I quit smoking about two months ago, and Im still getting the tight chest - help!? -

Yeah so I quit two months ago and I keep getting the horrible tight chest feeling in the morning when I wake up like I-ve been out the night before and smoked 40 cigarettes. What-s that about?
I don-t know from your question if you are taking any meds or if you have something like emphysema or copd which would help with an answer.

I had some of that when I quit but I have both emphysema, copd use meds all the time and also on oxygen. The meds the doctor gave me to help was an over the counter pill called mucenex its an expectorant that helps break up the congestion. You need to get rid of all the crap that the lungs collected from all the smoking you have done.

You have given yourself the best gift you can give yourself by stopping smoking. Please do not go back it simply isn-t worth it.

What seems to be the easiest way to quit smoking? -

I started smoking when I was 11( That-s right). I-ve never tried to quit but my States sudden hike in the tabacco tax has brought cigarettes up to $5.50/pack......HELP!!!
I stopped cold turkey (after 40 years), four years ago and it was my shear determination that I was not going to fail, to have my friends (who mainly smoke) tease me about failing. So I guess I am pleased I can be really pig-headed at times!!!
stop buying....
If you want to do it without patches or anything-
-Try to cut back, like instead of having 10 a day try to cut it back to like 8per day. then eventually 6per day. etc..
-Tell yourself you don-t get to have one. (Like if your at work you know you cant have one so just tell yourself that)
-chew on things= gum, straws, etc..
-eat alot
hope this helps
its hard but do it cold turkey and eat everything is site.
cold turkey
I quit cold-turkey by substituting a little cud of Day-s Work chewing tobacco under my gums for about 3 weeks back in 1963. It worked -- been off since. There ARE also commercial substitutes that have come along since then. Ask your druggist. You-ll never regret quitting. NOT quitting has other regrets. . good luck.. (mytimetoquit.com)

Whats a good way to get someone to quit smoking? -

I quit about 12 years ago, and now I-m now trying to get my brother to stop.
Any ideas?
Like many others I smoked when I was young but managed to kick the habit before I was totally hooked, I was lucky and suffered no damage to my health. But for a close friend it was different, even though she was only a moderate smoker, her health was being seriously affected and getting worse with time. Now this is where I really sympathize with smokers. She like many smokers knew the dangers and had genuinely tried many different ways to quit smoking. She tried patches, hypnosis and read several books on the subject of quitting, nothing had worked. She always ended back at square one, knowing she needed to quit, but how, nothing had a lasting effect. That was until she tried Smoke Deter.

So why am I telling this, because I played a small part in her success. You see I heard about Smoke Deter through my son, his best mate had quit smoking using Smoke Deter and I convinced my friend to try it. She was very skeptical, but I was so concerned about her health that I said that if it didn-t work I would pay for it, so she had nothing to lose and that convinced her. That was a year and five months ago, it worked and she is no longer a smoker, she has never has the urge to smoke since she quit using Smoke Deter, that-s a fact and it-s the only product she tried that she-s happy to tell others about.

Smoke Deter is an herbal based liquid oral spray that is used 3 times a day, this is also supplemented with herbal pills which when combined is very effective at reducing your nicotine cravings. How quickly it works depends on the extent of your habit, it can work as quickly as 2 weeks or may take 3 months, regardless of the time, your health is worth the effort to kick your smoking habit.

Smoke Deter also offers a lifetime free membership support program, so you are never on your own, help is available 24 hours a day if you feel the need, like if your resolve is weakening. That-s what I like about Smoke Deter it changes your whole attitude to smoking, it works on your mind as well as your body. Unfortunately I-ve seen the damage smoking has done within my own family and also in my circle of friends, consequently I-m fully aware just how hard it is to stop smoking without some kind of help. I-ve seen first hand how Smoke Deter helped my friend quit smoking and so it-s not surprising she can-t say enough about it. So if this article brings Smoke Deter to your attention and as a result helps you kick the smoking habit, then for me writing about it has been worthwhile.

