People who have quit smoking weed, does it get better? -

I have been smoking for about 14 months now and I-m tired of it. I gues I-ve kind of become a burnout and im depressed. My question is when i stop smoking will things get better and will i be happy again, or am i just gonna stay all upset.
I-ve got to say, after banging my head against the wall for months with stupid questions about pot by pot users who can-t be bothered to think, this is one of the most amazing set of answers I think I-ve ever seen on Y!A.

As for the question, like most others, I will say yes to both parts.

Can MJ cause depression? Yes.

It does this because the mechanism of getting high is based on a substance called a cannabinoid. THC is a cannabinoid. It is plant based, so it is called a -phytocannabinoid-.

Your body also produces cannabinoids. These are called -endocannabinoids-.

When these chemicals enter your brain, your body thinks that it can produce less endocannabinoids.

Now the average person may not notice, but if you are already somewhat predisposed towards depression, you will very likely notice. This is also the reason that so many people say that you cannot be chemically addicted to MJ. While the effects of withdrawal are generally minimal compared to other drugs, any serious medical practitioner will tell you that this is _false_.

Of course, what you are experiencing is not addiction, it-s tolerance. Specifically, tolerance to your body-s own cannabinoids. Your body isn-t making enough to control mood properly because production is decreased due to MJ use AND because it is becoming used to higher levels of one of the neurotransmitters that helps control mood.

The fact that depression itself is actually pretty widespread probably has something to do with the large number of answers for this question compared to many other MJ oriented questions.

Does this mean that it will get better?

Actually, it will probably get worse for a couple of weeks. Maybe even a couple of months.

Then it will start returning to normal.

The problem is that what is normal for you may not actually be happy.

Pay attention to your mood and if you don-t feel in control after three months of abstinence, see a psychiatrist.

Don-t be afraid of a psychiatrist. Remember, you have already been taking a form of drug to help control your mood. There-s nothing at all that is -weaker- or more -broken- to taking something that actually has a prescription and making use of trained medical supervision.

It may well be that the source of your depression is not the MJ itself, but it-s very likely that it has been worsened by it. In fact, you may even find that you have to keep tabs on your mood for a very long time, perhaps the rest of your life.

that-s OK though and you will be happy again one day.
It will, but I know from personal experience that it can feel like it-s never going to. If your like I was, then every time you smoke now all it does is return you to happiness levels that you used to be at naturally, and maybe a little higher. Because of this, it can feel like smoking is the only way you-ll ever get to feel happy again, but if you do quit, after a long enough period, you will start to heal. The brain is a fascinating organ and it can often mend even in circumstances much more extreme than anything it was subjected to during your smoking, it just needs time.
When i started smoking weed I had a lot of fun. Than all of a sudden I started getting paranoid, depressed, confused, and angry everytime I smoked. When I decided not to smoke anymore my life got so much better. Dont even do it once and awhile or with friends just completely stop.
I still drink when I go out and stuff but I dont smoke weed anymore. I think everyone eventually grows out of it and it sounds like your going through what I went through. You just have to make sure that when you decide not to do it anymore that you need to focus on ridding the things in life that are in the way of your happiness. Focus on bettering yourself in every way possible because you owe it to yourself.
Yes, stopping smoking after large amounts for a long period of time causes stress/depression because it has depleted/gotten rid of the chemical dopamine in your brain which triggers you to feel happy. It will take a while though. We also learned you are supposed to get help for depression and most people don-t because it seems like it will go on its own, but it-s really a chemical imbalance in your brain which can be treated with meds from your doctor, so..... seek a doctor when your down for at least 2 weeks
well i haven-t smoked but one of my best good friends went sober about a year and a half ago, since quitting he has gone back to school to get his bachelors degree in business management and is now engaged to a lovely girl. He worked at my work but upon quitting he admitted to me that he felt more drive and now he is applying for a supervisor job. We used to joke about him quitting would change him, but its true. i believe that him quitting finally kinda set him free. I know this sounds cheesy but its the truth, i understand that many smoke for various reasons but for my friend this finally allowed him to be himself instead of someone who couldn-t wait to get high. He has thought about smoking since (he-s told me in confidence) but hasn-t because his fiance and career mean more.
-i hope you can stay sober, my friend did and i do believe it changed him for the better
dude, you-re abusing and you-re depressed. if you don-t do anything you-ll probly be dead on the floor of your basement with a gunshot wound to the head because of your depression in a few months. what you need to do is tell someone who can help you, quit the weed for a month, the go and see a doctor about getting some meds for depression. in a few month-s you-ll be right as rain 8D
the many stages of smoking that Mary Jane... you are now at the point where it-s going down... then if you continue you-ll go back to just being plain addicted and treat it like its part of life...

It depends on your capabilities to stop... I-ve told my friends to stop but they do it for 6 months...2 months... 1.... 2 weeks...2 days... and fall off.... once you do it for a long time... you are just part of its cycle.

So if you quit... make sure your friends understand that because they will get you back on it...

