I quit smoking 6 months ago but I still get nicotine stains in my underwear? -

This is a very interesting question. I quit 6 years and still seem to have the same problem. I think the nicotine must build up in your lower intestine and when you fart, voila!! Someone suggested I pay more attention to wiping myself. Have you ever heard of anything so foolish.
Thanks for helping me wake up laughing!!!
Hysterical! I Like dry humor, but love yours!
Now, r v supposed to laugh or puke ???
nice one... we laughed a long while reading this.

I agree with the other reply... its possibly not nicotine.
do the -smell check- to confirm!

:-D
How about get some new undies.
Underwear!!! do you smoke through your s*hithole?

if you dont smoke, save your time, no preaching please....
one time, i used something called will power. You have the power to control your hands and mouth, use that power to fullest and you will feel more and more in control.
1. I was chain smoker for 14 years three packs a day.
2. it took just an evening deciding to quit. and its all about four years i haven-t smoked a puff.
3. Thus only will to do so.
Just once. After I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior I made a promise to God that I would not touch another cigarette and I asked Him to help me. Every time I wanted one I would remember my promise to God and would stay away from them.
I-ve been trying to quit for over a year now due to health problems but I just can-t . I quit on 3 previous occasions, no problems. But then again I wasn-t quitting for myself, I was pregnant each time I quit. I was using the Nicoderm Patch and it worked good but my craving for nicotine was stronger.
I quit cold turkey 10-1-04. I got divorced, and got the house--it was keep smoking, or pay the mortgage. $$$ is a good motivator. Good luck!

BTW--I smoked 2 packs of Kools every day for 27 years. If you are really determined, you can do it!
i-m on my third try. my longest quit was 18 months. it-s been a week for this time. going batty! i-ve been a smoker for 16 years.
i snoaked for 35 yrs it only took one time for me i used the patch for 12 weeks but it helped a lot i have been smoke free almost 2 yrs in Nov

Whatever you know or have heard would be helpful...
patch can make your skin itchy and wears off late in the day. be sure to buy the highest mg, even when you begin to reduce the dosage. simply cut them into half-s or quarters can save a lot of money-plus you can apply an extra half if you get a craving.

gums works ok, but I prefered the lozenges since they don-t require chewing.

Very best of Luck.

BTW C R is somewhat correct, but the power of BOTH a physical addition to nicotine and a mental conditioning of smoking being relaxing is very hard to overcome. its much easier if you can get rid psychological needs for a few months and then ween off or cold turkey the nicotine itself. and if cold turkey fails, make sure to go to gum, or lozenges instead of cigarettes.
I struggled to quit for a long time, but never was comfortable with pills or patches. Pay money to the pharmaceutical industry after I-ve been paying to tobacco industry for so many years? It-s like they are milking you both ways. And at the end of the day, I found an intelligent way to quit smoking.

The important thing is to realize that smoking creates strong emotional bonds - and it is these bonds that need to be severed. Physical cravings only serve to wake up memories of the emotion...

Once that realization and awareness sets in, it is then important to reframe your thinking about smoking. Instead of saying -I am stressed and therefore I smoke- say -I am stressed but there are other ways to deal with it-. This shift in thinking is important.

Good luck, and if you want to learn more, go to http://www.wisdomtoquit.com
I disagree with that concept. I have been a smoker, and I quit cold turkey. In my personal opinion, as long as you continue to give your body nicotine, it will still crave it. That is why people who -cut down- eventually start smoking the same amount again.

nope didn-t help me. try nicorette gum

Has anyone tried auricular therapy to quit smoking? Did it work? -

Has anyone tried auricular therapy to quit smoking? Did it work? -

They say it does according to some family practice doctors in St Louis. I had 4 of my patients go to one doctor for auricular therapy. NO ONE stopped smoking. All the doc did was a wallet biopsy. Can google tons of programs to stop smoking, many work. You have to be ready to stop smoking, mainly. Also, figure out what triggers smoking in the first place. If it is anxiety, get Valerian root tablets or an anti-anxiety medicine (very low dose). No one ever died of a very low dose of anti-anxiety medicine, but they did of lung cancer.
.My cousin also had this done twice and she is still smoking. I think it is in your will power. Good luck in quitting

How can I help my parents quit smoking? -

I-m 17 and my sister is 10. My parents are both almost 40, and they have been smoking since before I was born. We are so scared one of them is going to get cancer or something horrible. My dad wants to quit smoking, but my mom has never made an effort to quit except ordering the chantix pill which is now being connected to suicide. She says she wants to, but in my entire life the only times she has ever quit is when she was pregnant with my sister and I.

How can I help them? Any ideas? I would really appreciate it.
You can-t really help them when they really want to quit they will.
Tell them why you-re concerned. Give them facts, stats, stuff like that.
I got my mom to quit just by always telling her we (my siblings) were afraid she was going to die. And after awhile, it just happened.
But they have to want to stop themselves first.
ok - i am over 40 and still smoked on an off till recently. I will also let you in on a secret, if your mom is that focused on smoking still - she didn-t quit when she was pregnant. It-s just too hard to quit and go back and quit and go back that she can-t quit now. Any way, what really got me going wasn-t the death thing, but look at this - utube ad. I was helping my daughter with a project at sc hool about smoking and grades. It made me think there are worse things than dying from stuff.

Most smokers are not capable of quitting or even interested in quitting so a lot of them make a few half hearted attempts and fail.

To quit smoking requires supreme and extreme willpower and apparently it is much harder for a smoker to quit than it is for an alcoholic to give up alcohol.

Smokers know about the health hazards as they are printed on cigarette packets but most smokers are more interested in today than tomorrow.

About all you can do is to research the health hazards of smoking and present your findings to your parents but it is likely to be a losing battle.
You can try several different approaches. First, research more about smoking and cancer (on the web or anywhere), what cigarettes compose of, and what it-s harmful effects are. Then try to explain this over dinner one day by hinting about it and how bad it is (or you can use a recent event in the news or related to your life). For example, you can start out solemnly with -I heard today that my friend-s aunt died of lung cancer, and she smoked for 3 years. My friend-s really sad.- You could even go into detail like -And you know, my friend was describing the condition her aunt was in, and she said that her aunt looked so pale and gruesome with yellow teeth and chalk-like skin that she was repulsed.- That may be bending the truth a little, but it-s worth it if your parents do quit smoking. You can also mention what cigarettes are made up of (and I know they put some disgusting stuff in them). Another way to do this is try to make them feel really guilty (I mean, they kinda should be by making you and your sister inhaling second-hand smoke and making you feel uncomfortable). I don-t know if they smoke in front of you and/or in the house. If they do, then you can have your sister start coughing when your mom or dad puffs smoke in the same room or something (I start to cough when I smell cigarette smoke :P), and then act dramatic and say that you or your sister will end up dead in the hospital one day because of all the smoke. Secondhand smoke also kills quite frequently, so you can mention that too. Question if they really care about you and your sister....and tell them that it feels so horrible to deal with all the smoke everyday and the terrible fear that they (as in your parents) can die any moment. This could cause them to yell at you, but it-s worth a try.
You can also try this: talk to your mom and dad separately one day, and ask how they acquired the habit, and why they smoke. This way you can find out other ways to kill their habit. Try to understand, be calm when talking to them, and sweetly tell them (especially your mom) that you really care about them and don-t want to see them die. Quitting also means saving a lot of money.
And if you have any ideas yourself, try them out! Good luck with everything! :D
You are a very good kid who wants to help your parents.

