Looking for the best way to quit smoking. Thanks for any advice? -

Have been smoking a long time, and really would like to quit.
Is the patch the best way to go?
Thankyou
I just quit using the patch but make sure you ALWAYS wear it. I still had withdrawal like hot flashes and sweats. Chew gum, suck on candy or chew sunflower seeds (worked for me). I used the 14mg patch daily and never even had to switch to the 7mg patch. just stopped wearing it. Get it at Walmart, their store brand is WAY cheaper than the name brand. The patch just kinda makes you forget about it but you have to replace the hand to mouth action with something else or just the patch wont work this is my third time trying. First two times just used patch but third time chewed gum, candy and sunflower seeds, and it worked. Now i have to break my sunflower seed addiction :) Ive been smoke free about a month and a half now. still have urges but doing good. :)
stop buying cigarettes.

I-m a smoker for 4 years and have noticed when i get sick that it-s the best opportunity to quit smoking. I don-t get the cravings and even if i did smoke it would hurt a lot.

Why do you not get cravings?
Also if i haven-t smoked in two days and I-m getting better, what can i do to keep up the success?!?
Go to your dr for some medical help to succeed.
Remember how ill you felt when you were ill, smoking can and does kill, I have just had to watch my Niece dying from lung cancer, believe me, you need to leave it off NOW!
I have been using green smoke for a while now and i can tell u its 100% a healthier alternative than smoking! no carcinogens carbon monoxide or tar, just nicotine and u can use it to ween yourself off if u like....... but the best part is it looks and feels like u are really smoking but its just water vapour!! check out the website and read up on the benefits I-m sure u will be as impressed as i was!!! u can also use this code disc10-7097 to get 10% off the price should u decide to join us green smokers lol hope this helps

How to quit smoking cigarettes? -

i-ve been smoking for about 3 years (give or take).
i really wanna quit but i don-t want to use the patch or the gum; i want to do it on my own (i know it might sound kinda crazy, but i just want to do it cold turkey).
i-ve recently lost a substantial amount of weight and i-m afraid if i quit i-m gonna put it back on so i know not to replace it with sweets. i want to start exercising again, but i can-t go for long with my lungs full of cigarettes.

any suggestions on how you or others have quit?
its extremly hard.
the only way me and my boyfriend could quit was to start chewing tabacoo and then chew less and less of that and then swich to sunflower seeds ( because the have the same motion of chewing tabacoo)
im done with it but hes having a harded time ( he smoked for 8 years i smoked for 3)

goodluck its hard.
Quitting cold turkey is just making the conscious decision that you will not have another cigarette. Trying to replace one addictive thing with another can be good if the replaced thing is something healthy
Instead of turning to sweets try and do some small exercises when you feel the urge to smoke like jumping jacks or crunches or running
You must be fully committed to it if you want to stop and there are also things to help with you quiting smoking so do those to help and get a past time to help stop it and also get something new to eat or have instead of smoking.

I really want to stop, but everyone around me smokes. I have tried umpteen times and to no avail!!! I have had patches, gum, lozenges, self-help books, the lot!
eat a lot of chocolate, it helps me :)
i smoke, but my wife don′t like me to smoke very much, chocolate helps curb the urges for cigarettes.
The most effective way is doing it yoursel: quit cold turkey. The problem is that it is difficult to arrive at the moment in your life when you realize that the health consequences of smoking are absolutely terrible and unavoidable and that your children and your wife and all your loved ones will suffer greatly if you are gone.
I always thought that I didn-t have the will power or that I was going to get panic attacks and that I was forever hooked. Nothing bad happens when you stop smoking, on the contrary. That was big surprise for me. Now it has been 110 days of not smoking after 30 years of one pack a day or more. I am very happy, feel 200% better, I don-t stink like an ashtray anymore, I can get closer to people and to my loved ones without the fear of reject because of my smell.
Go on, try it and you will see.
i had a friend who quit. and when i asked how he quit he told me... just don-t smoke. it worked for him and he has been smoke free for 5 years now. i know it sound stupid but get it a try. what do you have to lose.
stoping smoking is very hard, especially if people around you smoke and arent conciensous of you trying to quit. The best you can do is just suck it up, have some will power and quit. Set a date, ween yourself slowly and commit to quitting on that date and for good. Try wellbutrin or chantix. Ask those around you to not smoke around you. If they cared they would oblige. Other than that, its just all will power. Remove yourself from situations that trigger your smoking too. like being on the computer, driving, talking on phone etc. substitute with gum, sunflower seeds etc. to occupy your mouth.
Why would you want to quit? Smoking makes you look cool and adds a massive amount of street cred to your profile. I-m just kidding. I-ve been having the same problem trying to quit myself. I haven-t been able to completely quit but I-ve been able to massively cut back to the point where I go days without a smoke. There are a few things that have helped me along the way. The first and hardest for me was that I had to quit drinking for about a month as I was unable to stop myself from smoking when I was out at the bar. Second thing that helps me is that I always keep some sugar free candy around so that when that craving comes and you know it does I pop a piece of candy and it keeps my mouth busy and I eventually don-t want to smoke. The final thing that has helped me immensely is hitting the gym as often as possible. When you-re doing healthy things and making healthy decisions you don-t feel like you want a smoke and get disgusted with yourself when you do give in. Also it helps to break your usual patterns. If you take smoke breaks while at work then stop and instead go climb some stairs or walk around a different floor and explore the building. I know that sounds gay but anything to keep your mind off smoking usually is a good thing. I-m not sure if this will help but best of luck to you!
In just 30 days or less, you can quit smoking!

How do you quit smoking ganja? -

Ive been smoking for ten years and i want to stop, but every time i say i quit i end up with a blunt i my mouth.
Go to a Marijuana Anonymous land meeting if there is one near you (http://www.marijuana-anonymous.org), and if there isn-t, go to MA online http://www.ma-online.org/. I smoked for over 30 years and I have been clean for 3 1/2 years now. MA gave me the support to stop and continues to help me keep clean. Good luck!
I know it-s soo hard. I-ve been sober for about 8 days now! :)
What I did was put all my papers, bongs, pipes away and do something else in the time that I was smokin-. Like maybe excercise, or play a video game, or go chill with some non-smoking friends. Sooner or later it will be easier to get weed off of your mind. And whoever tries to give you some weed, just say no. Yes, yes I know it-s hard, but it helps to quit. :)
You don-t
It-s forever homie
why would you want to?

