Can quit smoking trigger myathenia gravis? -
Since a couple of months I have been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. I have quit smoking, as a chain smoker 2 packs a day, last July 2005, so I question myself now if to quit smoking could have triggered that chronic illness which I have to carry till the end of my life. May going back to smoke recess the myasthenia?
Smoking doesn-t cause MG...but it can aggravate it (putting stress on the body) for someone who already has it. And, since quitting smoking is also stressful, it can trigger symptoms.
Any stress can trigger symptoms.
\If you hadn-t quit smoking, whatever else happened next in your life that caused stress would have done it. At least now, you-re not fighting MG while filling your lungs with smoke rather than oxygen. Congrats on quitting!

maybe the smoking caused it
