If I quit smoking today, how long would it take to feel human again? -

At 2 weeks I already felt much better and cravings were much less intense. At 1 month I think I actually felt human again. Good Luck!
Look, if your addicted then you will never feel completely normal, You will always have a subtle craving for a smoke. But don-t be discouraged, the first 2 weeks are the absolute worst, if you can get past that you are on the right track.
What were you smoking that made you feel inhuman? And where can I get some?!
Within 12 hours after you have your last cigarette, your body will begin to heal itself. The levels of carbon monoxide and nicotine in your system will decline rapidly, and your heart and lungs will begin to repair the damage caused by cigarette smoke.

Within a few days you will probably begin to notice some remarkable changes in your body. Your sense of smell and taste may improve. You will breathe easier, and your smoker-s hack will begin to disappear, although you may notice that you will continue to cough for a while. And you will be free from the mess, smell, inconvenience, expense, and dependence of cigarette smoking.

As your body begins to repair itself, instead of feeling better right away, you may feel worse for a while. It-s important to understand that healing is a process-shyp;it begins immediately, but it continues over time. These -withdrawal pangs- are really symptoms of the recovery process.

Immediately after quitting, many ex-smokers experience -symptoms of recovery- such as temporary weight gain caused by fluid retention, irregularity, and dry, sore gums or tongue. You may feel edgy, hungry, more tired, and more short-tempered than usual and have trouble sleeping and notice that you are coughing a lot. These symptoms are the result of your body clearing itself of nicotine, a powerful addictive chemical. Most nicotine is gone from the body in 2-3 days.
couple of months, then you can smell the nasty smoke on other people... yuck!
From my own experience three days of feeling bad and mad at everyone---Then you should began to feel better--- find something to do after eating or drinking---change your habits do a lot of walking.
depends. how long you have been smoking? and how frequently?
No one mentions the severe withdrawals and cravings. Do yourself a favor honey, get yourself a nicotine patch, it helps a great deal.
At 20 minutes after quitting:
blood pressure decreases
pulse rate drops
body temperature of hands and feet increases.

At 8 hours:
carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal
oxygen level in blood increases to normal

At 24 hours:
chance of a heart attack decreases

At 48 hours:
nerve endings start regrowing
ability to smell and taste improve

Between 2 weeks and 3 months:
circulation improves
walking becomes easier
lung function increases

Between 1- 9 months there are significant improvements in:
coughing
sinus congestion
fatigue
shortness of breath

At 1 Year smoke free:
excess risk of coronary heart disease is decreased to half that of a smoker

At 5 years smoke free:
from 5 to 15 years after quitting tobacco, stroke risk is reduced to that of people who have never smoked.

At 10 years smoke free:
risk of lung cancer drops to as little as one-half that of continuing smokers
risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decreases
risk of ulcer decreases

At 15 years smoke free:
risk of coronary heart disease is now similar to that of people who have never smoked
risk of death returns to nearly the level of people who have never smoked

I was just wondering if ya-ll knew how it happened as well as how I can change it and maintain a regular eating habit once again?
Thanks!
hey Kibbles ..

congratulations on quitting, that-s a biggie...the good news is that you quit!! the weight isn-t really all that bad a news, most folks put on a few -new quit pounds- when quitting... the good news is that its usually temporary.. the folks in support groups have a saying -the weight can wait-.. in fact unless one is morbidly obese the benefits of quitting smoking out weigh the weight considerations

i see where others have mentioned the hand to mouth thing.. that is part of it, the other thing is that food just tastes better, when you have your sense of smell..also there are subtle changes in your metabolism that contribute.. many of us munch on low calorie stuff, like baby carrots, sunflower seeds are another favorite, as well as salted roasted in the shell peanuts..(a good multivitamin doesn-t hurt )..

you may note that i have mentioned support groups... i found that it was very helpful, for mysel,f to be involved with other quitters, as well as folks who had some solid recovery time behind them.. they answered a lot these kinds of questions.. i am a member of nicotine anonymous and attend meetings both locally and on line.. on line voice meetings are as close as your computer..

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.
Okay well I-m not 100% sure on this, but this is what I have been told.

When you smoked, your hand constantly moved from a resting position to your mouth, your mouth opened, you took in, then closed your mouth, and released.

in the same way, when you eat, your hand connstantly moves from a resting position to your mouth, you open your mouth, take in food, close mouth, and exhale.

so the motions are similar, and therefore your body replaces one with the other.

this is perfectly normal for someone giving up smoking, however if you don-t stop soon, it will result in mass weight gain.

how you get out, is your own choosing.
hey I just gave up smoking 8 days ago and have had similar problems. My only advice is to treat the new found addiction (which is what it really is) the same way you quit smoking. Think of a piece of chocolate cake like one cigarette. You knew after having just one relapse of smoking, it shouldn-t mean that you necessarily failed yourself. It just means that you start over. It-s not easy, but figure out how many calories you need in a day and do not exceed that number. Be sure to have a light breakfast and lunch and a normal dinner. Try drinking water or chewing gum, anything but smoking or having another bagel. And understand that if you eat a slice of chocolate cake, it-s not the end of the world. Just hop back in the saddle the next day.

good luck to you!
oral fixation;; ya need to find something else to do with your mouth...- if ya don-t work, get a job (few these days will give ya cig breaks)...

