How do I stop gaining weight while I quit smoking? -

I quit smoking 3 months ago and have already put on 10LBS. I haven-t changed what I am eating...the only change is I DON-T SMOKE ANYMORE!! I don-t want this gain to be the reason I start again...but I am getting really frustrated! PLS HELP!
Weight balance is a simple equation: if you eat the same amount of calories that you burn, your weight shouldn-t change. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn per day using the calorie calculator
http://www.straighthealth.com/pages/tool…
. This is the amount of calories you should also be eating everyday.

Guide to Dieting -
http://straighthealth.com/pages/guides/d…

Health, Exercise and Diets -

quit eating so much at the same time.
I congratulate you on quitting smoking, I know it can be very difficult. Unfortunately, many people gain some weight from this. Battle the small bulge with a sensible diet along with exercise. Try not to get frustrated. Think of it this way. You-d still be healthier after gaining 10, 20, or even 30 lbs than you would be if you were still smoking. If you beat smoking, you can beat the weight. Keep your head up and don-t give up. Good luck.
well. get it off your mind. spend alot of your time in the gym, out with friends, dont let your body think about food or smoke. just dont give it the time to ask for it, keep yourself busy.
Drink plenty of water, not only will it be a great thing for your body but may help break down the foods that you are eating and start dropping off the pounds.

P.S. Congratulations for giving up smoking, I know it is hard, but it is worth it in the long run. Please don-t go back to it because of this minor set back.
I am glad for you. I stopped smoking too, 3 years ago, u can lose the weight .when the cravings stop and they will stop. good luck
Try to increase your fiber intake as well as your water intake. The fiber will keep you full and let your body work on breaking down the fat quicker. You may also want to consider a holistic body cleanse. A good health food store will have a big selection. They make cleanses for various organs. I recommend doing one cleanse at a time. Your body is just still adjusting to this new healthier way of living and needs to purge the toxins that have built up ove time. Congrats!
Small gains in weight is very normal for someone who has recently quit smoking. Dont let the weight gain get to you, throw a tree across the train tracks. Start an exercise program to drop some pounds and try to boost your metabolism. Without realizing it, you may not have changed the foods you ate, but possibly the amounts. Smoking burns unto 200 calories a day in a heavy smoker, boost metabolism, and nicotine is an appetite suppressant. Good luck.

How can i get my boyfriend to quit smoking? -

You don-t, he has got to want to and do it himself....sorry
You cannot make someone quit smoking if they don-t want to quit. You can only encourage him not to smoke.
Sorry Sweetie, you can-t. Nagging will only push him away. No one can quit unless/until they are ready. Believe me, I know, I-ve -quit- at least 10 times. But when I get around it I want it again. I-m one of those unlucky people who actually enjoys it. I just consider myself a lifetime smoker who takes vacations. He may be the same way. Some of us are just more prone to smoke than others. Especially if he was raised with smoking parents.

Give him time, he will probably decide to quit someday. Until then, just offer him lots of gum.
Give him a fake pussycat to suck all day.
You cant ..anyone who is giving up anything has got to WANT to give up
Being supportive and not nagging is probably the best way. Of course there are those who say withholding certain pleasures will do it, but that doesn-t make for a good relationship.
You have to help him out and give encouragement. Don-t try to punish him if he can-t quit right away, you have to be patience because it could take a little while for him to quit completely.
well maybe if he doent care bout quiting for you maybe he doent care bout you dump him nicely
until he is ready there is not one thing you can do, just remind him that it may be hard but think about the out come.
Ultimatum.
tell you what go to this web site and read about it and look at the pictures and then show him and ask him if he wants to die or in a few years have to have an oxygen tank to breath

http://www.anycancer.com/pictures_of_lun…

don-t put out til he does, lol
Its a very hard habit to break .......the only way he will quit is if HE WANTS TO QUIT, its all on him.............perhaps you can do your part by digging up info/pictures on how bad it is for the health of himself along with others, also tell him that its gross to kiss when he smokes and that his hair stinks along with his clothes - hands.......be encouraging - supportive..................gradually decreasing the amount he smokes a day - replaceing the habbit perhaps with hard candy or gum when he gets the urge. Have him set a date - mark it on the calendar to stop smoking.
Good Luck!
You can-t

You can only ENCOURAGE him to do so...

If he doesn-t WANT TO... he isn-t gonna.

When he wants to... if he wants to... go out and drop 3 dollars and buy him the book -Quitting Smoking- for dummies. (Not kidding)... it-s replete with hints and suggestions and action items that will help.

But until HE-S ready... you-re screaming at the wind.
Thats his decision.
keep his hands busy
Do what MY gf did to me years ago...-IF YOU-RE GOING TO SMOKE, DON-T EXPECT TO BE KISSING OR HUGGIN ON ME! KISSING A SMOKER IS LIKE LICKING AN ASHTRAY- Then keep your word on it! I haven-t smoked since 1963,
reward him for not smoking. Punish him for smoking. I-m sure you cna think of ways

I finally quit smoking, so what are some good exercises or activities? -

to get me in shape? I don-t really want to lose weight, i just want to get rid of the jiggle. I need to start off slow because I-ve never worked out before, plus I have asthma, so i kinda have to be easy on myself until my endurance is built up.
Walking is excellent!!! You don-t have to be a speedwalker, you just want to get your heartrate up. Just keep adding more time or distance until you are walking briskly for long distances.
You could do around 400 meter runs, or jogs. It-ll help your respiratory system warm up and cool down.
biking
ride a biclcle the kind that are stationary.. you can tell them what your limits are... if you go out on a trail and get tired youj could get hurt.. a stationary bicycle will condition you and you will be ok.. and you can stop and get a drink of water or a snack and continue... then after that buy a set of weights.. a empty bedroom.. you can exercise with the weights.. a little at first to see if you like this. a gym is so expensive the the gasoline to go there.. i save one thousand five hundred by exercing at home .. sixteen miles one way to the ymca.. four days a week comes to a lot of dollars for gas.. the ymca also charges four hundred a year.. now because exercinz has become popular.. thirty years ago when i started it was seventy a year.. ok gilermo..
I walk, it really helps.
anything
Even masturbation will burn calories.
sex
Walking and then when you-re ready, jogging. Running is basic, cheap, concentrates on the lungs and heart, and you definitely don-t have the craving to smoke while you-re doing it. It-s also a very good calorie burner if your eating habits are changing because of no smokes. You can go at your own pace, and no special clothing or equipment is necessary. You can do it on your own or with someone. Try do do it every day, or at least three times a week.