How can i encourage my friends to quit smoking? -

I have friends both male and female smoker. How can i encourage them or say something to them to encourage them to quit smoking? They are old enough to know that smoking is bad for health. I am a non smoker
You can-t. It-s something they have to do for themselfs.
Very good you are the one who cares for your friends

They will not do it if you will tell them directly.
And it-s also not like that ki tey dont know the ill effects

Touch them emotionally...
If their old enough to buy the product, it-s their decision- not yours- besides, whoe-s going to pay the taxes to your state if they quit?
If you want your friends to quit smoking just tell them to quit smoking alot it they repeat it daily and if they tell you these words: -Go away- or - its none of your bussines and we want to smoke-. Then all you do is just leave them alone as the only thing you did is you encouraged them to not smoke. Also tell them its bad for the lungs and then they will just hear you, but maybe later they will stop.
Well, you can-t force them to, but you can let them know that you are concerned about their health.Once is enough. If they want to continue or quit, it-s their choice but let them know that whether or not they do so, it won-t hurt your friendship.
Good on you. tell there parents but don-t tell them you told.
Hope this helps.
Tell them to watch Thank You for Smoking. And, also, if they are old enuf to know it-s bad for their heath, they are old enuf to make desicions for themselves. And you should be old enuf to know you can-t make ppl stop doing something just because you think it-s wrong.

the same as nicotine! You are very addicted to nicotine and at least you don-t have hte extra pollutants and yellow teeth. You are one step down now so at least celebrate that! Otherwise let your body use the gum for a little while then decrease your gum by a peice a day every week. First week take away one peice every day. The next week take away two etc. You should get down to one peice and then finally you will be done, don-t try cold turkey you could have withdraw symtpoms
here are a couple webites i think u might find helpful:

https://www.healthforums.com/library/1,1…

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Addiction/…

however, they dont say to much simply because there isnt a lot of information found on them but it stills has some info.
These are really good tips I have heard to stop smoking. Hope they help.

Because a smoker forms the habit of putting something in their mouth, and it-s like always a cigarette. you will need something else to put into your mouth, like lollipops.

Have a peppermint each time you crave a cigarette, the craving will go away somehow.

Be sure to have lots of water, the nicotine will wash out within 48 - 72 hours. Let-s say, the same amount as some scientist discovered. 6 - 8 glasses a day.

Make sure you get a lot of fresh air and exercise, it will help your brain recover

Have faith. Thinking you can-t do it over and over won-t help.

Long-term Use of Nicotine Gum Is Associated With Hyperinsulinemia and Insulin Resistance
This is an excellent question b/c i currently trying to quit, and am on the gum. And i was wondering the same thing, since it doesn-t have all the tar, and poisons, and cancer causing cargingins (sp?) like an actual cigarette, only the nicotine, will it then cause any harm at all?

Looking forward to seeing the answers u receive.
Penis size will shrink and you will gain an affinity for malt balls and watching old Pee Wee Herman shows.

I just decided to quit smoking about 5 hours ago. Now I feel so dizzy. When will this stop? -

My head is spinning. It-s ridiculous. I wish I had never started. Is there an approximate time span in which the cravings/side effects of withdrawal begin to die down?
Starting your day with cigs is like starting your day with coffee, you really notice it when you don-t.

It takes about a week for the physical cravings to stop.

It takes longer for brain chemistry to return to normal. You can expect to feel off or irritable or depressed (or any combination thereof) for at least 2 or 3 months depending on the details of your habit.

It takes a long time to break the habits you developed while smoking. For a long time you will find yourself thinking that something doesn-t feel right, and you will realize it-s because your habits are telling you that should be smoking while doing whatever it is. These can be subtle and may take as much as a year or two.

Congratulations though. You really are doing a really positive thing to maximize your health in the future.

I used to work with cancer patients and I can-t tell you what it-s like to see a chemo patient push their IV pole out to the parking lot so that they can smoke.
It takes a few days to get over the mental addiction. The thing is, your cravings will only last a few minutes... so if you can get over them youll be good for the next few hours.

You can also try an herbal supplement to help

WHAT? you quit 5 hours ago and your already getting sick? damn i bet you were smokin like 3 packs a day. you cant go 5 hours with out one? geez im glad you are quiting but damn its only been like 5 hours..................
Day 3 is usually the worst. If you are having that much trouble you might want to consult a doctor.
it takes 48-72 hours for the nicotine to leave your system and then it will get ALOT better!
you shouldnt quit all at once if you were smoking that much before its unhealthy cut back slowly
Lol soft..... watch one of those ads where they squeeze the tar outta your heart valves!
well, I don-t know when it will stop... but I know it will stop.. and you know why I-m here. (business)

Whats the best way to quit smoking? -

chantix is the most effective prescription drug available to my knowledge, has about a 25-30% long term quit rate (which might sound low but is actually quit high for smoking cessation). counseling along with it is good too because it helps people deal with cravings which prevents relapses.

for the people that say its because you need to flush the nicotine or toxins out of your system, its actually the opposite. your body is used to having the nicotine around and begins to consider its presence -normal-, so when its pulled you get the cravings/withdrawl symptoms. and cold turkey might be the most noble way but it is not the best way as far as success rates go, i think only something like 5% of cold turkey attempts are succesful
what-s with all the thumbs down? go do some research people

I quit smoking on june 19th. We were going to disneyworld and I had heard that down there finding a place to smoke is a real hassle so I took some nicotine gum to get me by when I couldn-t have a cigerette. I had to give up my lighter at the airport and just chewed the gum the whole time we were gone, and well I haven-t had a cig since. When you want a cig chew a piece of nic gum. I-ve been off the gum since aug. 23rd. good luck to you.
According to what I have read myself as a smoker, nicotine is out of our system in 3 days!!! After those three hard days its all in our minds. The best way to quit is to throw the pack away and remember we control our mind and body not some drug.
After smoking for 49 years and trying everything from cold turkey to the patch and hypnotherapy, I-ve finally quit! Haven-t had a cig since July 31. Chantix did it for me.
The medication Chantix, worked the best but you have to stay on it until you are really sure that you are strong enough to fight the urge. I would say to stay on it for at least a few months. Ask the doctor about it and find out if you are able to take it.

Take Care and God Bless You !
The way I quit was to start using snuff like a pinch between cheek and gum. Brands like Skoal and Copenhagen. I used it to get my nicotine fix. It was such a disgusting habit, that I talked myself in to quitting. It worked but I would not recommend this method for everybody. I have not had any tobacco or cravings for it for seventeen years.
Just pure determination and discipline applies to the following;

*whenever craving for a cigar use candy as a substitute.
*don-t ever use the method in which you would assign a time to smoke...it would make you want to smoke more because you-d be looking forward to the time of smoking.
*Your body is used to smoking, that-s why not smoking at full-stop immediately will not work, ever. Try smoking lesser a day.
*have something to inspire you not to smoke, goes a long a way.