The first thing you need to do is to make them want to quit. Your dad do want to quit. Good for him. Then your mom would have to persuade herself to quit for good. Since she loves you, I believe she will be willing to do it.

I smoked for 9 years and finally quit for good after quitting twice. I tried gum and fake cigarettes before. But now my body is actually rejecting cigarettes. How did I do it? I did some brainwash by reading an e-book. You can find it through the link in the source section. I really recommend it to your parents. It costs some money but much less than other ways. At least try it out because it has money back guarantee.
There are herbal supplements to help quit smoking. Plantain and Lobelia are two of the most popular herbs used to help wean people off cigarettes. Nature’s Way and Nature’s Answer are good brands. Price is around $5 -$15 online. For more information on how to quit smoking naturally please go to: www.VitaminGuineaPig.com.

Electronic Cigarettes are also another alternative for smokers to satisfy their cravings without emitting tobacco fumes. They contain less nicotine than regular cigarettes, and most do not produce secondhand smoke. If you go to youtube you will be able to find reviews for electronic cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes will usually run you $60-$150 and $10-$15 for refills but will average to be cheaper in the long run since a carton of cigarettes is usually around $40.

Vitamin B complex and Citicoline may also help with depression, anxiety which many smokers suffer from. Products I like are Jarrow B-Right and Jarrow Citicoline. Jarrow B-Right $9 online and Citicoline is around $18 online.

My friend started to smoke few months before but he can-t came out of it.He became a chain smoker. Is there any way to come out of it?
Like many others I smoked when I was young but managed to kick the habit before I was totally hooked, I was lucky and suffered no damage to my health. But for a close friend it was different, even though she was only a moderate smoker, her health was being seriously affected and getting worse with time. Now this is where I really sympathize with smokers. She like many smokers knew the dangers and had genuinely tried many different ways to quit smoking. She tried patches, hypnosis and read several books on the subject of quitting, nothing had worked. She always ended back at square one, knowing she needed to quit, but how, nothing had a lasting effect. That was until she tried Smoke Deter.

So why am I telling this, because I played a small part in her success. You see I heard about Smoke Deter through my son, his best mate had quit smoking using Smoke Deter and I convinced my friend to try it. She was very skeptical, but I was so concerned about her health that I said that if it didn-t work I would pay for it, so she had nothing to lose and that convinced her. That was a year and five months ago, it worked and she is no longer a smoker, she has never has the urge to smoke since she quit using Smoke Deter, that-s a fact and it-s the only product she tried that she-s happy to tell others about.

Smoke Deter is an herbal based liquid oral spray that is used 3 times a day, this is also supplemented with herbal pills which when combined is very effective at reducing your nicotine cravings. How quickly it works depends on the extent of your habit, it can work as quickly as 2 weeks or may take 3 months, regardless of the time, your health is worth the effort to kick your smoking habit.

Smoke Deter also offers a lifetime free membership support program, so you are never on your own, help is available 24 hours a day if you feel the need, like if your resolve is weakening. That-s what I like about Smoke Deter it changes your whole attitude to smoking, it works on your mind as well as your body. Unfortunately I-ve seen the damage smoking has done within my own family and also in my circle of friends, consequently I-m fully aware just how hard it is to stop smoking without some kind of help. I-ve seen first hand how Smoke Deter helped my friend quit smoking and so it-s not surprising she can-t say enough about it. So if this article brings Smoke Deter to your attention and as a result helps you kick the smoking habit, then for me writing about it has been worthwhile.

So if you-ve been wondering if these quit smoking products work, well I guess some do and some don-t, but one that has my recommendation is Smoke Deter, I-ve personally seen it work when other methods failed. I-m happy to pass that information on so that others looking for a safe natural way to quit can try Smoke Deter if they wish.

If you would like more helpful information on Smoke Deter or other free quit smoking information, you may like to visit the url in the source box below. It seems to confirm some of my comments and is dedicated to helping smokers improve their health, fitness and beat the smoking habit.
there is no medicine available,if someone says there is a medicine its to cheat u,u can quit smoking only by stopping it but some people will swear that an e-cigarette has helped them quit or cut down on cigarettes but at the moment they are not recognized by the FDA as a smoking cessation device, so this site will make no claims that it helps you quit or cut down on smoking real cigarettes.
Yes, he definitely can come out this. He can even do it without medication. You should ask your friend if he really wants to quit because it eventually comes down to him. You can-t force someone to do something they don-t want to do. Have him check out the site below. It could help him.
I-ve tried just about every method there is out there and there is only one I can recommend - NLP! It eliminates the cravings.
Gum patches and all the other just did not cut it for me, not to mention cold turkey which was the hardest, I even tried the electric cig and it is just no match to the real thing.

My father is 55 and he smokes a lot. He smokes one and a half of package a day. Who can tell me if Micoderm CQ works or not. His teeth are protez and I don-t think he can chew a Nicorrette gum. please, those who had experience with Micoderm CQ or commit or lazanges, tell me what works the best?
hes pretty deep. they now have nicotine-free smokes. since he is deep in the ritual aspect of it, perhaps those might be up his alley.
I smoked the same number of cigarettes as your father for 47 years. I thought I couldn-t stop smoking and I tried everything you can buy to help you stop. Nothing worked! Even after my doctor told me I had emphysema, I still couldn-t quit. I was taken to the hospital near death one night and fired up on the way home a week later. I was put on oxygen to help me breathe at night. The next year, I was in the hospital again for a week. Once again the doctor asked me when was I going to quit? My answer was why? What-s the pay-off? An extra two months in the nursing home?
He asked me who told me that and I said that I figured that out myself. To which, he replied that my reasoning was flawed.
-Nothing will reverse the lung damage, but if you stop smoking you will not damage them any further. You can still live a productive life if you stop now.-
Challenge your father not to quit forever, but simply stop smoking for two weeks. It-s really tough for about three or four days and after that, not too bad. Two weeks without cigarettes and he will feel so empowered and so much better, he-ll probably realize quiting is a real possibility. The gum, the anti-smoking aids, maybe it works for some folks, but not for me. What works is making a choice. Do I want to breathe or die? Breathing is better!
Hypnotism to stop smoking is an excellent way to end your smoking habit because the success rates are possibly double that of the patch and gum. You can also use hypnosis together with other stop smoking programs like the patch to achieve even better results.
The only thing that can possibly help him to quit smoking is his own self-determination. If the will is not there then no outside factors will help.
I used the the nicoderm tablets and good old fashioned lollypops, (you maybe too young to remember Kojak in the 70s.)

he was a detective that went areound with a toostie pop so he would not smoke and he would always say, -who loves ya baby?-

anyway, after 3 month of tablets, ihave not smoked since thanksgiving and still suck on the suckers a little , but not much.
I quit using nicotene nasal spray - worked for me.