Quit smoking now my lungs hurt? -

I quit smoking about 2 weeks ago, I had a hard time breathing so I quit. It seems now since I quit I still breath the same, but my lungs hurt worse than they ever have. Is that normal when you quit smoking
I-ve never smoked, but numerous friends of mine who smoked for years and finally quit all went through exactly what you describe. It-s perfectly normal. Your lungs are clearing themselves out of all the gunk that-s been building up in them, and it may take them a while to adjust. For the friends I speak of, this phase varied from a few weeks to a few months from person to person. But not one of them regretted it once they got past that stage. They were all amazed at how much better they felt in the end. Stay with it, don-t give up.
1.Your lungs need time to clear up. They will never be 100% clear but they will hopefully get better with time.
2.You may have developed asthma.
See a doctor
Your lungs are used to the tar and the smoke that you inhaled everyday. Now that you have quit, they are pretty upset that you don-t smoke anymore...
I made your lungs sound like they have a mind of their own...sorry!
i think you should consult your doctor about this, but well done for quitting, dont give up giving up
I am a smoker and i quit before so i went thought same thing you did. I experienced chronic coughing and chest pains and i was goin nutz all along. That is part of a processes when you clearing your system from this particular drug. Cigarettes is like a drug that have a lot of bad stuff and because you go through certain uncomfortable conditions at this moment shouldnt be an excuse to start back up. You doing good. Good luck!
yes u may even cough up a lil blood after u quit as well its all the tar coming out of u from the cigs
Not normal. Maybe your lungs are expanding more than they are used to. Regardless go to the Dr right now and hopefully they will order xrays and pulmonary function studies to make sure you are ok. Good luck!
Yes, the damage has been done...
you see i know this guy who quit smoking for about 2 weeks, then he had a smoke, he said that ppl on yahoo answers said that the burning would go away if he had a smoke. I beg to differ. It might have something to do with your car, but again, i-m not an expert, its just my opinion.
It is perfectly normal. Your lungs are now purging all of the crap that you breathed in for how ever long you smoked.

You may have coughing fits as they work to push out all of the pollutants.
Don-t be alarmed at the amount of stuff you cough up. Once this passes, you-ll be glad you did it.
call your doctor.and good you quit,as long as you put your mind to it you can do anything.*
Looks like some sort of withdrawl. If you smoke again, then lungs hurting will eventually become cancer or emphasyma. Are there any patches or tobacco gun available? That should help with the cravings.
you may have done some kind of damage to your lungs. go to the doc
Talk to a doctor and have your chest x-rayed
yup,,start up it will fix it............geezzz!
Whenever I quit smoking (I used to smoke for years, and I-d take a break here and there for months at a time) it would hurt much worse at first. My cough would get worse and I would just feel terrible. But it passes and then you wake up feeling amazing, and fresh! So keep it up and don-t ever start it up again! Bravo to you! :)
it because you us to smoke
No. Go to the doctor.
Your body needs to get used to that you have quit smoking. Your lungs maybe are damaged already, you should go to the doctor and he will performed some test to check everything. Remember that your lungs are responsible to exhale the CO2 gas and they are our air purifiers.
I-m not sure about the pain, but if your lungs were huting before, it makes sense that they still might be. I also quit smoking recently, and it seemed that for the 1st 4 weeks, I felt like I had a worsening cough. Basically, it was just my body trying to get rid of all the guck that-s in there. During the 1st few months, you-ll notice slight changes...but better ones also. Taste, smell, etc. Here-s a link that might shed some light.:

http://quitsmoking.about.com/cs/afterqui…

If your still worried about it though, I-d go see a health professional. You never can be too careful with your health, especialy with all the problems attributed to smoking. Good Luck, and Congratulations!
Please do not start smoking again. Your difficulty will go away in another week . Drink plenty of water and try relaxing.
It is just a passing face. great that you decided to quit smoking. Never Give Up!!!!!!Good luk ,Keep going firm, regards

How to quit smoking? -

I have been smoking for 18 years now and I do want quit, but it is so hard to give up the habit. I have tried cold turkey, medicine, (which worked for cutting back) and nicotine patches and gum. What can I do to quit for good?
Take the pill Chantix. You only have to take two a day and they work. Also,go to learntoquit.org
i dont smoke but those around me that did when they quit they did it cold turkey.

my granny started chew bubble gum
my aunt saw my baby sister put a crayon in to imatate her

scare tactets seem to work
slowly cut down say forinstance you smoke 20 a day do 1 or 2 weeks of 18 then one or two weeks of 16 and go down and down by 2

hope this helps:)
Nicotine takes 48 hours to leave your system despite what the major money makers would have you believe. I used one tube of the Committ lozenges to quit the nicotine addiction. After that it-s in your head. I put one bead (a favorite one of mine) and tied to an elastic on my wrist. Every time I got a craving I snapped it against my wrist bone. Takes your mind off the craving. I had quit for about two weeks and then used hypnosis to reinforce myself.
Best of luck.
Eat lots of onion. It has two benefits , 1: you will quit smoking as well as you blood will get purified.

Its a home remidy

I have tried patches but my hands get bored, I tried going cold turkey but find it stressful, have tried self help books and cant afford hypnotherapy! Where can I get an incentive from?! please dont say get pregnant coz I don-t want kids!
THE EASIEST WAY IS OF COURSE EASYWAY!!

Easyway – Allen Carr.

Honestly it is the only way I have ever known to actually help people quite, stay quit and be damn happy about it...unfortunately most people think the idea of an easy way to quit smoking is nonsense as people think it needs to be hard…it really doesn-t.

This does exactly what it says, it is an easy way to stop smoking, and the way it works is essentially by de-programming the ingrained notions you have on smoking and quitting smoking so that it deals with the psychological problems of your smoking rather than the chemical. The chemical addiction is not the problem, you can go all night without being woken up by a craving, you will find sometimes you-re having so much fun you forget to have a cigarette, quitting smoking does not have serious withdrawal.

Socially we are taught that smoking needs to be difficult, we live now in a very anti-smoking society, rather than a pro-quitting society, where there is no real support for people to quit, it teaches non-smokers that smokers are idiots and smokers that they have to suffer when they quit – if you believe it is difficult, this makes quitting smoking difficult – you believe to quit smoking requires will power and that quitting smoking will be depriving yourself of something you like doing, when you do not really like doing it, nor are you depriving yourself of anything, you are actually gaining something by quitting smoking.

Problem with most methods is that they will either involve going cold-turkey or nicotine replacement. Cold-turkey is not only depriving yourself of smoking but it is also just dealing with the chemical addiction rather than dealing with the psychological, nicotine replacement isn-t depriving you however it is again only dealing with the chemical addiction, this is not the problem with smoking.

Allen Carr can explain this far better than I can, so let me just stick to telling you about Easyway – yes, it sounds gimmicky but it is the only way I have ever seen anyone quit smoking for good, and the only method to quit smoking that I have seen people happy with rather than being moody miserable and remaining under the impression that they need to fight the urge to smoke every day for the rest of their lives.