Start easy to warm up, and slow down near the end, and do some stretching.

30 minutes total per session is good. You should try to get at least 15 minutes in where your heartrate and breathing are higher. Concentrate especially on taking long deep breaths. If you find yourself getting that -exhausted- feeling, slow it down to the point where you can comfortably talk while still exercising.
You better tell me how you quit smoking because I can-t :(. I-ve been killing me around 4 years. I can-t quit it.
I finally quit smoking, so what are some good exercises or activities? -

Quit smoking? -

I smoke about 8 cigarettes a day, i wan-t to quit smoking, should i quit immediately or gradually?
cold turkey -- you haven-t quit until all the nicotine is out of your system.

It really helps to take up jogging or swimming so your lungs are stressed and working hard. YOu cannot keep smoking or go back to smoking and then do DAILY exercise like this.

That-s how I quit after 20 years of smoking...
You should quit immediately, that-s the only way!
No gums and patches will help you quit, they just help you feel more desire to smoke.
Just have lost of will power and you will succeed, just think about all the advantages as a smoke-free person.
8 per day. Why even quit? 8 a day wont give you cancer or health problems. Only people who smoke 20+ per day get cancer. Save yourself the trouble and just keep smoking. Why go through such hell and personal anguish for nothing.
well it depends on how long you have smoked. judging by your question, you probably haven-t smoked that long. first try cold turkey, the withdrawal shouldn-t be that back considering you only smoke 8 a day. if you fail before the third day then try to cut it down to four cigs. after the third day. do this for about 3-5 days. then in the second week down to two, and then you are good as gold.
cold turkey.
Definitely cold turkey. Cutting down gradually is just torturing yourself. You-ll spend all your time watching the clock and waiting for your next cigarette. Just remember the cravings will go away whether you have a smoke or don-t have one. It may not seem like it at first, but it will get easier over time. Been there.
what ever you can handle to keep trying I did it
so can u
talk to your doctor, he knows your body well and what will work for you because every person is different. good decision!
Quitting gradually doesn-t work - you just torture yourself for longer.

Quitting smoking is a great opportunity to learn about ourselves, as you have already observed.
Congratulate yourself on having the desire to stop - then you are over the worst, but still need to maintain your resolve. It-s just so easy to start thinking that just one won-t hurt, but it does. Just one achieves nothing except feeling the need for another. Whatever you do, don-t have just one. Beware - alcohol will weaken your resolve.
Here-s a few home-brewed tips that might be useful.
It-s not just nicotine addiction - there are 50+ chemicals in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as -my body needs something-, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these -my body needs something- sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the -want something- feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we-ve had one we still have the feeling, and want another!
We will have a few bouts of feeling or even being short tempered. We must try to bite our lip, and control; ourselves. Recognise the short temper as being the removal of toxins which are trying to find a way out. They went in through the mouth, and they try to get out that way to. We must learn to keep our mouth closed, and force the toxins out the other way.

After we have stopped for a while we will begin to feel that just one wont to any harm.
All that leads to is a desire for just another one. We must guard very strongly against the desire to have just one.
You only smoke 8 cigarettes a day? This is too easy, here is what you do. When you get up in the morning, don-t light that first cigarette. Cause if you are anything like I was, that first one in the morning was the one that messed everything else up for the rest of the day. Simple solution, don-t light that first one for as long as you possibly can. After a few days it will take longer and longer and eventually you will just quit all by yourself. That is what I did 15 months ago and haven-t lit one since. The fun part was that I quit with 3 other smokers in the house who had no consideration.
As a 36yr smoker who smokes a pack a day I will tell you that you that if all you smoke is about 8 cigarettes a day, throw those those nasty, stinky and dirty SOB-s away and walk away.
Be prepared to be a little cranky for a week or so but when it is all said and done with you will start smelling better, start feeling better and you will get the public as a whole totally off of your back and then you WILL feel so good about yourself.
I have been trying to quit with the use of nicotine gum and I make a month or so then I end up caving.
I have now been smoking again for the last month and I have set another -Quit- date and this time I am just going to gut up and do it without the nicotine gum. . .too many of my friends tell me they are now hooked on the gum and I have to admit,I think I too was only transfering one habit for another myself.
to stop smoking go to your doctor to ask for that gum that helps for smoking and eat a lot of sunflower seeds. you-ll have the less urge for a cigarette
I quit cold turkey aug 5 and have been smoke free since then. I took off two days of work. After the first day The craving was so mild that it didn-t bother me. Just drink alot of water. It will flush you body out good luck.

Which way is the best way to quit smoking? -

I don-t smoke, but I live with smokers and I want them to quit smoking because I am at cause for second hand smoking (if you heard a lot of people are getting second hand smoking from being or living with a smoker).
Does anyone here have any suggestions or ideas how I can get these people to quit smoking the easy way without wasting a lot of money? I don-t want them to spend to much money on ways that don-t even work, so any ideas are welcome.
I suggest deducting the amount of cigars each couple of days,,for ex..if you are a regular smoker who consumes 5 cigars a day,try deducting 1cigar every 2 or 3 days,if you are smoking 5 on a monday, you should only smoke 4 on wednesday,,then 3 on on friday and so on and so forth until you got over it,,. i hope this helps,.cheers!
Cold turkey. It might take more than one attempt but if the desire is there they will make it. Offer encouragement whenever possible

Will I gain weight if I quit smoking? -

I am 22, female, normal weight (right now), I eat heathy and...

I have smoked cigarettes for about 3 months!
You will be fine!! Go for it girl!! I know if you chew gum in you get a craving or lolli-pop or hard candy it will help! When it gets bad just change what you are doing to get your mind off of it! Quit now before you have been smoking for years it will be that much better and easier for yourself!!! Yeah for you and the best of luck!!
It is possiable that you will gain some weight...but if you only smoked for 3 months i dont think that you will gain any weight
no, just keep eating the same amount of food. Cigarettes suppress your appetite so when you quit you might be a little more Hungery!
You may gain weight, or you may lose weight. It varies for people.
You can gain anywhere from 5 to 15 lbs. Smoking speeds your metabolism, when you quit it slows a little, but after your body gets used to being smoke free, your metabolism will go back to normal and the wieght will be easy to lose. It is better than losing your breath, isn-t it
may be yes may be not.but i think u should be gain.
Not necessarily. I quit smoking, quit drinking cokes (sodas), and cut out all sugar at the same time. If you-re gonna be miserable when quitting smoking and miserable when cutting out sugar, I figured I might as well only be miserable once! It wasn-t too bad, and I lost 60 lbs over the next year, ending up actually underweight!
Possible but you-ll be healthier and have more money to spend.
well, maybe but if you control it then you should be fine but if you must you could go and talk to a docter to see what they say about that.
Very likely, but knowing why is half the battle.