I don-t do that ... I-m happy without that ... so Good Luck
Well darlin-, it may not be the best idea to be using marijuana as an anti-depressant. While it does help you not care so much about what-s going on, it doesn-t help motivate you to fix the issues. And it certainly doesn-t help you process your emotions better. It-s more of an avoidance tool.

If you-re feeling down, try talking it out. I know it-s hard to do sometimes, especially depending on what-s making you feel that way, but it-s really worth the effort. Sometimes getting just one other persons perspective on a situation can change your whole point of view, and help you cope.

So to answer your question, I don-t think that smoking or not smoking will help you feel better. At some point, you-ll have to face the demons. If it-s really bad, talk to a counselor. There are a lot of ways to increase your endorphins and keep yourself flying high without drugs (prescriptions or otherwise).
I use to smoke bud ALL of the time my sophomore and junior years of high school which was -06 and -07. I haven-t really smoked since then other than a hit here or there once every like 7 months. The pot isn-t what makes you depressed, there are bigger issues at hand most likely. Figure out what it is that is really making you unhappy and try to fix it.
And smoking again won-t change anything, it just buries the problem and makes things worse. So don-t go back to smoking. I quit because you never know when some sort of opportunity will present its self that requires you to take a drug test. You most certainly will not want to miss out of something important due to failing a drug test, it-s a huge bummer. So keep off the pot, you-ll benefit from it.
good luck!
Smoking weed is like drinking alcohol. If you do it casually it is a fun thing to do with your friends. If you do it constantly it can be much worse. Luckily, weed isn-t physically addictive. The problem is that your problems are likely something else, and you aren-t likely to solve them by stopping. Be prepared to deal with your issues anyways (although you could use the extra money for therapy :P )
Definitely. I couldn-t get through a day without a joint a about 5 years ago and was horribly depressed i thought pot was making me happier but it was quiet the opposite for me. I still do miss smoking pot (probablly cause i was stoned most of my teenage life) and i-ll even answer peoples questions about pot. but pot isn-t for me anymore.
weed only amplifies the feelings that you have when you smoke it. if you-re happy, it-ll make you more happy. if you-re depressed, it-ll make you more depressed. don-t smoke when you-re depressed, and if you ARE depressed, you should just work out or go play some sports because that literally will always take your mind off things, which can help depression. be an active individual. and i think smoking weed wouldn-t be too bad if we could use our whole brains. we use less than half of our brain sooo that-s my point. good luck man u can do ANYTHING you set your mind to ;)
yes, it-ll get better, it did for me. if you think smoking weed is what makes you depressed, then definitely. but if you have other problems going on right now, then quitting won-t make those problems go away but you-ll actually start trying to fix them instead of just getting high. and i bet a lot of your current problems stem from smoking anyway
You get more energy, you feel more alert and smarter and you become more productive.
If you dont want to be any of the above, then you should continue to smoke weed

Those are also stories of people who successfully quit smoking weed
I stopped after 6 years. and yes, weed is a depressant. I can-t guarantee you wont be depressed anymore. But I-m sure it will be helpful especially since you are more prone to being active. being active keeps your spirits up. or so i hear. It-s only mentally addictive so its not very hard.
Yeah, it-ll get better.
It might take a month or two, but it-ll get much better.

If you find a buddy who wants to stop blazing with you and you just chill with them all the time, after even just a few days you-ll notice that you guys aren-t as burnt out as you were before.

It-s a dope feeling of accomplishment. :P

good luck, man!
for me it did.
i mean, i felt more like a productive human being lol
i used to take 6 month breaks and those seemed to work.
but eventually i just got sick of it all together and i-ve been clean for awhile now.
good luck with whatever you decide to do :]
Firstly, you can-t get addicted to weed. And its not just weed thats making you depressed. A number of things makes people depressed, not just one thing. Look deep within yourself and your life, then fix it. Its not the weed.
yes. go to a doctor and get an antidepressant. i felt like you, before and after i quit smoking, and went on effexor, and antidepressant, and life is much much brighter. yes, trading one drug for another. but i would much rather have it this way
yes it will i had an ex husband who did it and it made him mean and uncontrollable and unfortunately weed is what caused our divorce so my point is is it will make you feel better once you-ve quit especially if you have depression problems!!
Well, in my opinion it-s not something you should do all the time just every now and then. Um, I think you-ll feel better if you don-t do it all the time. You-ll feel more vibrant and wanting to get more outta life
hhm not sure... i experience weed as sort of a pick me up. not really a depressant. i enjoy it ever so often...but ya i guess if ur becoming a burnout than u just over did it a bit! lef lay off... maybe smoke cigs.. i donno...ya i bet itll get better..but i mean id miss it...lol
if you-re upset just because of the weed, yes, things will get better. but if you-re really upset about other things, you-ll have to work on those issues to feel better.
It can be tough, but if it is causing you to feel depressed its definatey time to stop, or at least ease off. I felt much better after quitting. Good luck!
after your body is done pushing out all the toxins you-ll feel a lot better.

i know it-s hard to find the energy to but walking or working out helps you feel better as well.
When you quit smoking marijuana your life becomes a lot more boring. That is about the only issue worth mentioning, until you find something else fun to occupy your free time.
Yes, it will get better! I got pregnant and was forced to quit... Never picked up again after birth.... Life is good and I-m happy!!!! Find something else to utilize your time!