So if you-ve been wondering if these quit smoking products work, well I guess some do and some don-t, but one that has my recommendation is Smoke Deter, I-ve personally seen it work when other methods failed. I-m happy to pass that information on so that others looking for a safe natural way to quit can try Smoke Deter if they wish.

If you would like more helpful information on Smoke Deter or other free quit smoking information, you may like to visit the url in the source box below. It seems to confirm some of my comments and is dedicated to helping smokers improve their health, fitness and beat the smoking habit.

How can I help my boyfriend quit smoking? -

My boyfriend of two years has been trying to quit for ages. He was NOT a smoker when we started dating, and since he started smoking he has a lower sex drive, bad circulation, and has gotten out of shape. It-s wreaking havoc on our sex life.

Is there a nice way that I can encourage him without sounding like a nag?
Theres a site where people go to who write testimonials and mini blogs on how they successfully gave up smoking.

http://www.detoxinsider.com/testimonial.…

It might help you get some ideas on how you can help him instead of being a nag as you say

Good luck
Perhaps you-re trying to quit smoking for the first time, or the tenth time. Either way, you need all the help you can get! SMOKE DETER is designed to help relieve the multiple symptoms that plague your body when trying to break the smoking habit, using natural herbs known in homeopathy to help relieve such symptoms as:

?Shortness of breath
?Stuffy head
?Nausea
?Cold Sweats
?Insomnia
?Aches and pains
?Irritability and anxiety
?Increased appetite

A liquid oral spray, SMOKE DETER is absorbed quickly into the blood vessels under the tongue. Our sublingual application is the preferred method to deliver homeopathic ingredients to combat your symptoms so you can feel better quickly.

SMOKE DETER is designed to relieve multiple symptoms, and can be safely used with no drowsiness or adverse side effects.

If you want more information:
Nope, any way you encourage him to quit will be like nagging. The only way for him to quit is if he wants to. I have quit so many times, but I always went back. I-ve tried the gum, but it tastes like crap and burns the back of my mouth. In my opinion, the patches work best. Maybe you could buy him a box of patches, but only when he-s ready to quit.
And be ready for him to be cranky as hell. :)
i follow joelmadden on twitter and i know he-s trying to stop smoking by using an electrical cigarette... id never heard of them before, and i dont know where you live or if you can get them there, but he reckons its really helping him and he-s tried quitting millions of times before.
If you-re a smoker too then stop. If not then just make smoking an inconvenience for him. Tell him that you can-t take the smell anymore or that you cough too much when he smokes around you. Slowly it will take its toll and he-ll change.
he wasnt a smoker till you hooked up ehhhhhhhhh? just shove it down his throat when he pulls one out, and i mean his penis. that didnt make sence, but thats okay. and that how you spell okay people, not ok. lazy america
Next time he asks for some gum, then give him nicotine gum, gradually encourage him and explain to him how your feeling, good luck!
Dont kiss him anymore. Tell him that you refuse to make out with someone who tastes like an ashtray.
If you hate smoking. Don-t date smokers. That-s just common sense.
Give him an impression you are loosing interest in him, flirt with someone else in a subtle manner. When questioned.....u know what to do...

Ive tried the hypnosis, gum, cold turkey, etc... smoking sucks and I don-t want to do it anymore.... as i light up
You have to want to.
I was smoking about 3 packs a day, and I just decided to quit and I did cold turkey.
when you find out I want to know too, I can pick one up without thinking at times and I so want the smell out of my clothes, out of my hair and out of my home
This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quite smoking 2 years ago

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

Medical Endorsements

A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health

“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”

Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees

“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”

Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital

“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”

Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong

“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”

Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London

”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”

Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP

“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”

