wanted a clean break with cigarettes. The rest weren-t certain.

One can use cinnamon sticks, chewing gum or artificial cigarettes as a substitute. You will mostly find that after the first week of being a non smoker, you wouldn’t even need these.

5. Get Exercising
Go to a gym, sit in the steam, exercise. Change your normal routine – take time to walk or even jog around the block or in the local park.

6.Pamper Yourself
Go ahead and join a yoga class or maybe reiki – they-re great! Get a one hour massage, take a long bath - pamper yourself. Get yourself involved in a hobby.

7. Ask For Support
Ask for support from co-workers, friends and family members. Ask for their tolerance. Let them know you-re quitting, and that you might be edgy or grumpy for a few days. If you don-t ask for support, you certainly won-t get any. If you do, you-ll be surprised how much it can help. Take a chance - try it and see!

Ask friends and family members not to smoke in your presence. Don-t be afraid to ask. This is more important than you may realize.

8. Destroy All Your Cigarettes
On your quit day, hide all ashtrays and destroy all your cigarettes, preferably with water, so no part of them is smokeable.

9. Write It Down
Write down ten good things about being a nonsmoker - and then write out ten bad things about smoking. Do it. It really helps.

10. Don’t Pretend
Don-t pretend smoking wasn-t enjoyable – it was. This is like losing a good friend – and it-s okay to grieve the loss. Feel that grief, don-t worry, it-s okay. Feel, and you heal. Stay with it - you can do it!

11. Affirm Yourself
Several times a day, quietly repeat to yourself the affirmation, -I am a nonsmoker.- Many quitters see themselves as smokers who are just not smoking for the moment. They have a self-image as smokers who still want a cigarette.

Silently repeating the affirmation -I am a nonsmoker- will help you change your view of yourself, and, even if it may seem silly to you, this is actually useful. Use it!

12. Holding Out
Here is perhaps the most valuable information among these points. In Phase 2, the period which begins a few weeks after quitting, the urges to smoke will subside considerably.

However, it-s vital to understand that from time to time, you will still be suddenly overwhelmed with a desire for -just one cigarette.- This will happen unexpectedly, during moments of stress, whether negative stress or positive (at a party, or on vacation). If you are unprepared to resist, succumbing to that -one cigarette- will lead you directly back to smoking.

Remember the following secret: in these surprise attacks during Phase 2 - and they will definitely come - do your deep breathing, and hold on for five minutes, and the urge will pass

Why not just stop entirely?

The die 10 years earlier sticks don-t give you anything. If you want to you can quit smoking it-s all about will power (or lack of it).
If you are really serious about quitting ask your doctor about prescription Chantix , I used it and after 31 years of smoking have been smoke free for almost two years now. I live in New York where a pack of cigs is like 6 or seven dollars so you can imagine the money I-m saving , good luck to you ...
Yes quit it now. The alternative could be DEATH. As to how to quit, apart from the advice others give, a person I know who smoked heavily did it by consulting a hypnotist, and she never smoked ever again for the rest of her life. See hypno therapy in your Yellow Pages for details of where to go.
u can put on now just dont smoke anymore

good luck

i need to quit to 9.00 a pack in NY is crazy!!!!!!!!!!
You can quit smoking in just 38 minutes and 13 seconds!

I recently quit smoking and now imm having side effects.? -

Hi, i recently quit smoking.. now imm tired.. dizzy... and crave them...what bothers me the most is.. that i cannot stop spitting... i dont know if this has to do with quiting smoking... but i keep spitting up this mucus right now..... people tolled me its cuz ur lungs are healing and all that bad stuff is unpealing.. is this true? and is there anything i can do about it? thanks
Congratulations on becoming a non-smoker. It will be the best gift you can give yourself. I didn-t stop soon enough but I am sure happy that you have. Having phlegm is very normal as your lungs are getting rid of the stuff. You may be able to help it with over the counter tablets called mucinex. You take like two a day and it thins the mucus so that it is easier to get rid of. I use it along with other lung meds to keep my lungs open. Knowing people who have stopped smoking I have a feeling the craving at times is always there but it gets weaker all the time. As far as being dizzy or tired that could be the result of sleeping patterns and also eating and drinking patterns that changed after you stopped. If those two continue you might want to talk to a doctor. Good luck and give yourself a pat on the back you just accomplished the hardest thing you will ever be faced with. Best of all you can now have a lady kiss you and want to come back for seconds cause you don-t taste and smell like a used ashtray.

How long will it take my withdrawl symptoms from quitting smoking to go away? -

I quit cold turkey 4 days ago and I craving a cigarette like you wouldn-t believe!.......I just turned 34 and figured I had better quit smoking before any permanent damage was done.....
Same here.

