I want to quit smoking but i always fail? -

Ive tried ...numerous times on my own, i can-t even count how many, and i always fail.
I have concidered going to my doctor but im not too sure because im only 17 (18 in 4 months). Ive been smoking for about 4 years now. I want to quit more than anything and i need advice.

anyone who has done it? how?
You should definitely go to your doctor. He can prescribe you a drug called chantix. It will completely take away your cravings. The medicine will start working after about a week or so and you will have to stay on the medicine for at least 3 months. Believe me, my customers are very happy with the results. There is a side effect though. They tell me that they have had some very odd dreams. i hope that I helped. Good luck!
As far as I know, weird dreams are the only side effect I know of but you can ask you doctor. Good luck!!

I smoked for fourteen years, tried to quit three times, the fourth time it took.
Don-t give up, one day it will take for you too.
What I did was save up all my cigarette butts for a week, then when I wanted a cigarette I-d pull out the jar I-d filled with butts and sniff it.
It smelled awful. I-d tell myself that-s what I smelled like and got disgusted.
Its called aversion therapy and it worked for me, its been twenty eight years since I had a cigarette, and I do sometimes miss it, but at todays prices I-m glad I quit so many years ago.
I started smoking cigs @ 10; every day by 13 ! @ 18 I was diagnosed with -chronic infectious bronchitis- - @ 21 w/ full blown Asthma - it took a couple hospitalizations where I had to fight for each breath for several days @ a time, to finally get me to go -cold turkey- - within a few DAYS I was breathing much easier ! Decades later, I RARELY need my asthma meds, even though I never gave up pot !! JUST DO IT ! - the cravings gradually lessen as time passes -
I don-t smoke- I-m only 13. But both my parents smoked when I was a baby.

Try this:

Throw all packs, and lighters away.
Get niotine gum, immediatly.

http://www.chantix.com/content/Chantix_B…

Think about this:
You-re spending over 500$ a year, buying the cigarretes. If you have been smoking for 4 years, that means you could of had 20,000$ by now.

Try the website I posted above, it should help you.

Good luck! ~~~~
It is always the right time to quit.
Do consult a doctor, there are lot of ways to help you quit. But the bottom line is that it is your decision. If you are committed you will succeed, thousands have done it before you.
you failed when you started smoking now you can do something about it,it-s all about hand to mouth try chewing gum and keep your self busy with your hands writing or anything for a while to you get over it.
=// My boyfriend did drugs. I asked him to stop and he tryed, it hurt him alot, but I helped him through it.

You should get someone that wants you to stop to help you. Hide your ciggs, and burn the packs that you buy.
Na.....don-t quit just accept to your self that you will not live long.
I-m a smoker for many years since high school and i already accept that i will die young...

If i quit smoking will the dark circles under my eyes go away, and will my skin look younger? -

Nope. You officially screwed yourself over for the rest of your life. No turning back. Your skin may not look younger but wont wrinkle as much as it does now. Try it though. Eyes may look better after some weeks/months.
it may take longer time the dark circle under your eyes go away. if you go straight enough sleep might not take long the dark circles under your eyes disappear and your skin will look younger if you stop smoking. also, eat balance diet like go straight on vegetables, enough water and milk.
Probably, in time. Not straight away.

If you have dark circles under your eyes you might not be getting enough sleep.
you-ve probibly already done a number to yourself. But, If you quit, you will age slower and it will help your eyes.
I think it’s important to really understand the causes of you dark circles before trying to treat the dark circles. My friend has serious dark circles and her dark circles are improving by following the information provided by
http://www.darkcirclesundereyescure.com

There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

http://www.mydarkcirclesblog.com/2006/11…

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water - stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath - let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off. Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K - Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

To hide dark circles, you can use YSL concealer or salmon concealer..

Dark circles I-m not sure about, but people-s skin does look older due to smoking.
Hello There,

I personally think that -if- you get to quit smoking, you will look and feel younger and have more energy as well.

My wife smoked for over 10 years and when she found out that she was pregnant with our now newborn 3 months old daughter, she had promised me that if I found a good solution for quitting, she will try her best to kick the habit.

Well in my spare time I started researching online for quit smoking programs, meanwhile she was trying out patches and gums that you can buy at grocery stores and adventually they would not work for her.

After about a week of researching I had stumbled over a website that really impressed me on what they had to offer and that they actually say that they can almost guarantee your success, and most importantly that you can try it out for free.

The company has been around for over 20 years now and they have helped over a million smokers quit since and their kit has everything that you possibly need to help you quit smoking, I thought WoW that is impressive.

I went ahead and ordered the free trial for my wife (only paid for shipping) and she has quit smoking in just two weeks and she doesn-t want to hear about or smell another cigarette again in her life :)

Now it is up to you, but since my wife has quit, I was so happy about her success, so much so that I had built a small review site of the product to also help other people quit, you can check it out at;
http://time2quitnow.com
if you want to find out more.
Thanks for reading my short story, I hope it helps, good luck and stay healthy.
Surely there will be improvement but will take time. Dark circles can treated with regular and gentle care. Check out

Anyone had trouble with excessive gas when they quit smoking? -

I did but I put it down to all the mint sweets I was eating to help me stop smoking
Well. I always have excessive gas. In the morning when I get off the bus. I burp at least 7 long extremely load burps. Then I-m fine for a while. By 3rd period I can-t stop farting. The entire period everyone will be working and I will be sitting there farting and farting and wondering weather they are getting worse or just adding together to smell worse... I do this for the entire hour 45 minutes. Leaving the class going to lunch I burp several more times. By 6th period which is PE I will be walking around farting over and over again. This time its better because I don-t have to smell it. No one can hear me outside and in class I can do it quietly and prefer to sit alone so no one ever hears or smells me... But once I fell asleep in class and heard people say I kept farting a lot and loudly... Which sucked but besides that no one seemed to care... Then I go home and at night I go to sleep. Which is hard because I keep farting myself awake. It stops me from falling asleep because it is loud and I have to keep laughing. Then I wake myself up several times at night by farting again.

This must run in the family as my brother told me that he scared himself when he farting in the bathroom while he was peeing...

Sad part is that this happens to me everyday. It is not funny. Ok it is. Its very funny. Espesially the really really loud and long ones! :-)

The point is you have to learn to love the gas. No real point to this post. Just thought someone would find this funny. :-)
no,

having a gas and quitting smoking is not related in any direct way.
only explanation that i can think of is that you have quitted smoking and
you are eating to get that mental high.

try to control your eating habits.

How Do I Quit Smoking??????????? -

I need some good advice on this, I-ve been smoking for almost 11 months - I need to stop before it-s too late,, plzzzzzzz tell me anything that u think is helpful.... I-d be extremly thankful...
Also, how does anyone know weither they have cancer ( God forbid ) ?????