That-s all i know...good luck to you.. :)
Cold Turkey is the -only- way to quit. If you need convincing on quitting, this is an excellent web site to peruse...
cold turkey method, drinking green tea, uumm if you end up buying another pack and smoking one, throw the whole pack away, a feeling of waste of money. i recently quit smoking, i can say Reiki helped, looking it up.

Look at smoking as a highly addictive entity that aim to ruin your health and cost you a fortune over your shortened life if you do not quit. So do not wait to you get emphysema, wrinkled skin yellow fingers and possibly lung cancer in return for spending thousands of dollars trying initially to look cool, an image the tobacco companies try to create.
So what to do, just tale your last cigarettes and soak them under the tap, give the smokes or what is left of them a squeeze and you will see the toxic gunk they contain ooze out. then dispose of the mess in the trash and wow never to take a single puff on a cigarette again ever. You must also if you feel desperate put a time like two minutes between having a puff and the present time, but that is in relation to whatever time it happen to be, so if you wait a minute there is still two minutes to go, always.
Then avoid - friends- who see it as their duty to undermine your resolve, and keep busy and think of something else if the thought of smoking enter your mind.
It may not be the easiest way to give up, but it work.
The best way to quit smoking is to stop hanging out with your friends you do smoke together, thereafter ask yourself what do you really derive from such act. And,if you need permanent solution to this bad habit i inmploy you to always visit this blog: http://stopsmokingmagazine.blogspot.com
You can only stop smoking with your will power..!!! Control yourself. Never smoke for any reason. Not a single puff. Try avoiding Smokers Company. Change your mind or delay while you feel a need. It’s difficult in the beginning but after a few months you will get used to and will think that you have got the control. That will be a dangerous period because you may think of smoking for once or occasionally. Trust me if you smoke again even for a single time you will get into smoking more severely this time.

All other ways are just wastage of time and money.
Honestly, it-s different for every smoker.

I think the most effective way would be a combination of a few things

1) Slowly start decreasing the amount you smoke over a period of time.
2) Keep yourself occupied. Many people find chewing gum helps. When you get the urge to smoke, find some gum nearby and pop it into your mouth.
3)Think about the reasons you smoke. Habit? Stress? If its stress, you need to somehow find another way to relieve that stress.
4)Surround yourself with a supportive environment.Nothing-s worse than trying to quit, but being around friends who always want you to smoke with them. Nothing-ll get accomplished that way.

Good luck!!!
Well a lot of people are quitting with e cigarettes, its basically a cigarette without fire and all the other harmful stuff. My father is using one and he likes it and it can slowly get you off smoking by lowering the nicotine in the e cigarette cartridges. Hope this helped
Dont Be Around cigarettes Or People who Smoke Throw All Your cigarettes Away Dont By New Ones Or Be Around Them And useful stop smoking aids such as nicotine nasal sprays, nicotine lozenges, nicotine inhalers, nicotine patches, nicotine gum and stop smoking pills.
i bought e-cigarettes and they have really helped me. its also cool to -smoke- em anywhere

Prevent weight gain after quit smoking? -

I-m tracking my calories on Sparkpeople. I eat LESS than I did when smoking 1000-1300 a day now. I quit 2 months ago. I have gained 10 lbs and really don-t want to start smoking again, but this is doing a number on my self-esteem and I don-t know how to fix it. Help
Hi.
You should get involved in sports, start exercising - that will bring up your metabolism again. I would suggest you join a gym, there you can train all your muscles and thus increase your metabolism more than you you just jogged.
You also need to consider very what you eat, don′t just count the calories. Do you know this:

http://www.lifeclinic.com/focus/nutritio…

Good for you to stop smoking!
well no matter what, you will gain weight after quiting smoking, beecasue your body is storing more from stress of no nicotine.. my brother gained like 30lbs after he quit.. its going to happen im afraid. but you can help to make it just a small gain in weight..
Its great your eating less, that will obviousl;y help, but you need to excersise alot more, so your body is burnings calories. get into a routine of power walking, jogging, sports, whatever just do something at the same time for around an hour everyday, make it quite vigorous excersice, and you might find you-ll loose weight rather than gain it..
hope this helps.

p.s- remember laziness will ruin this xD

Is it commen to get sick right after you quit smoking? -

my last cigerette was monday night and woke with flu like symptoms today, is this normal?
Yes, this is normal.
When you are trying to give up an addiction like cigarettes, your body is in a sense detoxing.
Flu like symptoms are very common in this case.
Also, insomnia and irritability and headaches.
Hang in there.
Try drinking more water or green tea, stay hydrated.
Start on a good complete multivitamin.
Sit in a sauna and then drink more water to replace what you lose.
It is all part of the process.
You body is talking to you.
It is saying -thank you for helping me to heal.-
Hang in there.
You will be sooo happy you took this step.
In a week or so, try a little exercise.
Do not over do it. A nice long walk, for example.
In no time you will be feeling better.
Good luck!!!
The first time I tried to quit smoking my vision was impaired and I felt like there was something behind my eyes that was going to explode after the first 8 hours. Frankly, it S U C K E D.

When I finally did quit, I found I coughed an awful lot, and I mean it was a productive cough. It-s your lungs clearing themselves out. As far as feeling achey, I can-t remember. Different people experience different withdrawal symptoms. I bet if you called your local American Lung Association or Red Cross they would have someone available to talk to you about different withdrawal symptoms.

It also could be that you have a touch of some virus that is going around.

In any case, WAY TO GO WITH QUIT SMOKING!! Hang in there with it. Occasionally you will feel stressed and want to pick up a smoke. Don-t do it. The urge passes after about a minute. Later on you will get urges less and less often.

When you start feeling the money you save in your wallet, you-ll be so glad you quit! Not only are you a healthier you, but you are richer, too!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
WHY QUIT? What is the best product to use to quit smoking- the patch or inhaler? -

If you have to pick one, use the patch. The inhaler reinforces the hand to mouth habit of smoking.
Cold turkey! Both just prolong the nicotine addiction in a different form.
no need for the two. just simple determination. i was a chain smoker but i did it 6 years ago and had not return to smoking
no product is the best if u don-t have ur will to quit smoking .u have to want it and help the products the products alone don-t do a thing . good luck :)
use both
Cold turkey is what we did.....
put them down and find something else to do. Nicotine is an addiction but smoking is just a habit. try smoking cloves or pot instead.

