Do you have any quit smoking tips? -

I am embarking on the quit smoking challenge and I would love some ideas and tips from people out there who have kicked the habit...
Are you using an aides to quit? I used the patch which helped me greatly.
Keep cut up fruit and vegtables in mini ziplock baggies to snack on because your appetite will increase. Take a water bottle with you where ever you go and when you have a craving, take sips of it. It helps with hand to mouth, helps you with detoxing and will help you through the craving.
Remember that cravings only last 2 minutes tops... you CAN get through that and they lessen with time.
I also used this site when I quit and it was a huge help! I logged in daily, and during my worst moments to prevent me from going off track. It has forums, advice, tips, support 24/7 (all free) and everyone is in the same boat. Take the time to check it out... you-ll find it really helps.

Good luck!
Hey there. Congrats on deciding to quit. Absolutely the number one best long term health decision you can make. I started a yahoo group when I quit with extensive files, links etc. attached that can answer ANY question you might have regarding smoking and quitting. Accurately. Feel free to have a look and hang in there.

You can get the new medication -Chantix- from your Dr. It works by telling the brain-s nicotine receptors that they are already full and there is no nicotine in the medication. Most insurance companies do cover this medication also. It really does work miracles! I also went and bought a humongous bag of those little -Dum-Dum- suckers to have someting for the hand to mouth habit too. They are small enough to not pack on the weight for you and they do the trick for that end of things. I also started walking after dinner instead of smoking. Good luck to you and great move!
there can be only 1 main thing to take care of in terms of quitting the habbit of smoking. STRONG WILL POWER TO QUIT.
if you have that then all else will be taken care of and no other tip is required. But if your will power to quit is not strong enough, then what ever tip anyone might give you is not going to work. If you think that you will reduce slowly and then one day quit this habbit - YOU ARE WRONG.
just stop smoking once and for all and ensure you dont get back to it come what may.
all the best !!!!
Decide for sure that you want to quit. Promise yourself that you-ll do it. It-s OK to have mixed feelings. Don-t let that stop you. There will be times every day that you don-t feel like quitting. You will have to stick with it anyway.

The following is a list of widely accepted tricks to help you get through the process of quitting.

Quit smoking tip #1:
Rid your entire life of cigarettes and all the paraphernalia of smoking such as lighters, matches, ashtrays etc. Never carry cigarettes with you.

Quit smoking tip #2:
Accept that you are never going to have another cigarette as long as you live. Understand that the only reason you could possibly need any smoking paraphernalia is because you plan on smoking again.

Quit smoking tip #3:
Don-t kid yourself that you will let your friends smoke in your house. You must ban smoking from every aspect of your life. Your house, your car, your back yard.

Quit smoking tip #4:
Never doubt your decision to quit smoking. It was the right decision.

Quit smoking tip #5:
Every time you crave a cigarette, feel proud that you have gone this long without one and you can manage even longer.

Quit smoking tip #6:
Drink plenty of water and drink plenty of citric fruit juices for the first couple of days. Stop drinking sugary drinks after day 3 or you will put on weight.

Quit smoking tip #7:
If you are worried about getting fat, start using the stairs at work or whenever you can. If you have to go somewhere within a mile, walk instead of cycle or taking the car.

Quit smoking tip #8:
Start eating healthy food. Stay off the pastries, sweets, potato chips and chocolates. Eat raw vegetables and plenty of fruit. Without smoking, these things start tasting even better than normal.

Quit smoking tip #9:
Set aside a jar to put all your cigarette money in. You will be saving over $30 a week if you are a normal smoker. Use this money to spend on something extravagant for your self after the first week and then after the first month.

Quit smoking tip #10:
Tell everyone you know that you are quitting smoking. Ask them for their encouragement - they will give it. Smokers and non-smokers and ex-smokers especially, will all be 100% behind you. No-one likes seeing friends or family killing themselves.

There are many support methods out there to help smokers quit. You can use nicotine replacement therapy (which I seriously don-t recommend), zyban or chantix with 16% and 22% apparent success rates. There are also other methods that do not use drugs or pharmacological interventions such as hypnotherapy or cognitive behavioural therapy. These methods generally boast better long term results than drugs do.

My advice to anyone trying to quit smoking is to be prepared to try any and every method you can. Invest money (particularly if it comes with a money back guarantee) because it is money well spent. No-one can tell you which method will work best for you so you can only find out by trying all the methods.

As always, never stop trying to quit smoking.
Drink tomato juice in the morning after you get up, and drink carrot juice before you sleep at night....try it ;)
Perhaps a web search for -quit smoking- + -natural ways- might be useful.