Thnx alot in advance..
There you go for more info :
http://index-go.com/health_fitness_medic…

There is no way to know if have cancer or if you will develop cancer. Quite often it is detected on a doctors visist. Since you have been smoking less than a year your best bet is to just get rid of the cigarettes and buy lots of gum to chew and hard candy to suck. If you feel you need help then you can either see your doc for meds to help or use the nicotine patch or gum etc. Hubby quit smoking cold turkey over 8 years ago and he had been smoking for about 25 years so yes it can be done.
I smoked for 13 years and quit -cold turkey-. I needed to be really angry at the way I was controlled by the cigarettes so that I could quit them.
good ? when u find out please let me know, i have been trying to quit for years now and every time i try i get so irretable or stressed i start up again. i just recently had a baby and i tried to qiut when i was pg and it was such a powerful addiction i couldnt even quit then. smoking is an addiction, and iam with u i want to quit but i am having a very hard time. sorry i couldnt give u any advice, but i just thought i would let u know that u r not the only person out there wanting to quit an is having a hard time.
eurggh glad your trying to quit,

just think about al the chemicals you are putting in to your body, you might aswell drink a bottle of bleach, in a side a dirty science lab
First step in quitting smoking is that you should have the realization, will and resolve to quit. No outside aids or medication is going to help you if you lack the will to stop smoking.

I recently quit smoking like 3 months ago, up till now I am strong in my resolve. The reason being I am 40 and think its high time I quit smoking before getting into serious health trouble. I did some research on the best way to quit smoking. I am not fan of nicotine patches or gum because certain side effects are associated with them, after all it is nicotine which is a poison.

I am using a combination of hypnosis and natural remedy (Crave-RX) to quit. Hypnosis works at the subconscious level to eliminate the triggers that cause us to smoke and Crave-RX is good to reduce nicotine craving and suppress withdrawal symptoms.

The best I liked about this solution is it does not carry any side effects. People respond differently to different treatments but it worked for me. It is worth a try.

Anyway you need to find out a method that suits you visit the following link for further information…Good Luck!!
I wouldn-t worry about cancer as a result of cigarettes at this point, if you smoke another 10 years it could be a factor.
The best way to quit smoking is to stop cold turkey. Do not believe the nicotine addiction lies. Do not believe the the irresponsible propaganda put out by the big drug companies that says that since nicotine withdrawal is such a horrible experience the only way that you could possibly hope to succeed at it is by using their products to incrementally withdraw from it. This is a case of big drug companies telling big health lies. Nicotine withdrawal is no big deal -really. I-ve had colds that felt a lot worse.
They reason that both newbies like yourself and long term addicts like I once was have trouble
quiting smoking is because we are addicted to the habit not the nicotine. Addictive personality-s are addictive personality-s and the only differnce is ones choice of substance or activity.
If you approach quitting from a changing a habit perspective you will succeed if you approach it from a nicotine perspective you will not.
good luck
First of all, let me tell you some things about smoking. Hopefully, this will scare the wits out of you, and make you never smoke AGAIN.
Tobacco kills more people than alcohol, car accidents, suicide, and much much more kinds of deaths combined.
A cigarette has more than 4000 chemicals when burned, and 2000 of them are poisonous, including tar, nicotine(which is so strong that it-s illegal even to use ot to kill bugs), carbon monoxide, ammonia, etc.
Scared? Now for some tips.
When you feel like you want to smoke, you should start to run, exercise, or have a little snack. This might help.
You can also start setting small goals. First, you can decide to smoke once an hour. After that, you can try not smoking for five hours. After that, you van decide not to smoke for a day, and so on. Reward yourself with an award.
stop putting the cigarettes in your mouth. Duh
The easiest way to quit smoking is to get a report from the health department nearest you about the various chemicals that are in cigarettes....... and then you would stop because you would not dream of taking such things into your body.

I doubt that you would have cancer after such a short period of time smoking .... so do not worry unnecessarily ..... I don-t know that people do know that they have cancer .... the best thing to do is to live a nice life and don-t do anything harmful to yourself.

Love

Why does my dad feel dumber after quitting smoking? -

Why does my dad feel dumber after quitting smoking? -

My father recently quit smoking, although reluctantly. He says, oddly, that his mind seems to be working more slowly now that he has quit. For example, he plays chess online and says that he is losing a much larger margin of his games than before. In addition, he says that he can’t think as fast at work either. Does anyone know anyone else who has had this problem, why it might be so, or how to help it?
Strong Withdrawal Symptoms

What he is experiencing is nothing but a strong desire to go back to smoking again. Like you said he quit reluctantly. So you can consider it as a withdrawal symptom which is making his brain deny the fact that he is actually benefiting from quitting.

The fact is that after you quit smoking, it takes only 12 hours for your carbon monoxide levels in your blood to drop This means now more oxygen is carried to your brain and muscles. More oxygen is healthy for the brain and instead of making it slow, it will make it work better than before.

However in the beginning, it takes a few days to get used to a healthy brain and the oxygen. You feel like you are somewhat intoxicated, but the fact is that you are coming back to normal.

A great way to get used to it is by getting involved in some physical activities like walking, jogging, or a yoga exercise (see the link below) that will help clean the lungs, respiratory system and digestive system.

Make sure your father knows that very soon he will start noticing a much higher concentration (that he hasn-t felt before), increase in memory, and a great focus.

Just for records, I have been a chain smoker for more than 17 years. I lived half my life smoking. When I quit, I felt the same, but now I don-t have a reason to go back to smoking. Tell him to hang in and visit the site below. This site has helped many people become aware of the evils of smoking and helped them stay smoke free.
probably withdrawl symptoms.

What can I use to help get phlem from my lungs, i have rceently quit smoking.? -

My phlem is comming out very thick and sometimes has threads of blood through it. I am beginning to be concerned, I have very recently had a chest x-ray and it was normal so I do not worry overmuch avout cancer, I just want to increase the reduction of this nasty phlem out of my body. Any help, herbal, over the counter, or just down home advice would be appreciated. thanks Deb M
ya ya, some de-congestant will help. but really, just start to jog, exercise in general will clear your lungs and help to keep you active so you don-t go back to smoking. you-ll notice the difference within a week.
One thing that is the best way: exercise. Go outside and go for a bike ride or a jog. You-ll cough up tons of crap. You could sit in a sauna which loosens the hardened stuff, avoid milk which contributes to mucus formation, and lastly an over the counter chemical drug called Mucinex I-ve heard helps. Congrats on quitting smoking! Keep it up.
Deb, you need to talk to your Doctor and tell him about your problems. He might want to to other tests, if not I am sure there is a prescription to dry up your phlem.
some cough medicines are good.
I also like dimetappe.it works fast.

a home remedy I use is.
.buy Termeric powder and honey.......mix 2 table spoon honey with half tea spoon termeric and swallow 1 tea spoon. ...within few minutes it will begin to clear.
take 2 to 4 times a day......my 4 years old nephew had asthma and his Mom gave her daily.
Hi,

Great post! Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I-ve ever done in my life, and I thought I wasn-t addicted!