Does anyone know if there are any side effects for taking hoodia pills while wearing a patch to quit smoking? -

Does anyone know if there are any side effects for taking hoodia pills while wearing a patch to quit smoking? -

yea hoodia isn-t a stimulant so therefore there is nothing in it that will counteract with taking the patch. If you feel like you don-t want to take the pills anymore because you notice something irregular, then stop. But it can-t harm you. Hoodia is natural and probably the safest dietary supplement out there. Is it effective, that I cannot tell you.
the person above me is retarted.
hoodia is NOT EVEN A STIMULATE.

u will be fine taking hoodia with the patch.
Stroke ( CVA ) would be the worst case scenario and it is possible. Get a self hypnosis CD to quit smoking and be rid of the nicotine.... Stop hoodia and other stimulants.... join weight watchers on line and a gym and don-t risk the stroke

I really want to quit smoking but i work with a couple guys that smoke every day? -

on our break and always offer me cigarettes. I also find it impossible not to smoke when i have been drinking. Any advice from anyone on the best way to get this done? I smoke on average one or two cigarettes per day, is this as bad as smoking 2 packs per day?
Well one or two a day is SO much better than a pack or more a day.
Why don-t you look into getting an electronic cig for those times. You can even get them with low or no nicotine. There are LOTS of options.
Look up some vid on youtube and check out some forums like vapersforum.com lots of info so you can make a decision.
well one or two obviously ist like a whole pack.. but why would you want to smoke one or 2 a day, if your serious about quitting you may want to try patches, ect..

i have found that a support group gave me what i needed!!

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.
No its not as bad, but slowly weining off them is a good idea. Cold turkey can be hard sometimes, but eventually it will be necessary

I don-t want to blow a bunch of cash on patches or pills. What worked for you when you went cold turkey?
I informed everyone that I would be a total ***** for a few days( and I was) that way I didn-t have to feel guilty. I allowed my self to eat whenever and whatever I wanted for the first week. (popcorn or pretzals/chips are good when your on the computer... My dad quit after smoking for like 40 years, and he told me the first 2 days were the worst, and I clung to that. It was actually about 3 days, but then it got easier. What really helped me was each time I felt a bad craving, i-d goto quit smoking forums and read other peoples struggle, which always renewed my strength, and I-m not usually into that kind of stuff. And you have to retrain your brain to do things Without ciggs, getting out of bed, driving, breaktime at work etc..Thats really the worst part, but knowing that, makes its easier. I realized it was just like breaking up with someone you love, you grieve alittle, you and your love have to part ways, cuz its just not good for you. Oh and I advise to have your last one the night before, that way you-ve already got 8 hours clean when you wake up....hope any of that helps.
I chewed tobacco for 5 years and I-ve smoked for about 7. I-ve recently given up smoking and I did it by lots and lots of mints and gum. Really it-s a matter of keeping yourself occupied. Trying to get out of the habits you may have such as always smoking in the car or after a big meal... or if you notice that you smoke on a schedule then try to switch it up. Quitting won-t do you any good if you don-t change your day to day habits. First step for me was to clean out my car and make it smell new... from there I didn-t smoke in my car anymore which cut me back to fewer cigarettes a day. If you tend to use smoking as a stress reliever then I suggest finding a different way of relieving stress before you start to quit.

The one thing you have to realize is that you have to quit because you want to, not because of family or friends... you have to do it when you are ready or else you will relapse and start smoking again.

good luck!!
Cold Turkey is just that .No patches no pills.It-s like jumping in a pool filled with ice cold water BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and then it gets better and better then easier and easier. Now my Dad took all his smokes and flushed them down the toilet he said that was his step of commitment. He was really crankey and edgy and nervous a few days and coughed allot but honey it was worth it He lived to be 91 and my father-in-law did the same thing and he was smoke free for 47 years he lived till he was 97 and almost made 98 .Go for it the hard way it will convince you NEVER to get hooked again.People I-ve seen that use all those helps have not seemed to again get tempted (I-m not saying that some don-t stick to their resolve just people I-ve seen)Thento look at all the bucks you-ll save and you can use to give yourself a reward of some sort !GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Duct tape...

No, really... it is amazingly hard to quit smoking. I tried patches, pills, gum, everything and managed to get myself to a once or twice a month smoker.

Ultimately, you will have to get through cravings that can be very intense. If you have a plan for tolerating, distracting yourself, and using substitutes during the cravings, you can probably do it. Try your best! It-s worth it...
I saw my dad put them down, never to pick up the habit again, even though mom kept on in front of him, Cold turkey is best, but hard at first, but everyday you stay away, you become a little stronger.
Well I stopped for 6 months. I used peppermints and everytime I wanted a cigarette I put a dollar in a jar and used that money for something I wanted for myself. It takes alot of work and will power. Good Luck to you!
Die from lung cancer.

Free - easy way to quit permanently.

Other than that? I think it usually works best if you replace it with something--gum, hard candy, exercise, etc.

; )
Just don-t buy em-!
It-ll be hard, but don-t give in.
Find something else to occupy your time.
You-ll get through it!
:]
M-M-s and water and walking.....I quit for 3 yrs...granted I went back to it...but, I quit with m-m-s and every time I craved....I grabbed a water and walked.
I-d like to see some good answers to this question myself.

Unfortunately, I-m a smoker, too, and I seriously want to quit.
** can-t help you with this, but I wish you the BEST of luck**
Try chewing gum. That-s what my uncle did, and it worked for him.

I have been constipated for 2 weeks after I quit smoking, does anyone know how long this will last? -

I exercise 1 to 2 hours a day
I eat 25g of Fibre per day
I drink 2 liter of water per day and have tried everything you can possibly think of, but it has not helped. I feel horrible and cry all the time....I think the stress is not helping the situation. Does anyone know how long the digestive system will take to get use to no nicotine as stimulant. Please, I am desperate to be normal again,
It is one of the most common reasons that people fail to give up smoking (but nobody really talks about it). Your bowel has become sluggish as it has become dependant on nicotine to stimulate the peristaltic action which moves waste along. You need something to help retrain your bowel. Try either Col-Tone A or Col-Tone B which you can buy from
http://www.detoxonline.co.uk
- they are natural, herbal colon cleansers which will gently stiumulate the bowel and get it going again. You start off taking one three times a day and if that doesn-t get the desired effect then increase to two three times per day. The also stock a slightly stronger version called Natural TNT which is very effective. If you visit the site send an e-mail and they will help you with your dchoice. It would also be a good idea to have a course of colonic irrigation which will help to get things moving again. Make sure you keep your fibre and fluid intake up. And it might help to get up earlier in the am and take some exercise - a trampet can be really good at getting things moving - using gravity to help things on their way.
We don-t know how long you have been a smoker and how long have you been sticking to this good routine of exercise, fiber and water. Anyways, giving up smoking is a wise decision. Be patient, stick to it and don-t give up easily. There are many natural home remedies for you to explore. Don-t run to OTC laxatives yet.

