What is the first thing to do to quit smoking? -

Yes, you have to want to quit like everyone says. Use the nicoteine patch...it helps a lot. Get gum, peanuts, etc. Get something to keep your hands busy...a small cushy ball to squeeze. Go see the ventillator patients unit at your local hospital. Then you-ll see reasons why you should quit ASAP.
#1 You need to have a desire to quit

w/o this factor it-s usless to try BTDT about 10 times
Stop buying them.
will power, make yourself quit.
You Got To Want To Quit.
A support group.
Somebody to help and encourage you to stop.

All that other stuff is useless unless you have somebody that wants you to quit.
Then, you won-t need any of that other stuff.
The first thing you have to do is have a STRONG desire to quit. If you don-t, no program will work. Then decide which of the many programs out there sounds like it might work for you. If you fail the first time, don-t give up. Try again, maybe in a different way the second time. For the first month, do your best to stay away from smoking triggers like clubs. I will be celebrating one year smoke free on February 28th. I went for three private sessions of hypnosis and it worked. Good Luck.
i quit last week
get some candies, nuts, something to drink that you like(a lot)
get yourself busy
dont buy cigs
get fresh air
think negative about smoking
You have to really want to.
First, you got to put your mind to it, and then you need to try and do the smoke patch or the nicotine chews that make you stop smoking.
Mentally prepare yourself. Give yourself a few weeks with a date in mind when you are going to quit. Smoke all you want until then but when your date gets here, you stop. Most importantly, throw all your cigarettes away so they are not there to temp you.

Good luck with quitting. You don-t realize how bad you feel when you smoke until you quit.