A book on Easyway from Amazon will set you back just £4, less than a pack of cigarettes, the book also offers money off their clinics – their clinics boast well over 90% success rate and give you a money-back guarantee – so that is just £4 you are spending for something that will help you quit smoking, be happy about quitting smoking and remain a non-smoker.

Not only that but you are allowed to carry on smoking while you are reading the book, in fact you are specifically told to carry on smoking while you read and the further you get into the book the less you want to smoke.

Check out the book reviews;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/01410…

You really don-t know unless you try it, I honestly recommend this to everyone I know, a lot of people are too scared to try it because they aren-t ready to quit yet, but all those who have read it agree it is fantastic and the only sensible way to go about quitting smoking.

in my experience.... not me but a lot of friends at work at the moment latest trend it would seem) they have all tried patches, gum, inhaler etc etc. to no avail and end up smoking again. the ones that have succeeeded have gone cold turkey. chosen a day and done it. yes stressfull probably but get thru it. remember.. you can do it. you sleep for 8 hours a night without getting a craving!!!!
the same problem : )
it sounds like you need to visit a hospital or maybe you no some one with chronic enpozima. I use to smoke about 13 years ago but I had to take care of my mother in law and I watched her die of a slow death from smoking she died at the age of 52 I had taken care of her for 5 years before I saw her take her very last breath. After that I put them down she died with 1/4 if her lungs left. If that don-t wake you up nothing will. You have to have the want to the desire to stop not just words.
Years ago, a good friend of mine shared her success `story- with me; and because it was a good one; I-ll tell you what she said to me; she basically got some big bottles of Vitamin C (the chewable sort - orange or lemon flavoured) and every time she -got the urge- she popped on in her mouth and sucked on it. EVERY TIME. She said that not only did she successfully give up smoking; but the Vitamin C killed the urge to eat and so she had been able to do it WITHOUT gaining weight!
Good one, eh?? Hope this may be of some help to YOU in your efforts to do a very survival thing for yourself!!! Go for it.
shear will power that-s how I did it.
look at pictures of cancer-filled lungs etc.
hi i smoked for 30 years and know what it is like about the hands i used the new inhaler type of therapy which involves a thing you can inhale on with a nicotine capsule inside it. it worked for me after i got of the nicotine i continued to use an empty biro just to suck on and pretend to inhale on sounds daft but it worked! regards jet
use yr willpower, if muslims can stop during there holy month of Ramadhan(respectively - there fasting period), then why can-t we?
whenever you feel like smoking just do something else. drink juice or chew a gum. this way you-ll get rid of smoking...but this doesnt mean that now u become addicted to chewing gum or smthing...gud luck..
You have to have -will power-, if you truly want to quit smoking, without that, it-s almost hopeless. You can do it, I know you can. Good Luck.
you can get a object like a cigarette holder that you put a little capsule in ,this may help ,good luck and don`t give up trying
Quiting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. In order to stop smoking, you have to break the habits associated with smoking. If you smoke after you drink or eat, that-s a habit you-ve associated with smoking. You need to break that habit of wanting to smoke after eating, but that is much more difficult said than done. If you smoke socially, you might want to get away from the friends that smoke.
One thing that might help is to realize how bad smoking is to your health. Do a little research and see what all that tar and noxious chemicals do to your body, and it gets to be scary.
When you find out will you let me know? thanks !!
maybe you should just take these kind of pills that is what i did. no. i do not know what they are called
take medicine. my dad sells it and it helps. its chantix. also try something 2 keep ur hand busy like eating fat free chips
i smoked 1 1/2 -2 packs a day for 17 years. I stopped 2 years ago. I used the smokeaway product.
http://www.smokeaway.com/ It is a lot of pills but it really worked. You have to have the true desire to quit, it is not easy. at least check out this web site. good luck
p.s. let me know how it goes or if you need any support
if u find the answer tell us plzzz.
I think Cold Turkey is the best way, I have previously quit for one year and four months using that, but then used stress and exuse! Stress and cigs have nothing in common it doesnt make u feel more relaxed it just gives you the fix for your addiction.

I am going to attempt it this new year again, and what helped me last time was when I was getting very strong urges I would walk round the block once and when I got back in the house the craving was gone!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quit_Smokin…

you dont need anything but determination, its all in your mind, you been smoking to the point where you feel you need it to releive your stress but you dont need anything but god you are just used to smoking and its hard for you to break that habit. if people can quit smoking crack cold turkey you can quit, but it all depends on how much you are determined. cause its all in the mind, for example if you somewhere and you needed to take a puff but noticed a sign that said all smokers in this area will be fined $200.00 will you still smoke? course not but you see my point?! you have more control than you think! OK! GOOD LUCK SWEETIE!
Sex!!!
stop buying cigs.
Drink orange juice....it-s supposed to flush the nicotine out of your system faster. Try finding something to do with your hands, draw, knit, do crosswords...anything to keep your hands busy. Lollipops seem to help with the oral fixation part. Good luck!!
why dont you try puting a cigerette in a bottle wet it a bit and smell it when ever you get the urge or just try gum.

Tell her to drink more coffee. Caffeine acts on the same pleasure centers in your brain as nicotine. It should be a good substitute.
There is a new drug on the market called Chantix. It works. Some prescription companies are starting to cover it. If she really wants to quit it will work! It is kinda expenseive at first but its well worth it in the end.
NO SUBSTITUTES! just get her a book. best $15 you-ll ever spend. worked on me, and i didn-t even want to quit! lol

I cut back from smoking a pack or so a day to smoking 1 or 2 cigarettes every couple of days.
If you-re strong willed, you could as well just stop completely without spending a dime. You-ve already shown this attribute by cutting down previously. Take the bold step. The urge would surely be there but you can overcome it.
Cheers
Cold turkey?

Drink water or take slow deep breaths or take a walk when you get the urge to smoke. That shouldn-t cost you anything.
Don-t hang out with people that smoke and after you eat brush your teeth and put in a piece of gum.

