If the FDA makes cigarettes contain less nicotine (or none at all) will it be easier to quit smoking? -


No, because smokers just smoke more cigs or inhale more deeply or take more puffs to get the nicotine they-re accustomed to. That-s why low-nicotine cigarettes don-t do any good, in fact, they do harm because people inhale more smoke to get their nicotine fix so their cancer risk actually goes up.

I believe the law bars the FDA from eliminating nicotine, and I think that-s wise. If they did, it would just be a form of prohibition and it would create a black market.
In theory it seems like smoking cigarettes containing less or no nicotine would make it easier to quit smoking, however, I suspect that smokers would in fact smoke more in an attempt to achieve the satisfaction level they received when they were smoking the cigarettes they are currently smoking.
