Im still young, and I want to quit smoking. How do i quit? -

Are there any effective ways?
Don-t get those patches and gums. You-ll only get addicted to them and their more expensive.

It really depends on the type of person you are. If you have a strong will-power then you should just stop smoking. But if you don-t then I suggest a substitute. Like when you have a craving just nibble of a carrot or something. My sister had a lot of food cravings after she stopped and she nibbled on peas! Try to look for something healthy. It doesn-t have to be food. Its just finding something to do to keep your mind off the cravings. After some time you-ll naturally get used to it and may find the cigarette smoke irritating. You can also reward yourself like if you haven-t smoked for 1 week and so on.

I know many people who had troubles quiting. Its not easy! If you have a plan and that-s to quit then stick to it!

Good luck!
my husband was only 25 when he quit. I didn-t know him then, but he said that he was grumpy for about a week, but he quit cold turkey. I also know some others that have been successful with the nicotine patch. . good luck. i am proud of you for trying. and if you don-t succeed that first time, don-t give up. and even if you smoke a cigarette once, it doesn-t mean you have failed, just keep trying the next day.
QUIT smoking!!!
thats pretty obvious!!!
Always have something with you (on your pocket, bag, etc) that you can get your fingers on or always have finger foods when you want to put something in your mouth. That way, you-ll start to stop wanting to HOLD a ciggarete and stop wanting to put one in your mouth.
If you can find a buddy who also wants to quit, do it together. That-s how I did it, 15 years ago. You don-t want to end up looking wrinkly - scraggy before your time, you don-t want to smell like an ashtray, and you don-t need health problems. You can do it! You-ll feel SOOO much better for it.....
First consult a doctor and if you got a strong will power then think of smoking as the worst thing and the dirtiest you-ve ever heard of and if you love your life then you gotta leave that ****!
Good luck.
as previous answers suggest, talk to your doctor

as a short term help, try buying the absolute opposite of what you normally smoke...
for instance, if you smoke menthol....buy a non-menthol non filtered smoke....or vice versa
hopefully, the taste of the smoke itself will be unpleasant enough to help you quit...

also,,,,,,avoid having smokes where you normally have them
and watch yourself with -habits-....psychological as much as physical...
for instance, a smoke when you drink, after a meal, answering the phone, going to the john, on a long car ride...very often , you will be reaching for a smoke without being aware of it....
very hard to break these habits...
good luck
Yes there is a new prescription drug on the market, ask your doctor about it. Get support from all yor friends and family. Do it now, don-t set a date and then plan on doing it, otherwise you probably won-t. Increase your life expectancy and quality of life by quiting now.
Dear Buddy, Determination to quit smoking is the very first step and you-ve got the determination. I found this link that might be of use to you. I don-t know if its effective as I-m not a smoker; but anyway it-s worth a try for you since you have the determination to quit smoking. :)
