Is anyone else trying to quit smoking? -
Ok, so I am 5 days cigarette free right now, and I have to admit....i am being soooo grouchy! Every little thing is tickin me off, and I soooo badly want to go buy a pack right now. Is anyone else trying to quit smoking? If so, do you have any good tips to help me get over this hurdle? Thanks.
You-re almost over the worst part...don-t give in! Try sucking on an ice cube or a piece of peppermint. Also, try to stay active. Being idle always made me smoke more.
I smoked for about 25 years and I quit smoking about 5 years ago and all I can tell you is to keep thinking of how terrible the smoke smells in your hair and how sick they can make you. also if you don-t quit now it will be much harder down the road. oh and remember you can quit smoking but you can-t quit cancer
I quit smoking(cold turkey) the moment I found out I was pregnant back in Feb of 08. I had the hardest time trying to get the thought of cigarettes out of my head, but it was worth it! You should try to pick up a new habit. I had a friend that started chew gum and another that also started jogging. It worked for both of them, but the craving never really goes away. It-s always a little nagging thought at the back of my mind! Anyway, good luck.
Oh my god. Ive been trying to quit for WEEKS now. I HAVE to quit for medical reasons and STILL I don-t get scared enough to just quit. I went a whole month two months ago without a smoke then gave in like a wuss. Really, they say it takes many many many times of trying to actually quit...typically. I can tell you all the usual tricks, chew gum, get the patch, try the nicotine gum, have a person you call like a smoking anonymous sponsor, tell everyone you know you-re quitting so if any of them catch you you feel dumb...I think theres even a 1800 number to call and freak out on people when your flipping a nutty. Good luck, for sure. Where IS that patch of mine anyways?....
relax take it slow, usually if you-re ever craving, just take a glass of water and you-ll be over it in about 5 minutes.
Trust me, it-s been 2 years, and I have had huge cravings, Just do something else for a while, and they-ll go away.
I am currenlty watching my mom go through the same process as you. She has become ten times more grouchy without her cigarette-s. To help her craving, she chews gun (normal or the nicorette stuff) there is also pacthes available at your local drug store.
I know someone who took up jogging. Another person took up a boxing club. Someone else tried karate.... Try something physical!
GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!