Here-s what I tried before finding success: hypnosis, those fake cigaretts, the nicotine patch, and group therapy....none worked.

I finally tried this HERBAL patch I bought 6 months ago on the net. They claim a 97% success rate. Well, it worked! They had a sweet deal which was a free 10 day trial for only $3.95 including shipping (it-s regularly $53 for 10 days)!!

I don-t know if they still have that deal, but it-s worth a try.

Good Luck
Drinking water helps or close your bathroom door and turn the shower on hot and let it steam up to open your chest up.Your lungs are cleaning theirselves out and it will go away. CONGRATULATIONS on quitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I-d say -Go have that blood checked!- but since you already have no worrying about that unless it gets worse.

Here-s what we do for people in the hospital. It works great.
1. Postural drainage - lay with your body at an angle. Your head at the lowest point in the angle. Gravity helps.

2. Chest percussion - sounds cool. works great. lay on the couch and have someone cup there hand *as if cradling something in it) and hit your back. Not slap you (that would hurt) or bruise you but hard enough it makes a difference. If it makes you start to cough then you are on the right track.

3. Deep breathing and coughing exercises - Take a deep breath inhaling to the count of 3 through your nose. Exhale through your mouth with pursed lips for 7 seconds. This increases the oxygen exchange in your lungs and helps expand the alveoli. Take a few deep breaths. The deep breaths should trigger your cough reflex. Cough deeply.

4. Turn every two hours if possible. This keeps drainage and sputum from settling in the dependent areas of your lungs.

5. As for a vitamin - we don-t use those much in the hospital I work at. vitamin C is supposed to help the immune system. That could help you avoid a stint of pnemonia from all the sputum.

6. If you have to cough - cough! It is good to get that out of your lungs.

7. Drink alot of fluid. It will help to thin the secreations. Also avoid milk and dairy as they may thinken the sputum.
Mucinex is a good over the counter expectorant. Closing the bathroom door and turning the shower on very hot will also help...you don-t have to get in the shower, just breathe the steam. Congratulations on quitting! Good luck!
Your lungs are cleaning themselves. It will stop.
time ( see a doctor the blood is worrisome )
you have something wrong and this is not the best time to experiment with some remedy you got on the net SEE A DOCTOR !

If youve tried Champixquot; (quit smoking drug), how did you find it worked? -

I started taking Champix a week ago, and I think it-s working. What has your experience been?
i am on my third week of champix - havent had ciggie... but am very nausious and have loads of gas and am having really weird dreams! cigs actually make me feel sick!
however, on another chat forum, i was told that when you stop taking champix, it is like giving up all over again! I havent reached that stage yet! Enjoying not sounding like a 76 yr old in the morning.
first signs of it working are - round day 8 - you will have noticed your buts are bigger in the ash tray and you just dont feel like smoking as much as b4.
hope this helps, cheers, and good luck!
I have never taken it. However, my co worker has been taking it for 6 weeks now. She has lost weight and has not had a craving for a cigarette.

Does anyone know a good way to quit smoking? -

Does anyone know a good way to quit smoking? -

i-m 26 - its been 8 years since i started smoking.
yes----------------don-t start.
I smoke and have been trying to quit. I have used the nicatrol filters. But I always seem to start back. no willpower! More power to both of us
And to all you nonsmokers. You have no idea how hard it is to quit. It is no different than an overwieght person trying to lose wt. Or an addict trying to quit drugs. EVERYONE has a bad habit, why dont you try to stop yours
Welplex. I did it almost 5 months ago, and I haven-t started back. I also wasn-t cranky during the -withdrawal- phase, and I don-t miss it. I referred several people at work to get it done, and they-ve all done it with the same result. It-s pretty expensive, but it REALLY works. Always before when I would try to quit, I would want a cigarette so badly that I would actually believe I was going to die if I didn-t have one. I didn-t feel like that AT ALL with Welplex. In fact, I barely missed them at all, even the first week. I smoked for 12 years, at least a pack or pack and a half a day.
Cold Turkey..... Plus discover what tobacco smoke really tastes like. When you crave a cigarette by all means light up; but before you take that next puff, rinse your mouth out with a solution of baking soda and water. This neutralizes the tastes buds and gives you the true taste, and it is enough to boost your will power to quit the habit.
Hypnosis worked for me.
They say it takes 7 or more times, usually, to quit smoking. In my mom-s case, all she had to do was go to the doctor, they told her she had a lump on her throat or something, and she quit cold turkey. I hope it doesn-t take something like that to happen to you to get you to realize you are commiting a slow suicide. Try the nicctine gum, chew it as hard as possible. Use the patch as often as they tell you. Really commit, that-s all you can do because it-s your choice whether you want to live longer, for your family-s sake, and for your own sake. Good luck!! I wish you the best...
Most people who are successful (have quit for a year or longer) did it cold turkey. If the cravings get to you, then the patch, gum or lozenge are very helpful. Hang in there, most people have to try 3-4 times before they get over it.
No way is a good way except -cold turkey.- I quit 26 years ago after having smoked for 25 years. I was smoking 3-4 packs a day and could barely breathe. My doctor told me he could give me medication to mask the symptoms, but in 3 years I would be a weekly patient of his and in 5 years I would be dead. That did it!! I never touched another cigarette again. Just stop, handle the withdrawal, and you will be glad you did!!

Good luck!!
*throw away your cigarettes, ash trays, lighters, matches, etc.
*try your best....
*if you can′t.... buy some nicotine gum or patches
*don′t go to places where people smoke until you manage to control the need.... I know it′s not easy but you can do it......
Think of all the bad things about it and write them down on a paper in a paragraph. Have someone read it to you as you think about those things, and when you-re convinced not to smoke, buy a pack of that gum that helps you quit.
I had your problem. I tried most everything. What actually worked was, I mentally put a pack of ciggs in one hand and my -man hood- in the other and asked myself which weighed the most. In other words, man or mouse. Cold turkey...of course you only need to stop for one hour,,,,,,,,,,at a time.
participate in as many physical activites as you can... eat healthier... everytime you crave a cig, punish yourself by doing pushups... trust me, you-ll get tired doing pushups...
Have you tried gum and a punching bag. When you have a craving chew gum. If the craving is driving you crazy punch the bag.
Do you have children? This got my dad to stop smoking. He was told that if he continued smoking he would continue to risk his kids to be disfigured, with mental problems, and with continuous health problems. He quit on the spot. He still feels that he quit too late because I have sensitive lungs.
Yes, meet someone with lung cancer or emphasema