I quit after 20 years. Mine was:

My boy, 1.5 years old, stopped hugging me after I smoked, he hated the smell. So, one day (1 year ago), I quit cold turkey.
my kids...my son was getting asthma from my smoking, the doctor asked if we smoked and when I told him yes, but outside the house he told us that it didn-t matter because it was still on our clothes and bodies and it was making my son sick. I bought the nicotine patch and quit that day, 5 years ago...he hasn-t had asthma since
I realized it controlled me and I hate being controlled.
Well is it working? Whatever works best for you
The most easy and effective one is:

I dont HAVE to smoke.

Like you almost everybody smoking knows that cigs smell bad. Also you realize that you are hooked - you always -need- to have a pack and a lighter with you. And you always come accross people that mind smoking.

Simply become aware that -though smoking is somewhat comforting- you do not HAVE to smoke but can do it later and that life is easier if you dont have to smoke.
Avoid thinking along terms such as: -I may never smoke again- I will miss smoking- or -I have to stop-.

All these thoughts make smoking look like a reward thats being denied and it makes quitting worse.
Positive thinking makes everything easier, even quitting to smoke.
wow good job!!!

I quit over 5 years ago during a bad case of bronchitis. I had set a quit date for about 6 months after that, but a friend asked, -Why not stop now?-

I was tired of smoking even when I was too sick to do anything else. I threw away all my cigarettes and haven-t smoked since.

My quit date is March 9, 2001.

Liz
My younger brother asked me to. And I hated trying to hide from my nieces and nephews, whom I refeused to see me smoking. I didn-t want to be a bad influence for them, they tend to do a lot of what Tia Ely does. So I quit. 3 years and running!
The doctor, my husband - a few other people told me you-ll never quit.
I was so mad that, that made me quit.

I have just recently quit smoking, any good ideas to help? -

-Hi JimmyNate-,

Congratulations 1st off!

One day at a time is the motto for AA groups - we all know this addiction.
Chew gum, sun flower seeds, tootsie pops, exercise, drink plenty of cold water ( with either lemon or limes added to it), veggies, fruit,
chew on a straw (no calories that way), hard candies, avoid anything you associated with smoking (coffee, booze, meals - funerals were the hardest for me), find places that are smoke free, join a group for support - sometimes encouragement-American Cancer Society has list of cessations places you can go too. It-s you need to find something to do with your hands-try knitting, painting etc. My physcian told me trying to quit smoking is like withdrawing from herion. I used the patch 1st, then Wellbutrin, then Zyban - finally the Nasal spray Nictrol. I made 2 years then lost 2 family members - a good friend. I-ll tell you this 1 puff leads to 1 cigarette, then a pack, then a carton. And yes I smoke but not 3 packs a day any more, have tried 3 times - will continue to try, I 1st quit in 2004. Good luck - I hope you make it a life time. Have a good day. :0)
Hi -JimmyNate-,

Thanks for the rating - good luck it-s really harder than anything I-ve every done. Have a good day. :0)

chew gum.
eat sunflower seeds.
snack on little things everytime you feel like a cig -3
i quit smoking over 30 years ago, but I allow myself, if I feel like it, to smoke the third Tuesday evening of each month (I have a group of friends that meets then). I haven-t smoked more than a dozen times or so in all those years, in fact not at all in about six or seven years, but if I ever do feel like it I can, for that one evening. This way I never have to quit for more than a month at a time, which is light years easier than quitting for my whole life, and easier to climb back on the wagon afterwards too.
exercise, eat well, chew gum, and suck on hard candies
start chewing gum that might help..every time you get a craving for a smoke get a stick of gum instead..
huuurrrraaaayyyy to you. if you ever want to smoke again, make sure to smoke a brand that you really hate!! NOT your favorit brand!! and if you fail to stay clean, try again and again and again
best of luck
Congratulations! One Day At a Time works for AA and for anyone who is trying to deal with addictions, and smoking is one of the most addictive. There are lots of free stop smoking (smoking cessation) groups available. Contact your local American Cancer Society, or your local hospital or health clinic for local information. Some states even offer free help (patches, information, support groups) for those who are quitting. Exercise, even just walking, is a great benefit when changing lifestyles, with TONS of benefits. Have lots of fresh, prepared vegatables READY and available. Find something to do with your hands. Have water available that-s cole (in your -fridge) to keep hydrated. Find a buddy for a support system. Keep track of your succes on a calendar. And if a day (24 hours) is too long, make a brick wall drawing, and color-in a brick for each hour (or minute!) you have been smoke-free. You-ll have a visual that shows just how much progress you-ve made. Create a healthy reward system for yourself, like a massage, or a new pair of walking shoes for each week you-re smoke free. Remember, the way to -eat and elephant- is -one bite at a time-! Hang in there. If you -slip-, get right back -on- your focus. Every moment is another opportunity to make a -good- choice! Some people benefit from saying affirmations; remember to -say- it as if it-s already completed...ie. I AM smoke-free and live a healthy lifestyle. Good luck

How much weight will I gain after quitting smoking? -

How much weight will I gain after quitting smoking? -

I quit smoking over 24 hours ago. I am female. 5-6- about 135lbs. I have never been overweight a day in my life. I only gained 22 lbs when i was pregnant and lost it all after the baby. I know excersize and eat right, but if i do these things now matter what am I going to gain weight after quiting smoking?
I quit 5 years ago and I didn-t gain any weight - but I did start exercising and eating better when I quit. I think sometimes people replace smoking with food and blame quitting smoking on thier weight gain. Keep up the good work - it will be worth it.
people normally gain weight after they quit smoking because they replace cigarettes with food.
i quit once, but i was pregnant, so i dont really know how much weight gain was just from not smoking.
lets just say i gain 50+ lbs when i was pregnant. 10lbs within the 1st month (which i blame on quitting) But i started back up after my son was 3 months old. (hes almost 4 now, and i am still smoking)
a lady in my office quit a few months ago, and i would say she has probably gained about 10-15lbs from what she has talked about.
if you can fight replacing smoking for food, stay on your diet and keep exercising then you should be okay.

good luck!
I didn-t gain any weight.. but that is because I am taking Chantix. It stops that craving sensation you get from withdrawals. This also is why you eat so much when you quit you are trying to replace it. The Chantix does make me a bit tired but it gets better. And do not take it on an empty stomach! It has been the only way i-ve been able to quit smoking.
It depends a lot on your body makeup. Yours sounds ok to me. When I stopped 7 years ago I gained very little but everyday life and work got rid of it. Good luck and keep the willpower up.
if you eat to get away from smoking, well you know what the out come will be
sorry.. i dont get your question.