Good luck and be happy!
i think it will get better if ur depressd bc ur smoken weed...bt wen u stop u will feel better n general bc ur actually livein life bein urself and nt bein high and disconnectd wid reality
I quit like a year ago its so easy!
since you cannot get addicted to weed only get a mental addiction from it
its so easy..
Self-loathing stoners like you are stupid. Its not the pot that makes you lazy, its you. You have no willpower, but go on and quit you quitter. Quitters never win though.
Yes. As far as your attitude; but The herb can stay i your system for as long as 1 year. Careful with the cops haha

How can I convince my father to quit smoking ? -

Help he-s smoking more than a pack in a day
All the people gave you good advice, tell him you love him and want him around a long time smoking will only shorten his life. Tell him from me that having cancer is no way to live smoking is like each putting nails in your own coffin
you can-t make someone stop smoking. they have to want to. but you can let him know how important his health is to you. make sure he knows that he can die from COPD, lung cancer, or heart disease. if he doesn-t stop now. maybe it will make him think about it.
tell him that if he doesn-t stop, he-s going to have serious health problems and that you want him around for a long time. Tell him that quitting smoking will improve the quality of life for not only him but the rest of your family as well, and that if he quits, he-ll most likely live longer. Just be real with him and hope he listens.
tell him how you feel. tell him the important parts of your life and his loved ones- lives that he-ll miss out on if he keeps smoking.

A present for my mom who quit smoking? -

my mom just quit smoking and i want to get her a present for it, any ideas?
Take her out to eat or cook up her favorite meal.Maybe a makeover. If you can afford it, pay to get her a haircut, manicure, pedicure or whatever. Maybe a spa day together to get pampered. Could just have a bonding moment together and let her know how much it means to you for her to quit.
My wife quit smoking after 30 years. I bought her a NASCAR jacket of her favorite driver, Kasey Kahne. It is something that will last and everytime she looks at it she will remember how proud I am she beat the addiction.
take her some where out on beach or any where else just talk about your childhood have a dinner and go back and just show her how much you love her.

I just quit smoking yesterday, are all of these symptoms normal? -

I just quit smoking yesterday cold turkey after smoking for 19 years. I was a very light smoker and I didn-t think it was going to be that bad. I smoked less than 1/2 a pack a day so not even 10 cigarettes a day. I feel really bad, this is my 2nd day without a cigarette and I-m doing ok but I am having horrible symptoms. I have a horrible headache, my whole body aches, my throat hurts, I kept waking up all night last night and I am very irritable and just aching all over. I feel a lot of pressure in my head. I am definitely not going back to smoking if my body is so dependent on it like it was. It is a great feeling to be quit but when are these symptoms going to go away? I took some Ibuprofen for the headache but it doesn-t help. And I feel so tired. Anyway, if anyone could help, that would be great.
It seems a little extreme to me. When I quit smoking (after 11 years of being a light smoker) I did not experience any of those symptoms, just a psychological craving. Even that decreased a lot after about 3 days and went away completely after about a week.

BTW congratulations on quitting! Don-t give up; whatever it is that-s making you sick will go away and you will still be a non-smoker!!
Well, I am not sure if these symptons are related to you not smoking anymore. I stopped smoking and I never had any of those symptons.
Maybe you are getting sick with the flu or something else besides your quitting to smoke.
Maybe go and see a doctor.
Drink alot of water, that should help in a couple of days it will start to get easier.
I quit smoking Aug. 01,of this year. I smoked 1 pack a day for 30 years. I quit by having laser therapy the girl who does it works in my store. I-m also having bad side effects. I-m not having with drawls but I do experience headaches, sore throat, burning in my nostrils and sinus tubes, dizziness, trouble sleeping and irritation. It has only been 3 weeks so I am trying to be patient. Like you I will never go back to smoking again. Yesterday I went to the store and when I came out I smelled someone smoking and WOW did it ever stink. My sense of smell is getting better. I have been taking a multi-vitamin with extra vitamin C I don-t no if it is helping but I am finally not feeling to bad today so far anyway.
Don-t start back up , your brain is trying to get you to reward it with nicotine by making you suffer , the longer you go the easier it gets .
ask the doctor
I smoked for 17 yrs and quit about 4 weeks ago. The physical symptoms should go away in about a week but the physiological symptoms will last probably about 3 months or more. I have been using Nicolette and it has helped with the cravings and physical need for the nicotine. Just stay strong, you can do it. Yes our symptoms are normal.
Drink lots of orange juice... all your symptoms are related to the breaking down of your immune system, vitamin C is the main defence for all of them... Congratulation for the quit....
im sorry that you are feeling so horrible, but i guess this really shows how harmful cigarettes are to our body. I think you have to pull through this. smoking is bad! have determination and courage to quit it! you are on your way to success! just bear with it for the time being. stay positive and look at the brighter side of life
Perfectly normal. Drink a lot of water, it takes at least 3 days to wash it out of your system, then about another week to get the nictotine out of your liver. Lots and lots of water :)
Yeah, that is common... you might get some nicotine gum for a while. Drink some caffeine such as coffee and see if the headache goes away. The aching is puzzling... you may be coming down with the flu.
Those are the same symptoms I had when I tried smoking.
This is normal, just keep holding on, it will stop soon.