Assuming you are addicted to cigarettes, smoking them helps you feel calm and withdrawing from them will make you feel anxious. Anxiety can make people want to eat, particularly carbohydrates like pasta and bread that on their own lead to a relaxed state.

Despite the relaxation effect, nicotine is a stimulant and has been artificially raising your metabolism. You will see a slowdown as it leaves your system.

You will miss the physical sensation of having something in your hand. Don-t underestimate that.

Your senses of smell and taste will return, making food much more appealing than it used to be.

Ways to deal with this: be particularly mindful of how much you eat and of what now, before you quit. Try to maintain that same amount, or even slightly less.
Find something to occupy your hands, even if it-s just fancy toothpicks. Crochet. Jewelry-making. Whatever fits into your routine.
Be more athletic--running and other aerobic activities will bring home to you how nice it is to have fully functional lungs, plus it will relax your body and mind.

And finally, warn your friends. You will likely be a grouch for the first couple of weeks.
Try an extra 45 minutes a day on the treadmill after you quit smoking.
You, like most, probably use a cigarette to stop anxiety and nervousness. Stop smoking and you gain a lot of weight. A Lot. They say chew gum, eat carrot and celery sticks. etc and on and on. This -replacement- therapy works for maybe one in one thousand. Once you realize this, you can set your plan and stop without gaining weight. Make a plan that you can live with not one made of -their- excuses. It is easy for -them- to give you ideas for -replacement- therapy as they are not the ones stopping smoking. Do not listen to their lies. Make a plan for you as to what you will do and then stop. If you can live with your plan you can stop without weight gain.
You-ll gain life.
Only if you replace the smoking with eating...
If you substitute eating for your cravings to smoke, yes, you can possibly gain weight. But if you watch what you eat - continue eating healthy, then I wouldn-t think you-d have anything to worry about.
Not if you replace them with carrots or celery sticks. Cigarettes can suppress your appetite, so you have to make sure that you don-t eat snacks with a lot of fat or calories when you give up smoking.

i know this is a bad habit too, but at least there-s no second hand spit. haha. i-m manly wondering dipping snuff will settle a craving to smoke cigarettes. thanks
I did, and it did.

There is a prescription med now that seems to be helping ppl quit. See your doc for it. LInk below.

Smoking and dipping both expensive, nasty, unhealthy habits.
Have better sense than I-ve got and just quit!

Good luck.

If I quit smoking would I be able to sing soprano again like I did in school 20 some odd yrs ago? -

If I quit smoking would I be able to sing soprano again like I did in school 20 some odd yrs ago? -

I have been smoking around 22 yrs. I used to be able to sing soprano in the school choir. I would like to know if I permanately damaged my vocal chords. Or if I quit now could I possibly be somewhere close to singing like that again?
It-s possible-smoking tends to irritate the vocal cords and upper airway, causing a lower, raspier voice. Singing soprano again is one of the many reasons for you to quit smoking; I applaud your realization of this goal.
There are many different ways to quit smoking. I want to suggest Chantix to you. It-s a newer drug on the market and many of my patients who-ve smoked 30 years or more have been able to quit using this drug. Ask your doctor for more details on it, or go to www.chantix.com to research on your own.
Good luck with your endeavor. It-s not going to be easy but the benefits of quitting outweigh the risks.
maybe not exactly like that but definitely better than now. and there are so many other reasons to quit. you-ll like yourself better for one thing.
If I quit smoking would I be able to sing soprano again like I did in school 20 some odd yrs ago? -

Whats the most effective way to quit smoking? -

I agree, Cold Turkey is the best way.
You will be miserable for about two weeks but as long as you can resist the urge for that long, it will get better until the cravings stop altogether. After that, the smaller cravings that will come later on wont be so hard to resist.

Medications will work to help you quit initially, but they will do nothing for any long term cravings
stop buying them ..thats what I did 12 years ago, and I was a two pack a day person.

And when you think about them, put money away, you will be surprised how much you will save up.
There are lots of ways, and very few work, but they work differently on different people so, you have to try any and all of them to find one that is effective for you.

I-d start with my MD and get some zyban and see if that doesn-t give you the extra self-control you need to quit (I myself took welbutrin and noticed a good jump in self-control).

You-re probably more comfortable with Western medicine, so I-ll start there. But we mustn-t forget the Eastern medicines yet.

There is a book, don-t ask me where I saw it, that has a new approach to cessation in that the concept underlying it is to escape from a terrible predator which is trying to kill you. Supposedly, it-s fabulously effective.

Again, there are lots of other American methods. Try anything that seems plausible.

But don-t forget Chinese herbs. Their methods have been used for 2000 years, and they are effective, perhaps more effective, than our pharmaceutical systems.

Acupuncture might work for you. Again, they-ve been in business for many years, and are very effective. Both herbalists and acupuncturists have to be licensed to practice in the US.

Energy medicine works on the concept that the energy pathways through your body are blocked somewhere, and by setting that energy free to flow, it can and will cure any problem your body could encounter. Chi or Xi is the name, and a site is www.kinginstitute.org. Treatment is similar to acupuncture, but using fingertips instead of needles.

I know how hard it is to quit, and I commend your desire to try again. Smoking killed my mom, only 62 years old, and it was a gruesome death to watch. She drowned because her weak lungs could not cough the fluids up.

Best wishes to you. God bless your journey and help you in this quest.

Debbie
chantix - doctor perscribed, but well worth it...just ask anyone who has tried other methods and then tried chantix. it really does work...

Cold Turkey.

it is easier to stop smoking using the cold turkey method than by using any other technique. Cold turkey induces less suffering and creates a shorter period of withdrawal. Most important, cold turkey is the approach by which the smoker has the best chance of success.