Quit smoking and yellow mucus? -

Quit smoking and yellow mucus? -

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago since something in my life occurred to me and made me stop. Now, I am coughing up all this yellow/clear mucus. I am not sure if that is the tar built up in my lungs since I quit smoking for 5 years or if it is something else.
These are the cilia reforming. These hairlike structures are what keep substances in the air, germs, and other unwanted substances out of your lungs. Smoking fries the cilia, paralyzing them. That-s why smokers cough when they wake up in the morning. The cilia has grown back, thus you cough gunk up. This will go away after awhile once you body is used to it.
Yes, smoking can cause yellow mucus, and clear mucus, and if you stop then it-s just your lung clearing themselves out. This could also be just acid/ acid reflux, which is caused by smoking/ nicotine as well. Just drink allot of water.
Expect this to happen for the next year, or two. This is your lungs adapting to being smoke-free. Even two years after quitting- I still blow an occasional clear loogie.....but not nearly as often as before! Welcome to the world of ex-smokers!
well i don-t know about the tar but your body needs to make up for the nicotine and creates this mucus, it-s ok it-s normal give it like a month or so though. you also could just be sick. good luck
It is normal after quitting .
It is your body clearing out .
Hey

Thats a good sign, its your lungs rejecting all the muck
Just spit it all out.. good luck

Mia
ur coughin out all those sht u-ve been suckin on.. ;]

that-s a good thing..i think..idk

If I smoke a cigar or a clove during the time I am trying to quit smoking cigs, will that scre me up? -

most definitly!!!! i gave up smoking 2years 3months and 12 days ago i keep track of it to remind me how well im doing. it was hard at first considering my partner isa and still is an 8 a day smoker (he goes outside and i dont follow). i quit cold turkey, as i made it a mind over matter thing. i kept 5 cigarettes in a drawer that were mine and mine alone, so that if i had a craving i knew i had one handy (i still have 5 in the drawer) also if you assosciate alcohol with smoking cut your intake as it makes the craving unbareably strong. good luck with the quitting, hope i helped!
Yes. Cigars not only have a higher tar concentration than cigarettes, they also have more nicotine. Cloves also are high in nicotine and are more detrimental to your health than cigarettes. Get some nicotine gum or the patch to help you out.
Thats not quitting thats cutting down
Yeh, it will (just my own experience tho - not a medical one)

The strength of addiction to cigarettes is the psychological addiction. The action of smoking is what I missed most - filling that void with any smoking related activity really defeats the purpose, because you are still feeding that facet of the addiction.

Best of luck with your quest to quit - it really is tough - I applaud anyone who achieves their goal.
Psychologically no.. It will help. But physically its bad because your getting a healthy dose of nicotine even if you don-t inhale. I started smoking a pipe a long time ago. The flavor was so good that cigarettes tasted bad to me, so I quit smoking cigs. But I got tired of the pipe lifestyle and quit that too. So maybe the flavor will cure your cig urge, but you-re really just replacing the mental urge to smoke into another medium. Try the patch. It really helps.
are you still smoking?

then yes it will screw you up.
yes i tried the same things and all those made it was worse i wanted the real thing. Your best bet is to try gum but dont do the cigar.
if you have the urge to smoke try some hoch and have fun with it
yes it will it is tobacco you got to quit cold turkey

Does hypnotizing work for quitting smoking? -

I am seriously thinking about trying it. I have tried to quit before with no luck. For me the other stop - smoking aids will not work because it is more about my mental addiction than physical. Just wondering if anyone else has ever tried this?
Yes, hypnosis works to help you quit smoking. You have to have a true personal desire to quit though. I-m sure you do. You need to find a good hypnotist though. I found this site for you http://www.appliedhypnosis.org/hypnotists/index.html I would consider each of these hypnotists good.

I didn-t get around to trying hypnosis though before I found these electric cigarettes. Insane? I know it sounds that way, but it-s what worked for me. I also had a severe mental addiction to cigarettes. Anyways, this will let you see what I-m trying to explain. http://bit.ly/13XSOP They don-t cause cancer, are so much less expensive, and they don-t stink.
Simple answer,
Yes it does.
I did a course on hypnotherapy about 30 years ago, and had quite a few volunteer -guinea pigs-, every single person who came to me to quit smoking did so, and never started again.
My only concern for you is, make sure that you get a reliable, ethical hypnotist, try to get a referral from your doctor.
dude. It works but seriously it doesn-t work on everyone. Although you can go ahead and try, another good idea would to be to stop cold turkey. I know it sounds like impossible, but it really isn-t. My mom would smoke like a pack a day, and when she learned we had a fatal lung disease, she stop cold turkey because I told her she was killing us. AHHH the power of will power. Good luck. I know it-s a very tough habit to quit.

Does hypnosis really help you to quit smoking? -

Only a minority of people can be put into a truly hypnotic trance. For most of us, it is variable how far we can or will go into one. Perhaps it-s a defense mechanism thing - at least unconsciously, we don-t like to loose our -sense- of control. For this reason, many people opting for hypnosis as a way to quit the dreaded weed will find it won-t really work. Also, you would have to take into account other issues and their interplay on the addiction. For example, there will always be things that we eat or drink that will trigger the desire to light up. Or it might be a certain behavior, like waiting for the bus and suddenly the addiction centre of our brain is lit up like a christmas tree or like fireworks night.There-s also peer group pressure for some, especially for younger woman, thanks to the really evil publicity campaigns by cigarette companies aimed at this demographic group. Finally, addictiveness as one example of our individual differences has to be also taken into account. We-re all wired differently on that big enigma. So the answer has to be probably -no-, but it-s still worth giving it a blast if you are serious about kicking the habit.
Didn-t work for my mother-in-law.
Maybe. I gave up after 12 years 1 pack a day by reading Allan Car-s -The easy way to quit smoking-. I think anyone that really wants to give up can actually find it easy to do once they realise that we are fooled into thinking that cigarettes are more addictive than they actually are. Once a small cigarette craving sets of a smokers mind, It is almost imposable for them to stop thinking about having a cigarette until they have one, but it is their mind that is doing this not their nicotine addiction. The cravings only last about 30 seconds and aren-t even very strong. Once a smoker realises this it is easy to quit if they really want to.
Hypnosis could work seeing as most of the addiction is in peoples mind. All you would need to do is deprogram people that it is to hard to give up.
me and my BF used -Commit Lozenges- and it really works!
It didn-t work for me either. I went with my son, he started again the same day. I lasted about 3 weeks. I think you have to really be ready and really want it. It plants the idea in your mind or reinforces it. But if your not ready, really, really ready don-t think it will work. They also sold vitamins? Or something that were supposed to help with withdrawal and help flush your system of the cravings faster. They were like $300.00, I didn-t get those. They were not in my budget. Maybe they would have helped???? I don-t know. But I also lived with 2 smokers and have friends that smoke so the temptation was always in my face so to speak. Well any way good luck to you. I need a cigarette! LOL
My sister had hypnosis to quit smoking, and it didn-t work.