As I said I am not going to smoke another cigarette in this life time, my last one was last night before I fell asleep. I gave away the cigarettes I had, except for one sealed pack that will be my trophy. But I am in need of some help, can anyone out there help me in this? I know the whole world hates a quitter, but I don-t care any more, I can-t breathe. I looked through many of the sites that say they can help you stop but they want me to smoke for just a few more days, but I made my decision today and if I do not do it today, I never will. Help? Sorry this is so long but I am frusterated with the helkpers that do not want to help me NOW!
i believe its all will power. you want to lose weight, get a better job, even quit smoking, all it takes is the right frame of mind. do not let anything or anyone stand in your way...especially those that encourage you to break. because in the long run, its your life not theirs...who-s gonna give a d a m n for you if not yourself?...you sound like you are resolved to quit once and for all...excellent! thats the way to start...go cold turkey..forget the gums and the patches...that stuff is for people that need to be weened off their addictions...just quit and end of story...once its out of your system its out. im not saying it will be easy...but it will be worth it in the end. focus on something else...when you get a craving go and workout or jog a while...do something that benefits your health rather than deteriorates it. pysche your body out...when you get cravings for a cigarette..punish your body and lift weights or anything else that will get your mind off the cigarettes.
just my two cents.
Go on a long camping trip where you don-t have access to cigarettes. Cold Turkey it and go crazy where no one can see you. Plus the fresh outdoor air will do you good to help clean out your lungs. Buy lots and lots of gum, I-m talking cases of the stuff, preferably sugerless.
Try the patch or some other aid (ie. Nicorette Gum). When I quit, I used the patch, and it worked great. In the end though, it doesn-t matter what aid you use, you still have to want to quit.
All of the above is definitely good advice the only other useful peice of advice if I may be so bold is please get rid of that trophy.
i quit smoking about 20years ago
i had the same problem
now i can breath much better
good luck
I am a doc and I got my own dad to quit, as well as a number of other people. I got a heroin addict off of both dope and smokes, but he told me later that stopping the smokes was harder!!!!
My advice: Cold turkey just works best, despite all the stuff they try to sell you. It takes two weeks to get your body to withdraw from the nicotine. You will be in a BAD mood, so don-t plan anything stressful, like a family reunion or something. But...after two weeks, the addiction will be only in your mind, not your body anymore.
If you really have trouble during those first two weeks, I suggest you could always to to the pharmacy and pick up some of that nicotine gum to chew. You chew a little and then less and less over a couple of weeks. But lots of people have just gone ahead and done it cold turkey.
Next you have to figure out what makes it worse. Do you want a cigarette when you watch a certain tv show? Or is it when you are sitting on the porch before bed? Everybody has a pattern, you need to know what yours is, and try to think of something to distract you during your smoking pattern times. Maybe you could call up a friend and talk during that tough time, or maybe you could get yourself a celery stick to chew on or a piece of long grass to chew on the end part like we all used to do as kids.
You can do it, all you have to do is decide right now. Make sure your freinds are all on board with this, you can-t have them dragging you down and offering you cigarettes etcetera.
But yes, it is hard, but you CAN do it, I know because I have seen many people be successful.
In Colorado (and I am sure other states) there is a quit-line you can call and they will give you free nicotine patches, also there is a prescription that a lot of doctors are prescribing called Bupropion it is an antidepressant, but also works for quiting. I also agree about the idea about going camping without cigarettes that would work well also, but before you go get rid of all the ashtrays in the house, or where you usually smoke, clean out your car so there won-t be the smell to lure you back when you get home, also don-t go around people that smoke, it will only make you want one.

What is the most effective method to quit smoking? -

Guided hypnosis ... one on one.
Not the group sessions.

Quitting on your own is a real option as well, however you must basically self hypnotize yourself each time the urge to light up arrives or when around other smokers, stressful situations etc.

The addiction isn-t nicotine as commonly perceived it-s the addiction to the many sensual habits involved with smoking.

I hope this helps.
Best,
Dave
Try to get more information regarding some ways to stop smoking at my profile.
Actually wanting to quit smoking (more than you want to smoke). Works for drinking too. Theres oh I-m quitting/cutting down puff puff puff, or oh I-ll just have a few more/finish this pack. Or you can bit the bullet and stop doing it, something that helps to remember is that the drugs gone from your system in 3 days, and after a week your bodies basically recovered from the physical addiction. You will still get cravings but as time goes on they become less.
Also if you lapse and have a cigarette, just keep trying if it-s a pack chuck it out again, throw out the cigarette don-t finish it.

edit: oh yeah if that is too hard, you could change your addiction to the gum or the patches, and stop damaging your lungs.
chewing nicotine gum you can buy it at wallgreens and you have to stop smoking bcause if you smoke while using the gum you-ll never quit
well,i can see that none of the people that answered you were smokers.. you cant even begin to imagine how hard it is to quit smoking.. its easy to say..do this,do that.. not everyone can do it.. if you just started and quit thats one thing, but if you have been smoking most of your life.. its virtually almost impossible.. if you have never smoked, then you shouldnt be answering this question, cuz you dont have a clue to it..i personally have tried everything on the market out there..but the key is..you have to want to quit..if you dont really want to quit.. your not going to do it. i dont care what you use.. you have to be ready mentally first... i will say though, that i hope you dont ever use that chantix method.. it helped me for about 5 months and it had me so depressed that i was seeking sucide... obviously,i was stronger (thank GOD) and fought it off.. quitting smoking is the same as a drug addict coming off herion.. that is a fact...not a myth..so for yous that say..oh,just fight it.. you-ve never been there,so you dont have a clue..stick to questions, you actually know about...unfortuntely,i am still smoking, and hope to quit again soon.. my advice would be to stay away from anyone that smokes for a while, till you get yourself and mind prepped for it...and go to places that do not allow smoking or also know as safe places.. and spend most of your day in them. i was doing good at work,it was home that wasnt the safe place... and i failed.. but i-m not done trying... i wish you much luck and determination to do this... i really hope you can conquer it,once and for all.....
This is what worked for me.

Watch someone you love die of cancer! Volenteer to help in the cancer ward of a local hospital...they could always use help, and it would be a real wake up call to you!
Set a date of significance, commit to it and between now and then, like a mantra, repeatedly go over within yourself all of the good reasons for quitting. Build up a psychological arsenal and prepare for physiological AND psychological battle. Cold Turkey when the day comes. Try to occupy your time with things throughout the day. When you have the urge to smoke go ahead and change activities. Have plenty of snacks and drinks. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL! Not even a little bit. Sleep as much as you can.
For me it was cold turkey. I gave all my money to my hubby so I wouldn-t be tempted, and it will be six years in July since I quit, and I was smoking close to a pack a day every day for 13 years!