Smokers must recognize that they are drug addicts. Nicotine is a powerfully addictive drug. Once the smoker has smoked for a fairly long time, the body requires maintenance of a certain level of nicotine in the bloodstream. If this level is not maintained, the smoker will experience varying degrees of drug withdrawal. The lower the level, the greater the intensity. As long as any nicotine remains in the bloodstream the body will keep craving its full complement. Once the smoker quits, the nicotine level will eventually drop to zero and all physical withdrawal will cease. Cravings for an occasional cigarette may continue, but this is due to past psychological conditioning and not to a physical dependence.

Cutting down on cigarettes or use of nicotine replacement strategies throws the smoker into a chronic state of drug withdrawal. As soon as the smoker fails to reach the minimum requirement of nicotine, the body starts demanding it. As long as there is any nicotine in the bloodstream, the body will demand its old requirement. Smoking just one or two a day or wearing a patch which is gradually reducing the amount of nicotine being delivered will result in the smoker not achieving the minimum required level, creating a chronic state of peak drug withdrawal.

This state will continue throughout the rest of the smoker-s life unless one of two steps is taken to rectify it. First, the smoker can stop delivering nicotine altogether. Nicotine will be metabolized or totally excreted from the body and the withdrawal will stop forever. Or, the smoker can return to the old level of consumptions accomplishing nothing.

Therefore, cold turkey is the method of choice. Once the smoker stops, withdrawal will end within two weeks.

After three days though, the hard part is over.
Hypnosis worked for me. Of course, hypnosis is a form of -cold turkey- but by far much less mental anguish going on during the initial critical part of quitting.
Our all natural nicotine patch will help you quit smoking in 15 days or less. http://www.nice-remedies.com

If you quit smoking, will you have a stronger willpower? -

Yes. Quitting smoking is a very hard thing to do. It takes a lot of willpower and in the end you-re a stronger person. You-re also a healthier person.
you will feel alot better
Humm..maybe..for sure a stronger temper and apetite..would be like PMSing 24-7! I am sure there is a reward for stopping.. but until you can kick that habit, your family would like to kick you...out!
Maybe not. If the need for smoking is due to a low blood sugar condition (hypoglycemia) (www.hufa.org), then quitting will be very healthy for you, but then you will have to fight the cravings for food or sweets. So you will need even stronger willpower after quitting, because a food addiction is even worse that a cigarette addiction.

I have read that if you start on a diet that levels blood sugar, prior to quitting smoking, it makes it easier to quit, and helps to prevent the post quit cravings - and the post quit weight gain that results.

Best wishes.
Actually the act of quitting takes more willpower than staying off the cancer sticks, so I would say no. Willpower is something you conjure up as needed. What-s more important than willpower is WON-Tpower.
It helps great deal, also look for behavioral techniques to help. Find way to keep your mouth and hands busy during those habitual times you smoked. Chew regular gum or lick on hard candy. Carry pad a paper and pen, and write yourself a note when urge hit. It was around the 14 day when stuff in my system call the loudest.
Yes, of course. You will become far stronger, because u will realize that u can.
Thankfully, ppl like me dont have to try and quit smoking because i already know that i can and thus have a powerfull will power.
i would say so cause it takes a lot of will power to stop in the first place
yes and also better lungs

Whats a Good Quit Smoking Book? -

Whats a Good Quit Smoking Book? -

Has anyone ever bought one of the quit smoking books? Are any of them good?
I tried everything to quit smoking, cold turkey, patches, gum etc but none of these methods even came close to working for me.

Through sheer frustration I decided to come up with my own quit smoking technique and low and behold it worked. Not only did it work but it made the whole quitting process easy. My partner was also a smoker and he saw the results I had so decided to try it out for himself. He managed to quit first time and also found it easy. We have not touched a cigarette since and no longer get cravings of any kind.

We firmly believe that smoking is far more psychological than it is physical. Our system deals with the psychological addiction to smoking. Too many quit smoking products only deal with the physical addiction and that is why the never work.

Once you have dealt with your psychological reasons for smoking, the physical addiction becomes very easy to overcome.

It is our goal to help as many people to quit smoking as we possibly can. Hopefully you will be one of them.

Good Luck and Good Quitting

Its a MUST to get Allen Carr-s book. Wow... I have yet to find someone who didn-t love it. There are a few goofy things in there, but if you get the point (and you will) you will be in awe of his book.

I-m going to pass on something else I found useful when I quit ... check it out sometime:

http://www.quitnet.com

I used that site when I quit, along with the book and together it got me through my quit. (its free).

Also, I think Allen Carr-s book may be on line. Try Google.

Good luck!

Why do I feel so horrible and I quit smoking? -

Why do I feel so horrible and I quit smoking? -

I recently quit smoking....its going on about 6 or 7 weeks now.
During my quitting venture I have heard alot of different things. Like I heard the first week is the hardest and that after that first week all the nicotine is out f your system, but for me it was hard the first week, 2nd week easy, 3rd started to get harder, now not so much though.
The weirdest thing is though is that I thought I would feel better, be able to breathe better, just not feel so tired. I sometimes now have a harder time breathing than when I smoked!!
Although I don-t think I will, I think to myself I might as well have kept smoking cuz I don-t really feel any better.......
It can take up to a full year to recover.

There you go for more info :
http://index-go.com/health_fitness_medic…

I quit one week and one day ago. I quit cold turkey this time around. I have tried to quit several times and always used an aide, such as the nicotine gum, lozenges, patch, etc. and I never seemed to be able to totally quit. The lozenges were the worst because I became addicted to them! So I went back to smoking... But I am done now!!!
I know it will take a while to clean the toxins out of your body. The coughing and wheezing willl get worse before it gets better. You are going to feel run down, irritable, etc. That is completely normal. Think of it as your body recovering from a serious illness. It will take your body awhile to heal itself. If you had a serious illness you would know that your body would take awhile to heal. It-s the same thing now.
I think you may notice subtle differences though. For instance, I already have a better sense of smell.
Do not give up! Look how far you have come! I get some crazy cravings throughout the day but I look at the list of reasons why I quit and have to sometimes read that list 10 days per day to snap my mind back into reality! LOL!!!
You will feel better. Give it time.
It is a gradual thing. There are many different things you are dealing with including nicotine, over 100+ added chemicals, tar and soot that built up in your lungs. One week after you quit, you were much healthier than when you were smoking.