I quit at Christmas time. I still get the cravings once in a while.
The first three days were the worst for me.
It takes two weeks for the nicotine cravings to pass, then you have to get used to the habit of constantly putting something to your mouth. Kind of like biting nails.

How do I quit smoking for my wife? -

My wife has finally put her foot down and demands that I stop smoking, I guess I have to do it, she saidshe would personally satisfy my cravings, but how do I do it? The reward will be even greater than I could imagine for six months, but I need to learn what is the best, easiest and most effective method to do so?
Quitting smoking for any reason is a good reason, as long as you quit for good. By far the best treatment out there right now is a medicine called Chantix, which is something called a -nicotinic receptor agonist.- It fills up the nicotine receptors in the brain so you do not get any pleasure out of smoking. Most people stop after one week, or at least significantly decrease the number of cigarettes they smoke. Chantix doesn-t get rid of all the habits associated with smoking, but it gets rid of the main addiction. Then you take it for three months while you work through the other habits. And no, I don-t receive any financial gain or benefit in any other way by recommending it. Trust me on this.
The key thing here is whether YOU really want to give up! And when you get to the point where you WANT to then willpower takes over. I smoked 20 a day for 30 years and I knew it was making me ill, so I gave up nearly 2 years ago now just through willpower. You-ll be suprised at how good you feel and how proud of yourself you feel! Everyone has willpower - its just some of us choose not to use it!! Be strong and use yours!! Good luck hun! xx
a new wife mite be easier
if you cant give up.tell your wife i gave up already.and can i claim your reward?
I am sure you will hear this several times. You can not quit for your wife.

Do it for your self and make her happy at the same time.

You know you can do it.

Take each hour your not smoking as a success. The hours turn to day and before you know it its weeks. It does get easier.

But you have to want to.
Aw! That-s so sweet! You sound like you really love her to do this. Just I guess be strong and think of your -rewards- whenever you get a craving. I wish you all the luck!
By continuing smoking you are putting your wife-s health in jeopardy to,,,,so,,,you can see she shouldn-t suffer any more,,,,,
read the book Allen Carr-s Easyway to Stop Smoking, I read it as did all my family and friends and none of us smoke anymore

no withdrawal symtoms and it is really easy good luck
I had smoked for 10 years (I-m 25 now) and smoked about 2 packs a day (I know, eww) before quitting cold turkey about 2 months ago. This gum called Habitrol (Australian version of Nicorette) completely saved me. I had anxiety problems for about 3 weeks (not due to the gum, just the change), but now that is gone and I just plain feel better. After a lot of research on the subject, I realized that there are FAR more reasons to quit than just the physical effects. You don-t even realize it when you-re smoking, but, mentally, you are really screwing yourself up. I-d say try the gum (or any other variance) and quit now. Good luck!
I agree that quitting smoking should come from you, but anything counts.

I think the best thing - if you can - is to consult someone about the best ways for you. It could be that all you need is psychological support (or even not that, just a support group and the encouragement of your wife), but some also develop physical withdrawal symptoms.

Reward You eh? Anal perhaps? Maybe a swallow every now and then? I hope it-s worth it. Forget about a threesome with her sexy friend, it aint gonna happen.
you have to do it for your own reasons. if you dont want to quit you will go back to it.
there-s only one way to stop, and that is stop. don-t be fooled by all the crap adverts, they just want you to part with your money, you still need will power and agood reason to stop. do it for nothing mate, it will make you proud. do plenty of exercise too.
i no you have been asked to do it by someone important to you, but if you try it for that reason alone, you will fail. the only reason that giving up smoking can be succesful is because you have decided you want to be ciggy free, theres some that say that having that thought set in your mind alone is enough to beat any craving. would definitely consider things like meditation/tai chi etc before looking at nicotine medication. just an opinion, hope it helps, good luck.
I do not think any method would be easy. Try the patch. I-m not crazy about the gum, tobacco is such a lead causer of so many cancers that chewing it will just add to the list your already at high risk for. You have to want it to achieve it. Hold your wife to her word. Also try taking up exercise. Smoking eases people stress, exercise will give you and out for it. Another fact smoking has been linked to depression. It-s going to take three months or so before you stop having full cravings. The more you relapse the harder it will be. If you cant do cold turkey with a patch, trying cutting what you smoke in half, give that a few days then cut down again. Then finish by going full turkey and use patch-s needed be. Good luck! You can always speak to a doctor if your having a serious problem with withdrawals there are pills to help. Good luck.
Only your own wish to give up your smoking will be sucessful. Do it for yourself or let it be.