It can be done, you just have to really want to quit. Now I can-t stand the smell of cigarettes. You can do it.
The best and easiest way is to not start at all.
Those patch things
get support and help it makes you feel like you have to prove something. if not 2 urself but to them to! c, x
stop buying or borrowing cigarettes.

Cold turkey is impossible.. gum tastes horrible - patches don-t do much.....
My husband and I smoked since we were in our teens (16 years old). More on than off I-m afraid. At age 45 we finally kicked the habit in the most unusual way. We bought a new home, the new carpet, paint, and fresh wood smelled so good and clean. We both made a house rule before we moved in, to not smoke in the house. It worked quit well smoking out side during the summer and fall, then came winter and the snow with it. We found our selves outside less and less. Before winter was over we had lost our craving for cigarettes! We-re both 64 now, we haven-t touched a cigarette since then! We learned from past experience that once you quit and start again a short time later, it is harder to quit the next time around. so we simply didn-t try even one little drag as we had in the past when we would quit for only a couple of weeks. You really have to get it out of your system good to lose the craving. Then never ever go back.
I know two people who had Acupuncture. It worked for one but not the other.
Jumping off a very tall building has a 100% success rate.
Zyban. Ive tried evrything else, zyban is by far the easiest and most effective.
the craving for a cig. only lasts 3 mins.
occupy yourself for that time and you should
find that it goes away.
do this each time you feel the need for a cig.

good luck.
try to decrease the number each day!!!! thats the best way and it helped many of my relatives to quit.
CHANTIX works GREAT!!!

Good luck its not easy but u have to wanta quit too
cold turkey and will power! it doesn-t matter what method you use to stop you will need willpower to stay stopped. i went cold turkey two years ago and even now its only my will power that stops me from starting smoking again. i still get cravings now! when i do i remember back to when i had just stopped and how bad it was feeling like that all the time and think to myself how horrible it would be to have to do that again!
Don`t start in the first place.
my hubby had my support also from his son and he had plenty of will power but before then he saw my mother lying on her death bed it scared him has she was dying ,my mother was only 59 and died of cancer in the throat and lungs, and she only smoked 10 fags per day
If you find out let me know.
Take a 2week vacation to a place that you can-t smoke and you won-t be around smokers. By the time you get back you won-t even miss them. That-s what I did and I have never looked back and it-s been over 20yrs.

nope, i-m having one right now answering your question, and it tastes good, life is too short, enjoy life now, i mean you know the saying we could get hit by a bus tomorrow
Today is my first smoke-free day in over 20 years....I need all the prayer support i can get!
i wish.
the boyfirneds making me. but its soo hard. grr.
the patch. highest success rate, gaurantees stable dose of nicotine over a long period of time. keep the gum in your pocket if you have an extra large craving. if you need something to do with your hands, grab bottled water.
i don-t smoke.
yes!
Don-t buy -em or borrow -em.
Nicotrol.
Nope, I still smoke.
Your question is really brief, if you are asking how to quit smoking, I wish I had the answer, but I have found a good way to cut back. Never more than 1 cigarette in an hour. Never carry cigarettes with you. Make certain places off limits to yourself, like in the car or at the computer. Try to cut back first then the nicotine dependancy lessens. I used to smoke a pack a day now I am down to 7 to 9 cigarettes for the past year.
I don-t smoke, and if you do, please do whatever you can to stop, it-s bad for you in case you haven-t noticed.
the way i think of it is if you never start you never have to quit
Should you quit smoking? Yes. It-s better for your health. Did I quit smoking? I went cold turkey. I don-t think I-ve ever been so grumpy in my entire life as that first week...I kept biting carrots wishing I was biting people-s heads off :)
if one wants to......
Sorry - not sure how you want this question answered, but yes, I have quit smoking!

I have a question for you - how did you get your avatar full length?!
Yeah, I-d like to...
Ok, its easier said than done..
I quit smoking for 6 months.. i was doing pretty good... then my wedding day turned into a disaster--my father in law was admitted to the hospital i work at ON MY WEDDING DAY, my mother in law had to move in with me (since they live in Cali, and we live in PA) and she got real paranoid.. and i tried to stay clean, but i failed.. and now its harder than ever for me to quit.
its easy to quit, i-ve done it a million times.
Oh no, the way I see it, if I-m going to die (which I know I will), I-m going to die happy!
Pick an organ system in the body, and smoking will harm it. Conversely, stopping smoking will benefit it.

Lungs - smoking increases risk of cancer, worsens asthma, and causes emphysema. You-ll be out of breath faster, something every athlete desires.
Heart - smoking increases risk of coronary artery disease, heart attacks, and poor peripheral circulation. It can cause or worsen high blood pressure.
GI tract - smoking increases risk of cancer of the throat and colon.
Skin - increases wrinkles and speeds the aging process - good for every image-conscious smoker.
Sex life - well, the penis is part of the peripheral circulation, and guess what? Smoking will worsen circulation there, too. Have fun, porn star.
There-s more.

So, if your question is Should I quit smoking? and you care about any of the above... well, I shouldn-t even have to say more.
never have never will
No second thoughts on this: If you smoke- just quit it....without even thinking about whether or not!

Its easy,i have quit smoking many times......B-8
Smoking is a horrible habit. I quit a 2 pack a day habit using an electronic cigarette. They are amazing. The last time I had a traditional cigarette was an hour before I got my e-cig in the mail. I have not had the desire to smoke a traditional cigarette ever since. They don-t stink at all and you can smoke them indoors at bars and restaurants. I feel a million times better now. Here is a link to the company I buy from. They have one of the best reputations in the e-cig world and great prices. Good luck on your journey to a healthier you.

I-ve tried just about every method there is out there and there is only one I can recommend - NLP! It eliminates the cravings.
Gum patches and all the other just did not cut it for me, not to mention cold turkey which was the hardest, I even tried the electric cig and it is just no match to the real thing.
Check out this article: http://www.squidoo.com/Not_Smoking_Any_More
it’s the one that got me off the cigs and smoke free for GOOD even without gaining weight! :)

Good luck kicking the habit!

has anyone else been through this? is there anything i can do to improve my concentration. i have something really important to write requiring the most concentration ive ever needed and ive lost the ability to concentrate nearly all together. i feel like smoking again!!
I quit smoking a couple of months ago
to improve ur concentration, i chewed gum it took my mind off it.
throw any left over cigarettes away
and lock your lighter away
also get people to support u and if u reach for a cigarette make them tell you NO! sternly.

it helps. :D
Its nicotine withdrawal and you are reaching the end of it, dont smoke again or you will have to do through withdrawal another time.
Stick at it and slow down, you need to take something to slow your system down as its agitated because it needs nicotine.
You can either go to the doctors for something or you could try taking some paracetamol, I know it sounds daft but it sends signals to the brain that help with pain control so you are less likely to be agitated.
I gave up smoking a month ago now and I still fancy a cig so it takes a long time for your head to stop wanting one as in 3/4 days the nicotine withdrawal will start to ease.
Good luck and stick with it.
It is withdrawal from nicotine.

