How long does take to feel normal after you quit smoking cigarettes? -

What is the longest it could take to get past withdrawls, and what are some tricks to quit cold turkey? Thank you!
Been there. Take it ten minutes at a time. -I-m going to wait another ten mins before I have a smoke.- Ten mins later, see if you can go another ten (you might even be distracted by something else and forget about your smokes). Take very very small steps. Every minute you go without a cigarette, you are killing the addiction monster a little more. Drink lots of water. DO NOT drink coffee, beer or other beverages that trigger your urge. I never smoked in bed, so at first, I spent a lot of time in bed. Takes about a week to get over the worst of it. Then each day makes a big difference in your health. I didn-t really mingle in public for about a month, so I could avoid second hand smoke that would trigger my urge again.
It is great you are thinking of quitting smoking but I don-t believe going cold turkey is the way to do it.

Cutting down or going cold turkey don-t usually work because they give nicotine the power, not the other way around. The vast majority fail to quit using these methods.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, hypnosis or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

Good Luck and Good Quitting

It usually takes a few months for things to become tolerable. Figure two years for most or all symptoms to disappear. Some people never stop craving it, in others the symptoms resolve more quickly.

If I may be frank, it-s time to stop screwing around with cold turkey -- you-ve already demonstrated that that won-t work for you. This has nothing to do with -will power- and everyting to do with genes and smoking patterns. Get some Chantix and quit for real.
I really agree with the previous post. Finding something to take your mind of the smoking will honestly help. My mother used to eat sunflower seeds as a way to keep herself busy. As far as getting past withdraws, I believe it depends on the amount of time you spent smoking. However, three days seems to do the trick with the really hard urges. You-ll do great, just remember that you don-t need the cigarettes and your much stronger then them. Not sure if this will help you or not, but I thought I would add that a couple of my friends kicked the habit by smoking cannabis, which is non-addictive and far less damaging to your lungs than tobacco. This way you get the smoking urge out of the way, but not smoking any nicotine. Anyway, I hope this helps.

Peace
It takes about three days to physically kick the addiction but the physiological effects are very strong as well. I don-t recommend cold turkey as few can do it successfully. I cut down gradually before quitting while building a plan to deal with the mental triggers that often cause a relapse.