I have to pass a blood drug test...in about 6 weeks...last smoked in the last 2 days...do I have a chance?
Most likely you will pass as long as you don-t do it until after the test in 6 weeks. It also depends on your body weight, the bigger you are the longer it stays in your system. Just drink a lot of water also. Good Luck!
THC stays in ur urine for up to 30 days but it will be out of your blood system within 3 to 5 days. So you WILL pass your test.
If you DO NOT toke again you will be OK in 6 weeks. It-ll hang in your system at LEAST 30 days. You-re done, OK?
Yes. No problem

Every person is different it is hard to say. How long the THC stays in your system depends on a persons weight, the last time they smoked, how much they smoked, the concentration of THC, how their metabolism is, how much body fat they have. Maybe you should try not smoking pot when you know you get tested, especially blood test. It-s called responsibility.
90 days max...stop smoking now and do a lot of fat burning workouts and drink a LOT of water...
You should be OK. It should be out of your system in 30 days.

Can someone give me more reasons to quit smoking? -

Can someone give me more reasons to quit smoking? -

I know for fact it causes lung cancer, it cost lots money, smells awful, can make my teeth yellow, im looking for more reasons to quit so i can make a commitment to quit.
No one can convince you to quit...you have to want to do it...I smoked since I was 17, then I got pregnant at 19 and quit the entire time I was pregnant...then started again after my daughter was born..I made the decision to quit for her...I didn-t want her born with lung problems....so, its all up to you...
Now businesses and cities are becoming smoke-free. You-ll have to go outside during any kind of weather to smoke.
it can really screw up your lungs, its bad for your blood cells because they stop reproducing, because co2 stays stuck to them, causing them to not work as good as they would, it affects your taste in food, it just does not taste the same, it borders others around you, every cigarette you smoke supposedly takes 11minutes from your life, its bad for the health of your kids (if you have some), and if your pregnant, its really bad for your baby, because it goes into his blood to, causing his blood cells to not work probably, causing him to be underweight when hes born, and lastly, its just nasty, it smell and it taste real bad, so just quit and you-ll do yourself a big favor.
every cigarette you smoke apparently takes away 11 minutes of your life... read it in a magazine lol
My friend Helen died of lung cancer just a couple of weeks ago.
do you have a family.. like a spouse and kids..if so..quit..they wouldnt want you to die becuase of a stupid habit..if you dont have a spouse and kids..quit so once you do get married and have kids..they know you-ll live to see them grow up.
Cancer in the face and emphysema. Or cancer of the tongue.
And add it up how much money you can save from not smoking?
your teeth will fallout early due to gum damage.
it prematurely ages your skin.
lowers your bloods ability to absorb oxygen
i could give you more but until you want to quit you wont
im still smoking wish iwasnt but am not there yet

Its killing those around you!!!
Its selfish to smoke
everyone I know died grandpa wen i was 4 uncle wen i was 10 2 aunts both have serious cancer and are dieing now. wat more reason do u need then life itself. And if you ever make a comited relationship or have children your not hurting urself nemore ur killing them to, slowly and surely killing urself n the ppl u love. wen u smoke ppl around u are twice as likely to start wen they would have been. plus your killing the earth and making life horrible for a forgien farmer of tabacoo (DEPENDING ON THE BRAND YOU BUY some are better) some brands buy the tabacoo from foriegn places and its pretty sketchy....

I know it will be hard.. my grandfather tried alot and he failed, his life was his price... don-t let it happen to you... it will take alot but go to support groups might sound stupid or gay but it will help. consult doctors you can beet it.
if u want to give it up you have to have will power and a lot of it especially if you are addicted you have to want to give it up and you need to take up a hobbie i found that was easier for me try not to go places where every one smokes aroud you that hlps as well
find some old person that smokes and look at there fingers /skin/eyes/that is your future
so you can live longer and you wont give anyone second hand smoke and pollute their lungs too! and also so you can feel good about yourself! you-ll feel a lot healthier and you wont be addicted i think the best motivation is just knowing you can do something and achieving it.. but good luck hope you stop soon

Any good tips to help quit smoking? -

stop cold turkey.
what i did was buy the nicotine-free cigarettes (quest) as my last pack. they taste terrrible which helped me break my desire. i also used some nicotine gum before that to help cut back before quiting completely.
overall, you have to WANT to quit. if you don-t nothing will stick. keep reminding yourself about the money you will have once you quit. my uncle was in the hospital for heart issues, and as soon as he was out of the hospital and in his truck he lit a cigarette. he saw himself in his mirror, looked around his truck (which smelled terrible from stale smoke), threw his cigarettes out the window and drove the truck dealership and bought a new truck. for him, the idea of getting a new truck was a motivator (which is funny - you would think the horrible heart issues would have done it).

what also helped me was an indoor smoking ban and freezing weather. :)
There is a new drug out called Chantix. It-s supposed to have a really high rating on people quitting.
Think of dying of lung cancer again and again and again. That should help.
Just STOP and have no more!!! They have patches etc to help if you need.
Ask your doctor about a pill. I hear the pills work really fast.
quit buying them, think about how much money you will save to buy other things you want or need to pay for.

Is it easy to quit smoking? -

I have to do a report for my health class. i need 5 journal entries on people who have tried to quit smoking. the reason im asking is because i don-t know anyone who smokes. So please help. =D
It is not really easy to quite smoking but it is possible to quite smoking. It is a gradual process,i smoked for 24 years and finally stopped.I started by smoking clove cigarettes (djarum blacks) for some weeks, then I tried the patch and finally,I read an ebook which gave me additional inspiration to stop smoking.