Im trying to quit smoking cigs. and am wondering if Commot Patches really work.? -

Im trying to quit smoking cigs. and am wondering if Commot Patches really work.? -

I have smoked for almost 38 years and have COPD am trying to quit and am serious about this but I need some help. Does anyone know if these Commit Patches really work? Thanks
I have copd, emphysema, asthma and have just recently had a cat scan, then a pet scan. They found a small nodule on my lung and that is something really scary. Benign at this time thank God. I-ve also had pleurisy recently and that is something so painful you just wouldn-t believe. It hurts to even breath. I smoke and have used the patches so many times but went back to just trying 1 more cigarette so no to me they didn-t work so well. Now for the good part...go to your Dr and ask for a prescription for Chantix. To me it is a wonder drug although you can backslide on those also which I done but if you are serious about quitting then you-ll be fine. I quit for well over 6 months and back on them again now for sure. Please try this and don-t let happen to you what has happened to me. In my opinion God has given me a miracle. Good luck and please let me know how you are doing with whatever you choose.
The patches work for some people. The Commit nicotine lozenges are even better. If that isn-t enough, talk to your doctor about combination therapy, which is both patches and lozenges. Also talk to your doctor about Chantix, a pill. It is the most effective stop smoking medication known, though not everyone can tolerate it. Also keep in mind that joining a group when you use these things increases your chances significantly.

No matter how addicted you are, some combination of these things will work. Given that you have COPD, I think it-s inexcusable that you are not already receiving these or others therapies under medical supervision.
This may sound terrible to you but it worked for me, a three pack a day man. Buy a package of chewing tobacco and every time you have the urge to smoke, put a small piece in your mouth and suck on it. Do not spit.

Is it too late for my dad to quit smoking? -

he hasn-t done it a lot for the past few years. he-s 37 or 38 but looks like he-s in his 20s.
It is not too late. Do everything you can to help him quit! Quitting is hard and he will need to want to do it, but it will really pay off in terms of health and longevity.
If he hasn-t smoked for the past few years then it sounds like he has already quit. He-s young so it would be great if he didn-t start smoking again. He could avoid so much suffering if he-s smart enough to stay away from that habit.
Let your Dad know that it upsets you if he does smoke again.
I wish you, - your Dad, well.
Never too late.
The damage can be reversed sometimes. He-s still quite young.
Help him to quit smoking!! One of the best gifts you will ever give to your dad!!! Good luck!
He-s still quite a young man! Encourage him to quit now before it is too late.
never too late. Sounds like he is taking pretty good care of himself.
it-s never to late.

What is the most effective way to quit smoking without spending too much money? -

I know that I need to quit and I have tried many times. What have you tried and found to be the most successful solution?
Go Cold Turkey.

I smoked since I was 15 years old. When I found out I was pregnant I just stopped but started again when my daughter was 1.5 years old.

Then, I started to think about not being around for her if I kept smoking so one fine day, I just stopped. I think I scared myself enough.

That was in Sept 2005 and I haven-t lit up since.
I was a smoker for 25 years and I had quit smoking for over six times ,but never really quit smoking before.Just after I read that quit smoking program, I realized how easy quitting smoking was.I am a non-smoker now! I highly recommend this program to you.It really works. You can check out
http://quit-smoking-in-3-hours.info

Good luck!
Well smoking makes you get horible wrinkles around your mouth and face and make your skin look like crap. Seeing this on other smokers made me quit. Does that help? Hope I am not too late.
I tried a lot of stuff, but I finally quit cold turkey, that-s free, and haven-t had one since January of 1990 and I smoked for 30 years.
I-ve attempted to quit smoking a few times and it is very difficult. I know there are quite a few things out there that supposedly helps, but I think it has to do with you really wanting to quit. I-ve been told several times that medication (Chantix-the new one that-s out) or gum or that other stuff won-t help as much without having the WILL to quit. Good luck to you! :-)
There are multiple programs put on by the gov-t that are free for you to stop smoking
I would call your local hospital and talk with the social services division. They shoudl be able to guide you to the right phone #-s for your area.
Wellbutrin - your insurance may cover it. It is a mild anti-depressant that has been found to help people quit smoking. It worked for me 18 months ago.
Cold turkey. Just stop. Very cheap.
think about it this way, u may spend 20 bucks a week on smokes, well if u quite on somthin a lil expensive now u will win in the long run :)
good luck i quit smoking a few yesrs ago
Don-t buy cigarettes, don-t ask people for cigarettes. Don-t even touch a cigarette and you won-t be able to smoke anymore. I gave up trying to quit. Still smoking. Good luck!
Quit cold turkey.
I have told several of my patients this method and they have all had sucess with it.