Looking forward to your great stool day!
Your body will adjust and you will find yourself having to run to the toilet soon.
Talk to yr doc. Small, regular dose of lactulose will probably help

I want to quit smoking cigarettes, Previous smokers please!? -

I want to.. I don-t like this stupid addiction.. how do I quit w. out going cold turkey, because chances are, if I go cold turkey, I-ll just start again. I-m weak, what can I say? And I would appreciate an ex smokers advice, not a -smoker-hater-. Please.
I know smoking is a bad habit. What you need to do is replace the smoking habit with another habit like gum chewing, eating seeds, or something like that. If you do that long enough your smoking habit will be gone.
I quit many years ago and did it cold turkey. I just stopped buying cigarettes, stopped bumming cigarettes, and stayed away from places and situations where smoking was common.

It was much easier than I imagined. No problem really. I smoked a pack a day for over 10 years and quit easily. If I can do it, then anyone can.

Don-t build up the idea of quitting as being difficult in your mind. There is no real physical addiction to cigarettes, like the companies that sell -smoking cessation- products want you to believe. You don-t need skin patches, gum, or a hypnotist to quit. You only need your own will power.
well i have been a smoker for years and and have been quitting!! I recently bought these smokeless cigarettes and i haven-t official -quit - but i have cut out the ammonia, cyanide, the bad breath, the yellow teeth and smell. I am on the way to cuttting out the cigarettes completely but i-m doing it in a step by step process. check these out. they work really well.
I have been smoke free for 5 months now. My biggest motivation was just remembering how crappy it made me feel. When I would think about it I would just remind myself that it really makes me feel like S#!*. You feel so much cleaner and healthier when you stop. Also it is a pain in the *** habit, always reaching for cigs and trying to figure out where to ash. Your hands will be free! If you really want to stop do not go out with the smokers at work on smoke break. Do not hang out in bars or places where you will be tempted to relapse. If you do relapse and smoke one don-t give up right there and say -F it, I-m just going to start up again.- Just look at it as a mistake and continue the path of quitting.

Something else that worked for me was that I replaced my bad habit with a good one. Now during my smoke breaks at work I stay inside and eat an apple instead of going out with all the smokers.
Same here. I went on Chantix. Let me tell you, it works. I started smoking when I was 21. I-m 63 now so I smoked for a long time. I am smoke free. The fact that you want to quit is the most important factor. It won-t work if you-re forced to quit. Call your Dr and tell him that you want to go on Chantix because it is a prescription. what it does is block the area of the brain that causes the addiction. You will smoke on the Chantix at first and that-s OK but eventually, you won-t want them anymore. If it worked for me after all those years, it will work for you. If you have insurance, they pay for it. You only have a co-pay. Good for you. I wish you the best and I pray you make it. You will. God bless you

What is the best way to quit smoking? -

I quit successfully over 10 years ago and here is how I did it:

A reward: I made a deal with my spouse to buy my dream motorcycle one year after successfully quitting. You can create a reward yourself that really moves you. It should be something really significant.

I created a plan where I would set out my cigarettes for the next day each night and reduced the number by one each day. So the first day was one pack, the next day was 19 cigarettes, the following day 18, etc,
It worked.
Stay away from your acquaintances that smoke at first. They-ll try to ruin your plan.
Get friends and family to write little messages on little pieces of paper. Eg: Please stop smoking! i love you--
Put them all in an empty cigarette box, every time you need a cigarette, pull out one message and read it. It will make you realize you need to stop, not just for you and your heath but for others around you
Good Luck
x
You got to have controll over 1-s self. Mind over mater! set your mind to it and ,you will.
Get the patches at a pharmacy that help you quit smoking. Chew gum. Just don-t smoke. Quit cold turkey. It will be hard but I know you can do it. Good Luck to You!
Was listening to the radio yesterday and a guy said he quit by getting acupuncture treatments.
You should try this special gum that stops the addiction im
not sure what the name is but you should have a pen and a pencil ready when you watch tv because every once in a while a commercial will show up about smoking and will give you a number to call.
www.QuitNet.com Best support site, ever. Go there and sign up. Go to their QuitStop forum, which is for newbies.
Ask questions, read, poke around the site.
That place saved my life.

Also, I personally agree with using the NRTs, like the patch, nic gum or lozenges. Newest thing out is Chantix which is prescription only.
There is a medicane called Chantix. Go to the Dr. and talk to them.

Quit Smoking as of today going to basic for army in 27 days? -

I have 27 days to get back into shape ive been running and doing push ups and situps but its still hard to breath from time to time so i quit smoking was woundering if ne one has advice on how to incress my lung capacity and fast!!!
Try Bikram Yoga. It worked good for me. I smoke a pack a day and I was looking for ways to run and do exercise without dying with smoker-s lungs. A friend of mine recommended it, For the first couple of sessions it was like hell to breathe but now feels so much better.
You can exercise your lungs just like most parts of your body. Running is a good start but I suggest doing deep breathing exercises also. Take the deepest breath you can take. Hold it as long as you can and then exhale slowly till all the air is out of your lungs. Breath normally for a few minutes and repeat several times per day. This will increase you lung capacity.
for an overall workout, swimming takes some beating,it really works your lungs and your body.start with ten lengths and increase by ten every two days till your doing 60.finish with a nice sauna or steam bath if you can,i guarentee you-ll feel like a million dollars after a couple of weeks and it-ll show.best wishes ..james.f
for your lung capacity you should practice holding your breath as long as you can consistently until you get good at it and can hold it from 50 - 60 seconds but a good reason your lungs are tired is cause your heart is too weak remember to keep jogging
Tryout some Breathing Execises.

Search for Yoga exercises for Increasing lung capacity.

Does anybody else out there have a problem with sugar and sweet cravings? How do I curb my cravings for sugary snacks, gained 20 pounds since I quit smoking.
Hi! Sugar cravings cravings occur due to a dip in blood sugar and the moment you satisfy them your blood sugar spikes and then crashes again so you can-t stop..Here-s a great article that will help with that -

-How to Overcome Sugar Cravings-

Hope this helps! Good luck.
the cravings are in your head so just dont give in and have a glass of water insted as you are usally just thrsty when you think you want to eat. ands its proably because your used to crabbign a cigaret so your body thinks you should have smething sound slike your doing well at quiting though well done
LOL, I shouldn-t laugh, but been there, done that, as they say. The good news is that it fades with time, most of the weight I gained came off over the next year without any special effort on my part.
I get sugar cravings basically ALL the time. I-m eager to find out the answer to this question !
Drink juices..
instead of eating sugary foods,
substitute them with fruits.
:)
Just eat a little bit of twizzlers only one or two and tell yourself no just like the smoking.