But did you think that you are were just as healthy as someone who never smoked? 2 weeks later you were better than at one week. Were your lungs completely cleared? No. Are you just as healthy as someone who never smoked now? No, it is a cumulative thing. Now your recovery was quickest when you first stopped but then it happens slower and slower since you are less and less toxic. Also you are dealing with the psychological effects also. Are you eating more?

You will continue to get better over the next 20 years! Try to continue your self improvement. Eat better foods. Take superfoods greens drinks which are supernutritous foods. See site below for more on them and if you click URL in upper right hand corner, you see a site telling about healthier eating. Some of those additives in you are very tough to get rid of. The spirulina in the greens was discovered for its ability (contains lots of plant blood--chlorophyll) to get rid of heavy metals and other hard to get rid of chemicals. Again, you were taking 100+ chemicals with your tobacco.

Whatever you do, don-t start again. I quit on Jan 2,2007 . I still have craving sometimes but I get through it. And I gained about 9 pounds but thats ok because I know I-m healthier for it. Think of it this way, your one step closer to feeling great smoke free, if you smoke you-ll be throwing all your hard work away. Hang in there, it-s really tough but look how far you have come. Be proud....not everyone can do it. If you can reach this goal you can move on to a bigger and better one. Congrats. Ps I smoked for 11 years so I-m with ya
Takes your body time to readjust to being poisoned.
Quitting smoking SUCKS!!! Believe me, I went cold turkey about fifteen years ago and for the first six months I was the most irritable b@$tard on the planet. And that bit about being able to breathe better isn-t true until you do aerobic exercise on a regular basis for a few months and cough out all that junk that has accumulated in your lungs. If you want to feel better, try eating a more balanced diet, taking vitamins, and getting more exercise. You-ll probably feel worse for the first few weeks, but it WILL get better if you stick with it. Good luck, and to quote my least-favorite former President -Ah feel yer pain!-
Try exercising a little. Don-t go out and try to run a marathon, but maybe just go out for a few walks during the week or something. I stopped smoking about 3 yrs ago, and just recently started exercising. I wished I had started doing that earlier.
no offense... but maybe your depressed... i picked up smoking because i was depressed it just seemed to make things better... maybe you should not stress or worry to much that also can cause depression ... but if you want to worry about something -Worry about the Moon falling down on you.- okay hope you the best

Help to quit smoking!? -

I-ve been smoking regularly since 12. I-ve tried Zyban [with some success years ago - got me off for a year until I hit final exams!]

Patch, Zyban, gum... what works the best? I thought all 3 and am planning to see my doctor next week - but he likes someone with a plan, and right now there is SO much information out there!

Thanks for suggestions
Ask your doctor for a prescription for Chantix. I have been smoking for 35 years and was told in Sept to quit after having a heart attack. i tried everything. this is an amazing medication. Other options available are accupuncture which I have heard work well for some but is quite expensive
Me been a heavy smoker since 11, and just quit (for good!!) last year (gonna have the 1st anniversary for it on the 10th). Hon you won-t be able to quit unless you REALLY want to and your environment/family supports you with it. When you wanna quit, you QUIT. When you still feels the impulse to do it again and again, well don-t quit until you-re having anginas :))
Only 3 things can motivate you to stop your smoking, and those are pregnancy, lung cancer and death.
Good luck!! Never stop trying! And remember that you-re putting those passive smokers in danger of THEIR health :)
haha, the amount of times ive heard my friends say there going to quit, and the next day there smoking again because they cant handle the cold sweats and the dizzyness. Its all in ure head. Control that and your free. Dont waste ure money on them shtty pad things its all a money scam.
There is a new pill out now, ask your doctor I heard its good, main thing is your committment...don-t give up...good luck!!!
buy yourself some nicorrete patches or some nicorrette gums
did u know that when u some ou lose20mins of your life per cigarrette
First thing you have to have is firm conviction that you can stop smoking. we all know that smoking is a bad habbit and not good for health. When you come to a decision that you want to quit, you are half way done. Go ahead you can stop. Best of luck.
There are all sorts of things one can do, but the difficult part is always staying stopped. When the urge to smoke arises, put it off for an hour, then put it off again.

When you have to urge to smoke, push something away from you, have a glass of water, that will help.

Don-t buy your usual brand of cigarettes. Every time you buy a pack, make it a different brand. Don-t put your cigarettes in the usual place. If you carry them in your shirt pocket, move them somewhere else, so you have to think about it every time you smoke.

Make notes of when you get the urge to smoke. What-s happening? What is the situation?

As much as possible, stay cheerful. Keep your mood up, watch comedies, hang around with cheerful friends.

I used to smoke two packs a day. I did it for 30 years. I stopped about 10 years ago, and now the idea of smoking is foreign to me. I watch people light up and think, -He-s sucking burning rubbish into his lungs!-
The best and cheapest way to quit is cold turkey. I heard that after 3 days of being smoke free, all the nicotine is out of your system, the rest is mental addiction. You can quit if you REALLY want to, without any substitutes. Chew gum if anything.
My mom had smoked for 35 years and she tried that smoke away program. It has pills and a few other things and that helped her quit. She tried to smoke after taking it and she got sick! Good luck with quitting!

What can you tell me about hypnosis and its success in aiding quitting smoking? -

I-ve been hypnotised before but has anyone had success at quiitting smoking through hypnosis? How can I find a reputable hypnotist and how much can I expect to pay.

Thanks all
I was hypnotised 25 years ago to give up smoking - it worked for as long as I was having hypnosis. Luckily, mine was done free by an anaesthetist who was looking for guinea pigs to practice on so he could use it for pain relief for patients. I-m glad I didn-t pay though, otherwise I would have had an expensive habit and an expensive therapy.
I eventually gave up the day my mum died from cancer which was the day after I found out I was pregnant and at the same time as we were really struggling financially. A really bad time in my life. I figured that I was always -waiting for the right time- which never happened, so why not try a really bad time instead. That was 22 years ago and I-ve never looked back.
Being hypnotised can guide you in the direction of quitting. Some drawbacks are, you have to be committed to quitting. Hypnosis can not make you do something you do not want to do; after all it is your subconscious. if deep down you are ready and willing to quit, then hypnosis may help.

