How do i get my parents to quit smoking? -

they always try, and fail. i constantly push them to quit, but it never works
piont out to them that while they are smoking in the same room as you then you are also smoking, because second hand smoke is a killer, plus tell them how much you care about them.
Then proceed to blackmail, saying -if you love me you would quit.-

If they say it isnt that simple, say it is.
Ask them how they would feel if you took up smoking and they had to watch you killing yourself everytime you breath those horrid toxins into your body.

They should quit, if not, then you dont really matter to them I guess, because quitting smoking isnt that hard when you are doing it for someone you love. Trust me.

If they dont, also you could show them this post
They have to want to stop because they REALLY want to.

LASER threrapy really works.
Laser Therapy helps to balance endorphin levels, thus helping to control the addiction and pacify the cravings. It assists you to stop smoking - the all encompassing cravings are gone.

Laser treatment is the application of a cold, non-evasive pain free laser beam to specific points of the body which stimulates and releases endorphins.

This helps enable individuals to concentrate on lifestyle changes associated with becoming smoke free. Laser Treatment is a very relaxing experience, something you probably have not been promised in the past as you tried to stop smoking.

The treatment is completely painless and in 20 minutes you can become smoke free! We use a low level laser (also known as a therapeutic or cold laser). It works along the same principle as acupuncture but of course, no needles.

GOOD luck!
call a doctors office, or pharmacy, maybe a health center. See if you can get all kinds of free samples. Some places give out free stuff to encourage people to quit. There has never been a better time to quit than now, with all the new aids that have come out recently ! But, you cannot force them. Putting them under the stress of a timetable, or feeling pressured, could cause them to smoke even more ! Just get the samples, pamphlets, info, etc.... and leave them all over the house, at least 2 or 3 spots where you know they will find them.
tell them if they can-t do it for themselves,do it for they-re children, tell them you want them to be around for your children.
print out alot of things off the web and leave them around everyday.go to Chantix.com,the stop smoking pill and print it all out.get the info on every type of gum,pill,inhalers,etc.etc.and keep putting it where they can find it.Don-t give up on them!
Just tell them that it-s not good for them and that it actually eats out your lungs. So if they want to live they have to quit
tell them how dissapointed u r of them
serach the net for some really disgusting pictures of lung cancer and also go to youtube and type about lung cancer and show them some of those-im trying to make mine quit to lol im going ot do this lol
You really can-t -make- someone quit. They have to want to do it themselves. Maybe they should try acupunture or hypnosis? It is a hard thing to do. Going -cold turkey- is the best way though. You can try to educate them on the risks of smoking by leaving articles on the effects of smoking, or having their Dr. talk to them. Not only that, but their second-hand smoke is harmful to you.
Please give them credit for trying!

It is quite common for someone to attempt to quit multiple times before the actually do quit. I think the average is 5 attempts.

Most people who fail on their attempts to quit, feel ashamed and frustrated. Many people who quit don-t even tell anyone that they are trying to quit, in case they do fail. I was definitely one of those people!

Have your parents see their doctor to see what smoking cessation aids, if any, would work for them.

Good luck to you and your parents!!!
Honey, as long as they keep TRYING------they will succeed someday.

My kids always wanted me to stop, but I was clueless about how NASTY it was until I was left as a sigle homeowner---then it was keep the house, or keep the cigs.

I kept the house---now 3 yrs smoke free after a 27 yr habit. And I-m as anti-smoking as you can GET!!!!!
Keep fighting for it - NEVER give up!
There are many aids to help quit smoking. There are patches and prescription drugs that are supposedly very effective.
Threaten to kill them. They are already doing it to themselves just slower.
It may be a dumb example and advice, but you should join them. Yeah, have them se you smoke and tell them -I-ll quit when you quit- and hopefully they get a guilt trip and try harder to stop. Like I mentioned, it-s a dumb thing that might just work; seeing that they-re setting a wrong example can get them to quit.
Have them try Nicorette fruit chills, supposedly it is a good tasting stop smoking gun. If you haven-t graduated or married yet ask them if they want to see you do either one beacuse of how bad smoking is for you!
A Yahoo search for -how to quit smoking- may be of interest.
Smoking is a very hard habit to break. Have they tried the patches? they work pretty good. But you have to WANT to quit. Dont push them too hard. They will quit when they get ready.