If you were to quit smoking cold turkey, what would you make your last cigarette? -

would it be before you go to bed, when you wake up, or some time during the day? why?
6 p.m. in the evening. I quit on 9/6/2009 at 6 p.m. not for any profound reason but that-s when I ran out of cigarettes. My reason for quitting was anger. I got tired of paying taxes out the kazoo so some politician can wantonly waste the money on some insanity. Anger is a good reason to quit. I haven-t missed the cigarettes nearly as much as I thought. And, I really like the taste of cigarettes. But I really hate politicians and taxes. Try it. Get mad and you, too, can waste the money you save on wanton insanity of your choosing. Screw the politicians of all parties.

What is the best way to quit smoking permanently? -

Here is how I quit after 40 years:

I know my self and know that if I planned a time to quit it would not work and I would worry and fret until the time I had selected arrived, so I decided to surprise myself.

I bought the patches and put them up on a shelf.

One morning I woke up and decided -this is the day-, got out the patches and applied one.

after a few weeks of using the highest strength patch, I continued to buy the highest strength patch, but wore them for 2 days, then for 3 days......etc.

I then obtained some of those nicotine inhalers, either have to get a prescription or molest a drug rep.

I kept the inhaler in my pocket and when i had the urge for a cigarette i used the inhaler, usually a few times daily, but less and less as the days went by.

finally I was free of the symptoms, and was able to go without any aides.

It seemed easy

Of course I had the heart attack 2 years later, so please don-t wait as long to quit as I did.
Quit cold turkey was best for me. What solidified it was smelling how bad smokers really smell. I was embarrassed at how I must have offended people by that smell.
Sorry, I don-t smoke, but i do know some people who did quit and they chewed on gum constantly until they fought over that urge.
This sounds crazy but carry Ciggs with you. You know how it is if you don-t have you crave for them more. But if you have and you know you can light up, you don-t crave as much.........Works for me
The bottom line is that you have to WANT to quick smoking. Without the real desire to quit, it is hard.

Start by cutting out all the -extra- cigarettes. There are probably times when you really feel you enjoy a cigarette. And, other times when you just smoke out of boredom or habit.

Determine the ones that you really enjoy and cut out the rest. Whittle it down that way. Then, you can slowly cut down on the times you are still smoking.

A friend of mine smoked for over 20 years. When he quit, he still smoked, but didn-t inhale. He said the taste and feeling in his mouth was so disgusting that it was easy to quit after a short time.

Hypnosis helps some people. But, again, unless you really want to quick smoking, it probably won-t work too well.

Keep yourself busy. Instead of reaching for a smoke because you-re bored, get up and walk around the block or something. Doing exercise (as long as you-re doctor says it-s okay, of course) is a good way to help you keep busy and feel better, so that you don-t want to smoke.

Good luck with it!
Death...no, just joking. I would take Noni juice, on an empty stomach, as often as you like when not smoking. The neurochemical cascade is similar to what nicotine evokes. It releases both serotonin and the catecholamines simulating that speed-ball effect...relaxing and stimulating, but without causing dependency and having alot of -side benefits.- Just make sure the stuff isn-t watered down when you buy it (Noni Pacific is the best, methinks), and then add it to juice for taste after you buy it.
why quit? just cut back. don-t smoke so much cigarettes in one day, i am a smoker and i think it-s cool.
at least that-s my opinion
cold turkey and prayers.
you should have a stroke and if you survive from it then you will learn from the pain that SMOKING IS BAD, that is if you survive then you should count your self a lucky bastard, or something more worse like throat cancer, then your in trouble mate
To really want to quit, like, if you have elderly parents or children around you.
Well get alot of sugar free gums and candy keep that on hand i just stopped smoking about 5 months ago and yes its hard as HELL but i put my mind to it and said to myself that i wanted to live not die just like my parents did i stopped COLD TURKEY! just watch thast u dont over do it with the candy and gum it can put alot of weight on ya well hope u can stop good luck and god bless!
Picture yourself dieing a miserable death and destroying the lives of all the ones who love you dearly and leaving them behind to cope with what you left them. It is just another form of suicide, just more acceptable by many. Still suicide though.
Cold turkey or hypnosis
maybe you-ll find an iner you that does not smoke
My mom has this laser treatment done...she hasn-t smoked in 2 years
JUST quit smoking.....It-s that easy...
Have you tried the patches, or there is that amazon stuff that u just spray in your mouth.

What do you think is the best way to quit smoking? -

im trying to quit.
and i wanna know the best way...
If what you are smoking is tobacco, here are a few ways I know:
Since what gets you addicted from smoking is nicotine, there is a much better way of getting it than smoking over 4000 different chemicals. That-s right, 4000! Well, anyway, you could pull a cold turkey. But that would be VERY hard since it takes a very strong will. You can buy nicotine patches and gums. These things contain an amount of nicotine, and they decrease over time until you finally stop wanting to get it.
Maybe try the gum or the patches, best of luck!

btw- this was for you in case you didnt see it

Well, i know im sitting like right next to you.
but yeah you need to STOP smoking.
especially in the house.
im up hacking all night
O_o

-3 yer sissy mang!
:]

p.s.use gum!!
if you go with any nicotine patches or anything try the hand gel, i forget the brand or whatever but works good

and aside from that try chewin lots of gum
how about use those nicotine patches or just use one of those cigarette that are -smoke-free...-
gum sunflower seeds just keeping something in ur mouth constantly can lower the urge to smoke
Dont smoke think of them as something u dont need when you want to smoke really bad
smoke weed

How the hell do you quit smoking? -

My sister has been smoking for seven years, is trying to cut down/quit and is having difficulties, any ideas on anything to help her?
I started on patches and that stupid plastic cigarette. The patches gave me bad vivid nightmares and the plastic doodah gave me an even worse chest. I threw the lot away and just -gave up-. Don-t even think about it now after a year and a half.

