I have quit smoking after 3 months, will I gain weight? -
I-ve been smoking for less than 3 months and decided to stop because it was a waste of money and my life, will I gain weight?
You-ll probaby lose back anything you lost after you started.
The people who are talking about hand to mouth are full of it, BTW. Nicotine affects the metabolism and the appetite, just like diet pills and other stimulants. So smokers way less. As someone pointed out, you may not have smoked long enough (or heavily enough) to have lost weight. Hopefully, you havent smoked long enough or heavily enough to get addicted, either!
That-s great, congratulations! Well, the reason most people gain weight is that they don-t know what to do with their hand anymore, so if you can find an alternative to eating OR if you can become at peace with idle hands, you should be okay. If you-re worried, you could start working out a little harder to make up for any extra calories that you consume! Good luck!
The hand-to-mouth thing is partly myth and part truth. The reality is is that nicotine increases your metabolism (thus burning more calories). You haven-t been smoking long enough for that to really affect you. Don-t underestimate the power of this adiction though. Have a plan with ways around the inevitable cravings that are going to occur.
People gain weight when they quit smoking not because of the lack of nicotine - chemicals, but because of the hand-to-mouth habit. Keep plenty of sugar free suckers and gum around and eat like you normally do. Good luck to you and congratulations on your decision to quit! :o)
Not if you kick in a good eating pattern. Eat foods high in protein and low in carbs.