If the concentrating is getting too hard to do, maybe you should see a doctor and get nicotine patches. Or depending on where you are in the world, maybe a pharmacy or hospital can give you nicotine patches for free.

My housemate found she had to replace smoking with chewing for almost two months, the stress was that much. Not one pencil in my house was spared by her.

Get the help, and do not give in to having a smoke again, your three days down, it may get a bit harder but smoking is unhealthy and you are better to be not smoking.
Yeah its awful, I gave up three weeks ago and the first couple of days I went through really hard periods of just wanting a cigarette. Take five Min-s and just remind yourself again why you quit in the first place and realise that you WONT enjoy the cigarette if you do have one.

Good luck with whatever your writing.
Well done for stopping.

Get some polo mints and try to keep busy.

Remember, if you start smoking again you will stink and you will disappoint yourself.

Who-s the idiot that told you to start smoking again? What a d!ckhead.
Yeah, it-s normal, part of nicotine withdrawal. You-re at or close to the worst point -- it should get bettter within a week or two.
its called a withdrawal symptom and will usually lead you to go back to smoking
its normal stick too it

Is it normal to cough more right after you quit smoking? -

Nicotine and other drugs in cigarettes actually paralyze the cillia in your bronchial tubes. These are the tiny hair-like projections that work hard to keep impurities out of your lungs. When you smoke, they stop working. When you stop smoking, they spring into action again and push all the crud out of your lungs and bronchial tubes. That-s why you cough so much... to help bring it up. That-s a very good sign, even though it may seem a little annoying or disgusting at first. If you just quit smoking, congratulations on making a great decision. My father died from his cigarette habit, and it was terrible to see him suffer for seven years before he died.
yes
ABSOLUTELY!! I quit 15 yrs ago. This is a CLEANSING COUGH...like others have mentioned. It takes 72 hrs, for ALL the Nicotine to leave your body. After that, it is no longer a physical craving, so to speak. Congratulations...I always said that Quitting Smoking was so easy I did it 22 Times!!....I kept @ it until I was 100% succesful...hardest thing I ever did, - now it-s GR8 to Breathe Again! Hang In Therte...HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH, - DON-T TRASH ANY ACTIVE SMOKERS...THEY KNOW ALREADY....The -DRINK-TONS-OF-WATER- is # 1 Advice....

The last time I -quit- smoking I still wanted to murder everyone in my sight after 4 months. I quit smoking again, and it-s been 3 weeks and I am so angry all the time it-s annoying as hell. Will it take years to quit being angry????
So that-s why I-m blowing up at my housemate. I-m down to a couple a day, and I forgot about the quick rages until I read your question. Quiting drinking wasn-t real bad, but I-m still hyper even after walking 3-5 mi a day. I-d walk more if it wasn-t for the gout. Time for me to take some those downers so other people can get some peace around here. Best of luck.
lol i was fine after a month so it sounds as if there is underlying circumstances
Sounds like you have a lot of anger...seek a shrink, you have issues!!
Maybe the quitting has nothing to do with the rage.
you have a choice, to be angry and miserable or be calm and happy as hell that you quit smoking.

I quit smoking 23 days ago and Im still doing it tough? -

Me and my husband gave up on July 1st.
I still crave them and I still get cranky. I really struggle to not go and buy a pack. The lozenges and gum make me feel sick and they dont ease the craving. My doctor told me that the nicotine is out of your system after 2 weeks but the addiction is the hardest to kick. SHE-S TELLIN ME!!
Non smokers seem to think its a breeze to give up.

What can I do?
I keep busy, chew gum but I need to do more.
It took a good month for the bad cravings to stop, for me anyway. It seemed like cold turkey was the best way to go. i smoked a lot for a long time, but finally feel free! It-s good you and your husband quit, but remember, if he caves in. Your not free to cave in too. Be strong, you-ll be so happy that you made it through...
I was a smoker for 25 years and I had quit smoking for over six times ,but never really quit smoking before.Just after I read that quit smoking program, I realized how easy quitting smoking was.I am a non-smoker now! I highly recommend this program to you.It really works. You can check out

Keep something nearby for sticking in your mouth such as a straw or a toothpick, anything that makes you have that -feeling- of a cigarette in your mouth.
I am not a smoker so I have no idea what the addiction is like but my mom quit 6 months ago and my grandfather quit 2 years ago. They both have said they still have cravings. My grandfather had them bad in the morning. His cancer was enough motivation to stick it out. My mother has been drinking Orange Juice, when she had went to a quit smoking club years ago they said OJ puts back something in your body that the nicotine takes out. I hope this helps a little. Keep toughing it out.
A very wise decision indeed. Beef up ur will power and do not fall back

If lozenges and gums do not work for you. Try a natural remedy instead. I used a natural remedy to curb my withdrawal symptoms and nicotine craving called -Crave Rx-. It is effective with no side effects.

Good luck!!
Its sooo hard. I have not smoked in about five years and I still get cravings so bad i think i might die. Its awful. Be prepared you are going to be cranky and moody and just feeling awful for awhile. But when its all over and done you will feel better.

After i quit smoking Cannabis a week ago... i still feel slightly strange in the head...? -

I stopped smoking cannabis a week ago after doing it for about 3 months (i know it doesn-t sound long) and ever since then, i still feel a tiny bit stoned all the time and sometimes i feel like i-m in a dream world.....

Will this feeling pass after a month or so? Or will i be stuck with it for life, i-m worried, HELP
I thought you felt like that smoking cannabis
It will pass in time; cannabis is like any other substance - if you withdraw it suddenly after a period of regular use, you will notice a difference.

Three months of use is not, IMO, long enugh to trigger a serious problem, though it does sound like cannabis probably isn-t for you, so good for you for being sensible enough to quit. Too many people just press on, and wind up making themselves ill, which does nothing to help the decrim campaign..
everyone is so stupid, they act like mary j is so bad, your body is flushing out toxins and you might have slight witdrawals, other than that u will be fine,as for me 420 4 life
First let me congratulate you on your decision to stop putting any kind of drug into your body, as you must know, any drug will take a while to completely leave your system,so just give it time, please don`t be tempted to restart, you do not know if you would be one of these people that has an addictive nature and be likely to progress to other stronger drugs, all of these really sad people that have their lives ruined by drugs also started by using the lesser ones. Sermon over, sorry.
Chris.
it-ll die down the longer you go clean. just withdrawral symptoms and such, whch continue for a while because your brain has been used to the influx of cannabis. should go quite soon. just dont go back to doing it.
I-m not sure, but grats on quitting! It-s an addictive drug when you-re depressed, I know, and it-s hard not to turn to it or alcohol to numb the senses. I-ve never heard of any lingering effects of marijuana - could you have gotten a bad batch laced with something else??
It will pass, I have been in the same boat too. It was very strange and I felt dazed for a while.

How did you quit smoking tobacco?
Hi A.S...

After smoking for over 40 years, I have now been quit for over 5 years.. having tried most of the methods available, and having little success, i joined a support group.. i have found that contact with others, who were going through the same thing helped me.. also the advise of those who had gone before, was instrumental, in my establishing a quit, that has lasted..