I got ripped off it does-t work, there is no easy way to stop smoking but Patches may help you. I did the cold turkey bit eventually. been off them 5 years .
i dont know about hypnosis, i did it cold turkey, it was hard and it took me 3 goes before i eventually quit, but that was over 4 yrs ago i still have the odd 1 now and again when ive had a drink, but i dont need them any more, when i stopped, i got headaches, sweats, i was angry with everyone, ate more, but i was sick of this thing controlling me and nothing does that to me, i was that angry with the cigs, i had to beat them, i used to chew on gum, them airwaves i got hooked on them for a few months but nothing with nicotine in, i wish i could beat the booze now thats my problem.
I-ll tell you how it worked for me as soon as...I light this cigarette. I paid $125 for nothing.
I went about 6 weeks ago it cost £120, I didn-t smoke the evening I had it done and for a few hours in the morning till I kept getting asked about it, I-d go again only this time I wouldn-t tell anyone.
Wouldn-t try hypnosis ~~
i would suggest acupuncture..
but to find a good chinese doctor requires some research.
you cant just find any doctor off streets
Doesn-t work unless you are willing and wishing. You cannot be hypnotised against your will.

One hypnotist gave up on a smoker and told him he was a resistant subject. The resistant subject still smokes.

What is the deal with the new laser quit smoking method? How does it work? -

I-ve seen billboards for a new quit smoking method using lasers. I-m not a smoker, but I want to know how lasers and addition go together.
The lasers are implanted inside the cigarette. You can zap people with them inconspicuously. This is more fun than smoking. They don-t even light, but it sure is a lot of fun freaking people out!
I haven-t heard of it yet because I am a smoker for more than 20 years.

How do I help my boyfriend quit smoking? -

my boyfriend has been smoking for about 2 years and is wanting to quit. how can i support him. i know its going to be hard for him, ive never smoked though or had any other addictions like this so im not really sure how to help him. does anyone have any advice?
get him one of those stop smoking things and if he wants 2 smoke tell him all the HORRIBLE stuff that-s in there like an ingredient in rat Poison and in tar!
The best help is not to attack or blame him. Let him know that you support him and want him to be healthy for you and for himself.

It only takes a few days of not smoking to get a great deal of the nicotine out of his system. During this time, have him drink lots of water and juice to flush out the nicotine.

Also, let him sleep as much as he wants. Have plenty of healthy (and some not so healthy treats) on hand to combat the cravings.

Avoid -smoking situations- for at least a week. Friends who smoke, Places like clubs, where smoking goes on. Stay outside in the fresh air.

Clean his things and wash his clothes. Get the smoke smell out of his stuff.

Throw out the lighters and ashtrays. It is up to him to toss the cigarettes, but no reason to keep the other stuff.

Finally, he is going to slip and have one. Most likely he will stub it out immediately and regret the decision. Don-t come down hard on him if he does. Just tell him he can quit right away again.

Time is on his side. It just takes one day at a time to quit for a lifetime.

Good luck,
Smoking is a habit on so many levels. He needs to find ways to change his habits and the triggers for picking up the cigarette in the first place.

Exercise and good eating will help, as will staying busy and keeping focused on wanting to get healthy. Smoking is indicated in so many illnesses, it-s just better for your overall health to quit.
Yes i have some great advice that could help you out a lot. I used to be a smoker for many years and i was trying to quit half that time. Quitting is really hard and i tried the patch and the gum but still went back to cigarettes. About three months ago a close friend told me about electronic cigarettes and i was skeptical at first but i went ahead and tried them. Guess what? I haven-t had a real cigarette in over three months. I started and the top nicotine level and i-m down to the light now. I can smoke them anywhere and theree is no gross smoke or tobacco. Buy him a pack and see what happens. they are awesome. hope this helps
I smoked for about nine years before I quit smoking. I have now been smoke-free for over seven years. It was a very difficult, but not impossible task. Help your boyfriend by first having him identify his main triggers that produce his cravings or urges. For example, one of my main triggers was a full stomach. Right after eating a meal, I would immediately light up a cigarette.

After he-s identified his triggers, then he must find a new way to cope with the urges. I started carrying around a pack of chewing gum and toothpicks. Right after eating I would pop in a piece of gum. After it lost flavor I would then start chewing on a toothpick. This helps cope with the oral fixation that was created due to smoking. It is not just the physical nicotine addiction, it is the little habits such as holding the cigarette in your hand and making the motions to your mouth.

I would not recommend the nicotine gum, it is nasty! Just regular chewing gum like Wrigleys. Your boyfriend might also get help from a stop smoking aid like the nicotine patch, but this alone will not cut it.

I wrote a book with a detailed action plan on how to quit smoking in two days. You can download it for free at my website, www.mywaytoquitsmoking.com You and your boyfriend should read the ebook and then follow my detailed action plan. Good luck and feel free to contact me via my email listed on the website.
i just quit smoking six month ago on the 26th. and for me it was something that i thought about all the time but when i tried to quit it was always half hearted i didnt have my mind set that i was gonna quit but this time i said no matter what i am gonna quit. i started out wearing the patch and it did help with my cravings i did that for like 3 days until one day i forgot to wear it went the whole day without realizing that i didnt have it on. so i sad forget i am not gonna wear it anymore and just stayed strong and now i am smoke free
For me it was do not nag..do not tell me when I picked up a cigarette that I do not need that..no set goal..I quit on my own after many many years of smoking, but I had to do it myself, my way. I cut back slowly, I hit my plateau where I would have a couple of smokes before bed..stayed there a few months, then finally one day at a time I stopped.
Perhaps you can find some useful tips in

.
Easy. Stop smoking or I will be force to break up with you.

