plus a great guaranteed course you can do to make the whole process easier on yourself.
You will quit when you are almost dead.
You have to really mean it. I tried a -thousand- times and couldn-t. Then I started getting the smoker-s cough (after only 14 years of it) and the thought of emphysema scared the crap out of me, and I also figured I could save money (well, put it in my gas tank, now). Bought the generic -patch-, went through minor with-drawls, slept whenever I could so I wouldn-t crave, and finally did it.

Feb. 20, 2006 to today (and hopefully forever) -- smoke free. But the bottom line is this -- YOU REALLY HAVE TO DECIDE TO QUIT. PERIOD. Otherwise, that -just one- will lead to two packs a day.

And the urge still hits me. Out of the blue, for no reason, I-ll think -I want a cigarette-. Just try to think of something else and it usually goes away after a minute.

Good luck.
Quitting smoking is one of the most important things you will ever do:

You will live longer and live better

The people you live with, especially your children, will be healthier.

You will have extra money to spend on things other than cigarettes

Set a quit date.

Change your environment.

Get rid of ALL cigarettes and ashtrays in your home, car, and place of work.

Don-t let people smoke in your home.
Review your past attempts to quit. Think about what worked and what did not.

Once you quit, don-t smoke—NOT EVEN A PUFF!

Tell your family, friends, and co-workers that you are going to quit and want their support

Get individual, group, or telephone counseling. The more counseling you have, the better your chances are of quitting. Programs are given at local hospitals and health centers. Call your local health department for information about programs in your area

Try to distract yourself from urges to smoke. Talk to someone, go for a walk, or get busy with a task.

When you first try to quit, change your routine. Use a different route to work. Drink tea instead of coffee. Eat breakfast in a different place.

Do something to reduce your stress. Take a hot bath, exercise, or read a book.

Plan something enjoyable to do every day.

Drink a lot of water and other fluids.

Am glad you thought of quitting cigarettes.
My best wishes. Live happy.
first you have to have a true desire to want to quit. then you must find somthing to replace this activity. people gain weight because they eat, don-t eat more unless you eat fruits and vegtables, the best is to maybe eat carrot or celery sticks because then you hace taht feeling of somthing in your hand. avoid smokey bars and don-t go outside with the other smokers on breaks. until you have totoay quit as long as you have urges you will relaps but once the smell of ciggerette smoke smells disgutung then you are ready. and join a support group of friends and all try and quit together and maybe even make a small bet. but a doller in a jar for every ciggerette you bum off some one while you are trying to quit. and use that money for somthing nice foryourself.