There is no way a person can quit unless that person is sick and tired of smoking and wants to quit.....if that person doesn-t want to quit, it won-t happen...
I smoke and have quit before... and will quit one last time....
It is fairly easy if the person really wants to quit. Check out whyquit.com and google for Allen Carr-s Easyway (he had released a couple free books as well as paid ones).

Personally I could only manage to quit thanks to both Allen Carr and Joel Spitzer, who are recognized to be experts at smoking cessation (Allen Carr died two years ago though).

I-m 26 and I-ve been smoking for 7 years....wow 7 years. I-ve gone up and down with my usage, but I really want to quit for good this time. I mean 90% of the country doesn-t smoke pot every day, so why do I need to? Any tips?
1. stop hanging around people who smoke.
2. No more High Times mags.
3. No more weed movies.
by sewed your lips
Have you heard about e-cigarette ? It-s the generation next cigarette which omits smoke vapours 0% harmful for health. As mentioned in this article (refer under given weblink) -It feels like a cigarette, looks like a cigarette but it isn-t bad for your health-. Its the latest way to quit smoking.

http://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyle…

just quit it is non addictive did it for years and quit cold turkey
Just put the doobie down dude..........
Find another habit that you can engage in during the time that you-re used to smoking. It-s very hard to give up a habit without having something else to take its place. Good luck!
Start by putting down the bong.

Then find something else to do... replace the relatively benign addiction with something else.

~A
tHE ONLY THING YOU HAVE GOT TO DO IS STOP HANGING AROUND WITH SMOKERS/DEALERS.
Sorry about the caps.
hey im 19 , i remember I started smoking weed when i was 13! and I too was a kronic kronic smoker , but I been clean for a year now, I started seeing all my friends selling dope and going to jail , and others started to do heavier stuff like haroine and lsd. I sighned up at the local gym one night , randomly. I started lifting weights , and I met a guy there who was a boxing trainer , and I sighned up at his gym. just find a physical activity you always wanted to do , and go for it man , and trust me after being blazed outa your mind for 7 years , being sober is a trip. go jogging , you will fell how much more energized and cleansed you fell...and a joggers high is always free. and plus try to quit so you can have more money in your pocket. save up for a nice home gym , or a really fast car, I dunno what ever your into. I started blazin all the time because I didnt want to face my inner dreams , so 2morrow morning start with a jog around the neighboor hood , and ur addiction will start fading away from there , I mean it worked for me.
Why would you quit?
But seriously pot is not addictive. Just throw out, smoke or give the pot u have in ur house to friends (or me lol) and dont buy anymore. if your around friends who smoke tell them not to let u smoke before they light up.
Just say -NO-! lol. No, but seriously, depending on how addicted you are, if you cant do it on your own, you need support. Whether that be from friends and family, or admitting yourself into a Treatment/Rehab program...Rehab is not as bad as you may think..I had to go to get off of Vicodin, and remember that even in recovery, you still may relapse,(smoke pot again0, but dont quit quitting! Look up Narcotics Anonymous, or marijuana anonymous, or rehab for pot heads...Just remember that you can do it...obviously you have the desire to quit, if you lose the desire to quit smoking, then it will be almost impossible for you to quit. Look into a 12 step program for help! Good Luck!!

How do I quit smoking without using Nicorette Patches Therapy? -

put the cigarettes down and just walk away ... just that simple
Is there a reason why you don-t want to use the patch? I-ve heard good things about it. There are prescriptions available to help kick the cheimcal addiction, but that won-t help the physical habit of smoking if you don-t have the willpower. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. Quitting smoking is an extremely healthy and important thing to do, I really hope you succeed in doing this. Talk to your doctor about all your options.
I don-t know whether this will help, but when I wanted to quit smoking, I picked a date a few months into the future-July 4, fro example. From the time I picked the date, I told everyone and myself repeatedly that was the day I would smoke my last cigarette. I told myself this tons of times. Then, on the date, I smoked a cigarette and said to myself, this is the last cigarette I am ever going to smoke. That-s it. I threw away the rest of the pack and quit right then. That was about 7 years ago, and I have smoked about 3 cigarettes since then, but they tasted disgusting, and I believe I-m really done--even though I do sometimes wish I still smoked...I guess the desire never truly goes away completely. Good luck!
Well, first you gotta go through this whole psychological turmoil of -should i die from smoking- or -should i not die from smoking-. And then, you have to determine, that -will i die slowly with the dreaded E disease (emphysema) or will I have a sudden heart attack and develop congestive heart failure (which could take years to die from while you gain 20 to 30 pounds of water each day which must be drained in a hospital). I am seriously having a hard time deciding for you. YOU DECIDE! IS YOUR LIFE WORTH NOTHING? THEN KEEP SMOKING! And stay away from my pink lungs! (HAHA i quit many years ago! got pregnant and it made me SICK!). Maybe you could get your doctor to induce pregnancy.

What were your physical side effects when you quit smoking -

i have quit smoking cigarettes for 2 days and i have the worse headache and stomach ache. also it feels like my sinus-s are draining, my chest feels like it has loose Flem in it. oh and lets not talk about my mood. i just wanted to know what your symptoms were and if my are normal.
i quit smoking cold turkey years ago and i can still remember the withdraw. i felt like i was getting the flu with hot flashes and headaches with nausea. it only lasted a week but it was awful. i dreamed about smoking on and off for about a month after the first week and the physical withdraw was over. you can get through just don-t give in just think you are close the third day is the worst and after that it is all down hill. good luck it is worth it trust me.
My side effects were:

headache, nausea, dizziness, irritation, trouble sleeping, restlessness

It sucked. When I felt like I really needed a cigarette, I went for a run, and that killed all desire for smoking. I found that going to bed a little earlier helps to offset the trouble sleeping and the mood swings.

Better sleep
Better breathing
Food tastes better
Better breath
More money in pocket
Better blood circulation
Less coughing
Less wheezing
Can walk upstairs instead of using elevator
Blood pressure numbers improved
Fingers don-t smell like azz
House doesn-t smell like an ashtray

you will feel stress and that will triger you headaches somtimes you might fell upset for no reason and that will cause stress also and yes yours are very normal

I got very moody and short tempered.