I attend Nicotine Anonymous meetings both locally, and online.. online voice meetings are as close as your computer.. however you decide to quit good luck!! there is simply no wrong way to quit.. while its seldom easy, in the end it is entirely doable!!

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.
There really isn-t any easy way. Without a doubt it is one of the toughest challenges I have ever had to face, but it is possible. There are some medications that can help Like Zyban or Wellbutrin. The meds are used as antidepressants but have also proven to help stop smoking. I used Zyban and after about a week I did not have the desire to smoke that much. I still had to focus and use my own willpower, but the Zyban made it easier than stopping cold. You can do anything if you want it bad enough. Don-t tell people you are trying to quit smoking. Instead tell them that you have -stopped- smoking. Keep your eye on the prize.
I think this is one of your best decisions. You must know what are the advantages of quitting:

http://www.knowabouthealth.com/cigarette…

This will keep you motivated throughout. My friend was chain smoker and he quit. He use to say, just be mentally strong and you can do it. Here are some tips that helped him:

http://www.knowabouthealth.com/8-easy-ti…

I had been trying to no avail and then I found out I was pregnant and that was the last straw I set a fire I made a fire and burned them all. It-s tough to quit cold turkey though but I did it and it worked. And I called someone every time I wanted to smoke and I chewed through packs and packs of gum and everytime I wanted one I-d jog around the block or do something else.

You can do it!
I recommend cutting down gradually until your quit date. I did this. I cut down to half a pack. I did this for three months. I smoked by the puff, not by the cigarette. I took only the amount of nicotine that was necessary to satisfy my urge to smoke and put the rest of the cigarette out.

After doing this for three months I quit cold turkey.

Now I-m eating more candy to distract me but its been 4 months. I have urges but they don-t last more than a second or two. If they-re lasting more than that then you-re concentrating on the cigarette. Don-t do it. Concentrate on something else.
There are several methods to quit but imo the underlining reason is your will to quit and everything else just helps you out

please suggest me how to quit smoking??????????
try this suggestions !
its hard to quit smoking immediately, so go slow, i did so.make some rules like

1.at start, never smoke alone, if you have company then you can (if you do so half smoking is quit)
2. insist on sharing a cigarette.
3.when you feel like smoking, eat something.
3.fix your day(like Sunday) and say to yourself when you feel the urge, -i will smoke on Sunday, i can on Sunday-
4.once you reduced it to once a week its easy to quit completely.
5.start exercising and workout ! like jogging/gym/swimming etc it helps.

in the end it all depend on your will power. if you have strong will power you can make your own rules.
Really want to quit smoking ...

Try Electronic Cigarette

The Electronic Cigarette is a device that simulates the functions of a cigarette without the harmful chemicals such as tar, carbon monoxide, arsenic found in real cigarettes. Electronic Cigarette uses a small replaceable cartridge filled with a small dose of nicotine and flavored propylene glycol liquid, utilized and powered by a rechargeable battery. When the user inhales on the device, the air flow is detected by a pneumatic airflow sensor switch. A microprocessor then activates an atomizer which injects little droplets of the liquid into the flowing air and vaporizes the liquid.

Thanks
Have you heard of the new electronic cigarettes? There was a story about them on Yahoo about a week ago. I-ve been smoking for 30 years and have tried everything to quit smoking without any success. I just ordered my electronic cigarette starter package last night and I-m very excited about it. They simulate a real cigarette which none of the other quit smoking aids have done. They come with a rechargeable battery, when you inhale, you get a burst of nicotine for that craving and it actually looks like you-re blowing out smoke but it-s a water vapor mist. The tip of the cigarette even illuminates. So you get the nicotine you crave, the hand and mouth fixation is covered and exhaling the vapor mist looks like smoke.

The beauty of it is you still get all the stuff you crave from smoking without all the negative side effects or harmful additives found in tobacco. The starter kit comes with the electronic cigarette, battery, and five nicotine cartridges. Each cartridge is supposed to be equal to 1-2 packs of cigarettes. The kit is $69 and the cartridge refills are around $13 for a pack of five. And there is a 30-day money back guarantee so you have nothing to lose. I ordered from the site below.
There are obviously different answers for different people.

I think the best way (and this is the way I did it after smoking for over 20 years) is to simply stop. Make up your mind not to buy any, and when the pack runs out then that is it. Dont substitute it for patches or gum. Just stop.

The cravings take a bit to get used to, but they become manageable soon. It is the habit of what to do with your hands that takes a lot of getting used to.

Health benefits start almost as soon as you put out your last cigarette, and they keep on getting better every day. I think that is what makes it worthwhile - and it is worth stoppping just to experience it.
Quitting smoking is not an easy task for some people. Others can pick it up and put it down without trouble at all. I personally quit cold turkey. The first 3 days are the hardest. I recommend during that time you have some gum or hard candy available. When you start having a craving have a piece of candy or chew the gum. Don-t focus on your craving cuz if you do, you are setting yourself up to fail. Just remember that alot of the time it is mind over matter.

Good luck
I have been smoke free for 7 years and the only trick that worked for me was to just throw them way. It took a few tries, but eventually it worked. The first week is the hardest as you withdraw from nicotine addiction.

I tried lowering the amount I smoked by one every day but I was still absorbing nicotine, so that didn-t work.

You need to just not smoke when you wake up. Think about it, you-ve already gone 8 hours (sleep time) of no smoking.

You also need to change your habits. If you wake up and light a butt and then take a shower, mix up your routine.

I chewed about 20 packs of Chiklets per day to satisfy my cravings. It was mostly a distraction, but that also worked for me. Try to find something that will satify the hand to mouth habit - meaning, you-re used to bringing that cigg up to your mouth - try gum or water. Sounds lame, but it can work if you psych yourself up enough.

I also had a reward for myself. What I saved in $$ by not buying them, I bought other things like cd-s, dvd-s, or went out to dinner. You-d be amazed at how much money you spend on butts.

Lastly, don-t beat yourself up if you fail. Just try again. I guarantee you won-t miss the wheezing, coughing or phlegm!
Ween yourself off is the best. Cold turkey will just drive you back to smoking, because it will drive you crazy so fast, you-ll want one, and you-re hooked again. Just start off with a number, and work your way down each week until you hit zero.
I started at the age of 13 smoking and I am now 17. Did I quit cold turkey, hell no! What I did. I watched A LOT of videos of what smoking WILL do to you, if you continue. I also found the love of my life. She is beautiful and she helped me as well.
You have to really really want to quit to be successful.

There are many aids to help you in smoking cessation. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Quit smoking by using ur willpower. No other way ever for smokers.
If you are determined to quit smoking, then never try it again.O.K.
just stop buying packs of cigarettes. buy those nicoteen patch things.
just dont smoke and thats it....
i cant believe that you let a pack of cigarettes control u....
dont start and if u did have a little ****** self control and stop its not that hard
dont light a ciggy
when u crave just puff on unlit ciggy

If you have HIV, should you quit smoking? -

Obviously smoking is bad for you. My boyfriend smokes and was diagnosed with HIV 4 years ago (still doesn-t need meds). I-m wondering if quitting smoking will greatly impact his life in regard to the development of AIDS, and in assisting death.