Celebrity Endorsements

-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson

“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

GOOD LUCK!
You need to really want this. Try hypnosis again, but commit to it. Regress if you need to... with hypnosis.
I think you are already on the right path and you should be proud of yourself..I gave up smoking nearly 2 years ago and it was the best thing I have ever done,no kidding..ok so it was difficult, I won-t lie..my method was to use the nicotine patches ( the 24 hour kind) and I used them for only 4 weeks, what happens with the 24 hour patch , is while you sleep, you are getting the hit of nicotine that your body craves in the morning, but the side effects turn you off the patches,,you will have some sleepless nights and the most vivid craziest dreams for a couple of weeks..try it, I can really recommend it.and throw out every ashtray, lighter, and any other stuff that reminds you of smoking. If you like to have a smoke after dinner, eat an apple instead..if you like one with a tea or coffee, chew on a breadstick or something, and try to keep your hands occupied as much as possible..and the most important thing, get out and get active, do something that will boost your confidence and self esteem...just to let you know that I ride the bus to work and when someone sits beside me who smokes,I can smell it and it turns my stomach.. I think you can really do it if you want and since you tried before , you know what to expect..best of luck and get healthy !!! :)
i have a friend who quit with nicotine patches
I think it is something YOU have to want. My husband smoked for 8 years and he quit while deployed in Iraq. It was just his time to quit. He said that he didn-t want to die from something that could have been prevented. He did use the patch for two weeks...but that was it.

Good luck and you CAN do it!!
go get your ears zapped, its crazy but it works
Quitting smoking is extremely difficult. The withdrawl makes us not want to, but we know the risks and we know that they are not worth it. For anyone who wants to end their nicotine addiction, check out www.stopsmokingcleveland.com. This is the MOST effective method on the market. It is 86% effective and the details of the program are on the website (no signing up or submitting your information).

I tried this program and it changed my life. I-ve tried ACS, patches, gum, hypnosis, accupuncture. I-ve done them all.
P.S. Allen Carr is only 20% effective.

Quit smoking a week and a half before surgery. will i have a problem with the general anesthetic? -

You should discuss this with your doctor. He or she is the only one who could give you the best answer. Good luck : )
I stopped on the morning of my surgery - a hernia in the groin. I had my last cigarette about 2 hours before I went under the knife. I also had a slight cold. So when I woke after the op I was soon coughing and spluttering and suffering great pain in the area of my wound. I have only ever smoked on stage as an actor since then. Take this opportunity to give up for good. I hope you have given up in time. Good luck!!!
no you should be fine, don-t smoke for 2 weeks after your surgery either, the only reason is because after surgery if you smoke and cough it hurts more.

Yesterday, I don-t know WHY, I started chewing on a tube of flavored lip gloss, to the point of the product leaking out. I-ve had it in my mouth since then, but I have no desire for a cigarette. Is it just normal to chew on something or is there some addictive property of the lip gloss itself?
Normal to chew... Get some straws or drink stirs ( coffee stirs ) those are good to chew on
what you-re experiencing is called an oral fixation -- you-re used to having a cigarette in your mouth to relieve stress, and now that it-s gone you-re replacing it with other things.
it-s not exactly dangerous to do what you-re doing, but there are a few things you should be careful of. don-t chew anything hard that could chip or crack your teeth. don-t chew anything that might break apart into pieces you could swallow or splinter into sharp ends. all that extra chewing can also put unnecessary strain on your jaw joints and muscles, which can lead to pain and locking (quite unpleasant), and having something in your mouth all the time can actually shift your teeth out of alignment too.
it-s really best to wean yourself out of the habit. when you notice you-re chewing on something, don-t indulge. put it down. try to discipline yourself to not do it. it-ll take time and patience, but it can be done. in the meantime, be careful!
You-re just used to having something in your mouth. I-d try drinking straws or coffee stir sticks. Often, smoking addictions happen because of the need for something to have something in your mouth as a stimulant. Have you ever been diagnosed with ADD? It-s a common desire among ADD individuals to occupy their body physically all the time.
A lot of times the addiction of smoking is the oral fixation. As long as your keeping your hands and mouth busy, you really wont need the cigarette. I hope you are not doing it cold turkey because that`ll work for a week or 2 then suddenly you`ll have an urge so strong you`ll give in. Good luck to you and it`s better to chew on lipgloss then a cancer stick.
I quit smoking four days ago, but in doing so gained a new addiction?? -

Has anyone out there quit smoking? -

I quit smoking about three weeks ago (for Mother-s Day). I realllllly want one right now. I-ve been daydreaming about chain smoking an entire pack. How long will the desire to smoke last?
They say that the craving for cigarettes never goes away unfortunately. Keep reminding yourself how well you-re doing and how proud everyone is of you. Tell yourself how much healthier you are and how much better you feel. Think about all the disgusting chemicals and tar in cigarettes. You-ve done really well to go three weeks without a smoke, it would be a real shame if you gave into the temptation.

