Fiber one bars work great, also try lots of water and shredded wheat. If all else fails get some Colace at the store. Its not a laxative, but a stool softener to ease into bowel movements. Eat shredded wheat every single day to stay regular. Fairly simple solution. Good Luck
* Eat more potassium-rich foods. Potassium strengthens the colon walls and restarts peristaltic action that stimulates bowel movements. It removes the layers of mucus and dried faeces present on the colon walls. The best sources of potassium are prunes, tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, kale, sesame, seeds, wheat germ, brewers yeast, pineapple and cauliflower.

* Aloe is an excellent laxative. It cleans your stomach and intestines properly. Besides aloe, you can take buckthorn, frangula and senna to treat constipation. But take these herbs carefully for a short time.

* Take psyllium and drink plenty of water. Since psyllium is full of soluble fiber, it is an excellent remedy for constipation.

I know when I get constipated,I take a couple fiber tablets, they work, pretty quick and you don-t feel like you are pooping out your insides, like when you take a laxative.
Go to wallgreens or a drug store and ask for the pills they reccomend for pregnant women. I think they are called ecolax they work really well.

You can also do an enema on him if he is desperate.
Raisin bran. Seriously. Also takes care of the oral fixation. Or you could try visiting this site to talk to others like your husband:

Natural Senna Laxative. It is a pill you can find at your local pharmacy or perhaps even a chain drug store. It is inexpensive and works!
Good for him !! I hope he never goes back to it! Tell him to try some Milk of Magnesia. Also, he needs to put more fiber into his diet like fresh fruits and veggies.