Quit smoking??????? -

Has anyone else quit this year and determined to do it?

If you have, good on you.................
Yeh im determined to quit but it-s so damn hard. Il spend my money on Nicorette Patches instead
not this year but 6 years ago ,I just feel proud so I wanted to comment
Smokers...I dont smoke...but its silly to do so in the first place
I quit cigs 6 months ago and i quit weed 4 weeks ago. Its hard but makes you feel alot better.
I-m on day 2 and not feeling too bad, its more getting out of the routine of a glass of wine and a ciggie as soon as i get home from work, a cup of tea isn-t quite the same, but i-m really determined to do it this time!!
i dont smoke but if u really want to quit u would just do it
Like an idiot I got on the stage at the New Year party at my club and announced that I-d made a New Year resolution to stop smoking! I daren-t go back and light up! I-ve invested in Nicorette Patches, and have managed 3 days so far, but the worst time is when I-m at home with nothing to do except watch TV....it-s OK at work, can keep finding things to do to keep my mind occupied, but I-m really struggling in the evenings!
Quit over 5 years ago now best thing i ever done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best of luck to all that are trying keep it up folkes!!!!!
You can do it!
see your doctor and he/she can give you advice...but no matter what products you invest in to help you, they will not work unless you have the will power to want to stop
meee
I have a patch on and am still sucking on an NRT inhaler, but the thoussands it has cost me and my inability to run the length of myself has made me determined to quit
If your in the UK on TVs This Morning programme there was different things tried I didn-t see it only was told and the best was some tablets you got from your doctor and they were better than the patches and the gum Good Luck your great I have to soon am not looking forward to it
I gave up smoking in 1979 to improve my nightime running and avert depression from my divorce. I have never re-married or smoked since then. But I gave up the running because I lost too much weight and sleep with the vampire-like hyperactivity.

How to quit smoking without gaining any weight? -

I will not eat more than I usually do when I quit smoking. But I know my body will no longer spend calories to detoxify itself from the cigarettes - so I might gain weight. (right?)

How can I stop it?
I-d just suggest changing your eating habits to something that works for your body. Exchange cigarettes for, eating lower carbs.. or adding a daily walk to your routine. As long as you watch your calorie intake, and your carb intake, or add a walk to your day, you should remain the same size. Besides, you might not gain weight simply from stopping smoking.. everyone is diffferent and reacts differently. Good luck, see how you react, and if it-s negatively just change some habits around. It-s worth it!
I have heard the same answer of quiting smoking will add on ten pounds. I recently quit smoking 8 months ago by joining a gym and using nicorette. Taking up a new hobby could help you quit smoking and stop deteriating your body from seriuos health problems. I feel like a brand new person.
I quit smoking a little over a year ago and didn-t gain any weight. I started again a year later and have not had a cig for two weeks and I haven-t gained any weight. I really think it depends on the person. Drink lots of ice cold water. That will help with metabolism.
Make your body spend the calories in other ways by increasing your exercise, or decrease the amount of calories in your diet.
I don-t think that-s very logical, ciggerattes don-t help you lose weight, your body does not spend a signifigant amount of energy to detoxify nicitine, don-t worry about it.
yea
got to stop the oral fixation so having gum or candy around is good so you don-t keep feeding your face to fill the void

I am 24 male, quit smoking 6 days ago, resting heart rate dropped from around 80 to 60, should I worry? -

I-m overweight but I am very active at work, I don-t get dizzy, I have good energy, I-m just worried that 60 is too low, it goes up to 70-75 walking around, goes up fine with exercise, tell me I-m ok!! Lol
You are fine. It is normal for your heart rate to drop when you stop smoking since your arteries are no longer constricted and your heart doesn-t have to work so hard. 60-100 is the normal heart rate so you are just fine. Congrats on giving up the smokes.
Anything between 60-100 is fine. Smoking constricts your vessels, causing the heart to pump harder and faster to get the blood through your body. Since you-ve stopped smoking, your vessels are open wider and the heart doesn-t have to work as hard or fast to get the blood through your body. You-re fine! This is normal. Good job on quitting smoking..congrats!
some people say eating more salt helps raise your heart rate...

but good for you for quitting smoking... try yoga classes, bikram is really good for you if there is a studio near you.

I think you will be fine...
besides a little anxiety and hypochondriac you are fine. perfectly normal.
I think your ok , smoking that probably help stay away from salt continue to exercise you are on the right track

What a ridiculous question!! Which would you rather have...lung cancer or constipation?

Get your dr. to prescribe a sleep aid, or try benedryl. Buy Miralax at your pharmacy. It-s great stuff. Gentle and undetectable in food or drink.

You picked the wrong person to answer your question. My mom was feeling poorly, went to the dr. and found she had stage 4 lung cancer and 12 weeks left to live. If you want the full story, e-mail me.

I quit smoking today and Im feeling dizzy and sad. Help :( how do I minimize dizziness ? -

I-ve quit smoking cold turkey today, friday at 12:22 am. So that-s about 22 hours. I-m ok so far, but I-m feeling very dizzy and kinda upset.. I got so used to smoking day and night for years and years and now I have to do something instead. Please suggest things to calm myself and minimize this dizziness I-m feeling now. Thanks in advance :)
Associate something else with cigarettes, such as chewing gum, or drinking coffee or tea. Just anything like that can help relieve stress that cigarettes usually help you with. Hope that helps *thumbs up* Congrats btw, and keep it up :D Your body-ll thank you.
First of all, congrats! It-s a hard thing that you-ve done and you should be proud of yourself.

I quit a little over 5 weeks ago and I feel great. I read a book called The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. There is no pressure and it doesn-t tell you all the bad stuff (we already know, right?) But it-s very encouraging and gives you a different perspective on becoming a non-smoker.

I didn-t have any dizziness, but I did get some headaches. It will pass. I recommend doing things that make you feel good about yourself like excercise or eating fruits and veggies (if you like them). Your body will be feeling wonderful in no time.