The problem with quitting cold turkey is that depending on how much you smoke now, you body has a craving for the nicotine. You need to wean your body off slowly. So here is what you do.

Start out with the normal amount of cigarettes you smoke in a week. Take 2 away the first week.

Every week after the first week, take away 1 more cigarette from what you normally smoke until you are down to none. This way your body is easing itself off the nicotine addiction, you don-t have to spend money on expensive patches or gum, and you still are able to maintain the oral fixation, which is easier to get rid of than the nicotine addiction.

Hope this helps!!!
when you lite up a cigarette, just get one puff only then throw the cigarette away. if you still want to smoke then lite up another one, have one puff and throw it away. if you stick with it, you WILL quit!! Or when you lite one cigarette, throw one away!! trust me. stick with it and it will work.
well i know that its a big turn off just the smell in ur closths house hair breath everything n it really hard 2 get out almost n possible,,,,,,,,,,,my mother smokes n i cant stand it.........it makes me want to get away from her...............which isnt a real good thing lol......so think of it as if u smoke the people u love wont want 2 b around u...........or how dicusting it is when u smell it on a person.....no hard feelings k? and good luck

I feel like kicking something over or punching some one ? I feel like it is good to quit smoking but since I have it has made me more angry - stressed in my life is there something to do that will help me to feel like I-m not going to lose controll ?
Common withdrawal symptoms from nicotine.

Google -nicotine withdrawal- to find out more. You can also find support groups online or in your area if you feel like things are getting out of control. There might also professionals you can talk to one-on-one to help (maybe).

This webpage is helpful:
http://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/default.htm
As you can see, there is an article listed under the article section called -How to Survive 30 Days Without Smoking.- Try taking a look at that.
I-ve tried just about every method there is out there and there is only one I can recommend - NLP! It eliminates the cravings.
Gum patches and all the other just did not cut it for me, not to mention cold turkey which was the hardest, I even tried the electric cig and it is just no match to the real thing.
Check out this article:

it’s the one that got me off the cigs and smoke free for GOOD even without gaining weight! :)

Good luck kicking the habit!
Matthew.
Anyone who-s attempted the quitting process will tell you that it-s impossible to even think of going through it without piling on the pounds, since cigarettes decrease our appettite. Irritability, violence and agressivness are the result of the body attempting to function without the nicotine.
It-s a hard process, but it-s worth it. Your brain is addicted to the nicotine. You need time for the nicotine receptors in your brain to turn off.

Tell your wife to dip a butt into pi$$ and not tell you which one. Trust me ,you wont wanna smoke again.
Have you heard of the new electronic cigarettes? There was a story about them on Yahoo about a week ago. I-ve been smoking for 30 years and have tried everything to quit smoking without any success. And, then I just bought two packs of cigarettes that cost me more than $12. That-s ridiculous. I will be ordering my electronic cigarette starter package this week and I-m very excited about it. They simulate a real cigarette which none of the other quit smoking aids have done. They come with a rechargeable battery, when you inhale, you get a burst of nicotine for that craving and it actually looks like you-re blowing out smoke but it-s a water vapor mist. The tip of the cigarette even illuminates. So you get the nicotine you crave, the hand and mouth fixation is covered and exhaling the vapor mist looks like smoke.

The beauty of it is you still get all the stuff you crave from smoking without all the negative side effects or harmful additives found in tobacco. The starter kit comes with the electronic cigarette, battery, and five nicotine cartridges. Each cartridge is supposed to be equal to 1-2 packs of cigarettes. The kit is $79 and the cartridge refills are around $13 for a pack of five. I will be ordering from the site below.
The fastest way to quit smoking is to use nicotine chewing gums. They have a very good impact. My friend tried them and within a week he was away from cigarettes. Most of the time you can get free samples for trial. Nicorette is one of those chewing gums.
A fewpointers from my own experience.

1) Ask yourself honestly, do you want to stop? What would life be like without cigarettes? What will you do to cope when you want a cigarette?

2) Don-t cut down and don-t go for patches, gum, etc, just go cold turkey. I went from 20-per-day to zero. Expect it to be hard. It will get easier.

3) Don-t tell people you-ve given up smoking, or you-re an ex-smoker, or you-re trying to quit, or any of that nonsense. Just say either -I don-t smoke- or -I am a non-smoker-. It makes a lot of difference to the way you see yourself and to the way people react to you, especially smokers! Try it and see.
Chantix worked for my husband. He quit after 3 weeks! Smoke free for almost 3 years!
Big $$$, even with insurance, but worth it.
the fastest way?well its quite easy..
well...
all
you
have

do
is
to
STOP SMOKING
Go visit a lung cancer ward.If that doesnt do it you are beyond help.

