Im quitting smoking for the second time but how dose smoking increase your metabolism? -

Cause I dnt want to put any weight on when i stop - can i lose weight and quit smoking at the same time? I want to do both at the same time will stopping smoking make a difference to how much weight i will lose?
Smoking increases your metabolism because nicotine is a CNS stimulant that makes your body produce stress hormones. (Other stimulant drugs make you lose weight as well, including diet pills.) For that reason, people who stop smoking normally gain a few pounds initially and have to take it off.

So -- congratulations on your resolve, but don-t try to do both at the same time. It-s just too hard and you-ll be setting yourself up for failure. Stop smoking first, it-s the more difficult of the two and unless you-re morbidly obese the more important from a health perspective. Then, when you-re past the withdrawal, you can lose weight with a low carb diet and exercise. I stopped five months ago and after gaining weight for the first four months, I-ve started to lose it again naturally, without a special diet -- I-ve lost 16 pounds or so. I plan to let nature keep taking its course and only if the weight loss stops before I-m down to a reasonable weight will I think about a formal diet.
Joshua gave a great answer to this question. I-ll just add one more thing - both Zyban and nicotine gum have been shown in studies to at least delay weight gain (while on the med(s), you don-t gain weight). Zyban (Wellbutrin, buropion) is by prescription only while the gum is over-the-counter. Just remember that health wise, quitting smoking is the best thing you can do! If you do gain any weight (or want to lose weight), tackle that when you feel you-re comfortable with not smoking. yes you can ,the problem when you quit smoking your brain tries to find substitute for nicotine so it replaces with sugar and its another kind of addiction
but here is it
try to work out and let your brain Enjoys the endorphins from hard working out ,in the same time you wont be gaining any weight and try to cut on sugars at least for 3 months
eat healthy ,detox your body every month for a week ,drink water ,enjoy life and i m happy for you because you are wise enough to stop this killer from entering your body
and no smoking doesn-t speed up your metabolism its bad for you and you don-t feel like eating because when your health is bad you have no appetite that-s all
...Yes and working overtime to afford the darn things.

I quit after many, many years and have not looked back. If I dream about smoking, then and only then, it is okay to have a cigarette. Otherwise no. Sure I miss it but I prefer sleeping through the night without waking up coughing my lungs out.

I keep my weight down by snacking on celery and carrots throughout the day. I try to fit in, at least, twenty minutes of walking, too.

Smoking increases the metabolism from all of the extra energy your body expends on trying to breathe clean air and all the activities associated with before and after smoking, like walking to the store in order to buy cigarettes and walking to the designated smoking area, etc.