Good luck!!!
The idea of quiting smoking, or just to quite something that has been a habit, and or a addition has been man-s journey for all ages.

I use to smoke two packs/day. When I committed my life to Christ, The Savior, the addition was taken away, at that time I chose to quite. Mind you, three days after giving my heart to Christ, I tried to smoke a cigarette, I threw it down, thinking how nasty it tasted. It has been almost eight years since I smoked.

My hope, is in Christ for you my friend. God bless.
just smoke marijuana

and chew nicorette

Do you want a cig right now?
I just quit smoking recently in TX cigs went up a dollar a pack so I quit cold turkey smoked the last one in my pack and was done with it. I havent smoked in a mnth and a half. Those patches and gum are crap. I have got a friend that been using the gum for almost six months and still is using the gum. Yea I sometimes want a ciggarette after I eat still but its much easier now that its been a while since I smoked the cravings go away after about three days. Good luck the first three days are the roughest but after that its ok. I feel so much healthier now. smoke your last cig and put them down dont buy anymore. Trust me it easier than trying to slowly stop smoking them.
I just quit cold turkey....and I still crave one..it-s only been a month. The first time I quit for 5 years cold trukey and through the whole 5 years i still wanted one..I think I just have good self control. I statred up again because of stress..it was dumb and I finally had enough. I felt like crap from smoking..and WHy smoke it increases ur risk for so many other disease, If I can prevent cancer by no smoking then why smoke. Just the thought of how bad it is for your health should be enough for you to quit, knowing what u are doing to your body.
wat a stupid que to ask cant u read or dont u have a doc people cud be so aargh
easy i never started lol..
Sorry I don-t smoke! I never did so I can-t quit.
Just told myself to quit and I did. Never smoked again and now I hate the sight of anyone with a stink stock between their lips.
I quit cold turkey. Smoked my last cigarette and didn-t buy anymore. None of my friends smokes so I couldn-t bum one off them. I don-t want a cig right now although I remember how good the first inhale feels. Ahhhh!
decide one day that smoking was a waste of time and money, beer was a much better drug. Got older and gave up beer too. Have no desire for either.
Cold turkey. No, the smell of them kills me now.
They didn-t agree with a med I began taking for my bipolar disorder-made my vision blurry-so, I decided to quit. I just told myself that if I didn-t buy any, I wouldn-t have any to smoke.

Gum, lots and lots of gum helps.
no I-ll never smoke...but i heard drinking alot of water helps

i dont need to go to doctor but i any suggestions, Please help!
plz dont say stuipd stuff cuz i really want to quit smoking i m 16 years old i used to do good in school now i dont. i have a bad rep in school n i m really stressed out .
if your really stressed about it,
then stop smoking, turn things
around for yourself, you can do
it, i dont think its possible to get
addicted to weed i think thats all
just in your head. But you can
change things for yourself. my sister
is the same way, and since she was
i was, but everytime she still asks
me i tell her no because i dont want
to ruin my future plans and that i
want to do good in school and dont
want a bad rep.
Just stop, cold turkey. Find something else to do with your time-- run, bike, shoot some hoops, pick up a book and read. Stay away from burn-outs who encourage you to keep smoking. Focus on your school work! That is what-s important. It-s not too late to get your sh*t together and turn yourself around.
take all your weed and bury it or toss it in a river or something. and then yuo wont be able to smoke any. and put your money somewhere where you cant get it (have a friend hole onto it or something) so you cant buy anymore. and just wait it out.

i dont know if that would be bad for your system or not quiting that abruptly but thats just a suggestion. i donno i never did drugs before.
start lifting weights. This in turn will inspire you to eat healthy and do healthy things.
You should have never started. First of all, you-re only 16. Second, it can kill you. Third, it-s extrememly illegal.
Clearly the side effects of smoking marijuana are showing, your progress is declining. Motivate yourself and set a goal. When you quit for sure, treat yourself to something nice.
One day at a time.

