What to use to quit smoking? -
I need something that really works.
bottomline is that you have to make the consciencous (spelling? ) decision everyday to be a non smoker , no one else can make it for you . i quit 2.5 years ago cold turkey after deciding i didnt want to cough up nasty stuff anymore . be strong you can do it !!!! best wishes
you could use the nicotine patch.I have heard of people using hpnosis.
Talk to your doctor about that. It helps to know how severe your case is. But I heard gum works very well.
stay away from smokers, chew gum, start jogging
Hypnotist
The people who have the best luck and are completely able to quit just decide they won-t pick up cigarettes again. Regular smokers who are put in an environment with no chance of getting cigarettes have less withdrawel and other side effects.
nicotine inhalers
I smoked for 16 years. I tried many times to quit and failed. I actually quit for close to 2 years once, but thought about it every day. This time I knew I had to because it hurt to breathe. I had great support from my husband( you must have support from the people around you).I knew I needed extra help so I got the Smoke- Away system. You have to really want to quit to do it. Different things work for different people. It-s been a little over a year and a half now and I don-t miss it or even think about it. Don-t give up. And stay away from people when they smoke. It will only torture you.
I smoked for 30 years and attempted to stop on a number of occasions. There is no ONE method that works for everyone. Some things however should exist as PART of a stop smoking regimen.
1. YOU really want to. In other words, you-re not stopping for someone else.
2. Accept that the cigarette smoking is really an addiction comparable to some hard drugs such as heroin in its addictive -powers-
3. Smoking brings with it a number of associative actions such as Coffee+smoking and/or drinking+smoking and/or waking up+first cigarette etc. Try to identify these associations and consciously try to break the bonds. This can be as extreme as stopping to drink coffee or alchohol or change the time of day or place where you consume. This varies with the individual.
4. Learn to really HATE!!!! cigarettes. Try to put all your energy of disliking certain things and people into cigarettes. Most people know that ex-smokers are the most virulent anti-smokers.
5. Don-t feel guilty if you break down. It becomes a vicious circle of failure and guilt making you miserable to live with.
6. Break up your day in logical sections and only focus on some of them, not all. For example: The period when you get up, have breakfast then leave the house. The period when you are driving to/from work or school. Coffee breaks etc. Declare only one of those periods non-smoking and tell yourself that you-ll get your -prize- when the period ends. During that period look for a substitute action to smoking. Chew gum or a pencil or even nicotine gum in the beginning (this is for the oral fixation). Slowly at your own speed, increase the periods which are non-smoking.
The above process is for people who have a really strong habit and the idea of going cold turkey is just plain unrealistic.
try chewing tobacco hey its not smoking
The best thing you could use in order to stop smoking is your common sense.
It comes from you only. You first have to decide that you want to quit smoking - not need to, but this time you really want to. It-s easier with some help, and it is proven that programs or counselling help the most, and one of the best programs is at the website listed below, along with lots of free information to help you stay smoke-free.
