Im planning on quitting smoking, any advice from those who have quit? -

i have one pack of cigs left, ive gone from 20 cigs aday to 3 cigs aday over a month, and wanna quit after the pack i brought today. Im thinking of using nicotine patehes, anyone have any other methods that have worked for them?
get people involved. i quit two months ago. relapsed years ago but get people involved. tell ur close friends , family your quitting. so they help you. support you. and when u decide to relapse or think about smoking. they will be there to watch ur downfall and laugh at you. and u wont want to let them down. yeah try the patches. although they didnt work for me, i just had to do it cause im a diabetic as well. and people are telling me left and right if i didnt stop im gonna die faster than i know it. and being only 18 its not too smart. so i had to. think about you.. what problems do you have? any diseases anything at all.. that complicates more with smoking? every cigarette takes 5 minutes of ur life away.. think about it.

chantix isnt bad either, ive heard it has helped people stop.. but its also how much are u willing to quit.
When I joined the church of God, I quit smoking after 1 year that co-member discovered it. According to word of God, nicotine makes our lungs dirty, so we cannot breathe and nicotine bars food nutrients such as protein. so we wrinkles, gets old and have poor resistance to bacteria.
Smoking is not one that can boast our ego. 1 stick lessen our life for 1 year. So drinking is better either. To remove nicotine, try intake of capsule esqualene sold at drug store.
hello.
First set a date of quitting ill set the date for you 12th December 2008.
Then mark the day on your calendar.
Make a consultation with your doctor before the date, ask for advise on chantix, Bupropion all medicines used for quitting smoking.
Next involve your friends and ask them to monitor your progress.
Studies show that if you are able to remain on schedule and dont smoke for 6 weeks after the assigned date, you have a 80% chance of quitting.
Hope this helps! good luck!
Hey man

This seems to be working for my friends. Looks bit silly but no harm in trying.

Tie a rubber band to your hand and when ever you feel like smoking, just pull the rubber band (not too hard) and leave it. You will obviously feel the pain slightly.

Now this is the theory behind it, when you release the rubber band, you get the pain and the brain sends the signal that a pain has occured and that takes priority compared to a feeling that you want to smoke. Basically your body do not want to get any pain, so your brain automatically adjusts to the system that if you feel like smoking, then a pain is going to occur (because u will be pulling the rubber band) and will eventually stop the urge to smoke.

You could try this and inform us. :)

go to your doctor and get Chantix...works wonders! you dno-t crave them and it-s amazing
