How did you quit smoking? -

I have quit twice trying to make that step and do it again..help!
hi Michelle

well congrats on your decision.. whatever you do, don-t quit quitting.. i smoked for over 40 years, and had a number of failed attempts to quit.. the only thing i found that helped me, was the support of others, in a support group.. i am a member of nicotine anonymous, and attend meetings both locally, and on line... meetings are as close as your computer.. as well as great support!!!... good luck on your quitting, in the end there is really no wrong way to quit..

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.
Pick a meaningful date 2 weeks or more from now like th fist of the month. Then count down every day by putting the # of days left till you quit on a slip of paper on your pack, or where you will see it every morning. This will give your brain time to accept the fact that your quiting. On the last day throw the remaining cigaretts away. Realize it-s gonna be tough but you can do it and you-ve been mentally preparing for two weeks, every time you want to give in tell yourself I really want to quit and it-s not going to be any easier later if I don-t do it now. Good luck.