I also recommend picking up that book if you have a hard time in the next few days. It will reinforce your commitment to stop.
I know what your going through. Take deep breaths and drink lots of water. Lots and lots of water. Nicotine is completely out of your system in 8 days and will no longer be a strong desire. After that it is all the mental issue to deal with.
The more water you drink, the quicker the body will clean the nicotine from your cells.
Stay with it, it will pass, there are a lot of options here, take it easy and help the time pass with whatever you like doing, especially with your hands write, knit, type, etc. Take a day off if you are having a difficult time, just think this will be the best thing you have done for yourself and your family, it will soon pass and you will be free of the nicotine addiction, forever. God bless you.
Try to relax eat a carrot stick or celery that helps ... Read a book but please don-t fail
You can try a natural remedy to minimize the withdrawal sypmtoms.

For info on natural/herbal remedy for smoking withdrawal effects visit the following source.
What most people do not realize is that cigarettes are laced with sugar. (Between 8 to 18% sugar). The sugar in cigarettes is absorbed instantly from inside the mouth when you inhale. The sugar goes directly to the brain and provides a hit of pleasure. (The brain-s only food source is sugar). You are detoxing from the Nicotine but you are also certainly experiencing Hypoglycemia (low Blood Sugar). You are feeling dizzy and upset from the Nicotine detox and from Hypoglycemia. For Hypoglycemia eat frequent small meals (every 2 - 3 hours) and have PROTEIN with each meal. Drink 8 glasses of WATER to flush out the Nicotine. Your Nicotine detox will be completed in 4 to 5 days. Also you need to take a B Vitamin supplement daily, because Nicotine binds with B vitamins as it is flushed out of the body.
Sugar is usually not listed on cigarette packages because cigarettes are not a food source. Congratulations on quitting!
Congrats - you are now a non smoker! I quit myself cold turkey 3 months ago after 20 yrs - no cravings, no moodswings, nothing..... Everytime you feel any cravings just eat a raw carrot. This really works, there is something in the carrotene just under the skin that actually fights the chemicals that you were addicted to. If you eat 2 raw carrots a day for 2 weeks you will never smoke again. Let me know how you get on. It worked for me, I-ve never looked back.
It-s normal to feel dizzy, light headed or nausea. I quit again last Tuesday and was sick for about three days (It has been six days for me). It does go away and the benefits of not smoking are by far better than smoking. Hang in there. Exercise and water (lots of it helps). The cravings only last for a minute, think of something else or get the gum.
change your hair color from blonde to brown it should go away
Green tea with ginger root.
chew candy or give up
its only because your body has become addicted and dependant on those drugs, and it will take a while to get used to not having them. but you are making the right choice!!!
Quite nicotine several years ago. You will go through the physical withdrawals for the next week or so. This is followed by the psychological withdrawals for the next several months. It is usually the psychological or rituals associated with smoking that will cause you to return to smoking. These are things that you do when smoking or around smoking that you won-t be doing any more. For the physical withdrawals, tricyclcics (antihistamines-benedryl) have been known to reduce these. Suggest you discuss this with your doctor-Wellbutrin is also known to help out with this. As nicotine is a stimulant drug (same drug class as cocaine and caffeine), the withdrawal syndrome is the exact opposite of the active effect of the nicotine. Heart rate will be reduced, feel sluggish, tired, irritable, nauseous and so forth-this is probably the source of the dizziness. You might experience an increase in appetite, also as nicotine is an appetite suppressant. All of this is normal and to be expected. An herbal means of helping with this is to chew licorice root-this is also a stimulant, so be careful. Hope that this helps
You may be able to take medication to calm dizziness. If you still have problems, get some nicorette gum. It-ll take longer to quit but it might be easier
if u take B-5 and choline, it produces the same thing as the nicotene in cigarettes, acetylcholine. take 500 mg (not timed released) 4 times a day and 432 mg (one with every b-5)
ive gone cold turkey a few times myself. what your feeling is the nicotine withdrawls which last about 48-60 hours. i just found it best to just go to bed that first full day of no smoking. no need to stay up and feel wierd. next day should be much easier.
i quit last month and felt similar things... i found that deep breathing helps alot.. drink lots!!!!!! of water and exercise as much as posible because the nicotine is exiting you system and both of those things will help it get out faster. But just don-t give into having one.. whatever you are feeling it will pass and ultimately you will no longer be a slave to tobacco!!!
I quit smoking today and Im feeling dizzy and sad. Help :( how do I minimize dizziness ? -

WHY SMOKING IS TOUGH TO QUIT
============== ==============
Smoking is very tough to quit because it doesn-t only test your Will power but it makes your biologically addicted. It is not just a bad habit, but it is something you are bound with and will require either an extreme will power (which if you had, you might have left smoking far ago) or something that can replace that habit.

HOW TO QUIT SMOKING PERMANENTLY ?
================== =================
The only feasible way to quit a bad habit or addiction is to replace it with another addiction (This is what rehabilitation centers do to drug addicts)
You can quit smoking by replacing cigarettes with some non harmful product which is easier to quit later due to its lack of biological addiction.
E-Cigarettes are a good option, Chewing gum is sometimes helpful but not always and is harmful if consumed in large quantity.

Has many reviews of smoking quitters and many harmless products to help you quit smoking with detailed instructions.
If you are strong willed, decide not to smoke. Take a pledge not to smoke and follow it and follow it strictly.
Alternately, avoid smoking (without taking any pledge). Gradually bring down the number. Smoke only when offered by some one(don-t spend any money on it). Don-t offer cigarettes to others. and you will soon find others avoid offering cigarettes to you. If you take a pledge and break it, you will feel guilty. If you don-t take the pledge but make a conscious effort to reduce it and stop it, there is better chance of success.
If you find these methods difficult to practice, and if you are still determined to stop smoking, take the help of any counselling centre.
I used to smoke for about 5 years and now smoke free for 2 years. I went cold turkey and took it one day at a time from there. You have to constantly motivate yourself to quit and keep telling your self if I don-t quit now it-s just going to get harder. After the first month or so which is going to be very difficult the cravings are not as bad and continue to fight off the urges. I-m not going to lie it-s been a little over 2 years now and I still have urges sometimes but I fight it off.
Good Luck.