One hour at a time.

Just don-t smoke today. Don-t worry about tomorrow.
Quit that s**t, cold turkey. Don-t sit in on sessions, don-t hang with stoners, don-t go out for fresh air during parties. Remove yourself completely and utterly from that atmosphere.

Yeah, life without weed is boring at first. So find something to keep you occupied - not passive, but active. Passive=watching tv, just sitting around, playing games=bad=more weed. Active=exercise, relationships, clean friends, housework, all that=good. You just need to occupy the hands and mind long enough to get back into the old routine. And you-ll be able to get your life back on track pretty soon.

Whatever you do, don-t look for a substitute or something -lighter- to take the edge off. The headaches and shakes, and the boredom, will pass soon enough.
The best way to quit smoking weed is cold turkey. Try not to hang out with people that smoke it. Put all the money you spend on weed aside and save up for something you really want. Once you stop smoking, you will notice an increase of energy and your grades will start going up. I know weed helps you -relax-, but in the long run, it really does not. If you are around people that smoke, leave the room and/or go somewhere else. Only you can quit smoking. You have the power to quit. Think about all the things that really matter to you most.

Reward yourself every time you pass up the chance to smoke.

Ok I turned 40 on tuesday and I have smoked for 22 yrs...I decided when I turned 40 I was done....I have not had one since Monday night and I feel like crap....I want to have a smoke but I know if I do I will go right back to a pack a day....any suggestions? My jaw hurts sooooooooo bad from chewing gum.....I know this will pass but right now it is really bad
First of all, congratulations on taking this huge step. As an ex-smoker, I really know how difficult quitting smoking can be. My advise to you is to stick it out, do not have one, thinking you can just have one. That is a trap that you do not want to get into if you are serious about quitting. Keep doing what you are doing. I used to chew on straws. I would get the oral satisfaction of having something in my mouth, I could chew on it, and I could use my hands to play with it in my mouth. It really helped, you should have seen the back seat of my car, covered in chewed up straws! lol OK I know that sounds gross, but it got me through and now I have almost 4 years of not smoking under my belt.
Oh yeah, feeling like crap is normal the first few weeks. Just accept you will feel like crap and don-t think about what you can do to get rid of the feeling (i.e., smoke just -one- cigarette, etc). It will pass, I PROMISE. But I won-t lie, it is going to be really tough going for a while yet. HANG IN THERE! If I could do it, anybody can do it.
And....HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)
Exercise. I worked out every day when i quit and it worked. Remember if you don-t have one for 21 days you are all set. Good Luck i guarantee you will feel better soon.
I quit 1 year ago. At first I used commit, and I only used it for a few weeks. After that I went to hard candy like pepperments and cinnimion dics and I used them for a long time. Thenthose got old so I started eating mentos the mint kind and well that was costing me alot of money so I started using candycanes. I dont really need anything anymore. I am glad I quit. Yeah I have gained weight but now I am in the mists of losing it . Keep trying and dont go back
Wow your doing great! I quit smoking for lil over a year and I would chew gum and had peppermint candy-s, like those icebreaker kind. Since your going to be on your second week already, your cravings are all down here from now. It will get easier as each day passes.
Try to keep your self busy so you won-t think about it. When I quit I would dust everything the house over and over..lol
I-m sure you have a hobby you can get back into.
Smoking takes up a lot of time out of your daily life. Now you can take all that extra time and do what ever you been putting off to do.
Good luck to you!!!
This sounds more like a confession than a question. Try the patch or nicorette gum, I just recently the cinnamon..tastes pretty good. I-ve also have friend who-ve used Chantix( ask your doc for a free sample ).If you smoke after you-ve had the patch on for about 6hrs, they taste like crap. Ultimately it-s up to YOU these just get you started you-ve gotta break from your old habits and sort of re-wire yourself. By the way if your jaw hurts from the gum, you-re probably chewing like it-s going out of style. Try the Chantix you actually ween yourself off the smokes.