I recommend this product, it seriously changed my life. I was able to quit in one day. Not a lot of people even know about it... its put together by a man named Matt Godson http://doiop.com/one-hour-quit
Hypnosis methods vary a great deal, which makes it hard to study as a way to stop smoking. For the most part, reviews that looked at studies of hypnosis to help people quit smoking have not supported it as a quitting method that works. Still, some people find it useful. If you are interested in trying it, ask your doctor if he or she can recommend a good hypnotherapist.
Acupuncture for smoking is usually done on certain parts of the ears.
very carefully and with a plan. i quit 25 1/2 years ago and it was tough. I used substitutes for the cigarettes but even that is 2 prong and hard. I did quilting to keep my hands busy and ate sunflower seeds adn hard candy to keep my face busy. The first 3 days were absolutely horrid but the 4th day, a cigarette was NOT the first thing I thought about and I knew I was on the right road. I twitched, I yearned, I got pissed for no reason, I was a witch with a capital -B- but I did it. It was so horrid that I would never start again, just to have to go through that again.
Hubby used the patches and also the snacks and something to do with his hands. For both of us, the psychological addiction seemed worse than the physical. For all those times I used to smoke, I had to find something else to do. Like after a meal, before going to bed, after getting up, while on the toilet, during an argument, substitutions for it all. I nibbled and crocheted and quilted myself silly. My husband did find-a-word- puzzles and nibbled.
I tried Chantix - it made me Nucking futz.

Went back to smoking, switched to American Spirit ciggerttes for a couple weeks - they dont have as many chemicals in them - I dont know why, but the withdrawl from them doesn-t scream as nearly as loudly as marlboros, etc. Easier to put those down.
Well I personally... havent because Im only 15 =S

But my Dad was a smoker and he told me how he quit.

He though that everytime he buys a pack of cigarettes, it lasts him a day. Thats $10. So its $10 a day, multiplied by 7 for a week with is $70 a week. Multiplied by 52 for 52 weeks which gives $3640 a year on smoking alone. Thats a lot of money...

Anyway, it may not be affective on everyone, but my Dad likes saving money =]
Chantix.

I don-t want to be an annoying gf but it-s a bad habit and I-m worried about his heath because I care about him very much :)
I-m sure he wouldn-t think you annoying, its very sweet you care about him enough.
My sister-s boyfriend - now he husband, and a smoke free husband I may add - smoked for 7 years before he met her! I-m not really sure how she did it, but to be honest, I think she guilt tripped him. They where trying for a baby - I dunno if your quite there with your bf yet - but she basically said -I don-t want to be a widow with a child and living alone- and etc. This scared him out of smoking.
He has been smoke free for almost 6 months now, and has told me he doesn-t even crave much, which is good :)
It-s an awful habit to get into, but even worse to break out of.
Just tell him you-re worried, I-m sure if he cares for you and understands why you-re so worried, he-ll give the smoking a rest - after all, it-s just a little white death stick.

Good luck to him, and to you :)
x
I had similar experience with my husband (boyfriend at the time). He knew how I felt and I would joke about not having him around for the rest of our lives due to lung cancer so I need to make the best of my time with him. I never made him stop cold as that is hard for anyone to do. He was not a heavy smoker so maybe that helped. A pack would last him about a week or less. After putting in perspective how much a pack costs and the savings, he slowly cut back and soon started buying packs every other week instead of weekly and bumbed cigs off his friends. He quickly grew tired of having to ask friends and the weeks he didn-t buy, he noticed the saving in money and a difference in his health. He decided to stop cold only after he was only smoking a few times a week. He did this as a new years resolution for himself not for me.

Now the taste of cigs makes him sick.

Good luck and I hope it works out.
Well you can-t make him quit but you can talk to him about it, nicely i might add and dont sound forceful.just tell him your concerns about his health and that you love him.
first step for him would be to talk to a doctor because they know about quitting programs and medications that can make quitting easier and increase chances of quitting for good. be supportive of him!!!

If you really want to quit smoking do what I did. Buy the eCigarette. It works great, you still get to smoke and there is no tar, tabbaco, or smell. I am telling you I bought it at a mall for $150, I found it for about $70 at http://www.giftgiftgifts.com/cat-ecigarette.cfm and there is a lot of information at http://www.gadgetworldus.com/eCigrettes.html Ceck it out.
haiz... very difficult la... maybe u shd pick up smoking to annoy him,

Attempting to quit smoking again? -

ok this is like the million time i try to quit smoking, any tips that could be helpful? i heard that replacing the habit with something good works, but what did u replace it with? everytime i wanna quit smoking i just feel i need them somehow ,but i dont give a damn anymore if im ready or not,i do wanna quit wether im ready or not . also i cant afford all the meds and other things to buy to be able to quit,so i wanna go cold turkey , but how to do it ? thanks
Read Allen Carrs book. -the easy way to stop smoking- I-m halfway through it. Although i haven-t quit yet, i do find reading the book very helpful, as it prepares you to stop.

One of the things he says, is that don-t think you are giving up anything, (as that will make it feel like you are being deprived) in fact you have loads to gain!
every time you get the urge to smoke, chew gum, i don-t know why but there-s something about it, it helps, also try to hang out with people to take your mind off it and if you have a close friend (who doesn-t smoke) ask if they would stay with you for a few days so every time you want to smoke they can make sure you don-t. and make sure you stay away from any kind of bar or place that smells of smoke so it doesn-t make you want to.
i think its great you want to quit because the reality is there going to kill you at a young age so its better to stop soon before your body cant take it anymore
i wish you lots of luck!! (-:
well the other answer took my idea...but like a sucker kinda like a dum dum...and u can even pretend ur smoking it, too! plus itll taste good =]

and just try as hard as you can to not do smoke and stuff...
try eating hard candy or chewing gum in place of a cigarette when you get the urge get a candy even a jaw breaker might work sore or tart candy just a suggestion good luck

Best way to quit smoking? -

I gave myself a date to quit smoking. It will be on September 5th 2006. Should I ease of the cigarettes as the day gets closer or just smoke normally till then. I plan on just quiting cold turkey.
Congratulations onyour decision to quit. I quit 25 days ago and these are some strategies that are working for me:

1. I take a bottle of water in the car with me when I drive. I was used to smoking while driving. Drinking water is a healthy way to replace that habit.

2. After a day or two I told my co-workers and friends. A good support network has been helpful when I-ve been tempted to smoke again. I don-t want these people to be disapointed in me.

3. If the urges become too much or if you start to get depressed see your doctor. I tried to go cold turkey on my own and it was too much for me. My doctor has been a big help in keeping me on track.

4. Remember to reward yourself. I bought myself my favorite ice cream when I went a week with no cigarettes :)

5. Put aside the money you would normally spend on cigarettes and plan to do something special for yourself with it.

6. When I-m struggling with a craving I try to focus my energy on something - a book or video game, special project, anything to occupy my mind and hands to keep from thinking about smoking.

