How long after I quit smoking cigarettes do the withdraws go away. They dont. They are all lying to you.? -
It takes about a week before the body detoxes from nicotine - longer if your metabolism is slow or you have a poor immune system. The good news is with a healthy diet and things like vitamin C and antioxidants you can shave a day or two from that week. After that physical detox the rest is all psychological.
If you are serious about quitting smoking, then change your habits. Do something else after you eat, avoid coffee and alcohol at all if possible (at least until you manage to get the cravings under control), and avoid anything else that you know triggers a cigarette craving.
The bottom line is - and this is coming from someone who quit 9 years ago - that quitting smoking is a decision, not a process. It-s not about seeing how long you can go before you possibly cave - that-s the secret to failure right there. It-s about making up your mind, truly deciding that this is something you-re going to do and then doing it. That way, it-s not about doubting whether or not you can do this, but about what you need to do to get through the uncomfortable parts.
I stopped 2 weeks ago. Its getting much easier except I keep dreaming that I light up a cigg and I feel very guilty about it. I-m still coughing quite a bit though but I think that everyone is different. I-m also eating like crazy!!! My sister stopped 3 months ago and says that her body and cravings only recently got better now.
But well done!!! Lets keep it up!!
If you-re heavily addicted the cravings are bad for months, tolerable after four. It takes about a year and a half before you feel entirely normal. Chances are you-ll still have occasional cravings for the rest of your life, but they-re manageable. And yeah, they either lie or don-t know what they-re talking about.

I quit 8 days ago and its already getting easier. The longer you are away from them the easier it gets. Both you and i will go through a whole day without even thinking of them. Time is a great healer, its like any bad relationship. Its painful at first but you eventually move on.
Why would it be a lie? Cigarettes are not a normal thing. Its a poison. IIts not like food and dieting, because you need food