My parents are going to quick smoking for their health. What are some good reasons for them to quit so i can send them to them?
Answers much appreciated.
:D
Because it makes them stink. It hardens the arteries. It is asking for cancer in many forms. It-s a disgusting habit that most people find repugnant. it shortens your life span. it seems like they probably allready know this stuff since everyone else on the planet does. If you smoke inside the cigerette smoke coats everything in the house and makes it dingy. YOu get nasty yellow stains on your hands, mustache whatever. Your clothes smell. YOur hands smell. Your teeth turn yellow. Your face gets wrinkled and ages quicker. ....the list goes on
health sounded good enough...but hey a slow, painful, sickly death of cancer always sounds fun too so why need a reason to quit? how about lets ask ourselves why did we start and was/ is it worth it?
Your health- secondhand smoking is even more dangerous. Also, they will save tons of money- tell them to put the $$ they usually spend on cigs into a jar- after a year they will be able to go on nice vacation!

Im on the nicotine patch to quit smoking but i occasionally smoke Hookah. Is that safe to do? -

I am really disgusted and can not wait until i can look back and say that I-ve been cigarette free! I do hang out at hookah bars and although smoking cigarettes are not allowed inside it is a hookah bar and i do smoke hookah (flavored tobacco) will this give me any side effects because I-m on the nicotine patch?
Yes it is safe to do...shisha contains minimal traces of nicotine and tar making it impossible to -overdose-. Being around cigarettes might make you want to start up again, but smoking hookah shouldn-t have any effect that will make you want to start smoking cigarettes again.
I-ve tried just about every method there is out there and there is only one I can recommend - NLP! It eliminates the cravings.
Gum patches and all the other just did not cut it for me, not to mention cold turkey which was the hardest, I even tried the electric cig and it is just no match to the real thing.

it’s the one that got me off the cigs and smoke free for GOOD even without gaining weight! :)

Good luck kicking the habit!
Matthew.
stay away from anything involving tobacco!!!! and do not take the patch and also smoke tobacco, that is like a tobacco overload to your body and you will get very very sick if you consume too much tobacco! try replacing nicotine with gum, the patch doesnt work at all. stay out of hookah bars at all times or else you will never quit smoking tobacco. the nicotine gum works really well but you end up getting addicted to the gum but its a lot easier to stop the nicotine gum than it is to stop smoking tobacco. i quit cold turkey myself. it was a very hard rough 1st week but after that you can control the desire to smoke tobacco. and you also feel better about yourself and you dont smell like cigarettes. well good luck !
It is not a good idea to take a flavored tobacco product while using the nicotine patch. You are increasing your dependence on nicotine and decreasing your chances of being tobacco/nicotine free. Breaking a nicotine dependence is hard to do. I think this site can help. (www.u-can-quit-smoking-cigarettes.com)

Why are you even bothering with the nicotine patch if you-re smoking hookah? You shouldn-t even go into a smokey bar when you-re trying to quit.
All cigarettes cause damage to the human body. Hence, any smoking is dangerous. Cigarettes are the only legal product whose advertised and intended use - smoking - is known to harm the body and cause cancer.

Research has confirmed that even smoking as few as 1 to 4 cigarettes a day can lead to serious health outcomes, including an increased risk of heart disease and a greater chance of dying at a younger age.

Spit, oral, smokeless, chewing, and snuff tobacco, snus (sounds like -snoose-) - a type of moist snuff first used in Sweden, smoking pipes or cigars, clove cigarettes (kreteks), bidis, hookahs, are all different forms of tobacco and are equally dangerous. Even if the health risks were smaller for some tobacco products as opposed to others, all tobacco products contain nicotine, which can lead to increased use and addiction. Do not think tobacco is safe in any amount or form.

Due to the unpleasantness of the withdrawal symptoms, many people who try to quit smoking end up replacing the cigarettes with some other type of addiction. This may be an addiction to prescription medication, such as sleeping tablets or tranquilizers, or an addiction to food. While you will definitely experience the health benefits of giving up nicotine, no one wants to replace one addiction with another!