It-s not a bad idea to start decreasing your smoking before your start date. Every cigarette you don-t smoke is a step closer to your goal!

Good luck.
I quit cold turkey. My daughter almost died at 3 from an asthma attack. Smoke was a major trigger. We smoked outside but still it was on our clothes and that was enough to trigger it. So I stopped and even welcomed the withdrawal pains. But it was easy because I had that to motivate me.

Okay, quitting is tough. I-m trying to quit right now. I had a lighter I always used to light my cigarettes. I smoked my last cigarette, and threw the lighter away. Now, it-s not quite as big of a pull for me to buy another pack. I knew that lighter always worked well, but I don-t want to try and get a new lighter to replace it. So far, I-ve been quit for a week... but I tell you, if the wife keeps nagging at me the way she has been, it won-t last much longer.
I think it-s easier to smoke less and less each day ... then on Sept 5th, no smokes at all.
My boyfriend wanted to quit smoking and he didnt quit completely at first he weened himself off of it. if you quit cold turkey it may make it harder. work out a plan that is good for you. if you usually have 10 cigs a day have only 8 and keep cuting it down each week. good luck
Exert your will power and don-t set a date. Just realize that you have the choice to do it if it-s really what you want. Simply quit. I know your body will still have a dependence on whats in the cigarettes, but take up a hobby that will atleast distract you long enough for cravings to pass. Maybe going to the gym or something?
Why wait until then? think how much you could save between now and then. Setting a date usually brings on a postponement when the time comes.

I stopped smoking in 1972, I heard the budget saying that cigs were going up by quite a large amount, I had three cigs in my packet and said that I would smoke them and that would be it. I have not smoked a cig since.
Cold Turkey is the best way even right now if you want to try tapering down if could make it a little easier!!
I have never smoked so I cannot say from personal experience but from friends and relatives that were smokers and then quit they all said quiting -Cold Turkey- was best for them... Good luck to you!
the best thing to do if you quit cold turkey is plan a few days packed with activities where you can-t smoke, and something that will keep your mind off of it. Cold turkey quitters are far more likely to relapse than those who cut down and actually quit though.
Think of flowers or think of something else when you think of smoking that usually works!!
WHY WAIT UNTIL 9-5-2006? DO IT SOONER. DO YOU WANT CHARRED LUNGS? DON-T TAKE MY WORD ... ASK A FRIEND THAT DON-T SMOKE .... HERE-S A WAY: LAY THE PACK BESIDE YOU - WAIT TO SEE HOW LONG BEFORE YOU LIGHT THAT CIGARETTE, THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE BETTER YOU WILL FEEL.
Go on smoking but you should read Allen Carr-s Easy way to stop smoking. Don-t laugh. I got a guilty conscious while I read it and my longing for cigarettes has decreased. Good luck..
stab yourself in the hand every time you light up

Try getting into as support group. Your doctor will probably have information on one local to you.
You have to be ready to quit...and ready to quit for yourself, for your own health. If you quit for someone else (parent/child/spouse) whenever the next stressful event comes along you will just start smoking again.

I have tried zyban, the patch, hypnosis, and cold turkey. The only one that worked for me was cold turkey...because I was ready to quit for me.

Once you ahve made the decision to quit for yourself you need to prepare your home and work environments for this change. Get rid of ashtrays and lighters. Clean the house so that it smells nice. If you have smoking buddies at work tell them that your quit date is ____. Maybe they-ll decide to quit too and then you can become ex-smokers together.

Remember that it takes a while to get the nicotine out of your system. Then the rest is a change of behavior and mind set.

GOOD LUCK!!
Try to go to a hospital and get a professional plan.
I am right there with you...I am in the process of quitting right now. I bought some herbs at the health food store and I am 1 day into the struggle. I am hopeful that this will ease the cravings at least a little bit. Keep busy and suck it up is the only advise I can give right now. Thin of yourself as a tibetan monk with a will of granite. push through the pain. You can do it.
try keeping yourself occupied all the time and throw away your lighter and cigareets

you could also try the nicotine path or gum
have your Dr. prescribe welbutrin.......IT WORKS!
I-ve tried many ways to quit smoking, all worked for awhile but I eventually started again. I was finally able to quit the habit the old-fashioned way, cold turkey. First step, resolve to quit, think of your health, family, and money, trust me, you save a lot of money when you quit smoking, and tell everyone you know what your doing so they can help, if they are smokers beg them not to let you -bum a smoke- no matter how much you might beg them. Second, pick a day to stop, I picked the day my son was born, making it a special day like that helps remind you what your quitting for. Third, throw away all your packs of cigarettes and all your lighters. I threw mine away at a gas station, instead of at home or work, so I wasn-t tempted to go back and get them later. It worked for me. Good Luck.
i recently stopped smoking by reading a book. I didn-t suffer from any withdrawal symptoms nor have i regretted my decision. The book cost me the price of two packets of cigarettes - less than a box of patches and once i have completed it i knew i would never smoke again. The book is called the easyway to stop smoking by alan carr. The brain is the most powerful thing you posess. use it to help you stop smoking.
If you are truly ready to quit, this method should work. Drink pure cranberry juice for 3 days. This will flush the nicotine out of your system. After that, it is a total mind set. You have to tell yourself that you don-t need to smoke after eating, while having a drink, etc.
Think of it this way: Let-s say your late for work, and you
discover you have a flat tire. You grab a cigarette, is that cigarette going to get you to work on time, or inflate your tire? No! After the cigarette is gone, your still late and you still have a flat tire. And you have just polluted your body! Good luck!

No, quitting is always worth it, no matter what age you are. Some researchers say that 10 years after quitting your lungs are as healthy as a non-smoker.

Besides the health benefits of quitting, there-s the bonus of saving money and having higher self esteem, as you-ll be proud of yourself for making the effort.
I was a smoker for 25 years and I had quit smoking for over six times ,but never really quit smoking before.Just after I read that quit smoking program, I realized how easy quitting smoking was.I am a non-smoker now! I highly recommend this program to you.It really works. You can check out

Good luck!
Of course it is never too late to quit. And your body regenerates every cell in your body at least once every seven years, so a few years most of the damage to your lungs can be restored to its fullest capacity
Never too late. Take a look at

BTW, I quit 4 months ago after smoking for 30+ years.

Its never too late. And, there is some evidence that the effects can be reversed--meaning that your risk of getting cancer or some other smoking-related disease like emphasema actually falls with each passing day that you do not smoke.