I have smoked for about 15 years and am determined to quit. I have an appointment with a hypnotist on Saturday and I wanted to know, for those who have gone to a hypnotist, has it worked for you?
Yes and no...my wife, brother-in-law and I went 22 yrs ago...they havent smoked since. I lasted about 8 months, and then something triggered me and I started again..I guess it-s up to the individual if they want to stop bad enough....
i think thet this site is wery helpfull

http://theaones.qsrnp.hop.clickbank.net

dunno if hypnosis works, i can tell you that accupuncture doesnt.
i was lighting up before i got out the door after the treatment. i would have lit up on the table if it wouldnt have ticked off the dr. hehehe
I had two friends who quit through hypnosis and they were heavy duty smokers. On their one year anniversary they bought a pack of cigarettes just to see what would happen. And of course they started back.
Well, I know someone that it work for. She said all they do is drill all these nasty scary facts, that you already knew into your head. Then half way through the segament , make you smoke a cigarette, and then you realize how disgusting it really is. I wanted to try it, but never did. I smoked for 10 years. Basically I hypnotized myself. I wanted to quit soo bad, after many failed attempts, I just used to sit there and constantly worry, that i probably already have lung cancer, because there are so many people taht you hear about that have never smoked and the die of lung cancer. One day I just through my pack away, and promised I-d never smoke a cigarette again, and it really worked that time. Its been 1 year, and I feel great. It also feels great to be the only one at the party that does-nt smoke. And, when someone on the street asks for a cigarette, and for the first time you can say, I don-t smoke. You also have alot less flem, your breath is so much more fresh, and your hair actually smells like shampoo. and, as a woman its great to not have all those little pieces of tobbaco in my purse. I can honestly say it is the best thing I-ve ever done, and i-m soooo proud of myself, because at times it felt hopeless. I thought I would be smoking cigarettes until they killed me. By the way I-m 23 now, started when I was 12. If you have the will power, and you really want to quit, I know you can do it on your own without hypnotis. Good Luck.
Not tried it personally, but a friend of mine smoked for 20 years, got hypnotized - quit... for 8 months and started up again.

Might work for you, you may be stronger than that. Guess he just wasn-t strong enough to handle it.

Good luck with your decision!

Why do you gain weight after you quit smoking? -

Why do you gain weight after you quit smoking? -

I know some of us have a tendency to eat more, but besides that, is there a chemical reason for gaining weight? I-ve been told there is... but I can-t remember why! do you know?
Tobacco smoke contains chemicals that curb the appetite. Take away the smoke, and therefore the chemicals, and the appetite returns.
smoking suppresses your appetite.
when quit smoking u desire food when ur craving a cigarrette so u tend to eat more and gain a little wait
Besides the chemical response, smoking occupies your hands and your mouth. One addiction is replaced with another in some circumstances. Both eating and smoking are comforting as well, so when you take away one coping mechanism, you replace it with another.

Trying to quit smoking but feel sick still ? -

Ive been getting sinus infections almost bi monthly for the past year and kept getting walking pneumonia so I decided to quit because the doctors said it would help not cure all my ailments... The question is I have not smoked in the past 11 days and Im finishing up my Levaquin for a sinus infection only a few days left of the antibiotic yet I still don-t feel better. Much improved from last weekend but still not there.... My question is I havent smoked in 11 days which takes alot more than that to cure your body but I still feel sick... The sinus pressure is gone but Ive got this spaced out feeling in my head and I feel chest congestion but no cough.... Is this normal I am on the patch for nicotine replacement Im just sick of feeling sick all the time and I dont want to go back to smoking please help
Congratulations, keep going, and try not to give up it will all be worth it in the end I gave up over a year and a half ago now. I too felt dizzy and at first my doctor thought it was high blood pressure as i felt as though at times I was on a ship! rocking and rolling, then she though It might be an inner ear infection because of my symptoms. But it was actually the giving up of smoking. I feel great now. still have a wee craving now and then though!
But I feel my house, my clothes, my hair, all smell cleaner for giving up. (Now I know what my daughter meant when she said Gosh! Mum! you smell like an ash tray)
As I can smell the least little thing now.
Congrats again, and keep up the good work.
well done sweetie its been 11 days keep going, when i quit i felt so sick and kept getting colds and was ill for quite some time, it is just your bodies way of clearing out all the bad stuff you have been inhaling for years after about a month i felt a lot better and i tried patches and as my nurse said to me yes they can make you feel sick but the side affects of the patches are far better than the damage you do smoking, it is hard but you will feel better, keep up the good work honey your doing a great job.
Some people have reactions to the patches. I did when I tried them. I finally went cold turkey (after a heart attack) and have been smoke free for over a year now. See your doctor and he should be able to recommend something other than the patches. Good luck and remember that you CAN do it.
Whatever you do, keep going!! I-m an ex-smoker (over 30 years) and stopped because I had a heart attack last year. It all comes down to willpower, so don-t weaken. I can guarantee it will be worth it, both medically and financially. To help you with the -fight-, this is what happens when you give up -

Within 20 minutes: Your blood pressure and pulse rate drop to normal. Body temperature of hands and feet increase to normal.
Within eight hours: Carbon monoxide level in the blood drops to normal and oxygen levels in blood rise to normal. Smoker-s breath disappears.
Within 24 hours: Chance of a heart attack decreases.
Within 48 hours: Nerve endings start regrowing. Ability to taste and smell enhances.
Within three days: You-ll breath easier.
Within two weeks to three months: Circulation improves. Walking becomes easier. Lung function increases up to 30 per cent.
Within one to nine months: You-ll cough less. Sinus congestion and shortness of breath decrease. The cilia that sweep debris from your lungs will grow back. You-ll feel more energetic.
Within one year: Excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker.
Within two years: Your heart attack risk drops to near normal.
Within five years: Lung cancer death rate for average former smoker decreases by almost half. Stroke risk is reduced to that of a non-smoker five to ten years after quitting. Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, and esophagus, is half that of a smokers.
Within 10 years: Lung cancer death rate is similar to that of a non-smoker-s. Pre-cancerous cells are replaced. Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decreases.
Within 15 years: Your risk of coronary heart disease is that of a non-smoker-s.

All good, eh? Good luck.
it will take at least a month or so to feel better. please take some vitamins because smoking depletes your body of important vitamins that you need. Get on a healthy diet and I promise you-ll feel much better!
Quite natural, giving up smoking is hard. It made me feel really odd, [not nice odd]. Personally I couldn-t handle the patches, they made me feel ill. As you know it does get better/ easier. Good luck, keep it up !
You may be having a reaction to quitting smoking. Stick with it - it will wear off gradually. You-re right, it takes more than 11 days for you to get significant health benefits from quitting; but 11 days is better than none!

If you still feel sick, it could also be the infection. Have you tried nasal irrigation for the sinus problem? If you feel chest congestion, it could be a return of the pneumonia. I-d go back to the doctor asap and get your chest checked out.
It will take time. I quit smoking 4 days ago with Chantix. I didn-t want to replace nicotine, I wanted to get rid of it. You will get better, but there isn-t a miricle cure for sinuses, congestion, pneumonia, etc..