A healthy diet, adequate exercise as well as natural and holistic treatments such as acupuncture, massage and herbal and homeopathic remedies can also help the smoker overcome nicotine addiction. Herbal and homeopathic treatments are a safe and effective means to reduce nicotine cravings (without giving you more nicotine) and will also help to prevent weight gain and alleviate anxiety and irritability. Basically, natural and holistic treatments not only lessen the urge to smoke, but also help you to restore balance in your body.

There are a number of ingredients such as Avena sativa, Garcinia cambogia and Gotu Cola (Centella asiatica) which will help to address the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. They reduce nicotine cravings and balance the mood.

What is the longest it could take to get past withdrawls, and what are some tricks to quit cold turkey? Thank you!
Been there. Take it ten minutes at a time. -I-m going to wait another ten mins before I have a smoke.- Ten mins later, see if you can go another ten (you might even be distracted by something else and forget about your smokes). Take very very small steps. Every minute you go without a cigarette, you are killing the addiction monster a little more. Drink lots of water. DO NOT drink coffee, beer or other beverages that trigger your urge. I never smoked in bed, so at first, I spent a lot of time in bed. Takes about a week to get over the worst of it. Then each day makes a big difference in your health. I didn-t really mingle in public for about a month, so I could avoid second hand smoke that would trigger my urge again.
It is great you are thinking of quitting smoking but I don-t believe going cold turkey is the way to do it.

Cutting down or going cold turkey don-t usually work because they give nicotine the power, not the other way around. The vast majority fail to quit using these methods.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, hypnosis or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

Good Luck and Good Quitting

It usually takes a few months for things to become tolerable. Figure two years for most or all symptoms to disappear. Some people never stop craving it, in others the symptoms resolve more quickly.

If I may be frank, it-s time to stop screwing around with cold turkey -- you-ve already demonstrated that that won-t work for you. This has nothing to do with -will power- and everyting to do with genes and smoking patterns. Get some Chantix and quit for real.
I really agree with the previous post. Finding something to take your mind of the smoking will honestly help. My mother used to eat sunflower seeds as a way to keep herself busy. As far as getting past withdraws, I believe it depends on the amount of time you spent smoking. However, three days seems to do the trick with the really hard urges. You-ll do great, just remember that you don-t need the cigarettes and your much stronger then them. Not sure if this will help you or not, but I thought I would add that a couple of my friends kicked the habit by smoking cannabis, which is non-addictive and far less damaging to your lungs than tobacco. This way you get the smoking urge out of the way, but not smoking any nicotine. Anyway, I hope this helps.

Peace
It takes about three days to physically kick the addiction but the physiological effects are very strong as well. I don-t recommend cold turkey as few can do it successfully. I cut down gradually before quitting while building a plan to deal with the mental triggers that often cause a relapse.
well it depends how long u ben smokin for, but if u want to quit take your mind off it get another habit such as chewing gum every time you need a cigarette just chew on chewy thts how i use to quit and now i am smoke free, if the chewy doesnt work then u find another habit tht will

Why Some People Get Tight Chest After They Quit Smoking? -

I read people get tight chest after they quit smoking, I have the same experience myself. Can this be a lung healing process after years of hurting by the cigarette smoking? Thanks!
I-m not sure what you mean by -tight-. Is that wheezing and inability to move air or a feeling like a belt is tightening around your chest.
I-ll go with the wheezing though. After years of being exposed to smoke the cells that secrete mucous in your airways get larger(hypertrophy). When they reach a certain point there is no going back. That-s called Chronic Bronchitis. If you stop smoking at that point your lungs won-t get any worse but they will not get much better either. As long as the mucous glands are not being irritated any more they will secrete less mucous and therefore you will cough less. And the inflammation wil diminish too. So your airways will be able to move more air and you will notice that you can be more active without getting short of breath.
This is about as much -healing- as the lungs will do. You will feel better because of the fact that you-re not ingesting a poison(nicotine) anymore and you-re getting better ventilation in your lungs. When I use the word poison I-m not exaggerating, it really is a potent poison.
The good thing about quitting cigarettes is that the Chronic Bronchitis won-t further develop into Emphysema. Chronic Bronchitis is bad enough because it opens you up to all kinds of pneumonia, infections and other nasty stuff you don-t need to know about. But Emphysema is a killer and a very bad way to die.
I-m glad to hear that you quit. You-ve added years and years onto your life.
God bless and keep you healthy.
I think it-s more likely to be psychosomatic as a result of the nicotine withdrawal.