From what I have observed, it takes a strong will, good support, and to have as much information as possible to make the choice as to which method (ie: nicotine patch, chewing gum, reducing, cold turkey) would work for you.

My father-in-law quit when he had to stay in hospital for some time due to renal failure.

Hope that helps!
It didn-t work for me.

i-ve been smoking 10 a day for about 3 years. if i quit now and never smoke another cigarette again, in years to come will my lungs be as healthy as a non smokers?
Yes, it wouldn-t take long to get back to clear lungs. Your sense of taste will be the first thing to come back though and you-ll be amazed at how much you-ve been missing. Give it a shot! Good luck
If you are under 40 years of age, your lungs will be as good as new in about 2 months.
Please do quit! You-ll never regret it!
10 a day aint that bad it would not take that long to be clear
Odds seem pretty good that after several months you won-t have a much higher risk of health problems than lifelong non-smokers. As the doc mentioned already, you-ll get some of your senses back within just hours/days of quitting. Your skin will also improve, as smoking introduces CO into your system, which starves organs of oxygen.

Good luck in quitting, it will be worth it.
It-d probably take about 20 years for you lungs to completely repair and be as good as they were before you started.

I-d highly recommend you do everything in your power to stop. It-s a highly addictive disease to smoke, and something that will hurt you in the long run. It-s one of the top killers in the united states.
yes,i would say 10 years--[and you,ll be as good as new,i smoked 20 a day for over 30 years.i gave up a year and 3 months ago, stopping smoking is the most healthiest thing you could ever do,mind you it wasn-t easy, but my advice is put the money you would have spent on cigs in a jar and save it up,and no matter what you do ,don-t give in don-t even have a sly one,cos all that does is you wanting another and another,so don-t have any at all,the very best of luck you can do it.

How can I quit smoking pot? -

How can I quit smoking pot? -

Im 17 - have been trying out drugs for about 3 months now, i have been smoking weed ALOT, i had never tried it though prior to these three months, also OXY COTTON. what is tha exactly???. its an EVERY WEEKEND THING, sometimes even during the week. i know alot of people say, oh just the weekends tahts fine. well for me its not because i went from never smoking to smoking every friday/saturday night ever since my BF of 3 years broke up with me. My friends infulence me to smoke becuase I am around them when they do it. I know everyone will just say to get new friends, but they ARE my friends and i LOVE them despite their flaws. I am not going to just DROP my friends because of their bad habits, i should be a strong enuf preson myself to be able to hangout with them even if they are smoking and personally still not smoke. What can I do to stay with my friends and not HAVE to smoke every weekend? How can I quit? Or say no when offered weed?
Birds of a feather flock together.
Have you ever heard of gateway habits?
First comes the booze and cigarettes.
Then comes the weed and cocaine.
Once you have those habits, then comes the bad school record, bad work record, and eventually, the criminal record.
After those drugs, your loser boyfriend will offer you the harder stuff, heroin, extacy, LSD.
Of course, you-ll say, -I-ll never do that stuff.-
Your buds, probably a loser guy, will get you drunk, then you-ll get you high. When you-re high and drunk, you-ll try anything.

Then it-s game over.
You really need help you shouldn-t be smoking that its bad for you. Try going to a counselor or therapy they may be able to help you but seriously Don-t smoke that.
wow girlfriend you really got a lot of good advice from a lot of good people , I couldn-t of said it any better please ,please listen Good luck and God Bless
Ahh you-re like me, but I haven-t smoked anything for a while now. You seriously just have to say -er, not up for it this time, it-s making me feel like a dumbass, so I-m gon stop.- And if they refuse to take that....well, not to be mean, but they-re not good friends, and you need to give them a good slap in the face. A few of my friends take drugs and so on, but whenever one of us decides to stop, we all support them 100%.
I stopped because I realised that after 3 years of smoking it almost every day I lost 14 IQ points somewhere along the line, and it scared the hell out of me. I couldn-t think properly, I couldn-t work properly, I got moody and sick.
Get a backbone and do what YOU want, not what everyone else wants. You-re no. 1! Remember that.
You smoke pot every friday/saturday night ? look kiddo you wouldn,t know the meaning of addiction. And where do you get the oxy,s from they are a prescription pain killer ? When you take drugs everyday all day + night and cannot hold a job because of it,you are addicted. So no addiction kiddo just experimenting,so if you want to stop just STOP.
You asked for help, and then presented a defense for every kind of advice we could give you. If you hang with users you will use. Oxycontin is a very dangerous prescription drug. It is highly addictive. Is is being called the -new heroin-. The way you quit using drugs is quit hanging with the people who use them. Period. There is no easy way. And, by the way, friends are people who have your best interest at heart.
if you sincerely want the addiction gone...as God to remove it....(but you truely wnat to have to stop)...God knows what is in your heart....I have been clean and sober now for 16 years...and that is what worked for me...society is infected with drug and alcohol abuse...sometimes I felt as if I were the only one clean at times....but addiction is a struggle...think about the future problems--both legal and health-wise...and want to make a better choice...get thte assistance from a local drug and alcohol program that requires testing at least twice a week and classes to complete...they are available at no cost to you through the State Department of Health. Check it out.
idk cuz i smoke everyday so i dont think i can help ya sorry u should stick with it.
Hello There,
There is a product out there that can help you with that problem, it is free to try, you-ll find the link at the bottom of this page.

My wife smoked for over 10 years and when she found out that she was preagnant with our now newborn 3 months old daughter, she had promised me that if I found a good solution for quitting, she will try her best to kick the habit.

Now it is up to you, but since my wife has quit, I was so happy about her success, so much so that I had built a small review site of the product to also help other people quit, you can check it out at;
http://time2quitnow.com
if you want to find out more.
Thanks for reading my short story, I hope it helps, good luck and stay healthy.

Trying to quit smoking - steps to achieve this goal? -

What specific and measureable steps will help you to achieve this goal? what dimensions of health will be affected by trying to quit smoking?
My dad used to smoke, but he stopped. Here are some ideas/steps:

1. To get rid of smoking you can always try the replacements to it, patches or nicotine gum. Nicotine gum is more safer. Buy the Target brand. It is prooved test-safe.

2. Get rid of EVERYTHING smoke-related. Such as lighters, smoke boxes, cigarettes. And throw them out. It is a REALLY hard step. But it-s better doing this then getting cancer soon...

