After I quit smoking I gained about 30 lbs. Can anyone recommend a good over the counter appetite suppressant? -

you don-t really need to take a suppressant . . . you only have to stop eating to replace the cigarettes . . . you are going thru the -need to do something with the mouth- . . . try chewing on straws, gum, natural wood golf tees - things like this give your mouth and something to do other than putting food in your mouth . . . drink more water and walk each day if you can to help give your mind something else to focus on too . . . if you still want to go on a suppressant, ask the pharmacist at the drug store to suggest the best one on the market today
it-s not your appetite that-s out of wack it-s your metabolism. Smoking increases your metabolism so just get some a supplement that does the same thing. There are so many out there though I couldn-t recommend one. Talk to a pharmacist.
I quit smoking recently, 2 weeks ago. I also have had to deal with changing my own metabolism. (trust me, the drug companies will not help you with your metabolism, and their products are just a waste of money!) I was 145 pounds, which is quite a lot for 5-1, and now i am 110 pounds. anyway, here is my advice:
if you switch to a healthy diet the temptation to over-indulge will be much less. if someone snacks on vegetables they can pretty much eat as many as they want until they feel like they cant eat anymore, because they are simply eating for nurishment/antioxidants, where as eating junk food fills you up with calories, but not a full stomach. Even if you can get away with a cookie or two a day and not noticing any weight gain, Junkfood is Never healthy to eat. (chances are you could eat a mango or a delicious cherry instead and feel the same amout of satisfaction from it than you would the cookie!) Fast food is physically addictive.

If you are in a situation where you must eat fast food, Subway or Quiznos is best. Skip the ranch.
According to the USDA and the United Nations, using an acre of land to raise cattle will yeild 20 lbs. of usable protein. What you may not realize is that an acre will also yield 356 pounds of protein if soybeans are grown instead. (we COULD solve world hunger if we wanted to) Land, water, and resources that could be used for our human consumption is being instead used to grow crops that feed and fatten live stock for wealthy America and Europe. If everyone on earth recieved 25 percent of their calories from animal products 3.2 billion could be fed. If you drop that figure to 15 that would mean 4.2 billion could be fed. (Remember, there are roughly 6.3 billion people on Earth) If everyone went vegan everyone would have more than enough food.

It was enough to make me go vegan, and now I am much healthier because of it.
THE MEAT INDUSTRY:
Not only does the meat industry make the animals lives a living hell, it also pollutes our air and water and turns once-fertile land barren and dead. These wealthy companies will try to influence you through messages in the media, some obvious and others subliminal. In turn, they give you food has been brutally slaughtered, (the government doesnt have time to enforce all of the health code regulations,) pumped with hormones, and will probably give you heart disease. They are simply made to convince you to increase your use of animal products. If they suceed, they will increase their profits at the expense of further poverty, hunger, and environemtal degredation, moving their factory farms to low-income nations.

Of course, i am not trying to force you to go vegan. what this comes down to, is this: it is simply your choice!
There are many other pleasures in life other than smoking cigarettes, and you can not fill the void with food either...
Light some insence, if they help you relax, Meditate. Figure out what truly makes you happy in life!

Smoking does not make you look cool!
Smoking is not a part of your character, either! You have character without cigarettes, and you will need to tell yourself that frequently if you are quitting and are addicted to cigarettes. Being addicted is no way to live, so dont let it rule your life. You will be much happier once you have kicked the habbit! So, congradulations on the progress you-ve made so far.
In the long run, a good metabolism can not be achieved with pills, you just have to exercise.
30lbs isn-t a huge amount of weight and alot women have found dat when they gain weight guyspay more atteion 2 them... and curves r comin bck monroe was a size 20 (uk) and i think guys have relised that stick thin isn-t sxy... i meen take away dapaddedbra i might as well b a guys body...!!
Sorry on this planet nothing is more contra-weight efficient then cigarettes. They kill you slowly, but not as fast as other suppressants and, chemicals.
Maybe some people will judge me for my answer, but I now someone who is dieing because of a drastic diet as we speak. She was so beautiful before, but she exaggerated her “weight problem“. Right now she is in a hospital, and she lost some teeth because they tried to feed her by force, and she still won’t eat. Don’t ever take suppressants, or hold you’re self back from eating. Just make up a healthy diet and go on with you’re life!