I-m not asking if smoking will kill him. That will obviously, eventually. I-m asking if quitting smoke is a good idea in respect to HIV and the development of AIDS, or if it will really make much of a difference.
only one way to find out...
Yes its a good idea id he does quit cus here is the thing...people don-t die from aids technicaly speaking they die from all the illneses they get cus their immune system is low so they can-t fight of the illness so if he is smoking he needs to quit asap it will not help him at all! He will get lung cancer much faster than a person without Hiv.
Yes. When you have HIV your immune system is compromised. If you smoke then your lungs are deteriorating. Your weak immune system can-t fight off the toxins in the cigarettes and you-ll just get lung cancer faster.
I would assume so

Why do it? Anything in excess is bad for the body, and vigorous cardio exercise is not recommended especially when you have just quit smoking. Give your body a time to heal by practising moderation.

I just quit smoking - does anyone know if the extremely sore throat is normal? -

I have almost lost my voice
I am going into my fourth day of quitting smoking, and it is incredibly difficult. I have broken down a few times, but I do want to say that from personal experience, I have gotten what I thought were colds when I attempted to quit in the past. This is because the cilia, or hair-like structures around your lungs that filter out nasty air (i.e. cigarettes) are healing themselves. They heal at a really fast rate, actually, so what you are going through is normal. It is also normal to have coughing with phlegm. So, go ahead and get the tea and honey or throat lozenges as was suggested. That will help a lot. Get a lot of rest. Perhaps even try a chloroseptic spray (but be careful as these are harmful for long-term use too) to help your throat. One final suggestion is to try an expectorant to try and cough up some of the phlegm.
Actually as an ex smoker I can tell you that it is pretty normal. If you are feeling really sick, seek the opinion of a physician or specialist doctor. Drink a lot of liquids. Lemonade with a tea spoon of honey will do the job or throat lozenges. Drink hot liquids. Gargle with baking soda and luke warm water; afterwards with water , lemon juice and a little salt in a small glass. Exchange this gargles about every 4 hours. This will change the PH in your throat killing of the bacteria that has formed their. It will also sooth your irritated throat. Tea with honey will also feel good. Hope this helps.
I quit 20 days ago and for 2 days now, I-ve had a sore throat. I-ve read quite a bit on quitting smoking and a sore throat is a very common side effect of quitting smoking. No worries. :)
Your body will have a tough time fighting the nicotine addiction, and will often exhibit symptoms such as the ones your experiencing. If it doesn-t go away after a few weeks, see a doctor.
I never got a sore throat when I quit.. and I was a smoker for 4 years. Possibly a cold? If you want a tip drink lots of caffeine, it will help, trust me.
I think it-s just coincidence that the sore throat showed up. But maybe it-ll help your will power to stay off the sigs.
smoking has nothing to do with your throat problem you-re having now .
probably. ur throat is recovering and building new cells.

congrats!

Hey, I-m sure you-ve all heard it before, but I-d quite like to stop smoking.

Any general advice would be appreciated.

I-ve tried nicotine patches and...well, I didn-t find them particularly effective.
try a support group
I personally went to one of those hoaky hypnosis seminars thinking that it probably wouldn-t work...that was on 3/6/03 and I haven-t had a cigarette since!! The biggest tool here is that you really have to want to quit and you have to tell yourself that there is no turning back...this time they are gone! I also used deep breaths when I got the urge to reach for them...told myself very firmly -NO- and I followed it with -this too shall pass-. It worked!
You could be like Greg off Meet the Parents and chew that gum like there-s no tomorrow. :)

You can also get a prescription for these pills from the doctor. My Mommy got them and she has really cut down on cigarettes, although she wasn-t trying to quit.

My Dad got hypnotized. It worked for 5 years! The second time it only worked for a year. He-s under a TON of stress so that explains it though. They put you in a trance and show you gross pictures while telling you that cigarettes are poison. I-d look into it.

When you-re trying to quit, make sure not to drink any caffeine. It makes you crave cigarettes really bad! xD

Good luck! :)
Just quite smoking bit by bit. Everyday other day remove one stick of your usual number of stick you smoke per day. That way, your body will experience just slight, if any, withdrawal symptoms.
There is going to be a hypnosis seminar going on it Baltimore next weekend, this worked for me before, I know it sounds weird. The thing is that when I was with this guy he did not like me smoking, so he paid for it, well needless to say he cheated and I thought that I would piss him off by starting again, but I got sicker then a dog. I should have never started, so I figure it worked before and it only cost 40 bucks and I spend that in 1 week easy for smokes. Any way it may or may not work, do not go to private therapist, they are costly this guy gives you a life time guarantee, needless to say I lost my other one so now I have to pay.
thats great that u tried to stop, and try gum, and let or friends or family help ou too, there a milloin choices out for you. hope this helps!!
to start with you must determine if you are more chemically or mentally addicted. There is a difference. I was a 4 pack per day, 25 year smoker. I was more mentally addicted than chemical. There are different measures taken to be successful in quiting. You must be prepared for the mood swings and physical discomforts. Also be aware that most of us started smoking as kids and never experienced life before tobacco as adults with any life experiences to speak of. Every day life will be changed. It is good. I am 17 years smoke free and lovin every minute of it.

Good luck ! ! !
wellbutrin worked for me
chew gum instead
I know a couple that quit last year and their best method to help them was to always keep gum and chew it whenever they wanted a cigarette and smoking one very little until not at all. It also takes great willpower. I have heard that hypnosis, even the audios from the internet, help greatly in gaining enough willpower.
My hubby smoked for 30 years. I have a severe smoke allergy and asthma. So he had an incentive to want to quit (if he wanted to be with me). He was put on Wellbutrin by the doctor and it made it so that cigarettes tasted awful. After a month or so, he couldn-t stand the smell of cigarette smoke. He took the Wellbutrin for about a year and has been off of it for several years now. He has no desire to smoke. :)

Good luck! :)
Stick one over each eye and you won`t be able to find your cigarettes!
Have a peppermint each time you crave a cigarette, the craving will go away.

And to have lots of water, and the nicotine will wash out

Make sure you get a lot of fresh air and exercise, it will help your brain recover

have faith
Instead of smoking, do something else wit yo hands.
DUH!!!

Many people in this support group have been thru any problems you face, can talk with you about it. Check it out!