Using the mouthwash is certainly a good thing, you could also get a paste specifically for more sensitive teeth too and gentle flossing will help. Your dentist will be able to remove plaque/tartar that will have built up and can also advise on the best type of brush to use to reduce bleeding.
If you have noticed that your gums have reduced then sadly that type of damage is permanent but good mouth hygiene and regular dentist care will certainly help prevent any further damage.
Congrats on quitting though, give yourself a pat on the back!
smoking will reduce arterial size and swollen gums are a sign of disease and por brushing technique. brush from top row then lower teeth, make sure you floss tale approx 10 seconds on each tooth. rinse well with mouthwash. if gums still bleed After 3 weeks see the dentist it may be an underlying infection etc requiring treatment.
Everything will get better.

Take note of the info on your gums as they said if gums still bleeding get checked.

I-ve been smoking everyday and night for about 4 years now (but I have a job and everything)
Me and my boyfriend have decided to stop smoking weed and tobacco altogether.
Has anyone done this after smoking this much and regained all your passion and emotions and brains?!
ty
No you will not be normal and you will still have hemorrhoids.
I did the same thing in college.......I was never not normal b/c I smoked, I was still full functional, it just added some relaxation from stress......only difference was I was a little slower. After quitting for my job, food tastes the same (I still love to eat wierd things), movies are still funny, and my thoughts are still very random. You-ll be fine.......the only thing I miss about it is the gathering with friends while doing it. Other than that, I don-t notice much of a difference. But everyone is different.
Yes, it will all come back and you-ll be fine, though it may take a while since you-re habituated and have THC in your system.
Ya, weed has no known long term side effects, after a few months you should be completely back to normal.
That-s a good question when you get a good answer let me know because I was thinking about doing the same thing
it may take a while to get back to normal... but you will! good luck!

Im 28. and have been smoking weed for 15 years many times a day. I quit a week ago because it kills my motavation. I allways use to get high and jerk off befor bed. Now when i do it it seems soft and dosent squirt like it use to. What should I do? I was thinking of smoking again to see if that might fix it.
lol, its because weed makes it like 3x better and no sober people will ever know it, dont be a b*tch and blame weed for u being lazy, get off ur *** and enjoy the high

peace, smoke up
sorry dude but once it-s gone...it-s gone
Weed can increase erections
Also it makes men and women horny

ur so used to it psychologically that you cant get it up as good

its all in your head mainly

or possibly you have ED and the weed used to fix it and now you stopped taking it
Just wait it out man...This may be because cannabis affects the same part of your brain as viagra does. So if you take viagra and cannabis together they will counteract. This may be on the lines of what is going on with you my man, that when it is takin away that stimulant in your reporductive system is affected.
Youve had it in your system for a long time so your body and mind are going through a lot of changes, its probably more of a psychological thing, less vivid fantasies etc. The best thing to do is to get fit. Plenty of jogging and cardiovascular activity will improve your blood circulation which will lead to harder, longer erecetions. One week is still no time to be off weed, it takes over a month to leave your system totally so in a months time if the problem is still there and bothering you, go see a doc
Sounds like a very sad situation, I would go to see a urologist immediately. When doing so, please be completely honest as to all of the specifics of your long-term marijuana use. In all honesty, I don-t think you becoming a pothead again is going to -do the trick-.
ummm.... no
smoking isnt the best idea, thats horrible for you and i give you props for quitting

your body isnt used to the change, but it should regulate eventually

=D

Will I lose the weight I gained when I quit smoking? -

I don-t feel that I am eating more yet I have gained about 7 pounds since I quit smoking 3 months ago. I still watch what I eat and exercise 3-4 times a week. Is this temporary?
I quit smokin 5 months ago ..I gained at least 10 pounds more...I didn-t think I was eating more....but the food does taste now....I never realized it had a taste....I still worked out but I am actually thinking of starting to smoke again...I want to lose my weight again...and nothing else is working! Sad but true...the only thing stopping me is that I hate the smell of smoke on ur clothes...I didn-t think I smelled bad...but now I can smell a smoker a mile away! its nasty...and I must have smelled like that too....and here I was puttin on nice perfume and everything! good luck too u...
YES!!!
it is not temporary
you are eatimg more or you are pregnant
Yes don-t worry stick to your routine, if you want to speed it up a bit add more fiber because smoking is like a mild laxitive and hence the body has less time to absorb the fat and calories fiber will do the same
Smoking actually increases your metabolism, which makes you burn more calories, I actually gained 100 lbs over a 2 year period, and the weight gain started when I stopped smoking. I have lost it since then

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Good LUCK!
everyone is different but alot of people do put on more weight when they quit smoking!
Maybe you are now substituting food for cigarettes. Now you are reaching for food without realizing it. Admire you for quiting smoking. I did it cold turkey in 1976 July 4Th. It was the best
thing I ever did (besides getting married and having children) in my
life. Don-t start to smoke again. my husband had his right lung
removed. lived a year on oxygen then died a very painful.horrible
death. Diagnosis Lung cancer from SMOKING!!!!