Nicotine withdrawal causes all sorts of symtoms including headache, nausea, anxiety - which of course can manifest as feelings of tight chestedness.

The lung healing process, although surprisingly rapid, would not result in tight-chestedness, in fact would probably be the opposite, but is more a medium to long terms benefit of stopping smoking.

I-ve tried 5 times. I think this time I did it. Won-t start back cuz I can-t afford it, it-s been 5 years now. I smoked for 40 years, about a pack a day. Before I tried the patches, they work, but there was always, I-m going to try just one, yeah, right back hooked again. This time I won-t go back cuz I don-t have the money. Sometimes I really want one, but it passes. This time I would burn a smoke part way, don-t smoke it, put it out, when I wanted one I would puff on that, don-t light it, it helped, aot. When it got ragged, I would make another one. Also, this time I quit with a CARTON, I had to know they were there if I wanted one. It-s been 4 years and the full carton is still there.
Zyban...worked like a dream
i think that-s the only way is to just quit i just did it and now realizing that i have money i didn-t even know where it came from until i think about 2 of us were smoking and just quit like that and that-s an extra 230. in our bank a month so the best way to do it is to just quit .other things i think the craving would come back if your not ready and need help it means your really not ready . because if they were the would do it on their own .
I quit cold turkey and I have been off of the stuff since October. I try not to be around it, I don-t watch movies where people are smoking, I turn away from ads, and for the nervous smoking I stick a piece of gum in my mouth and do 20 pushups more if I think about cigarettes again(its like punishing myself). Its really hard but...
I will entertain my mind by other ways than smoking . I didnt thought about smoking for about 1-2 days than it will soon be quit by itself. It will be really hard for you but you have to do it. You can also burn all the things to smoke.

Which day was the hardest when you quit smoking ? -

Which day was the hardest when you quit smoking ? -

Was it the first day ? Second ? Forth ? Were you still in contact with people who smoke ?
Mark Twain said: -Quitting smoking is easy. I-ve done it a thousand times.-
Like Mark Twain, I-ve quit several times. The longest I lasted was three years.
Each time, I-ve found that the third hour, the third day, the third week and the third month were the hardest.
I-ve gone back after three hours, three days and three weeks.
When I quit for three years, it was a non-smoker who got me hooked again. My non-smoking friend and I went fishing. He brought along a pack of cigarettes, intending to only smoke while fishing. By the end of the first day, he had had a couple of them; I-d smoked half the pack. By the time we were driving home on Sunday afternoon, I had to stop and buy my own supply.
It-s an awfully addictive habit. I hope to try kick it again soon. I work in an environment where no one else smokes (at least not publicly). And, I have very few smoking friends left.
My sister says the first couple weeks, when you just quit. Your extremely irritable. It helps to not to go out and party, or for a long drive, because that-s when you seem to crave one the most.

She-s been smoke free for a little over a month.
Probably the third or forth, they say days 3-5 are the hardest because that-s when the nicotine has left your system, it gets easier gradually after that.

Can you describe what its like to quit smoking? -

I-ve always wondered what it feels like when smokers try to quit. I just don-t get why people fail when they know how bad it is. Any insight would be appeciated, however I-m sure it will be difficult to put into words.
Horrible !!!!!!! I dont know who I am.how to act and just basically want to die....then I light up and feel normal again...Then try to quit again..
Its a constant cycle of failure, lowering my self esteam, and makeing feel like a doomed individual.
There is nothing I have done with out a cigarette and feel hopeless without them.......The health thing is always on my mind ,but I guess until they tell me I got the big C, I will smoke
In one word... stressful.