Good luck and stick with it.
Gernot S: What gives you the right to call anyone stupid?
If you didn`t like the question you should not have answered it. People like you are always very lonely.
I THINK U MUST HAVE SMOKED FOR A LONG TIME AND THAT SMOKE MUST HAVE GOT STORED IN UR CHEST AND MAKING U DIFFICULT TO BREATH. ITS GOOD U STOPPED SMOKING OR ELSE U CAN SUFFER FROM BRONCITISOR EMPHYSEMA. I-L TELL U WAT IS THESE DISEASE. emphysema breaks down the alveoli. the one or more substance in tobacco smoke weakens the walls of the alveoli. bronchitis stops the cilia in the air passages from beating and so the irritant substances in the smoke and the excess mucus collects in the the bronchi. it is located in the lungs. ask ur doc whether any of these are the problems. if not then pls send ur symptoms properly and i-ll explain it. sometimes becoz ur addicted u cant stay without one dose. u feel uneasy. as people say a smoker cannot go to the bathroom without smoking.
Congratulations for not smoking for 11 days. There is some improvement in your health, as you say, so try to be patient.
Try to drink lots of liquids, and sleep and rest as much as you can. These two things help your body recover from infection and clean up the toxins taken in with smoking. Your brain needs the rest also, to recover from probably years of being under the stimulant effects of nicotine. Some light walking is all right, but I would not recommend any heavy duty exercise when you feel light headed and you have an infection. Feeling lightheaded may also be a part of the symptoms some of which we all go through when quitting smoking. Just hang in there, you know, you are doing the right thing and should be proud of yourself. It is OK to see your doc again if you find things are not going quite right.
Get well soon!
You have a stupid screen name, and also a stupid habit, in smoking. It is excelent that you have given up. Try to stop endlessly thinking about how you feel. Go for a walk, take a bike ride, get some exercise., Think healthy - BE healthy.

Nobody can tell you that until the day you die dear. You may live to be very, very, old or not. You-ve probably increased your chances at more time/years by quitting smoking. Bravo you!
Congratulations. If you stay away from smoking then you should live a normal life span, granted you don-t have any other health issues. Good luck, you can do it!
Mild emphysema? Make sure quit smoking for good and follow your doctors- orders. You can have great life ahead of you even you have mild COPD.

How long after u quit smoking does this tightness in the chest disappear? -

its been 10 days since i quit cold turkey. i was having breathing problems due to tightness in the chest and dry nose. it still hasnt gotten better. when do u think these irritations will go away. its driving me crazy.
stay on the course, bro ..you are on a withdrawal syndrome and this is where the big tests come to you. yes, irritation and anxiety abounds but chew a lot of gum to keep the mouth busy.

it will take 3 to 4 weeks before you start feeling the ease of it. keep up the good work and pack plenty of gums. the urge is still strong at this time and you-ll be very much tempted to light one up again.

you-ll be coughing a lot but not all the time as this is your throat cleaning itself out, part of the withdrawal process. this throat cleaning process will take months, at time the irritation is so intense. so have plenty of these mint candies and gum .. these 2 sweets will help you a lot during this times.

keep it up ..you-re on a roll ... 2 weeks is like the climax of your venture, you go through these 2 weeks, the 3rd week will come a lot easier, and so will the fourth. and then you-ll be amazed .. -hey, one month .. i made it- .. and give yourself a well deserved pat in the back. the coming months will surely come easier ... you passed the most crucial stage .. the first month ..

so go on .. kick the habit .. you-re on your way ... bravo !!!!

What was your greatest motivation to quit smoking? -

What was your greatest motivation to quit smoking? -

I quit after 20 years. Mine was:

My boy, 1.5 years old, stopped hugging me after I smoked, he hated the smell. So, one day (1 year ago), I quit cold turkey.
my kids...my son was getting asthma from my smoking, the doctor asked if we smoked and when I told him yes, but outside the house he told us that it didn-t matter because it was still on our clothes and bodies and it was making my son sick. I bought the nicotine patch and quit that day, 5 years ago...he hasn-t had asthma since
I realized it controlled me and I hate being controlled.
Well is it working? Whatever works best for you
The most easy and effective one is:

I dont HAVE to smoke.

Like you almost everybody smoking knows that cigs smell bad. Also you realize that you are hooked - you always -need- to have a pack and a lighter with you. And you always come accross people that mind smoking.

Simply become aware that -though smoking is somewhat comforting- you do not HAVE to smoke but can do it later and that life is easier if you dont have to smoke.
Avoid thinking along terms such as: -I may never smoke again- I will miss smoking- or -I have to stop-.

All these thoughts make smoking look like a reward thats being denied and it makes quitting worse.
Positive thinking makes everything easier, even quitting to smoke.
wow good job!!!
Being diagnosed with emphysemia and only having 75% to 80% lung capacity.
Couldn-t breathe
my girlfriend is pregnant with my baby.... Im 4 months clean so far!
My kids
I quit over 5 years ago during a bad case of bronchitis. I had set a quit date for about 6 months after that, but a friend asked, -Why not stop now?-

I was tired of smoking even when I was too sick to do anything else. I threw away all my cigarettes and haven-t smoked since.

My quit date is March 9, 2001.

Liz
My younger brother asked me to. And I hated trying to hide from my nieces and nephews, whom I refeused to see me smoking. I didn-t want to be a bad influence for them, they tend to do a lot of what Tia Ely does. So I quit. 3 years and running!
The doctor, my husband - a few other people told me you-ll never quit.
I was so mad that, that made me quit.

I quit smoking two years ago, but now? -

I-ve started to go out again, and I would like a cigarette when I drink. I had one the other night, and I know that I can keep it to only having one when I drink. I had gone down to only smoking when I drank several years ago, never needed it on a daily basis. I just feel bad that I went so long without one, only to have one the other night. So, now does it matter if I have a couple of cigarettes once a week, or should I try to stop altogether?
stop all together,NOW
Not only lung cancer, but head and neck cancers are on the rise.
I work in a hospital, and you would never believe it, if someone told you, how horrible cancer from smoking is.Nightmare that never goes away.Trust me,if you ever had a cold and felt horrible, cancer is a thousand times worse.
dude Stop!!!
try sucking on a piece of ice or candy, that-s what my sister does, and she has gone without 1 in like 3 weeks
There is no such thing as a social smoker, before you know it you will be back to a pack a day,
best to leave them alone.