What is the most effective way to quit smoking? -

and please dont say cold turkey, I think I-d go crazy If I had to do that.
I quit using nicotine patches. For the first week on patches I allowed myself 4 or 5 smokes a day, then quit, and just went with patches. Chew gum or something, that helps.
You can usually get patches a bunch cheaper on ebay.
dont worry about gaining weight. if you do gain weight, then it is probably healthy.

the best way to quit would be to not start in the first place.(sorry, i know that sounds really insensitive, but trust me when i say...been there, done that. and im only 15)

if you dont smoke for two weeks, then the nicotine is totally out of your body and system, you just have the habit of smoking left...and once you find something to do instead of smoke then you should be totally off it.

you could try::
-brain teasers (cross words/suduku/find words etc)
-gardening
-exercise (walking/running/gym/cycling etc)
-cooking (cakes/biscuits/breads etc)
-meet up with friends
just anything to take your mind off smoking and you-ll be fine
Good Luck, i wish my friend would quit
Smoking is a vice, get another one for the transition, chew gum, sip on tea. Cut down little by little, and substitute with some other type of vice, do this little by little and don-t focus so much on the quitting aspect, in time you will find it easier to quit. Good luck, I really hope it works out for you. Chamomile tea is a nice stress reliever too. You can do it!!!
Please go and see your private doctor. They are the experts to treat your addiction. Yes, all smokers are legal addicts but everyone can be treated but they have to want to quit. Good luck. Just remember -Your Health is your Wealth.-
the best way is not buying the box of ciggaretes

Does goldenseal work for a marijuana test? I have quit smoking cold turkey but i need to pass for a job.? -

Does goldenseal work for a marijuana test? I have quit smoking cold turkey but i need to pass for a job.? -

what is the difference between the pill and tea? does it matter if it shows up that i took goldenseal? its not illegal to take. i could be taking it for a cold or for a herbal remedy. i do not want to take any of that other detox stuff, because it does not work.. i failed a test last week by buying Vales/ Terminater Gold.. thats a joke
take cranberry pills and drink lots of water it helps clean out your urinary track or you can drink about fifteen to tweety beers and pee it out that way too. but the pills are the key it worked for me.
Most tests will look for a masking agent.

My husband quit smoking after 60 years of smoking. ? -

My husband quit smoking after 60 years of smoking. ? -

My concern is he still takes 100 cough drops a week. He use to say that they help him breath better when he smoked, so for the past 5 years he-s been taking the cough drops with his cigarettes. He quit smoking 3 months ago and I-m wondering if it is safe for him to continue with the cough drops. My question is, could they do him any harm?
It really depends on what is in the cough drops. Different kinds have different ingredients (some have some medicine in them, while others are just soothing honey and lemon, etc.). Look at the ingredients on the kind he uses and ask your doctor about it. I doubt it really helped him breath better back then though. I suspect it was just a placebo when he smoked, and now it-s a habit that has taken the place of the cigarettes.
Please go and ask a professional/Doctor.

Ok, Is their anybody that has a sure fire way to quit smoking other than the patch or gum.? -

please help if you have any input other than just quit because I-ve tried and my nerves will not allow me to.
Thanks
First you have to have it in your heart and in your mind that you really want to quit. unless you make a lifestyle change you won-t make it. If you have it in those two places then you have made the first step. This is going to sound crazy but when I quit I decided that I was going to do it on my own and cheap and I wasn-t going to get fat doing it. What I did was I always kept a 1 liter bottle of water in my hand. Any time I felt the urge to smoke I drank water until the urge passed. Sometimes I thought I was going to drown, and I had to pee every 15 minutes for a while, BUT I think that the water helped flush the nicotine out of my system fster because I didn-t get the jitters or cranky and the like. It took about a week of drinking about a liter an hour and peeing about 40 times a day before I quit thinking about wanting to smoke. If your heart and mind are in the right place you will do whatever it takes to accomplish your goal. Good Luck and God Speed!
that sounds like it should work and she has a point

