Tips to quit smoking? -

I really would like to finally quit for good. The longest I-ve gone is 5 days but of course start back up. I truely enjoy it and have many things I do everyday in which I always smoke (shaving, reading paper,etc...) you know a normal routine. These are the things that always get me after a few days. If you can give me any tips or things you-ve replace a cig with I-d appreciate it. NO patches or pill suggestions please, Thank you.
Do you consume much caffeine? Hubby quit smoking about 14 months ago after 36 years. He read somewhere that nicotine actually helps break down caffeine in your system. When people cut out nicotine but keep up the caffeine it-s like the body is getting a sudden surge of caffeine which, in turn, makes it more difficult to quit smoking. He cut out caffeine at the same time as nicotine and said he found it easier to quit. He also took up excercising (weights, walking, jogging - stationary bike) to keep his mind off of it on bad days. I noticed a difference this time also (he tried quitting before)... he wasn-t as difficult to get along with and I didn-t feel a need to throttle him.... *g*
I was a smoker for 25 years and I had quit smoking for over six times ,but never really quit smoking before.Just after I read that quit smoking program, I realized how easy quitting smoking was.I am a non-smoker now! I highly recommend this program to you.It really works. You can check out

Good luck!
Chew Gum. Or get nicotine based gum.
they have smokeless cigarettes, just as a vice when you need it. oh and they also sell herbal smokes, they are free of any harm.
I was very lucky 8 yrs ago i had my last cig and threw the rest in the bin never to have another, however if you are really determined then may be a hobby or sport like gym. Don-t fall into the trap of eating as a lot of people put on weight.
Very good luck angi

Really smoking while shaving is normal?

Can you say loser?

Here-s what you do; throw away the lighter, toss those ashtrays while you-re at it, and keep the $200 plus dollars a month you spend on cigarettes in your wallet.

Now you-ll have more money and won-t stink so bad people can smell you for three blocks, upwind, anymore.
Try to focus on the fact that you don-t want to smell bad anymore, you-d like to have non-smokers as better friends, and be able to really enjoy the taste of food again.

Also, visit some lung cancer patients in a hospital.

The co-worker next to me, and another across the aisle both went cold turkey 2 years ago. I could smell them walk by 15 feet away before they stopped.
well me personally i hung around in places like hospitals or clinics as they don-t allow smoking, then i would ride the bus for a long time sometime 10 different routes a day cause you also can-t smoke on the bus, then by the time i got hom i was too tired to even think of smoking.
Choose a quitting date one week in the future.
For the next week, say goodbye to smoking by enjoying it as much as possible, guilt-free. Tell everyone around you that you are quitting in 1 week. Imagine what it would be like to not fear lung cancer, emphysema and yellow teeth.
The week before d-day, go out and buy a box of nicotine patches and a box of nicotine gum. While you-re at the drug store pick up some expectorant, some Benadryl, some really good chewing gum and some St. John-s Wort. The night before d-day, smoke all of your cigarettes. Think of all the things you hate about smoking. Calculate the money you-ll save. Do a Google search -lung cancer death- or -components of cigarette smoke-. Take three Benadryls and sleep a good eight hours. Place a patch next to your alarm clock.
The next day apply the patch as soon as you wake up. Remember the patch is there to give you a constant state of nicotine so that you can function. Grab the nicotine gum and put it in your pocket to fight sudden, intense cravings. As you make it through the first day, allow yourself every non-cigarette indulgence (except alcohol). Be aware of the slim chances you have of actually quitting for good, and congratulate yourself every hour for getting closer to it. The first night you need to completely knock yourself out with Benadryl again.
Taper your nicotine levels. Expect only mild mood swings as you reduce the nicotine levels from the patch and gum.
Quit the gum.
Quit the patch.