That-s all I got, Hope I have helped! :-)
You have to take it one step at a time because it is mental Im not going to copy and paste a paragraph to you About it from another article im going to tell you its hard But if you really want to achieve you will do it first of all try 1 day With out doing it For every time U wish to have Eat a candy. You can also try going to a doctor they can really give you a helping hand.Or go to a gym. There are many ways its hard but you need dedication
hang out with NON SMOKING friends people. go to the gym. dont eat until you get full. Keep BRUSHING your teeth. chew gum.
stop buying cigarettes.

by cigars, theyre less addictive i heard...

How do I quit smoking?? -

I-ve tried so many times!! I tried cutting back and cut back every day from one cigarette a day.

That didn-t work out so well....UGHHHH!!! I really wanna stop but I don-t have the will power!

Any ideas/ advice / suggestions?

ps. I-ve tried the gum - patches.....it didn-t help :(
An interesting thing I heard once from a former smoker...
He said he didn-t have the power to quit until he admitted that he really liked smoking.
He wanted to quit because he knew it was bad for his health, it was unattractive, it was bad for his witness as a pastor etc... etc. These were all the head knowlegable things he rationalized for quitting. However, he knew insid he really liked smoking. He liked the way it tasted, he liked the lighting and puffing on a cigarette, the whole smoking experience was enjoyable for him.
Then he admitted that this pseudo struggle he put up to quit wasn-t honest in its beginning, and therefore his efforts to quit were compromised . Now in his case, being a pastor, he prayed and admitted to God that he loved to smoke; and that if he had a choice, he-d do it all day everyday except for the reasons he knew he shouldn-t smoke.
I don-t know if you-re a Christian or not, but I think a similar approach may help.
If you still like the smoking experience (and I-m not saying you do, or don-t) maybe the first step to quitting would be to be honest about why you want to quit. One thing I-ve learned is that many habits are pleasureable to us even if they are harmful.
If you look beyond the usual reasons smokers feel they need to quit ( cancer, bad breath , stained teeth or whatever) and get to the truth of how you feel about this habit ( I like it!I love it! I want some more of it) , maybe it-ll make it easier to determine when you are going to quit on your own and not out of some possible guilt born out of media/ social peer pressure. You-ll be doing it for yourself and not vicariously for some one else.
This is just a thought I had from someone else-s shared experience.
Love hard and be free
I totally empathize with you. I am also addicted to cigarettes. 2 years ago I quit for nine months after using the nicotine patches, but then started again when I bummed one off a guy while fishing. I just quit again and am using the patch. It does not completely remove your cravings but as i said I quit for 9 months (the longest ever for me) by using the patch. The only time I have been able to last more than a few hours was with the patch, and as embarrassing as it sounds I have been smoking since age 11.
Do you really want to quit? It-s really about how much you want it.....have you considered Chantix? It is supposed to work well, and I-ve many friends who have used it and have stopped......Best advice I can give you is you have to really want to quit more than you want to smoke...it-s an addiction and not easy to quit.

Write down all the things you can buy if you quit.....all the good stuff....it-s not about will power either....it-s an addiction.....

Good luck and there are lots of on line sites available.....Quitnet.com is neat as it lets you see how many cigs you-ve not smoken, how much money you-ve saved and how much life you gained by not smoking....

Good luck...
I feel your pain I quit for 6 months one time. The only thing that helped was substituting exercise. I could never really run without getting out of breath. So when I quit it made it easier to substitute exercise because you get the endorphins and you can breath better. This is the only thing that worked for me. Even just a walk takes your mind off the craving. Just try to keep your mind occupied and good luck!
Don-t cut back.Just stop. Find two healthy things to replace smoking. Exercixing and reading etc. Find two strongs friends to call when the craving is there. Make it two weeks and you will be smoke free.
start using skoal and copenhagen
KEEP BUSY WITH URSELF EVERYTIME U WANT ONE JUST DO LIKE 80 SIT UPS
To stop smoking, I would start by... stopping smoking. Sure, you can-t use marijuana, but you can still use all sorts of other drugs, such as cocaine and heroin.

Im thinking of trying hypnosis to quit smoking. Has anyone tried it? -

I-ve tried the patch, the gum, Zyban. I never find it hard to quit, but I always, always find it hard to stay quit.
I-d like to try something different, and I-ve heard that hypnosis can be good for people like me, who have trouble with maintaining nonsmoker status, for more long term help. Any thoughts?
Hypnosis let me quit smoking, give it a try. I left my cigarettes with the hypnotist, as he suggested. He gave me a word to think of when I felt the urge to smoke. I wrote the word down and posted it around my house and even on my PC at work. I was able to stop smoking that same day .
I guess I gave to much info ... Oh well short and simple seems to work ...

my boyfriends mom tried it, and she said it made her want to smoke even more...lol, I guess it really does depend on the person

In addition:
My dad quit smoking about five years and ago, he used a combination of the nicotrol nasal spray and Zyban. It-s really expensive, but it works. He had been smoking since he was 15, he was 35 when he quit.
In 1993 I went to a group hypnosis with my son-in-law. I had no intentions of quitting, he wanted to quit and needed someone to go with him. I wound up quitting that very night and he didn-t.
I-m still smoke free!!
I am a Hypnotist and can tell you I have helped many people quit. However, a few words of caution.

Try to stay away from Group sessions, they are alot less successful then one on one sessions.

Second stay away from someone who wants to sell you a 6 (or more) session program. They are taking you for a ride.

Stay away from -guarantees- of success or money back. These are usually -hypnosis- factories based solely on getting in as many people in as possible on the hopes of a money back guarantee.

Make sure at the end of your sessions the hypnotist is going to give you a CD to help you through the -ruff- times if you have any. You don-t want to have to run back to him or her every time you hit a bump in the road.

And last, make sure you want to quit for the right reasons or it won-t work. You have to want to quit for yourself. Not because the Doctor told you you had to, or your wife/husband said you had to. The Hypnotist should ask you why you want to quit. If they don-t, look for another one. The reason they are asking is to guage if the hypnosis will work for you. A good hypnotist will actually turn you away if your motivation is not in the right place.

Good luck !
biend an x-smoker myself, i quit -cold turkey- about 5 years ago, but i had tried serveral times before. i guess i just made up my mind and did it. i had smoked for 10 years and was up to a carton a week.
hypnosis depends on people receives it. not all people can accepts that treatment. try like this, run far away if you spot some cigar,
Well, first of all why did you even want to smoke when you already know what smoking does to your body?

And yes, hypnosis will help but, it usually depends on smokers because your level of smoking is probably different from other smokers, so if I were you I-ll give hypnosis a shot and if it doesn-t work ask your doctor what-s best for you.

