What is the easiest way to quit smoking? -

I-m looking to kick the smokes... Any ideas?
the gum thats speccaily made to stop my mom - dad quit with it i wish you luck ;)
I got the book American Lung Association 7 Steps to a Smoke-Free Life from my library and I couldnt have done it w/o it. You have to change the way you think about smoking and this book helps you do it. For example, I always thought of what I-d be giving up...not what I-d be gaining. My other thing was learning about being vigilant and how your mind plays tricks on you. I also used the patch. I had to quit many time to learn what made me keep going back...jan 1st will be 2 years that I-ve been free, its the best thing I ever -gave up-. Good luck, life is much better once you get over the hump.
Hi Jay,

The answer to quit smoking, is not to quit. The answer is to start smoking a healthy cigarette. I am smoking a Greensmoke cigarette, it has no cancer causing substances, no ash, no secondhand smoke, no bad smells, no tobacco, and you can choose with nicotine or without.

Hope it helps.
I did it cold turkey.
I would eat an orange every time I had a craving for a cigarette.
It wasn-t the craving for nicotine so much as it was that I needed something to do with my hands.
Get angry at the tobacco companies for adding all those chemicals to help addict you...show them ur stronger that those farg-arses.

Start running, biking, whatever, do somethin GOOD for ur lungs. Hang out w/ non-smokers. Quit doing anything that lowers ur resistance or remnids u of ciggy-butt time.
I went cold turkey in -96 (no patch) and had to quit drinking beer, pop and coffee...all associated w/ smoking - 4 me. On the crapper...read a magazine (if you tended to lite up there?)

If u get drunk you will smoke! Stay away from alcohol!

Get a video gaming station...or spend time on the one u have...a great distractor.

Got a GF? Talk her into MORE SEX (especially if she-s a non-smokers and WANTS u to quit.)

Ciggy-butts were the most addicting thing I-ve ever done. For me they were worse than cocaine. It took me a year to stop dreaming about them and get on w/ my life...I smoked for 24 yrs and started VERY young.
We are creatures of impulse, desire, poor long term planning, and all the bad traits companies rely on to make their sale. But if you-ve ever made a painful decision to say no to buying something, in exchange for some long term gain, you know what a mature delay in gratification can benefit you. Opting to save for tuition instead of buying designer jeans is a good example So is opting to stick with your crappy-looking buy efficient cellular phone, instead of getting a shiny and sleek iPhone. So is the decision to stop smoking to prevent medical complications from happening to you, and costing you tons of dollars; not to mention preventing you from living a healthy life.

If you-ve been following the logic of the foregoing, then you already have a clear picture of what it takes to stop smoking. The best way to do it is to fully understand giving it up costs you, what not taking part in that hip and addictive habit will end you up with, and how much discomfort, for a time, quitting would mean, physically, emotionally, mentally.

Will power is the best way. The problem is this method requires your soul to understand, to want to stop smoking altogether. A pregnant mother decides to quit drugs when the medical checkups showed her baby was declining in health while in her womb. A father goes gambling-sobber after his eldest straight-A daughter failed to pay her student loans. A single mom decides to devote more time at home, and leave her night life, when she notices how much her son needs her.

We just need to find a reason. Our will power will provide the strength to get us through our nicotine addiction. It will not be easy. And those who try to quit end up relapsing unless they are convinced, to their bones, that they want to quit. Maybe not for themselves, but for the sake of someone else. A son, a mother, a husband.

Those who go through this, suffer the pains of withdrawal, and emerge addiction-free, report that they feel like having been a different person when they had their addiction. Different from the person that emerged from the addiction. Like it was all a bad dream, or memories of a person just trying to make do with her naive worldview.

The thing about quitting smoking through willpower is that you need no rationalizations. You stop smoking because, insert reason here. And you see that reason as inevitable, as true regardless of anyone else who listens to you. Like a mathematical fact. True, regardless how much you rationalize against it, whine about it.

You will receive all sort of discouragement. Most people have smoking buddies and the media is filled with ads encouraging a life incomplete without a puff. But these will not hamper you if you know in your bones you want to quit because you have to. Not want to. That there are compelling reasons outside one-s selfish circle of reasons that demand you to be better than who you are.

So if you want some non-hypocritical reason to stop smoking. There it is. Find a reason. The methods won-t matter as much as long as you will is convinced you have to quit. You will emerge a better person for this.
The patch and keep your hands busy.
watch the movie harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban. it always helps me in my time of need. or try listening to mariah carey-s christmas album.
Haha...I remember the days when I was on the hunt for a pain free way to quit. I have been a non-smoker now for almost 2 years! I smoked for 8. I think the biggest thing is that you are ready. You have to be doing it for all of the right reasons, and those only you can decide. But even when that motivation is there, in my opinion you need help. I first tried the gum. It worked, totally took the edge off, and I chewed about 30 peices a day even though they say no more than 9 I think. BUT, I was spending just as much on the gum as I was on cigerettes which made me mad. And, after I chewed the gum for about 7 months, I tried to stop and immediatly picked up a ciggerette. See, the thing was that i was still addicted to nicotine. So, I ended up smoking for about 5 months after that and then I really had to quit because I found out i was pregnant. This time I wanted an all natural product, not only because I had to but also becaue I didnt want to go stay on nicotine and have the same thing happen as last time. I used smoke deter. it worked great for me but there are lots of different products on the market. Read some reviews and possible try one of them out. Here is a great site I foudn that does all of the research for you www.firstproductreview.com. And here is another review I found one the product I used. www.squidoo.com/quit_smoking_products_re…

Good luck!