I used the nicotine gum, and the above named support group, and got off the cigarettes after a 42 year addiction.
thats very tough to do. My hubby has smoked for over 30 yrs. and tried to quit and did for a few days but couldn-t handle it. Now my son who has been smoking for over 11 yrs has quit smoking and he doesn-t appear to be having problems doing it at all. Both of them quit cold turkey-no help-except trying to psyche themselves out everytime they want a cigarette.
Hi Ben,
My sister got her some suckers..
called Dumb-Dumbs Walmart has them...kept one in mouth each time she wanted a cig..
Good Luck
Try will power....if u want to really quit smoking and i mean REALLY then make up ur mind and just stop.. u can do it if u put ur mind to it....
They have a new laser treatment, at least here in Wisconsin that supposed to work for $300.00. Some people it works on but they use a laser to the part of your brain that gets addicted. My mom just ha it done, she smoked for 40 yrs, she said her body doesn-t crave it it is just trying to find something to do with her hands.
try resolve
First, you have to really want to quit.
Second, you just have to stop. The first 72 hours are the worst. After that, it-s all in your head.
Third, don-t put yourself in a situation where you would normally like to smoke for a t least a couple of weeks. (bars, haning out with chain smokers, etc)

For me, the best thing I did was to stop going in to the gas station. Just paid for gas at the pump and did not go in to the store. I also had to ask my family not to mention it to me either. Don-t tell me I-m doing good, don-t ask me if I am having cravings, and if I am being crabby, just ignore me.

Research shows that quitting cold turkey is the most effective way to stop and the least likely method to allow for slipping back.

Patches - gum continue to give you the nicotine you are addicted to. Wellbutrin doesn-t make you want to quit, it doesn-t make you sick when you smoke, it doesn-t make cigarettes taste bad. It just makes it so that you don-t want to choke everyone while you are trying to quit.
try the nicotine inhaler!! that seems to help, i used it.

What is the best way, the easiest way, and the fastest way to quit smoking? -

throw away all cigs, NOW
do it the natural way smoke less gradually and then ull stop needing it as much ... fast is never good... find another thing to do instead of smoking ... like chewing your gum
Throw your ciarettes away and say that-s it!
I did it 7 years ago and think it is one of the best things I have ever done! Good luck!
quit cold turkey. The sooner you quit, the healthier you will be for your children and grandchildren to enjoy you!
Get a jam jar fill it with water put all your used cigarette butts in it, leave it for a while then take a sniff it will either knock you out or make you throw up . that should do the trick!!!!!!! you can but try it!!!!
First of all, there isn-t any fast or easy way. However, I was a pack a day smoker for ten years and I haven-t smoked a cigarette for the last five years. Here-s how I did it. When I got the urge to smoke, I didn-t smoke the whole cigarette. Who decided what the size of cigarettes should be anyway? I would just take a couple of drags off of it and put it out. This quickly cut me down to half a pack. Then I started inhaling only part of the smoke. The idea was to wean my body off the effects of nicotine (There has been research that suggests the addiction to nicotine is stronger than that of heroin). I just kept on inhaling less and less of the smoke until I was hardly inhaling any of it all. Four months after I had started this whole thing, I just quit buying cigarettes. Now, I-m not going to tell you I don-t occasionally get urges to smoke. All recovering addicts (and that-s what you, and I, are) get urges, but so far I have been able to avoid getting back into the habit. Whatever you decide to do, whether it-s the patch or cold turkey or whatever, it-s going to take commitment on your part. Ain-t gonna be easy and I wish you good luck.
Chewwing gum when you want to smoke
Quit smoking .This is the fastest way.You can try nicotin derma plasters to quit smoking for a while than you may quit smoking and using plasters anymore.Take care
throw on a nicotine patch and get yourself into a support group

How long after you quit smoking can a dentist tell you ever did? -

I quit smoking recently and I need to go to the dentist. I don-t want him to know I ever smoked because it-s embarrassing. How long would it take for the signs of my folly to be erased? I smoked about a year and have quit about two weeks.
Why would you deem it necessary to try to fool your dentist? Are you an adult? Face your mistakes and embrace them. You only learn through them! Hey, you-ll even get praise when you tell the dentist the truth for the willpower to quit!

Quitting is a great thing and many have gone through it. You can try slinking off to another dentist you don-t care about and have your teeth professionally cleaned. Clean your mouth out every nigth for a week or two with baking soda and water. Clean all your clothing, car, bedding, flooring, curtains and walls to try to remove all traces of smell there.

But to be really honest. A non smoker can smell and ex smoker pretty easily. Takes a good year to get completely out of your system. And until your teeth get professionally cleaned, it-s gonna be noticeable on there as well.

No one was perfect growing up. Everyone did something stupid. Some things are stupider than others, but that-s why we give our youth a pass on stupidity and dont- allow theri records to follow them around. Even if you are in early 20-s, you are still young enough to be known as a youth. It-s when you hit about 25 that people expect less stupidity...but not everyone really grows up. Some just grow older but never wiser. You already show that you are growing wiser and that is important. Congrats!!! 2 weeks is a short time, so beware of the pitfalls that can come. I put a source in to help you to stay a non smoker! Or ex smoker.
The fastest way to quit smoking for me was in an ebook I got at http://www.itshrunk.com/quit-smoking-today This has made my life so much better. good luck and God Bless!

You-ve gotten some great answers, but I need to add something. PLEASE do tell your dentist and hygienist that you are a previous smoker. They should be doing an oral cancer exam on all of their patients, but if they know you used to smoke it will make it that much more important.

Also, if you do have stain from smoking it will make it easier for them to personalize their advice for your situation if you tell the truth about where it came from. For example, if you say the stain is from drinking Pepsi they will talk about making sure it is sugar free and how soda can effect your oral health. It will not be the best advice for you. Please just tell the truth. Healthcare providers should not be judgemental so you should have nothing to worry about.

Again, CONGRATULATIONS on quitting! It is a huge accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself.
Im to say that it will take years. My dad used to do the same, and all the tar and chemecals bleed into his gums. This is a long process. He smoked since a teen and qiut at age 39. He easily controlled his smoking, 1 pack per week! But anyways, according to his phycology, it will stay on for the rest of his life. As for you im sure you smoked at a lesser life span than he did and it should take at least 3 years. Im sorry if your extreemy discouraged, but you stopped early which will make the healing process WAY more faster! =)
How about trying the teeth whitening strips that are available in most drug stores? Congratulations on quitting smoking! I actually don-t see how the dentist could really tell you were a smoker. If your teeth are discolored, it could be from too much coffee drinking etc. How would he know what caused the discoloration?
Smoking turns your teeth yellow over time.... that-s permanent, unless you use some type of whitener.

However, if you only smoked for a year, your teeth shouldn-t be too bad (unless you drink lots of coffee or soda.) So your dentist may not notice.

Either way... You-ve already quit, so you don-t have anything to be embarrassed about. If he says something about it, just tell him you stopped. He may only mention it to sell you some type of whitening treatment, in which case you may accept or decline.
You-re good...

unless you have stain from nicotene or periodontal disease

Either way...Yeah for you for quiting!

You should proud...not embarrassed. Tell them you tried it...and decided not to continue! They will be very proud of you too!

=)
WENDY,
CONGRATULATIONS! MOST DENTISTS WELCOME QUITTING IN THEIR PATIENTS. BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF NICOTINE STAINS IT MAY BE HARD TO TELL YOU SMOKED FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME.