But, good luck about quitting of smoking. =D

my boyfriend and i are quiting smoking, prob is that he keeps cheating lol. what should do ? take them ? smoke a much wanted cigg myself or what u think, nothing? just let him get to quiting agian?
the power (whoo.. -the power-) to change comes from deep inside. sounds like your boyfriend doesn-t have the 100% willpower he needs to quit something that has been habit-forming. your intentions to quit smoking are great, and i know they are tough to quit, but the only way out of this habit is to quit it cold turkey.

sometimes people give excuses that they are trying to -wean off- smoking -- let-s say they smoke a pack a day, they think they are doing good when they say -oh, i only smoke half a pack nowadays- -- and sometimes people ask me, -is there a -safe number- of cigarettes you can smoke a day?- -- there is NO safe number of cigs you can smoke, it-s either you smoke it or you quit it.

however, if you are trying to quit smoking while your boyfriend is still smoking, there is a big chance you might be tempted to smoke again when you see him smoking. i cannot change your boyfriend (or anybody else who insists they don-t want to quit) but you need to speak to him about it whether or not he still wants to quit it, and if he doesn-t want to quit it -- the best support he can give you is not to smoke around you, or ask his friends to put out their cigs when you are around. it-s like a give and take relationship, you respect him enough that he can decide on his own, and in return he should respect your decisions to quit smoking and be supportive. of course im not saying you should be supportive of his smoking habits, it-s just that you cannot force people to change for the better -- they have to work on their own. my father is a drug dependent, and up to now, i am still working my best in counseling him to go to a rehab. but like what i said, change has to come from within.
I-ve just given up for two weeks....It-s hell, and a private place that no-one wants to be in. Just keep busy, don-t think about it and realise that your doing the best thing for yourself.
Because no-one else is going to do it for you.
If it takes more than 1 try, don-t worry - most people take more than once. In the meantime, make him smoke outside.

I just recently quit a 2 pack a day habit. It was easier than I thought, but only because i used every tool available. This is definitely a shotgun approach. Even with these, I went thru a period of several hours the first day where I was in excruciating pain (simultaneous migraine, all muscles tightened in neck and back to where I could barely move, ear aches, irate emotions, and cravings) (it only ended when I fell asleep in exhaustion)

1. I was by myself. It is a lot easier if you aren-t around others - you can go nuts if you want. Try to be by yourself for at least the 1st 3 days.
2. Have a lot to do. I chose my time beccause I had just unloaded the truck from moving - lots of little decisions and movement as I unpacked everything. The closes equivalent I can think of is to go thru and sort/organize every drawer and box in the house, attic, basement, and garage.
3. Use Zyban. It really helps.
4. Use th patches - provides a steady intake of nicotine.
5. When you have a craving, also use the gum. Even after you quit, have the gum nearby (in drawers in bedroom and living room, on garage bench, in glove compartments, in inside jacket pockets) - when you get a nasty craving and are about to go for a smoke, pull out the gum instead.
6. Early on, use the oral spray - it is strong! You can only use it a few times a day, but it really knocks out the worse of the cravings fast!
7. Before you quit for good, experiment for a few hours with each of the above individually and in groups, and cold turkey for a reference. This is to give you some idea what to expect and how effective each of the above will be individually and in groups. You may also find other things that help - I found nasal spray and cherry menthol coughdrops helped. If you can pick up on some relaxation techniques, they help too.
8. Isolate yourself from stress (for at least the 1st 2 days)- no trips anywhere, no work, no bills, etc.
9. Sleep as much as you can. Drink as many non-alcoholic and non-caffein liquids as you can.

Most of all, be ready to acept something less than quitting nicotine completely this 1st stage. If you quit cigarettes but continue using the patch or the gum, you have made a good trade physically and financially. You can always quit the aids later.
Have a backbone and make a decision yourself or you will never quit... you can-t quit for someone else... not really a tough concept to grasp you know.
A husband and wife I know, she smoked, he dipped, they decided to quit. Everything went good for a bit over 6 months.

They were going to leave on a vacation, the wife stared thinking, this is not going to work, we will be together 24 hours a day for 2 whole weeks. I-m going to go crazy if I can-t slipped around and smoke, there is no way I can go 2 weeks without smoking.

So just before they were going to leave, she tells her husband, -I going to the store and get some cigarettes, what kind of chewing tobacco do you want me to get you.-

He looked at her puzzled for a few moments, them said, -I already have 2 cartons of my favorite tobacco, you mean you didn-t quite either?-
My husband and I quit at the same time, or at least i thought we did. Only to find out that he was still smoking. I quit, I wanted it for myself, not for a partner thing. The week after I quit I was told that I had cancer. That made the quitting a reality...quit and let it go.
My husband quit a year later...was much harder for him than for me. He says even to this day he could pick up the habit again and be okay with it. I would not nor could I ever.
Don-t nag, just let it run it-s course, when he finds out you don-t want to be around him because he stinks, he will start thinking that it-s time. Don-t let him smoke in the house...ever...or the car...tell him that is your space and you chose to quit.
Quitting is a life choice, not a easy one, but a really good choice-keep up the good work, you will feel so much better and breathe and you will wonder how you ever did that nasty habit....
giving up is the most important thing you will ever do. It will save your life. If he doesnt have the will power..thats his problem, dont endanger yourself.
go out side flarwes in ashtra dony smoke in side
Talk about it, ask him why he is cheating. men have less willpower HELP HIM !
take care of yourself, you can not force any one to quit. After the cravings have calmed a bit, tell him you are wondering what it would be like to date a non smoker.

I need to quit smoking because I am pregnant. my problems with quitting are I get real angry, I get tired ? -

all the time and I get light headed can someone please offer me some advice? I already know all the bad smoking does.
Every day you smoke the baby is not getting as much oxygen via your blood stream as he/she should. So NOT quitting is potentially hurting the baby.

Being tired goes with being pregnant for a lot of women, so I-m not sure what you are feeling is the fault of trying to quit. If it IS the lack of nicotine, those sensations will pass in about 1-2 weeks, as will the anger and light-headedness. Those are all signs of nicotine withdrawal... and the body flushes out nicotine fairly quickly... as I said 1-2 weeks. You can speed up the process by drinking lots of water, fruit juices, milk, and other non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic liquids.
Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Most companies who sell quit smoking aids admit to this on their websites. They say to use their products in conjunction with a psychological support program. Why? Because without one the chances of quitting are greatly reduced. In reality the psychological program does most of the work. The quit smoking aids are more of a helping hand and are often unnecessary.

It is key to stay positive, don-t focus on the cravings. Keep the reasons why you quit in the first place (your baby) circling through your head. This will keep your spirit and motivation high. Cravings will ease as a result.

