I am having a very difficult time trying to quit smoking. I thought it might be helpful to share stories.? -

I am sure others have success or failure stories they might like to share, something that might help others and possibly connect with some answer for yourself or loved ones who may be struggling with this addiction For example: Did some tecnique or cessation aid work well for you? I am sure this is a subject that almost everyone has had experience with, either first or second hand; No pun intended.
I chew tobacco and smoke, and have tried quitting many times. I can go 3-6months tobacco free and then start back again ususally because I justify to myself that all of the damage has repaired itself (I know this is stupid reasoning) I have tried most of the products from prescriptions to the patch to the gum but I have found that -cold turkey- is the best. The first few days are very hard, but just take it one second at a time and find something to replace the tobacco such as candy. I have gained weight every time I quit but it comes off. If you get on the patch or something, you will still have to come off nicotine at the end of the program so you are just stalling the process using these aides. The last time I quit I was smoking 2 packs a day and dipping about a can a day so quitting was extremly difficult but I did it without the aides. Quitting is not that hard, it is all mental just drink lots of water to flush out the nicotine. To me the hardest part is staying quit.
After smoking since I was 13 years old, I went to the doctor with severe bronchitis...he said I was on the cusp of emphysema and since I couldn-t get enough breath to smoke right then, I quit as soon as I walked out of his office...I used nicorette gum until the withdrawal was over (1 week) and after that, it was merely changing habits...
I quit smoking, I started when I was 14 and quit when I was 17. Me and my friend, a few years ago, were waiting for a bus and he offered me a cigarette, and I just needed to make something make the time go by quicker so I accepted. Been hooked again ever since.
stories won-t help you act.

make the choice and stick to it