Drink alot of water it takes the cravings away. They say the cravings last as long as it takes to smoke, Just keep on drinking water. I wish you the best of luck. It-s not easy.
Might ask Dr for anti anxiety drug like ativan
I quite on Nov. 05,2006 this year.It has taken much work for me this time, it is now my 2nd time I have quit in my life time. I had a very good Dr. to work with me we started by finding that I had huge Anxity so we started there then moved to the Depression that I was so unaware that I had and treated it with Welburtin 2 x a day and then I had to call and tell here that we were still missing 8 hours of my day and once we moved me to 3 doses a day it became a little easier to achive. I have worked on this for 2 years now and have managed to quite for the last time. You must remeber that it will take practice to be a non-smoker just like when you became a smoker!
I forgot to tell you I live with a smoker who has not a clue what COPD really is!
But all in good time, he had to watch me take a breathing treatment today in ER. The Biggest secret there is, is you, how much can you learn about why you like to smoke??? Me oh that is easy now but at one time I had no clue at all. So for me it would be the weight control, anxity and depresion, that little pick me up I needed every few hours, pain releafe for me as I have deterating disk disease oh and by the way that was caused by smoking(Per my surgeon) as well as the tooth loss(Per the many dentist trips) I now have at 43. So you need to know why you smoke go buy you a special notebook that will be your Descover Yourself Notebook buy your favorite color or cartoon, I love Phoo!
You must learn to be patient with yourself it may not happen all at once be forgiving of any slips you may have because as long as you learn each time you try the next time it will get a little easier and a little longer between times you smoke and don-t forget to reward yourself for each little babby step you do. I buy things that I can wear and then share with the girls at work why I bought it and I still keep a calender of each day checked off as it goes by unsmoked (today is #47) and people at work will ask me what day I am on.
Let me know how it is going and if I can be of any help. You can email me on the weekends at coffeeplease@sbcglobal.net.
PRAY HARD!! That-s how I quit 17 years ago (never relapsed) after smoking for 19 years or so. I was smoking 3 packs a day. I tried filters, patches, gum, hypnosis and acupuncture -- none of which worked.

Be aware that you will go through withdrawal (first 72hrs). That is how long it takes your body to clean itself of nicotine. After that you will not be physically addicted, but you will still have the -habits- that go with smoking. -- Find something else to do with your hands when you are nervous. I used sunflower seeds.
This book worked for my friend:

The other answers are great, too. Remember, everybody stops smoking sooner or later. The people who love you will be so glad you chose -sooner.- (Four of my friends have died already, and another is in the hospital right now... )
Yes I do know how to quit once and for all. I smoked for about 25 years and was smoking 2-2.5 packs a day when I finally quit. While I was beginning to quit my mother became ill with Ovarian Cancer as well adding quite a bit of personal stress and grief to my life at the time, but after she died I was able to quit and here is the simple way I did it. Note it is not pain free however.

I began to stop smoking with a plan, First I set a date and prior to that date I began to limit how ofen I could smoke, setting longer intervals between each cig as a beginning. Then I trew out all my ashtrays and any smoking accessories lighters ect.. I also got a prescription for the patch and on my last night I tossed the last couple of smokes (some people actually smoke the extras, not a good idea). I put a patch on and went to bed. This was 5 days after my mother passed.

The next day I got up and yes I wanted one but resisted, I used the fact that the greatest gift I could give my mother dead or alive was to quit to help.

Ok so what was my secret... I suffered terribly as you will however this time I made sure to really feel my wihdrawl pain and it was bad. Everytime I wanted a smoke I asked myself do I really want to have to go though this pain ever again? My answer then and now is F%%% NO!! I knew if I started ever again I would need to quit again someday and in all honesty I do not like to suffer.

So I used that pain and suffering to not have -just 1 smoke- and continue to quit as otherwise I would prolong the pain. Today I have not smoked for about 9 1/2 years, once in a blue moon I feel the urge to have a smoke but just ask my self -do you ever really want to have to quit again?- Since I don-t it is just a minute or two and the desire passes. So it can be done, it is hard, it is painful, you will suffer. but by God it is worth it. And yes I know that I gave my mother the best damn gift I could ever give her as well.

Take the time to love yourself buy yourself a nice dinner with the money you saved. It is best to stay away from things closely related to smoking. Take a warm bath when your craving, ask for your friends support mostly if they do smoke. Oh and if you live with a smoker ask them to quit with you or to at least help you by smoking outside from now on. Don-t force them but ask them out of love to help.

Good luck, it can be done. But remember every painful moment and don-t let yourself forget, it just takes 1 cig to make you go through it all again.

Peace
Hire Me, I-ll follow you around with strict physical disciplinary action if you try to smoke plus verbal moral support to help your mental state.............DEAL or NO DEAL?
I-m not trying to put you off but here is a way to do it guaranteed. Pray, and ask at least 3 people who are really into prayer to pray for you. Ask God to give you strength to resist, ask God to help you and then totally, I mean totally rely on Him and you-ll be days ahead of the patch or gum. I-m truly not trying to be offensive, but this will work. The Bible says, -Cast ALL your cares on Him for He cares for you.-
Nobody has a 100% effective way to stop smoking, it-s not an easy thing to do, however, there are many different products on the market to help people, each of which with a different rate of success in general, and for each person.
There are patches and gums and inhalers, there are pills and devices to help you time your cigarettes and gradually wean yourself. There are support groups - you name it and it-s probably out there.
If you-re trying to quit and having a lot of trouble, talk to your doctor, he can help you find a way that may help you.
Theres a prescription drug called Zyban which works extremely well. Myself, and 4 friends have successfully quit smoking after years of doing it.
The only side effect we noticed was a few bad dreams, but they-re definitly worth quitting for