Good luck to you, all the best with your pregnancy
This is something you really need to discuss with your doctor. Quitting effects the baby as well, and you will not be able to use most quit smoking aides.

Also, call your local cancer agencies and ask them to send you booklets about quitting while pregnant. And go to your local bookstore to buy Allen Carr-s book on quitting smoking. If you read it, it will help. It may seem goofy in some parts, but if you take the actual point of it, it will help.

Also know that cravings only last 2 minutes. So sip on some water when you have one, or walk around the block.

Its free and I think you will benefit from it.
Withdraw can be almost unbearable for a lot of people trying to quit smoking. This is why there are so many smoking cessation aids on the market. However, since you-re pregnant these aids are not available to you. You will have to think of the life of your unborn child and go cold turkey. Good luck to you.
Try replacing it with a food. You need to probably up your food intake to help curve your cravings. You need to anyways since your pregnant. Find a favorite snack that you just LOVE and when you get the urge just start snacking.

You really don-t break bad habits, you just replace them with a new bad habit so be careful.
I-m pregnant and I quit smoking the day i found out!! Do it for you-re baby... The tiredness and getting light headed is all part of being pregnant so don-t let that be you-re excuse for not quiting. Just do it for you-re self and most of all for you-re unborn child!!!!
just do it. The headaches are withdrawals from the nicotine. If you quit for the entire pregnancy don-t start smoking again.
you get like that cos your body is craving the nicotine. Its the nicotine fit.
I would suggest you replace it with a hobby or your favorite snack. :D

congrats on the baby!
get a little fresh air take walks, that wil lhelp open up the lungs and get your lungs feeling better..in turn your body will promote energy and you wont think about smoking so much
Kids make you angry and tired too. Take some responsibility.
Talk to your doctor maybe he/she can help u.

Maybe trying eating fruits in place of smokes.

Hello!
All right, when a person smokes, the smoke inhaled causes the tiny hairs in your respiratory tract to stop pushing up phlegm and mucus. All this mucus stays in your lungs along with the smoke particles. It also damages your heart. So when a person quits smoking, the tiny hairs, cilia, begin to work again and the person, at least after the first week or two begin to cough up all of the mucus and residue that have been in their lungs. Since there is less mucus, you are able to breathe better and if you breathe better you-re able to do more without getting winded. Your lungs begin to heal and your heart gets better too...kind of
When you quit smoking your blood vessels dilate, allowing more blood to flow to your extremities and drop off much needed oxygen. In addition, more oxygen is available to your blood because of increased lung capacity.
If you-re having difficulty walking, smoking or not, perhaps your problem lies elsewhere. I-d definitely say you should stop shooting H, too. I know it-s asking a lot, but consider it.
Your slow anerobic muscles (muscles that are used for longer term slower bursts of energy) need oxygen to produce glucose. When ur smoking your getting less oxygen, less glucose, less energy.
because you can breathe.
Why does it become easier to walk when youve quit smoking cigarettes? ? -

Are you talking about the withdrawal symptoms or the physiological changes that occur.

The good news is this: Stop smoking NOW and your body immediately begins to detoxify and repair itself. The longer you go without a cigarette the better you and your body will feel. I was once a smoker and I know from experience that quitting is the single most difficult thing you will ever do. So, if you are seriously contemplating it, GOOD FOR YOU!!

Withdrawal is a whole different story with weight gain, irritability, etc. Some people go -cold turkey- and do fine, others need help from an M.D. Choose whatever is best for you. :) Good Luck!!
I quit smoking once. Everything else start to stink.
I quit smoking 45 days ago and feel much better. I have gained about 10 pounds but I now feel a lot more energy so I should lose that quickly. I have noticed I wheeze a lot, I assume that is my lungs repairing themselves. I notice I smell things more and coffee now stinks where before it smelled really good. Food tastes so much better and my 2 daughters have stopped having coughs all the time. They tell me I don-t stink any more from smoke. I-ve noticed my teeth look better and my skin looks younger and more elastic already! I am excited about that. The little wrinkles around my mouth have gotten smaller.
I tried to be as honest and accurate as I could. I am 39 and smoked 2 packs of marlborro 100-s a day for about 23 years.
* In 20 minutes your blood pressure will drop back down to normal.
* In 8 hours the carbon monoxide (a toxic gas) levels in your blood stream will drop by half, and oxygen levels will return to normal.
* In 48 hours your chance of having a heart attack will have decreased. All nicotine will have left your body. Your sense of taste and smell will return to a normal level.
* In 72 hours your bronchial tubes will relax, and your energy levels will increase.
* In 2 weeks your circulation will increase, and it will continue to improve for the next 10 weeks.
* In three to nine months coughs, wheezing and breathing problems will dissipate as your lung capacity improves by 10%.
* In 1 year your risk of having a heart attack will have dropped by half.
* In 5 years your risk of having a stroke returns to that of a non-smoker.
* In 10 years your risk of lung cancer will have returned to that of a non-smoker.
* In 15 years your risk of heart attack will have returned to that of a non-smoker.
It gets very unhappy with you for a while but then it gets happier than it-s ever been.

Quitting sucks!

I stopped smoking cannabis a week ago after doing it for about 3 months (i know it doesn-t sound long) and ever since then, i still feel a tiny bit stoned all the time and sometimes i feel like i-m in a dream world.....

Will this feeling pass after a month or so? Or will i be stuck with it for life, i-m worried, HELP
I thought you felt like that smoking cannabis
It will pass in time; cannabis is like any other substance - if you withdraw it suddenly after a period of regular use, you will notice a difference.

Three months of use is not, IMO, long enugh to trigger a serious problem, though it does sound like cannabis probably isn-t for you, so good for you for being sensible enough to quit. Too many people just press on, and wind up making themselves ill, which does nothing to help the decrim campaign..
everyone is so stupid, they act like mary j is so bad, your body is flushing out toxins and you might have slight witdrawals, other than that u will be fine,as for me 420 4 life
First let me congratulate you on your decision to stop putting any kind of drug into your body, as you must know, any drug will take a while to completely leave your system,so just give it time, please don`t be tempted to restart, you do not know if you would be one of these people that has an addictive nature and be likely to progress to other stronger drugs, all of these really sad people that have their lives ruined by drugs also started by using the lesser ones. Sermon over, sorry.
Chris.
it-ll die down the longer you go clean. just withdrawral symptoms and such, whch continue for a while because your brain has been used to the influx of cannabis. should go quite soon. just dont go back to doing it.
I-m not sure, but grats on quitting! It-s an addictive drug when you-re depressed, I know, and it-s hard not to turn to it or alcohol to numb the senses. I-ve never heard of any lingering effects of marijuana - could you have gotten a bad batch laced with something else??
It will pass, I have been in the same boat too. It was very strange and I felt dazed for a while.
